This is a great spot for oysters. They offer them from multiple places, but I prefer the local ones. They are salty! I enjoy sitting at the penny bar and enjoying them with a cold beer.

Had a craving for seafood and wanted to give this place a shot. There were highs and there were lows.. let's start on the positive side first: Positives: the nachos were very good.. not sure if it was a sauce or a cheese that brought the best flavor but we topped with shrimp and they were on point! Our server was so sweet and for a Thursday she was bartender and wait staff and handled herself so well.. smiled whole time and was very attentive. The place itself was very clean and I loved the decor too they also had gifts like tshirts with fun phrases. Ok now the negative: We ordered a steam pot.. the oysters were not very good . They were hard to own and they would have charged us $2 each oyster to open them. The crab legs were decent as were the shrimp that were peel and eat( really don't mind that part at all) All in all we weren't impressed with the menu and prob won't go back. We are spoiled by fresh seafood places we've gone to do keep in mind this is a chain so it's what it is.

The oysters were delicious. The crab legs were a joke. Corn was extra good. The Bloody Mary looked like muddy water and tasted awful. Waitress was so awesome though. I would not eat here again.

The Shuckin' Shack Oyster Bar is a local enterprise that has recently begun franchising. The Jacksonville location just opened so we thought we would check it out. Located next to Lowe's Foods, it is a casual and cozy restaurant with a beach decor as you might expect. The menu has many options for seafood lovers and landlubbers alike. Raw bar features catch of the day oysters (ours were from Virginia) and you can get clams, shrimp, and oysters steamed or grilled. There's also a wide selection of sandwiches and salads. We had the calamari and a dozen and a half oysters on the half shell to start. Calamari was generously portioned and properly cooked, accompanied by a sweet chili sauce. I prefer them with an aioli or a cocktail sauce but the breading and texture of the calamari was perfect. The oysters were absolutely fresh and delicious although I have a bone to pick with the shucker over the amount of shell shards I found; also there was none of the delicious oyster liquor remaining within the shell. The restaurant provides an amazing assortment of sauces at the table so can create your own custom condiments if you like. We also tried the seared ahi tuna; it was tasty and nicely seared but a bit salt heavy on the rub. Main entrees included fish and chips and a lobster roll. Cod was lightly battered and fried and the fries were plentiful. Lobster roll was unremarkable but okay. I prefer the rolls from Joe Loves Lobster Rolls. The hushpuppies on the side were somewhat dark when they arrived and I thought they might have been burned but after tasting them they seemed just fine. Service was reasonably attentive although the kitchen struggled to keep up with the dining room. I heard another diner loudly complaining of a long wait for food. I think that the issues are not fatal and are fixable. We'll have to visit again soon to see how they respond to the challenges of starting up, but I think there's a lot of promise here and will become a local highlight for real seafood.

This was quiet an experience. To start out the wait was around 35 minutes, this place was packed but had plenty of parking. Once we got our seats the server was right their taking our order. She was very friendly and kind. We had ordered crab dip, clam chowder and crab balls for the appetizer. The crab ball we great the dipping sauce with a bit of spiciness which was nice. Clam chowder was on point, very good. The crab dip was very sweet and seemed to have too much mayonnaise in it. Out of four people that tried it at my table noone liked it very much and thought to much mayo and sweet. We had order our main entrees which we a kids shrimp plate with hushpuppies, 14 raw oysters, 1/2 lb of cajun shrimp and 1 1/2 lb of snow crab, parmesan garlic oysters and fish tacos with fries. The raw oysters we very fresh and you have to shuk them yourself. Only downside they were suppose to be chilled and they came out very warm. The cajun shrimp was very fresh but the cajun flavor didnt really stick but still fresh. The snow crab was really good, fresh and perfect. We didnt receive our parmesan garlic oysters and after telling our server they brought out jalapeno oyster and we had to tell them again they were wrong. Eventually they brought out the correct ones. Unfortunately we never received our kids order of fried shrimp and hushpuppies. We dont know what went wrong but our server wrote it down initially but then didn no put it in or something. Lucky enough we got enough food to share with the little one so he didnt go hungry. I was really upset and they never apologized. The owner nor any manger came to ask how our experience was which was a surprise since they just opened a few days ago. They did overall a good job for being newly opened but I still was upset with not receiving food. Hopefully another trip here once it's been opened longer sill be better since my wife loves oysters and this is the only place in town to get them.

Wowzas y'all! I almost didn't post this because I ain't trying to have every one and there brother in our new Seafood spot but dang. We got 2lbs of crab legs, 2 sides, 2 beers and Sweet Tea for $55!!!! The 2lbs of crab legs and 2 sides are we're on special today for $42. Dang fair prices if you asked me! It was super delish as well. Only reason we didn't give a 5/5 is because we waited about 20 min for our food and it was not busy at all. But even that wasn't a huge deal because of the amount of crab legs we had!! Super cute atmosphere seems like it would be really fun to watch a game or UFC fight there as they even had TVs in the bathrooms we will most definitely be going back again!!!

