The food is very good; however, the prices are outrageous for the small portions. For 2 adults and 1 kid we paid $80 but within 3 hours we had to eat again because we were hungry! I always get teased because I like the beach chain Shrimp Basket but I have to review them again - this time I did takeout on Orange Beach. I got the Grilled Flounder/shrimp combo. - and it was one of the best meals so far, compared to pricey stuff around. The bartender DALLAS and the host, THRISTAN were awesome, so nice and friendly. Our service was slow and unreliable..... but I must say the covd thing had just begun during our visit here. So it could have had something to do with that. My shrimp in my Shrimp Boil Platter was inedible. It was the red tiger shrimp and they were like rubber. The potatoes and corn were good though. The drawn butter served with it was ice cold. Our server told us that's how they serve it. "You serve your drawn butter cold?" I asked. "Yes" she responded. Okay that's just gross. Cold Drawn butter is horrible. The warm tuna dip was great. The white fish AYCE was great. Even though Keith didn't receive the trimmings all at once. He had to wait awhile for them. So far so bad. Long wait for table even though there were lots of tables available. We sat down 45 minutes ago and are still waiting for our food. A Basic, No-Frills, Quick Dinner/Lunch restaurant. You can roll in right from the beach and not feel out of place (you must be fully clothed/shoes). Minimal parking due to the location being in a strip mall with a few other businesses. Some parking on the side. There is a good ice cream shop one door down! It seemed there were a lot of new hires working at this time (April). The food was good, I had grilled shrimp salad, I do recommend. Most other entrees are the fried baskets with French fries. Service ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE. Waited 30 extra minutes for my To-go order that was SUPOSE to be ready at the time we arrived. NOT ONLY did we wait that long they forgot our sauces, so suprise suprise we waited another 5 minutes for them to grab our sauces. They stapled the bag but they weren't getting away with that shit. I opened the bag to my 4 ranches and 2 tarter sauces to find one of them without the top... ranch everywhere. I let that go and went home I was getting hangry. When I opened my ranch it was HALF FULL. Not only was the ranch half full the Crab claws were obviously fried in old grease. BARLEY ANY MEAT ON THEM! $50 put to waste! So after a long drive we arrived to the area very late. I went out trying to find take out, and several places told me that they stopped take out after 4. My last hope was the Shrimp Basket. First time visitor from North Carolina. The place had a big crowd for a Monday night, but we were seated within 15 minutes or so. Ordered the smoked tuna app...really enjoyed it. Just as good as Joe Patti's tuna dip! We also had raw oysters on the half shell and the Cajun shrimp platter. The oysters were amazing; fresh and briny. The Cajun shrimp were seasoned nicely enough, but the hush puppies and corn fritter were WAY over-done...almost black. Slaw was good. Our server was amazing, as were the front staff. Fresh Oysters on the Half Shell is served with horseradish, house made cocktail sauce, fresh lemon, and saltine crackers. The gulf coast has great oyster beds making the oysters slightly briny and sweet with a creamy texture and flavor. I love them just out of the shell, but I also like them with a dab of cocktail sauce and horseradish. Crab Claw Basket is hand battered and lightly fried crab claws served with their signature shrimp slaw, two hushpuppies, one corn fritter, and French fries. This is a dish I really wanted my dad to try since we can't get these types of crabs on the west coast or Hawaii. The claws are lightly fried so that the crab meat maintains its sweetness. I like them plain or with a quick dunk into the cocktail sauce. If you know how to eat artichoke leaves, the same technique works with these crab claws. I fell in love with this dish on my first visit to Orange Beach and now I get it every time I am here. Low Country Boil for Two is a platter of seasoned peel n' eat steamed shrimp piled high with Conecuh sausage, new potatoes, corn, and served with their signature shrimp slaw. There is nothing better than a low country boil! It contains everything for a great meal - perfectly steamed shrimp, juicy sausage, starchy potatoes, and sweet corn. Another seafood great is gulf shrimp. It is meaty and flavorful. The shrimp we have on the west coast is a bit bland and not very exciting. This is another food I fell in love with on my first visit and must always order it when I see it on the menu. Blackened Redfish topped with Seafood Cream Sauce is just what the name implies served on a bed of rice. We had not seen redfish on a menu before. I looked it up and it is a type of red snapper, but unlike any red snapper we have ever encountered. It has a semi-firm texture and is one of the most flavorful fish we have ever had. On the west coast, red snapper is a bottom of the bucket fish with bland flavor and sometimes fishy aroma. It almost seems that the seafood in the gulf coast are happier and tastier than the pacific coast. After the first bite, my dad was addicted to redfish. The seafood cream sauce is amazing! It would also be great on pasta, biscuits, etc. Key Lime Pie is always a great end to a seafood meal. Plus, being only 3 miles from the Florida border, it was just fitting. It has a luscious texture with that key lime flavor I yearn for, not too sour and not too sweet. The graham cracker crust was perfect, thick enough for texture and allowing the key lime flavor to be the star. read more

Overpriced food for portion size and mediocre taste at best. We had the fried pickles(not fried properly and portion size was laughable - the server said "oh, it's just because there are 3 like stuck together"), white fish tacos (potential), shrimp poboy (fair),shrimp "platter"(portion size was small and they got the order wrong) and a cheeseburger. Was looking forward to corn fritters but they were not good, hush puppies were overdone and onion rings were almost cold. It certainly wasn't worth what we paid and we won't be back. Bad thing first it took a bit to get our food but nothing too crazy long which is why 4 out of 5 stars. Food was pretty good. I got the burger with the crab cake and that was good and a rum runner which was spot on. My wife got the shrimp tacos which she said were excellent and the kids got shrimp po boy and crawfish po boy which they said tasted great. Horrible, horrible service. I had to flag down another server to bring me a beer. The hostess stayed on her phone the whole time. They've obviously got a problem attracting good employees here. Others waiters walking by avoided making eye contact. They also knew you needed something, and didn't care. And by "needed something", I mean just one refill each on drinks. We aren't high maintenance. This used to be our first stop and our favorite stop every time we came down here. Blah, we won't be back. The oysters weren't fresh at all. Pretty nasty. read more
