This is an A+ company. I booked on-site shredding at our storage unit. I was given a 3 hour window and they committed to call me 30 minutes before arrival so I didn't have to wait since it was not at my home. I contacted them via their on line "request a quote". It arrived very quickly and was good for 30 days. I called to book the appointment and the representative was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. On the day of my appointment I received a call from Angel that he was on his way and would arrive in 30 minutes. Almost 30 minutes on the dot he drove up. While I had organized the boxes, they had been in storage for years so not in the best condition. Angel quickly got to work pouring out the contents into a large bin. He removed any plastic bags and put the boxes to the side. A couple boxes had mouse droppings but he was not at all fazed. Within 30 - 40 minutes he had shredded the contents of 25 banker boxes. The old empty boxes were stacked back in the storage unit (they don't shred boxes) , he processed my payment using his phone and went on his way. Fast, easy and very convenient. I dropped by and had to wait for quite a bit until someone came by with the grey garbage bin. I only had 2 paper bags worth of documents,bills and letters to be shredded and a laptop that is from 2005. He took my things in the back and gave me a bill of $5. I asked if I can watch my things get shredded and he said it's probably done. There's a tv in the waiting room that wasn't turned on. And it took time for the tv to warm up. He said it's done with shredding. I said I wanted to see my laptop get smashed (because I didn't clear any data. My fault. But the Apple laptop doesn't work anymore but still has the hard drive disk). He said it gets broken down for e-waste. I am very concern of stuff I have there. But don't want to make a scene. I have to take the time to give a review of this fabulous company. Today is Thursday and I was desperate and stressed trying to find a residential shred company at the last minute. I spoke to Diablo paper shredding (Sal) he didn't have availability but he didn't want to just leave me hanging out there so he told me to call Shred-works they are pretty accommodating. I followed Sal's suggestion and called Shred works. A very nice lady named Tina answered she could hear the urgency in my voice. She said she really wants to help me out but Hayward shredding with them are on Weds but she will call to try to get me added to the schedule. Tina is a power-box of hope. She never once showed me negative ways. Tina is a ray of sunshine and a pleasure to speak with. About an hour after speaking with Tina the shred truck arrived. They made it happen stress free thanks to Tina. I am a firm believer that you do not get a second chance to make a first impression. That being said Tina and Sal has placed a positive memory of their customer service in my head that I will remember for ever. Tina made me feel important to the company. This review is entirely for their pick up and the customer service associated with it. I routinely have an issue getting a response back from these guys. Their associate's emails aren't covered when they go on vacation thus sometimes you won't hear from them for a week or so after your message is sent. The first time we received a pick up the driver neglected to take the check with him thus we ended up having to both send it and then deal with the song and dance of getting a bill and calling 3 or 4 times over several weeks before they finally cleared the check. The guys who picked up the boxes each time were friendly and quick and I have no complaints as to the actual pickup. The service though in getting the items picked up, that however needs some work. ******* Edit 6/13/13 I have since moved on to another position, but the last few times my previous company used their services we requested they make sure to pick up the check onsite and I would email Greg himself if the was any lag time in response. All in all, I hope my old company continues using them as they really did address the problems mentioned in the review. read more

