This was my husband's go-to for breakfast--it was a great place to get a filling bowl at a good price. We have also eaten there for lunch in the past. Willie's is nothing fancy but we have never been disappointed with anything we've ordered. read more

I ordered the fried catfish. Oh how I wish I had not ordered this! It tasted like old grease. The tartar sauce packaged were half full because they had been opened or smashed or something! Watch out! read more

Absolutely love it here!! The service is phenomenal and the environment is fitting for the menu. Their 1/4 lb burger is DELICIOUS. I ordered at least 3 add ons. Great food fresh at good prices. The chicken taco salad was served with fresh lightly barbecued diced chicken. The bacon burger and fries were really good! Pass on the fried mushrooms. The batter holds the juice the mushrooms release when cooked so they are really watery when you bite into one. read more

Four stars based on Red River standards! When in Red River, I rarely stray away from my grandma's kitchen. Why? Simply nothing compares! However, if I'm forced to eat out, Shotgun Willie's is one of the few decent options. While probably a three star establishment based on most metro areas, I'm here to give the little guys a boost because it truly shines! Conveniently located at the bottom of the ski slopes, you can walk in even wearing your ski boots to enjoy a nice greasy lunch (hey, you just burned some calories, right?). On my last stop, we actually took home some corn dogs, french fries, chicken fingers, burgers and a giant baked potato covered in cheese, sour cream and bacon. A couple days before, I also tried some of the BBQ brisket that my grandma had leftover and it was actually pretty tasty. The service was friendly (as are most people in Red River)... The condiment bar is also a nice touch so you can customize your sandwiches as you see fit! I've watched this place morph from the outside over the years but it's always remained a simple no-frills choice for grub in the Enchanted Circle. read more

This is always a go to restaurant when we are in Red River. It is a family run business that delivers fast, quality tasty food for a decent price. They have breakfast combo that can not be beat. UPDATE: The very rude young woman that I wrote about before decided to send me a message calling me a liar and explaining that she is nothing but sunshine and roses. My husband is the person she was rude to, not myself. She is a young woman who works as a cashier and has very short hair, possibly dark blonde or light brown that was under a baseball cap, about 5'6" tall. This woman was not only abrupt, but confrontational when she tried to let some people she knew cut in front of 8 or so people waiting in line and my husband called her on it. She was rude on the phone while taking our order, a brisket breakfast burrito and bacon breakfast burrito with sausage gravy. The food was mediocre at best. 4 small pieces of brisket in the brisket burrito and one barely cooked piece of bacon in the bacon burrito. After calling me a liar on here, she proceeded to call me "sweetie" and tell me to come get some bbq. No, not now, not ever. If I had received an apology from this woman, instead of more rude attitude, I would have taken down my review. I'm beyond angry and will tell my significant friend and family group that go to Red River regularly about everything that has happened in regards to Shotgun Willie's. read more

Shotgun Willie's is a do not miss in Red River! I've only had the hamburgers and the corn dogs but I've heard that the catfish and hotdogs are also great! The hamburgers are great and always perfectly cooked! The corn dogs are perfectly crisp on the outside, and good size! For like $2 extra you get fries or tator tots, both of which are great, and a drink with a plastic suvenier style cup they gets you free refills anytime you ever bring it back! Great place with a covered deck and outdoor seating, don't miss it! read more

This is a basic and casual hamburger and Bbq joint. They did have some Mexican options as well. I ordered the chicken tender basket. Pros: friendly, fast service. The chicken was juicy, French fry seasoning was ok. Nothing spectacular though. Cons: gravy could have used a bit more pepper in my opinion, tenders were just slightly over browned, French fries were not very crispy. The Texas toast was only grilled on one side, which I find rather lazy. Overall, average food, friendly staff. read more

We went here for lunch. I ordered the chicken wrap. I wasn't expecting much, small place, not fancy, but people were exceptionally nice and friendly. We got our food and WOW. Not only was it huge, it was FULL of grilled onions, green yellow orange bell peppers and the most flavorful grilled chicken and cheese. I think there was pico in there with tomatoes too. My husband got the smoked sausage sandwich which he really liked. Prices were great. We want to go back and try the smotherd breakfast burrito. read more

Shotgun Willies is Red River's version of Sonic. While you can't drive up and order from your car, the restaurant is essentially a shack where you can order things like burgers, "fajita burritos" (a tragedy aimed at tex-mex), hot dogs and the like. If you're looking for a quick bite, this may satisfy, but for it's prices, I'd rather go somewhere else. read more

My favorite place to eat in all of Red River. This place is the best breakfast and lunch food at the best price. Shotgun Willies is small and good old fashioned grilled food. Their breakfast is THE best in town. Their burgers and tots were also great. Just simple goodness at a great price. It is nice to find a place that doesn't raise their prices because you are a tourist in the city. Many others in town have increased their prices because they know tourists have very few other choices. Shotgun Willies is a place I'd recommend and return to each time I'm in RedRiver. read more

This place only gets two stars because their food is just mediocre. As a local it has made me sick a couple times, but this could just be due to the immense grease used. Overall they aren't horrible, but there are better places to eat in Red River. read more

We were lucky enought to get in Willies while there was a short line over the Memorial Day Biker weekend. While we were not with the droves of bikers, we were still hungry and came to town. The burgers were decent and the enchiladas (we suspect chicken wraped in a tortilla then covered by chili-ish enchilada sauce) were ok. Fries were average. Aagain this was an extremely busy weekend but nothing exceptional but it was quick and easy! read more

Established in 1990.

