    Eggs Benedict with scrambled egg

Lovely brunch spot with cute drinks! This location is so much better than the Cambridge location, and the food was so good! The banana bread was crispy without being burnt and the eggs were delicious. The portion sizes are really generous, too. If I was able to wfh, I would take advantage of their wfh food/drink option. Service is really quick and everyone was so nice!

After a great WFH experience at Shy Bird Fenway, I was excited to visit their Southie location. The bar was set pretty high by Fenway so I was left mildly disappointed. Everyone at the Fenway location was super welcoming and friendly, and our server was attentive and went above and beyond. Compared to our experience at Southie, where the hostess seemed like she couldn't care less about being there. There was only one server when we came in around 11am on a Tuesday, and she was also making drinks so it took a while for us to be able to place an order. I got the Chicken Shawarma Pita, which was decent for a non-Mediterranean restaurant. It came with a huge side of fries, which were nice and crispy. After trying both their WFH breakfast and lunch menus, I'd probably only come back for breakfast. The space itself is large and has a lot of natural sunlight. It was thoughtful of them to close some of the shades when the sun got too bright though. There are also clean restrooms, fast wifi, and outlets spread out around for easy access.

What a Southie staple! Shy Bird is probably my FAVORITE brunch spot in the Southie/Dorchester area. Easy parking, quick service, delicious drinks, and solid food-- what more could you want?! Food: - 5/5 brunch- everything's great! - 3.5/5 dinner- unfortunately, one of my two dinner experiences had two cold and over-salted dishes, but I look forward to coming back to upgrade this score to the 5/5 this brunch staple spot deserves. Price: 4/5- Boston's pricy, but this place isn't what's breaking the bank. Ambiance: perfect group, one-on-one date, or solo brunch spot. Service: 5/5! Protip: Check out their bottomless coffee deals and Seated discounts!

Eastern Standard Pretzel & Veggie Power Grain Bowl

Got Shy Bird delivered and it was pretty good! Easy to order off the Toast App. The prices were a bit expensive, but the portions are generous. I enjoyed the grain bowl a lot - they didn't skimp on the soybeans, carrots or grains. The main issue was the pesto was a bit too oily, so it's easy to get tired of it. Their pretzel sticks are so yummy! The pretzels themselves were soft & fluffy - perfectly complimented with some honey mustard. Would definitely order again :)

The first time I tried shy bird it was so good but the second time was not great. I got the Calabrian chicken Caesar wrap with a side of fries and my friend and I shared the sauce flight. I was super excited to try the wrap after seeing a lot of reviews on TikTok and it was okay. It lacked a lot of flavor for me but the chicken and lettuce inside were good. The fries had rosemary on them which was super fragrant and overpowering. I wouldn't order that again. The sauces in the sauce flight seemed to be watered down. In terms of service, we were helped right away but after our food came our server forgot about us. We didn't get any napkins, forks or knives and it took a long time to pay the bill. The first time I went to Shy Bird it was amazing and the food was so tasty so I'm not sure what happened this time around.

Always a great time when we go - quick service very friendly staff and delicious food! You would think that their specialty is chicken but they do everything else well too! One of our favorite dishes is the fried rice! We've tried a lot of the dishes on the menu and most of them are always a surprise how much flavor is packed into them! So happy to have this gem in the neighborhood! The ambiance is great for a date night or casual outing with a toddler - staff was so friendly and understanding of dealing with a messy baby hah!

Love the outdoor patio and the great service. Water was quick and the server was very attentive. The only parts that disappointed me, was the size of the half chicken. I felt like it was separated from my mother too early. Also, the wine selection was quite thin. I will go back and give it another try.

Amazing. Their menu revamp was so incredibly done and I was so obsessed with so many of their dishes. The inside is just the perfect aesthetic and our server was beyond incredible. The fried artichokes was probably my favorite bite of the day. The close second was their phenomenal take on tuna crispy rice. The picture speaks for itself but it was AMAZING. It was a light breading and was served with their pecorino ranch which is so good I could drink it. Their Smashburger was amazing and their chicken dunks always hit the spot. The warm toffee cake was PERFECT

Was looking forward to this place based on the reviews, but it was unmemorable. The waiter was pleasant but failed to write down our orders and ended up screwing up one of the entrees. I'll never understand why waiters refuse to write down orders when they're dealing with a larger party. Certainly not impressing anyone by messing up the orders and making people wait forever. The food was just ok. Did not care for the Mediterranean salad. The crispy chicken was pretty good. The burgers were alright, The pasta was meh. The outdoor seating is a nice option, but if it gets rowdy in the neighborhood, you'll be right in the middle of it. Street parking was fairly easy.