A little challenging to reach during morning or afternoon, or evening traffic, but worth taking all that unwanted, 10 year old stack of paper to the shredder. They make it easy. Come the holidays, we're egged to splurge, but after that splurge, may I suggest a purge. Hello, I'm not Dr. Seuss. Onward. There finally came a day when my cluttered closets' protests for freedom were heard. Circumstances and an ex-coworker's evangelical persuasions of the liberating joys of de-cluttering set me to purge. And, I mean PURGE. I realized in the process I had five computers I had just moved from apartment to apartment because I didn't know how to dispose of them. (Not sharing any dates, but the oldest ran on 40 mB ram. Shhh.) Old CDs, ZIP drives, unused cables -- cartons of 'em. Single-use items like glass punch barrels and oversized wooden salad bowls were heaped in. And, a ridiculous amount of cardboard boxes with bills and outdated tax forms dating back to the last century. What I could, I gathered and donated to Salvation Army and Out of the Closet. What was left, I took to Shred Works. And, they made it so easy, it made me wish I started long ago. Carload #1 was the papers. Shred Works charged a surprisingly low fee for their disposal (so low, I didn't rate $$-wise for the Yelp discount). Trip #2 was for the computers and cables. And final trip #3 was for all the other computer accessories and batteries. It's important to share that #2 and #3 were E-cycling, for which Shred Works charges ZERO $. That includes the destruction of your hard drives (there's a minimal fee if you want to see them destroyed live, if you tread cautiously in the cyber realm.) They offer pick-up services as well, but for what I had, visiting them was easy. Seriously, they made it a snap. Friendly, helpful staff willing to lug your heavy items from car to oblivion. An extra bonus: Wish I had a pic to share, but take a peak inside their warehouse. Shredded paper bales piled side by side in stacks of epic heights. It's like some futuristic cityscape. For yourself, and for the environment, I can't recommend the folks and services of Shred Works enough. If not today, perhaps as a New Years resolution? Open Saturday as well as M-F read more

When another "Shed-it" company will be nameless couldn't step up to their agreement. Shred Works was to the rescue ! For my work I needed to quardinate 80 large banker boxes to be shreded. I had made set up a day for another company to do this work on a Thursday. All my boxes where nicely in a bay area ready for the pick up that morning. When I call to confirm they said "We have truck issue and couldn't be out till Monday" OMG.... I called a few different places ... then called Shred Works !! I need this done like today. The nice gentelman James was extremely cooprative and would make some call to see if this could be done today. He called me back within 20 minutes. I love a company that has that CAN DO ATTITUDE ! James made this happen for me. My truck pick up was here within 2 hours to pick up my bulk 80 boxes. The Young man Doante was my driver and mover. He was very nice, experienced and has the most excellent customer service. Shred works you have a great emplyee right here. With in 15-20 minutes my boxes where loaded up, As a courtesy they even took some old printers we had. !!! My invoice was faxes over... the bill was paid... and all my worries are gone. I seriously recommend Shred Works for any company, or just person that needs bulk items to be shreded. Price was they are very cheep. Used them for shredding service. Tried calling but both numbers kept giving me a busy signal. Shredding was piling up. Went with another company because couldn't reach anyone at Shred Works. Called to have them pick up their bin. Was kept holding over ten minutes. Tried e-mailing customer service. Been about a week and no reply. They rectified the situation and resolved my inquiries. Even though I've gone with a different company, I'd say they get the job done. Word to management at Shred Works: 1. When conducting company-wide phone updates, ensure calls are routed to a dispatch. 2. Indicate on your website your phone difficulties. That way, in cases like mine, we don't panic because we're not getting through to anyone. 3. Notify customers in advance that phone systems will be down via e-mail 4. It can happen to any good company, but the phone is key to ensuring the continued health and growth of the company. 5. May you experience good success. read more

I had several boxes of old payroll documents, business checks, receipts, as well as personal financial statements that I needed shredded. The cross cut, 3 pages at a time home shredder just did not cut it, so to speak. Found Shred Works on Yelp and appreciated all the excellent reviews. There was also a $10 for $20 coupon purchase available which I took advantage of. When I arrived at Shred Works the process was easy and convenient. I only wish that I could have watched my documents and receipts shredded in person instead of via a video camera feed. They did however provide me with a receipt verifying that all my documents were destroyed. Will use them again whenever I accumulate too much sensitive paperwork that will overload the home shredder. read more

I took a box full of paperwork today for shredding. I couldn't use the deal I purchased cause I only had one box so needed to use a card to pay. The representative led me to the back, leaving my box full of personal information in the lobby with another customer. I realized after we walked through the door that I should've brought my box with me in order to keep my information secure but I didn't. my personal information was left in a very open, unsecured environment with a strange person in the room. I was greeted when I got out of my car & was offered assistance with getting my documents out of the trunk of my car.
