Happy hour and a Gluten Free menu! This place called my name and I came running. We had a coworkers day out and everyone wanted to come here, this was my first time and this won't be my last. We all had yummy happy hour drinks- I had the margarita with sugar. They also had gluten free chips and salsa. It really made me feel included and safe. Was in the area and saw Shorty's and felt like trying a New Mexican place. Turned out this place rivaled the best Mexican in Los Angeles! The enchiladas sauce was classic and the best, with both the ground beef and fajitas steak and cilantro rice and black beans. Next time I'll have to try the carnitas. The quesadilla was huge, like 8 pieces cut from the 12" tortillas. The bacon and chicken and cheese were excellent and tasty. The decor is true Mexican road trip! Drinks were tempting, but this was 45 mins from home so I passed on the great sounding drink menu. Service was excellent. Parking is easy in a big private lot. I've been ordering Shorty's flan for 30 years and it's never been served burnt to me before today. This was sent home with me after having dinner and asking the bartender if they had flan. My wife and I went here for the 1st time today and I got the CBR and my wife got the tres colores enchiladas and we tried their jungle juice adult drink both portions were very generous. The CBR was a large quesadilla with chicken, cheddar jack cheese as well as onions and peppers the the 3 enchiladas were all distinct in flavors it came with steak,chicken, and ground beef. I've never dined inside so this review is all about the outdoor experience. Whenever I'm in town I enjoy sitting on the patio, sipping drinks and sharing appetizers with friends. Shorty's offers a Tex Mex style menu with popular dishes such as tacos, quesadillas, burritos and nachos. Entrées are mostly allergy-friendly and portioned for sharing unless you're starving. Love the drink selection, especially the Founders hard seltzer! Grapefruit pairs so well with chips and queso, oddly enough. Staff is consistently efficient and provides flawless service each visit. They've had no issues with helping my party order our gluten-free meals. The view of the parking lot and sound of speeding cars on the neighboring Everett Turnpike leave something to be desired. read more

We stopped by Shorty's for a late lunch on Saturday--my husband, mother-in-law, and I. The restaurant wasn't crowded, so we were seated immediately. Service was attentive, and our waitress promptly brought our margaritas and water. The margaritas were generously sized but disappointingly weak. For food, my mother-in-law ordered the shrimp and chorizo quesadilla, which she found quite greasy. My husband had the fish tacos--plenty of food and he enjoyed them. I went with the Cobb salad, which was good, but I noticed the price was higher than what was listed online, which felt a bit off. Overall, service was solid, food was okay, but nothing special. We gave it another shot after more than a decade, but I don't see us rushing back anytime soon. read more

When hubby and I come to Nashua for shopping at our favorite stores. We always pass by Shorty's and suggest we stop by to try it out. I finally convinced hubby to try it out. Even hubby agreed to come back again. And he is a hard person to please and convince. LoL... He was most satisfied with his choice of food. Came here with a friend after a spontaneous rain ruined our walk, and was super impressed with their covid reopen efforts! The menus are online, staff is masked and seating is though fully spaced. Free chips and salsa are always awesome. I am always content with their vegetarian options (kinda easy with Mexican food) but the mushroom fajitas were very good and gluten free. I, like many folks of the area, have many memories of hearing all about Shorty's on the radio. It took me a long time to finally stop at Shorty's but my partner and I were hoping to try something new. Unfortunately for us, this place isn't a spot we will come back to. To begin, we walked in on a Friday night and sat right down inside at a booth. We ordered a couple drinks when our waitress came over, and the drinks were interesting to say the least. My partner's strawberry margarita was okay, but my margarita was just straight booze. I know some folks would see this and get pumped, but I like some balance to my drink and this was comically strong; I can honestly say I tasted nothing at all but the tequila. We ordered the fried pickles and peppers, but somehow the fried pickles and peppers were so salty they were basically inedible. No one had added any salt, the flavor was just that intense. I gave them a fair shot and ate a couple handfuls but it was surprisingly bad, and I feel bad saying that. For the meals, I ordered a Cali burrito, which wasn't terrible, just forgettable and not very seasoned. I will say a highlight of the meal was the lime rice and river city beans, as a combo they slapped. My partner ordered the Tijuana Dancehall, which was inoffensive. I don't think the server was rude or anything, but she was barely around and it dragged out a pretty blah experience. I could see people liking a place like this for a heavy pour and hanging with the regulars, but that's not me. read more

I visited around 4pm on a Thursday, which worked out in my favor because I was immediately greeted and seated. The Spring Special on Thursday's is $5 house margaritas, mine was perfectly salted and a decent size with a strong kick! As I sipped my drink and flipped through the menu I munched on the complimentary chips and salsa. The chips were still quite warm which was lovely. For my entree I ordered the pollo fundido. It was the first time I had ever tried this dish, and it definitely won't be the last. The deep-fried flour tortilla shell had the perfect amount of crunch, a wonderful contrast to the tender shredded chicken that was inside. The shell was generously laden with Cheddar and Jack cheese, drool-worthy to look at as well as feast upon. The hostess, waiters/waitresses and the manager were all polite, prompt, and professional. This visit went smoothly, and was made memorable not just by the expertly prepared meal but also the awesome service. read more
