This place has good ambiance and decent indian food. We had the fish curry which was so flaky and melted like butter and this was the best dish we had. The indian inspired cocktails are definitely something to try and very unique. There are a couple of improvements that would make this more upscale, they had the ambiance but not the service nor the placement of tables. They really need new servers so that it can be more "upscale", we felt kind of rushed and did noticed multiple guests asking for salt but that could be due to taste preferences because we didn't need salt at all. We were placed at a table near the bar which was a first for me. This place has potential, if it could follow the service of like Rooh, another more upscale indian restaurant, this place would be a five star! So glad there's a good fine dining Indian restaurant in Sunnyvale now. We ordered an all veggie meal - Hara Bhara Kebab, Paneer Makhani, Bhindi Do Pyaza with some garlic naan. The food was great. Full marks there. I also had a couple of their cocktails and they were decent. I'd skip the Gulab Jamun ice cream desert. The texture was too crumbly for me - more like a 'rabdi' / malai kulfi texture than ice cream (for those who want a great Gulab Jamun ice cream, go to Pints of Joy Ice cream shop in Sunnyvale - thank me later!). Anyway, back to Shosha - the vibes at the restaurant was fantastic - the servers and hosts were friendly and professional. I'd come here again for sure - this time for some non-vegetarian food! Sosha is one of my favorite restaurants for an awesome indian dinner. This review is for the brunch. We were very excited for the brunch but cane back very disappointed with the quality of the brunch. The food was cold, poorly presented and the bread was cold and hard. There were no real drinks or juices with the brunch and when we asked for it we were given drinks in shot glasses. Indian brunch is not complete without chai and when we asked for it, we got cold half cups of tea! The server informed us that they were asked not to serve more than half cups. The live station guy made great omelettes and was very cooperative and accommodated us with pav when there was no toast! Overall, we were very disappointed! The brunch menu seems like a modified dinner/ lunch menu and quality really sucks. Please Sosha, step up your game and provide a better brunch experience. Having servers serve a bread basket, a little attention to detail and warmer food can make all the difference. For now , $24 is too much to pay for this brunch! read more

This restaurant is incredibly disrespectful and I sincerely hope nobody spends their hard earned money there. My wife and I went to the restaurant for dinner on Saturday night. We had checked open table earlier and given there was a lot of open available slots the whole night, decided to walk in at 7:50pm. When we asked for a table for 2, the staff told us the restaurant was booked completely the rest of the night both indoor and outdoor, even though we saw 4 table of 2's open. We then checked open table (see screenshot below) and there were so many open reservation slots left for both indoor and outdoor. Since we were turned down, we left the restaurant only to see 5 tables that were completely available outdoors. This was the most disrespectful restaurant l've ever been to so don't bother giving a cent of your money here!!! read more

We visited Shosha Indian restaurant today and paid nearly $110 for 3 people, our dining experience fell way short of expectations. The main dishes were largely unavailable; many trays in the buffet were nearly empty, and refills were not offered until the meal was nearly over, around 1:00 PM. This suggested a significant lack of preparation for the anticipated crowd size. The quality of food was disappointing. Most of the dishes, including the appetizers such as the coleslaw sandwich, dry paneer wrap, and overly greasy spinach baklava, corn masala, were not fun to eat at all. Moreover, the restaurant's layout seemed cramped for a buffet setting, worsening the uncomfortable dining environment. Service was also lacking; dirty plates sat uncollected for a long duration, and our table did not receive any follow-up on water or general service after being initially served. Our server was prompt to process our payment but did not check back with us thereafter to ensure our satisfaction with the meal. The only moderately nice expereience was the chaat station outside, which was decent despite being under-stocked. The staff there was courteous and friendly. Hence these guys get a 1 star or else I would have given zero if Yelp had one. For a price point of approximately $110 for three people, including taxes, the value received did not match the cost, especially when compared to other Indian buffets in the Bay Area. Last but not the least live music was too loud and could have lowered the sound so that people could at least enjoy that as the food and service were horrible. You definitely want to book a table well in advance. The evening we went the place was pretty packed. The ambiance is okay!! Nothing to write home about!! The food is also okay & nothing overwhelming. The servers were in a perpetual rush!! I'm not sure if they were understaffed or what!! But they were serving us in the most robotic manner. The paanipuri in particular is served an interesting contraption!! However no one gave us any instructions on how it is supposed to be consumed!! How were we supposed to know!! We visited this place for a friend's dinner party. We got a table upstairs. The ambiance is quite good and downstairs has good decor as well. - For drinks I tried heera aam panna which is a mango based mocktail but mine was quite watery, no specific taste. - Overall all appetizers were great. Some of the best appetizers were chicken 65 tikka, crispy chickpeas, malai chicken tikka, dahi papadi chat. Dahi kebab was okay, I have had better. - Main course was good as well. Dak Bungalow chicken was good, but butter chicken was not great. It was more like chicken kofta and too dry from inside. I would not recommend that. The service is prompt and fast, no complaints. They helped celebrate our friend's birthday with music and candles which we loved. read more