    Blue Point Oysters

The Blue Point oysters and calamari were really good. However, the low country boil was mediocre at best. I think they should have kept it in the bag and boiled it longer and then served it out of the bag instead of putting it on a plate.

Definitely not fresh shrimp and lightly tossed in expensive blackening seasoning on half a sub roll.

Everything--from the atmosphere to the execution--is top tier. But what really sets you apart is your attention to detail and genuine care for your customers. Our waitress tonight, Kaila, was absolutely phenomenal. She picked up on something most people would overlook--I don't use straws--and brought my drink without one, without me even having to ask. That may seem small to some, but to me, that level of awareness and intentional service speaks volumes. It's those little things that create unforgettable experiences and separate good businesses from truly great ones. Kaila absolutely crushed it tonight, and it's clear your team is operating at a very high level. Keep doing what you're doing--you've built something special.

I could taste no blackening seasoning and the portion of meat in the pasta was incredible light. A colleague had the shrimp and grits and he said they were really good. My third colleague had the weekly special - pesto ziti. He said the meatballs were good, but the rest of the dish lacked flavor. The inside of the restaurant is divided into two with a large bar / lounge area that looked inviting. The dining side was comfortable, but dated. I would absolutely give them another try next time I'm in Jacksonville.

We enjoy coming on Tuesdays for the pizza deal. Today we ordered the shotgun shrimp appetizer, a side salad, and the 33 Deluxe small pizza. Of course the pizza was delivered after we finished our appetizers. The pizza was great. Our server, EmilyB, was great. Always positive and smiling. We also noticed Japanese baseball was on. Didn't expect that honestly. This restaurant always has an active and vibrant atmosphere. There's seating for all types and television screens everywhere. During football season, this place is packed! The reviews are all over the place. We have always had a good experience here. If you're unsure about trying Bubba's 33, I recommend giving it a try. But we also want good food and service. We didn't find any of that here. Some great effort and details on the pirate theme, all the way down to the door knobs in the bathrooms. There are fun pirate statues around the dining room, great for selfies. And there are skeletons and much sailing masts and sails hanging from the ceiling. But it ends there, the staff is not really engaged with the theme, no costumes or pirate accidents. Thats ok too, but we felt the staff was just over worked and too few of them. I would give them a 4 for the decor effort. The food. It was just okay, and really expensive. Priced like it was some destination themed restaurant hitting all the marks but it did not. We don't mind paying top dollar for a great meal. But this was lunch and with no alcohol (we don't drink) are bill was almost $90 for lunch. I had ordered the dry rub winds for an app. Anywhere in the world that means a dry rub on a fried or rarely baked wing and no batter. What I was saved was a chicken nugget like you'd buy in. a bag at the grocery store with maybe a tiny bit of chili powder mixed into the batter. There was no dry rub no the nuggets simply were not very good. My wife ordered a bowl of soup and ribs on the side. She liked the ribs and tangy sauce. The chicken soup had peppers in it which she can't eat. The menu said just like Mom used to make, dies your mom put peppers in her chick soup, not table pepper but actual peppers. I ordered a double cheeseburger and fries. The fries were ok. The waitress asked me how I wanted the meat, from rare to well done. I asked for medium rare, that should have some pink inside and be juicy. I received a well don burger with dried out and tasteless meat. It was served so hot that it melted through the tomato and bread on the bottom. It also came with an onion ring. That was cold limp and dripping with oil. A real disappointment for a $17 dollar burger. Last was the drink, I ordered a diet soda, it tasted like those suicide drinks 8 year old boys make when they take a little of each drink at the soda fountain to be funny and then won't drink it because it was gross.

I figured hey, let's go grab a bite and a beer. Why? Because this place has always been wonderful. The food, the staff, the looks. This time was very different. We step into the restaurant and there is not an employee to be seen. There are about 4 tables of people that have nothing but drinks on the table and no food. We sat at the bar and waited. As we sat and waited I noticed that the place was not very clean now and the bar seemed to be a bit of a cluster. I watched as the other people that sat in there got no service or food after the drinks they already had. We had 2 of what I think were employees come out to the bar and grab some items and walk to the back. All they did was stare at us. Not a word was said. We sat for 10 minutes waiting at the bar. We never got a hi, another look, or anything. I believe that I could have probably gotten my own stuff. I do not like to give low ratings for places, especially when they have always been great. This time though, they deserve this. I do not know what happened to the once great staff that was there but Applebees, you need to do better here. It would seem that the staff is not taken care of or there is no existence of management in the location. Once the bypass begins going through, I hope you all get it right. I know that I cant change anything alone, but I can let others know that the experience has changed at this location and it just is not good anymore. When we finally got our drinks, the strawberry lemonade wasn't great it tasted like strawberry syrup mixed with water. I asked for lemons to help balance it out & my hubby requested another one with less syrup, which ended up being fine. Took a while for our waitress to come get our food order so when we did get our appetizers our main course was already coming out and the front desk guy was embarrassed cause we had no time . Didn't get a chance to take a pic of our meals cause that's how fast it all came out together . The food, however, was good no complaints there. The wonton tacos were really good, just a bit on the sweet side, but the lemon helped. Overall, the food was solid, just slow service.
