My husband went in to ask how long to get in, the hostess walked past him twice , didnt ask if he need help nothing. It is a sunday and quite busy , but to not even acknowledge him , is rude , disrespectful to customers. If you dont want to ask customers how many in your party dont be a hostess . That's money that we were willing to spend for a what looked like a nice diner . Please inform your hostess how to do their job approiately . read more

My wife and I stopped in for breakfast and were greeted immediately. We both got coffee, I got the hangover plate and she got a country ham biscuit with a side of hash browns with cheese and onions. All dishes served with a side of disinformation | misinformation today as a Fox & Friends segment aired live. It is grievous to see YOUNG ONES being fed the lies by their parents who've completely bought into propaganda that is destroying our country. It is beyond sad that business owners promote and spread these lies through highly promoted events of this nature. I protested FOX and Shorty's for hosting the show outside but my friends on the inside shared that a couple of talking points were "The tariffs are going to be great!" and "Isn't Trump doing a great job?" Through police officers, the owner asked our Black friend to leave the restaurant the second time she was inside. They couldn't provide her with a reason. I'm guessing it's because she wore a t-shirt and backpack featuring printed uncomfortable truths and opinions. read more

This is one of the only places I know of in Virginia where I can get one of my favorite Midwestern favorites: breaded pork tenderloin sandwiches! I order it with mayonnaise, yellow mustard, and a slice of onion! Excellent!!! Just be aware that the ceiling is rather low in this building, so it tends to be very noisy when they are busy. read more

Outstanding favorite breakfast and lunch dinner in Williamsburg. My favorite is their Shorty's Special with 3 eggs, bacon, home fries and biscuit. You have choice of protein and options for toast or biscuit and a variety of potato servings. My wife had a classic Reuben with fries and not only was our food outstanding but plenty to eat - enough to take home. And amazingly they have old fashioned milkshakes. Our preferred breakfast place, the best in the area with a mix of not only local folks but where retirees like to meet for a meal. Lots of great breakfast option, lunch and sides. Wife and I visited during a road trip, got the monte cristo and Shorty's special w bacon at waitresses recommendation. Sandwich had homemade strawberry jam, which added the perfect hint of sweet to the filling, savory cristo; fries were a good compliment. My friends and I wanted to fuel up before a day at Christmas town and saw that this was close by. I can never say no to a classic diner! When you walk it is not clear where you go to get seated. But someone will eventually get to you. It does seem to get pretty busy throughout the day. The decor is basic but feels nostalgic. The food is classic diner fare and the menu has a good variety of options. We got a couple of entrees; a country fried steak w/scrambled eggs, and home fries, pancakes, grilled cheese w/chili and a Rueben. The food is what you expect simple and comforting. The service was top notch and friendly. While nothing really stuck out as memorable, you do get a lot for your money. I glad places like this still exist. Disorganized chaos..... this place gets BUSY! Upon entry people are standing and waiting for their tables. There is no clear sign where to go, hostess stand or what to do. Me being the annoying person that I am, asked a person standing to the side what we needed to do. Was it worth the 1/2 wait? YES! All the staff were really polite and efficient. Ordered Door Dash over a weekend getaway with my boyfriend. We ended up ordering the chicken finger platter with fries, 2 cokes, the meatloaf platter and 2 biscuits. It was kind of a bummer though, cause when the food came, we were missing food. We were missing one whole platter, the meatloaf platter which my boyfriend ordered, so we had to share the chicken finger platter for dinner, because we weren't about to wait another hour to eat dinner. The door dash driver said the restaurant didnt give them the whole order and I couldn't really do much else besides complain to door dash customer service and get a refund or credit. Runny grits, my wife said the country ham tasted like spam, steak was overcooked and tough and biscuits not cooked completely through. There was lots of cute decor and an ample menu, but the hostesses and servers seemed to be forgetful and impatient. We shared a BLT (very good) and fries. Was in town for the Fourth of July holiday visiting family and we came here for breakfast one morning and it was so delicious that we ended up coming back the next day because it was that damn good! Space is small so there's probably going to be a wait when you arrive but the service is top notch & they get food out fast so the wait isn't too bad. We selected this location based on Yelp reviews and their menu. We were looking for a traditional breakfast. The menu included many possibilities. The restaurant appears to be located in a building that originally was part of a national pizza chain. The interior has some retro artifacts including a statue of Elvis. They provide table service. We had the corned beef hash and Shorty's special breakfasts. The special had several options; we choose 3 eggs over-easy, sausage links, home fries, and toast. The hash also had options; we had 3 scrambled eggs, the hash, and a biscuit. Our server, Kimberly, was great; pleasant, helpful, and checked to make sure all was well.