We came in on a Monday afternoon and hence didn't hit any crowds and were easily able to get a table. This restaurant has a very promising menu and is at a great location - Murphy Ave so I had high hopes. It did somewhat deliver but with such a big menu I have to make a return trip for a full analysis. Coming to this visit, the service was top notch since it was sparsely populated. The decor is very classy and elegant. They serve a bougie version of papad with dip complimentary in the beginning of the meal which was yum. We ordered the chicken tikka 65 appetizer and the chicken was incredibly moist. For entree we got the saag burrata which was a nice change compared to the usual paneer dish and the saag was very well made. The breads were decent, I felt like the onion kulcha was slightly doughy and underdone. Pricing is high and they are trying to hit the fine dining market. Will reserve my judgement on if it meets my expectations after exploring more of the menu. read more

Shosha stands for "showing off" as the waiter described to us, so we were very interested in how we were going to be impressed by the food. It started with liquid nitrogen smoke coming out with a specific spice scent. Pretty impressive, thought it was cool. A lot of the appetizers looked interesting so we dove into that, with recommendations from a friend who has been here, and ended with some entrees to complete the meal. Let's start with the good. The jackfruit bao was very impressive. Visually, they looked like paninis with some red sauce below, and some julienne papaya on the side, not really that aesthetic. But the taste was great, you couldn't even tell the jackfruit pieces but the flavor was there, and the red sauce was spicy and counter balanced the sweetness of the jackfruit. Not sure if the bao bun itself was the highest quality, but it worked well with the dish. The dahi puri and pani puri definitely looked a lot more aesthetic, and the flavors tasted fine. The pani puri had 2 shot glasses of three flavors of water: mango or papaya or something else a bit fruity, tamarind which was sweet, and mint which was spicy/tangy. The hari mirchi paneer also had a nice kick in spiciness, and the paneer was cooked normally. Now the not very impressive. The puris used for the pani puri and dahi puri were very disappointing. They are the cheap kind you get at the grocery store, which definitely detracted a lot from the experience and taste. The dahi balla ice cream wasn't an ice cream, it was more like a sorbet and there wasn't really much to taste it. It also didn't look like ice cream in terms of how it was presented too, I would have expected a scoop of it in a sphere. We expected the curries to look unique given that they were part of the main course creations, but they looked very dull and a little different in color than any traditional curry you get anywhere else. The peas in the M4 curry wasn't cooked all the way, and the flavor didn't really have much to crave for. The naan had a good taste, but the texture was lacking as the bread was dense and not light and bubbly like you get if you cooked naan in a tandoor oven. For a place that claims to "show off" their food, they partially did it but it didn't show in the flavors except for one dish. There were some good, but most felt like miscues across the dishes. I definitely would challenge this place to polish their dishes and be more creative with the entrees, as there is definitely potential to truly be a place where they show off their creativity, especially at the prices that they charge. read more

We had been there on a Sunday night to celebrate a family member's birthday . We had ordered the Pani Poori which tasted good. The Kheema pav was ok. The waiter tried to sell us the Tandoori Machli saying it's their best seller. We we're so excited to try this dish but when we got it, it lacked flavor and the dish didn't live up to its reputation. It made me think that the waiter just wanted to sell the expensive dishes to us. The Karampodi lamb chop was much better. There was nothing special about any of the main course dishes. But for dessert the Rasmisu was excellent. Overall I would come here for desserts only. Price point wise , they are too expensive for the quality of food they offer. I would pay this kind of money and go to Ettan restaurant than here. Ambiance wise it looked nice. But it felt like a regular fast food Indian store than an upscale one. The service was mediocre. They started cleaning the restaurant before we could finish our main course. I guess just the way it was layed out, quality of food and the service being not so great is why I gave it 2 stars. Terrible experience at weekend brunch. One of their staff forced us to pay upfront BEFORE we even set foot inside the restaurant! From fast food places to Michelin star restaurants, I cannot recall that ever happening. But the worst was that this atrocity was inflicted in a completely random way. Some people were not asked to pay upfront by the same person. Lamb was a bit more cooked than I would have liked but very flavorful Flambe Tandoori Chicken - Very unexpected and amazed when our waiter blow torched my chicken Chicken was kinda dry Dahi Kabab - Yummy crunchy yogurt patty with blend of flavors! Recommend this snack Dahi Papdi Chaat with Bhalla Ice Cream - First time trying papdi chaat and it was amazing!! Liked the crispiness as well as the sweet, tangy and spicy party in my mouth It was topped with savory ice cream with I was not a fan of, but did add to the aesthetics Butter Chicken - A classic and one of my favorite dishes! I came here with a few of my colleagues, and although I had called ahead to make a reservation, they didn't seem to have a record of it. They still honored my reservation and provided me with the table. It was one of those days when the temperature was hitting the 90's and they didn't have the AC on for a long time and left the door open, making guests uncomfortable to the point that everyone was fanning themselves. About an hour or so later, better sense prevailed and they decided to turn the AC on and close the door. Apart from the above experience, this place is great. The staff were nice and friendly. We spent about 2-2.5 hours in the place and took our sweet time ordering, and they were patient. The food was pretty good. It was Indian flavor with a fusion twist to it. I had vada pav and fish molee, both of which were good. Others had a variety of dishes and seemed to like them. Entree portions were quite large, but a little bit on the pricy side. There are a lot of good Indian restaurants in the Bay Area, but they are not great to dine in. This is one of the few places that I would recommend for dining.
