Went far above and beyond to get me the perfect watch. They have my business for life. This review is long overdue. I was shopping for my first luxury watch and I fell in love with the Breitling Superocean Heritage 38, which had been discontinued 5+ years. I knew that I was only going to be able to find it used, if at all, and began my search. I contacted every luxury watch jeweler in Hawaii (where I was living), Texas (where I was moving to), and Connecticut (home), plus all the big-name chains that sell Breitling watches, to no avail. Even the Breitling outlet in New York, the only one in the U.S., told me it was going to be nearly impossible to find. No luck on the grey market either. Of all these jewelers, Shreve, Crump & Low is the only one that continued to try and locate a SOH 38 for weeks after my initial call. George was determined to find me another watch I loved no matter what and really took the time to talk to me about my specific style and function preferences, so he could pick out other watches to show me next time I was in Connecticut. When I finally made it into the store, I was greeted by Brad who had been helping George with my case. Brad decided to make one last-ditch effort to locate a SOH 38 while George showed me the other watches he picked for me. I cannot say enough good things about how honest, friendly, knowledgeable, and professional these gentlemen are. I was all set to buy a Hublot when Brad came back and informed me that Breitling was sending a new, yes NEW, Superocean Heritage 38 to Shreve, Crump & Low for me. It's unbelievable that they were able to get me that watch at all, nonetheless brand new. I still smirk every time I put it on or receive a compliment. read more

Yes, my review is as good as it gets. I had seen a ruby pendant on the internet. That provided the contact to Shreve Crump & Low. The pendant I ordered was not exactly what I had been looking for, but when I returned it to the store (I live only about 1 hour by car away), I noticed other jewelry on display. Not only did the staff lead me into their "sanctuary" vault and showed me the most amazing jewelry you can think of, we also settled on - what I still think is a very good deal - for some very different ruby/diamond jewelry. The deal just sounded too good to be true, giving the price I paid and their appraisal of replacement value. So, after I got the goods from "Taxachusetts" to "tax-free" New Hampshire, I gave the items to another, very well respected jeweler for a totally independent appraisal. Guess what: the difference in appraisals was well within any margin of error. In addition, the bracelet was way too long for my very fine-boned wife, so I had SC&L remove 2 links - and turn them into earrings. No problem, and the result is simply spectacular. I just had a great time buying a watch at the Greenwich branch of Shreve, Crump & Low. The salesperson, Yuko, was knowledgeable about the particular brand, as well as patient and attentive through 3 appointments. The floor manager, Brian, jumped in every time his own expertise was useful. The store even went to the effort of bringing in a particular sample from the Boston store, to aid in the selection. Personally, as a design professional that well knows the subjective nature of guiding people through a selection process, I found that they were particularly good in helping me make the best choice; one that I will enjoy for years to come. I was looking to buy a watch as a gift and had no idea where to start. Luckily for me, Brad was awesome to work with and helped break it down so that I could make an informed decision without being overwhelmed by too many choices. Even though my budget was very modest, I still received the attention that I would expect had I been buying one of Shreve's six-figure watches. I was a little nervous about committing, but Brad gave me a really good deal and the option to return if it didn't work out--so I felt zero pressure. It had 3 extenders, but at the shortest length - 18" - it was still too long. I asked that the whole section of 3 extenders get moved up to be shorter. We agreed on the length I would like the shortest extender in the chain to be - 15". I explained that this would be perfect, as I could then have the options of the extender lengths - 15", 16", 17". I would not have a chance to try it on with my dress before the wedding, so I needed these options as I did not know what length would look best. I explained all this to the associate. On Thursday, I picked up the necklace and they had not done what I asked. They had simply added one extender at 15". This meant my options were 15" (very short) or 18", 19", 20" (all too long). I did not have the in between options I asked for. The associate was defensive and said she had done what I asked for and that I hadn't communicated well. I had talked to her for quite a while about needing the length options - she just wasn't listening it seems. She said they would redo it, but I would have to pay both times. I agreed because I needed the necklace for my wedding in two days, but was bothered she wouldn't admit the error and have it redone under the original charges. On Saturday - the day of my wedding - I was getting my hair and makeup done nearby and planned to pick it up. I got a message around 11am saying they didn't have the correction done. We picked it up and they insisted on charging $48 for the (incorrect) change they had originally made. I wore the necklace for my wedding at a different length than I wanted, and now it still needs to be adjusted the way I asked for, so as to have 3 shorter length options for the future. So I will have to take it to a different jeweler and pay to have Landsberg's work corrected. I assume that if a business is doing work related to a wedding, they will put care into it. That was not my experience. Between the error and the defensiveness, I would not recommend this place. If you decide to use their services, I suggest you draw out what you're looking for.

She said this right in front of me, laughed, and then continued the transaction. I wish I had taken my necklace back and brought it somewhere else to be fixed, but unfortunately I was caught off guard by this response. This experience was upsetting, and made me feel very embarrassed. For reference - I am in my early 20's and this was my first piece of nice jewelry. I might reconsider going back to this store again after I get my repaired necklace back.