    "Rotisserie chicken" cauliflower
    Paul O.

Ordered the "rotisserie chicken" cauliflower to go. It took a little longer than expected but it was well worth it. I've been vegetarian for nearly 30 years and it's the best cauliflower I've ever had. They also offer an Impossible smash burger but I will forever order this cauliflower on future visits to Shy Bird. Their cocktails and service are outstanding as well.

If you're looking for a primo poultry experience, then this place simply can't be beat. Here are the highlights: Food: Shy Bird has a great menu, from sandwiches to salads and grain bowls. The chicken, of course, is the star of the show. Drinks: Whether you're in the mood for a classic cocktail or looking to try something new off they have a creative drink menu. Staff: A+ The service really does add a layer of charm to the overall experience. Everyone I've interacted with is super friendly and fun. Atmosphere: Whoever said 'business and pleasure don't mix' obviously never visited Shy Bird during weekday work hours. They've introduced a "Work from Shy Bird" concept where they roll out three different menus, offering everything from an all-you-can-drink coffee to lunch specials and an after-work drink option. I've never seen this concept before, and trust me, it's an interesting take on the traditional work-lunch scenario. They have a Happy Hour which they call "Shy Hour." As you might be aware, Happy Hours aren't allowed in Massachusetts, but Shy Bird cleverly interprets this with a competitively priced menu that's a great value for an after-work drop-in. The $3.50 beer does comes in a smaller glass. IMO, Shy Bird is an ideal spot for a mid-day meal or a relaxed dinner with friends. I'd confidently give it a four out of five stars. So fly on over...you won't be disappointed!

    Work menu

Stopped by to get a bite and some work done on a weekday morning. The fried chicken sandwich was absolutely delicious - so juicy and crunchy. In terms of a place to work, it's a decent setup with good wifi and even printing. Lots of space to spread out and outlets everywhere. Outdoor seating as well if you want sun. It was empty the entire morning and started to pick up when the lunch crowd started coming in. The music and background noise wasn't too loud so you can take calls. The service was nice as they would check in on you but left you alone for the most part. They also have this special Work from Shybird set up that I didn't try out since I didn't need coffee and wasn't planning on staying too long. Seems like a good deal if you were planning on doing lunch and coffee anyways.

    chicken and waffles
    Lauren S.

I stopped by for some brunch and coffee with a friend. While the vibes inside were great and everyone was very nice, the service was a bit slow as they only had 2 servers. My friend ordered the chicken and waffles which were a good size and very yummy. I got the crepe with a side of smashed potatoes. The crepe was hard and not quite bland. The potatoes were crispy, yet lacking salt or much flavor at all. The iced vanilla latte was good but nothing special. I would maybe return to get a coffee and "work from home" but I was a bit disappointed with the food.

But I'm actually writing about the company's website and phone recording. Once, on a prior holiday, and today due to a winter storm, I wasn't sure if the restaurant was open. In both cases (where the restaurant turned out to be closed), the website (appropriately) didn't allow online orders, and (more importantly) THE OUTGOING PHONE RECORDING WAS UPDATED WITH CURRENT INFORMATION. In an era where businesses barely have phone numbers to call, or employees who answer with something other than 'hello', is rare (and by the way, this is the fault of management if they don't properly train their staff). It was the gold standard for a real sandwich in the city. Sadly, the magic has faded. Between the soaring prices and the shrinking portions, the value just isn't there anymore. You can taste the "corner-cutting"--the flavors aren't as bold as they used to be, and the sandwiches feel noticeably smaller even though the cost has increased exponentially - I mean $30 for a sammy?! It should have gold in it! Even then, I'd keep coming once in awhile if the service was worth it. but honestly - the staff seems burnt out even bright early in the morning. It's hard to justify the premium price for a shadow of what this place used to be.

Italian Sub: $20 for a foot long, the meat was so plentiful it's almost overflowing, enough for two meals. The prisciutto was tender and juicy; the salami was firm and savory with a strong smokiness. Both are thinly sliced, so despite the thick stack, it was relatively easy for a bite. The provolone cheese was also generously portioned, with a robust yet not spicy flavor and a subtle nutty aroma, perfectly complementing the two meats. The olive oil and balsamic vinegar were particularly outstanding: mellow, tangy, and with a fruity aroma of grapes, key to the complex flavor profile. The lettuce, tomatoes, and onions were all fresh, especially the onions were refreshing and a little zingy, perfect for removing the greasiness. Unfortunately, I was worried about not being able to roll it back up properly and making it inconvenient to carry (which it actually happened), so I took it away and ate it at the office. After about 40 minutes, the bread had become somewhat dry and hard.