Shotgun Willie's has been a Red River institution for over 20 years. We specialize in BBQ, fresh (never frozen) hamburgers and have the best breakfast in town! We offer friendly counter service and are open year round to serve you. Family and pet friendly, Shotgun's is a great place to come in and enjoy some fresh hot food made to order or just stop in for a cup of coffee and hang out. Shotgun's is also the original home of the O.F.G's (Old Farts Group). This group, created by Carl Hodges, is a fun group of "Old Farts" that made Shotgun Willie's their original home. They tell stories, sing songs and tell jokes while they hang out and drink coffee. At one time they even had a key to the restaurant so they could come in at 5:00am to put the coffee on to brew.

Meet the Business Owner: Steve C.

Steve is the brisket master. He's a longtime resident of Red River who grew up visiting his grandparents in the Upper Valley in the 70's. He's worked in the food industry for the better part of 20 years and enjoys catering. Steve actually used to work at Shotgun Willie's Cafe as a cook before he and his wife Kelley bought the place! In his free time, he loves to ski and hot tub.

After playing 9 holes we properly stopped into the bar for a round. there were plenty of other people at this spot on the top of a mountain, and it seems like most were just there for the beer. There was even a bachelor party taking place and it was only 11am. I should mention we had on jackets thinking it would be cold but the round got us hot. The place actually ditched our jackets in a cupboard until we were done playing, free of charge. Great spot; I may go again just for the view and the beverage!

I sampled a taste from my brother's beer flight ($18). My mom's Desperado Mexi Lager also. They were mostly enjoyable. Red apple cider was probably something I would have on the front porch. For lunch I had the BBQ brisket sandwich ($12.50) with fries, pickles, and onions. They did not skimp on the meat. There was BBQ at the table which I added because the brisket was a bit flavorless. I chuckled when our server brought the mac and cheese out to my ultra picky nieces. He stated to my sister-in-law that it was in fact the Kraft-style mac, but it wasn't. I mean maybe he should learn what that means first of all. But second... Can you believe those kids are so picky that they didn't eat a single bite? Eight dollars per bowl with a side. Wow. My kids would starve the rest of the afternoon if their food smelled and tasted half way decent. Lol. I can almost hear the mutterings at my parenting style. Hey at least I drank my overpriced whiskey cocktail. Because our party was so large, automatic gratuity of 18% was added to our ticket. The women's restroom was small and mostly clean, but awkward entering and exiting with other women and girls crammed inside. I did not like how tables in our area were left untouched long after other patrons left. If I had my choice, I would probably opt for an alternative place next time. When you come in, it's beautifully decorated for Christmas! They have a fire burning where you can wait and not definitely had a rustic feel to it! They sat us next to the fire which was really nice for it being cold outside. Our server was very attentive, nice and knowledgeable. The menus were pretty spiffy too as it looked like an old newspaper clipping! They had a variety of steak and also had different animal options like elk & bison. The prices were a bit steep but given the quality and how well they executed the meal, I would say it was well worth it! You are offered a pretzel like bread with butter while ordering. Our waiter was on it and he continued to fill our drinks before we could even ask for more! What we ordered: - Bison ribeye (medium+): this was a gem! If you've never had bison before, don't get scared! It tastes just like cow only it's better for you! The cook was perfection and the seasoning on point! My 13 year old ordered it and devoured it! He had initially asked for A1 sauce but because it was flavored so well, opted not to use it. He said it was one of the best steaks he has ever had! - Ground Elks (medium) w/ chile and grilled onions: it comes dry but our waiter suggested adding green chile and onions to it (beware that's an $11 up charge). It was flavored well, cooked well and tasted amazing. My husband never had elk and said it was really good. Tasted just like ground beef with just a hint of something different. - 12 oz New York sirloin (medium): cooked to perfection, seasoned perfectly and topped it with a garlic/butter compound. My daughter, who rarely eats anything more than a 3oz, ate more than half because she liked it that much. - 10oz ribeye (medium): cooked and flavored to perfection again!! On top of that, it was so tender and melted like butter in my mouth! It was so smooth, and just an amazing quality I hadn't had in such a long time. While ribeye comes fatty, this was utter perfection! I typically only eat about 4-5 oz, but ate the entire thing! If we decide to come back to this area, we will definitely stop here! If you want a good steak, go here!!!

This place has the best meals for the best money in town. I have eaten here for over ten years and have to say that the new owners have moved it way up in quality. Breakfast is my favorite but don't sleep late because at 11:00am it is over. Make room for burgers and brisket! Steve knows his barbecue/grilling.
