Granted, I ordered takeout so maybe dining in is better quality but I was not wowed by any of the food. It was completely empty on a Friday night when I went to pick up my food. The vodka rigatoni was bland and dry with minimal sauce and the chicken parm, while well-seasoned/salted, was tough with a tiny bit of flavorless mozzarella and came with buttered but dry pasta. I've dined at Carbone and thought they were just ok. I was hoping Parm would restore my faith and blow me away, but it's not worth the price. Honestly, a jar of Carbone sauce on some homemade pasta beats this and it's half the price. I'm glad I finally tried it, but I don't plan on returning. read more

We were staying at the Marriott Copley and wanted pasta, but for some reason this place didn't pop up on our Yelp search. It wasn't until we walked past it that we discovered this place. We ate here after walking 20 miles around the city and it was everything we wanted. The pasta tasted so fresh and delicious. The garlic bread was so good we ended up ordering a second. And the cannolis were a perfect ending. My friend loves cannolis and has had many in her life and she declared these to be one of the best she's had. I took my students to Boston from New York for a conference at Harvard. 18 of us ate there. The staff were very nice and efficient. They were very accommodating so this isn't about them. The food was very bland and unseasoned EXCEPT for the Caesar Salad which was over seasoned. Everyone in my group who ate the Caesar salad got food poisoning that night. While they were both very nice... the General Manager and our Waiter both lacked severely on the service side. We had to wait about 15 minutes before being seated (the restaurant was not at all busy) and then another 10 minutes before the General Manager finally noticed that no one had come to our table as of yet. When we finally got our order in the food was delivered but there was no tableware or napkins and we had to wait yet one again for our waiter to retrieve them. Love that they opened a Parm in the Back Bay after enjoying a few meals at their first MA location in Burlington. This is sort of a compact version of Parm. The smallish dining room is comfortable. It feels like a bit of a secret spot since it's tucked away at the base of the elevator where you exit to the train station across the street... the Neiman Marcus side of the mall. The chow is excellent. I love the apps... tonight we had the Tomato Bruschetta, fantastically fresh and flavorful tomatoes, cheese, basil on excellent bread. Also, the Pizza Knots served piping hot with fantastic red sauce. My son loves the Veal Parm and I had the Lemon Garlic Chicken for the first time. Both Excellent! The sides of Spicy Rotini and the Brussel Sprouts are highly recommended. Gelato to share for desert... so good. Service is excellent. Our servers were attentive and personable. The kitchen timing was perfect... which was nice to see considering they haven't been open very long. The Managers here, Reggi and Patrick, set the tone for excellence. Picture this, it's 12 degrees out with a windshield of negative 5. You just finished shopping - now disoriented from the 3 story mall - starving from the lack of food options inside the mall. You settle on an Italian restaurant looking forward to a warm, hardy, fulfilling meal only to be met with the subpar food Parm confidently serves. A classic Cesar salad shouldn't be hard for a "famous Italian" restaurant, but evidently it is. The salad left little to desire and didn't satisfy the lasting need that I walked into this restaurant with and undoubtedly walked out with. Hm. The food is good, albeit overhyped for the whole experience. This location was really not busy at all for a Friday evening. The restaurant across the way was super busy, but Parm had ample seating in and outside. I would mostly attribute this to the location, it's a little tucked away and tricky to find. The service was ok, just a bit slow. We ordered a bunch of different things, and some were great, others good. Arancini: Very good, usually don't find pesto inside arancini, so it's a little fun. 9/10 Garlic bread with burrata: I wish the bread was a littttttle bit bigger, just because it's very good (and the ratio of bread to burrata is a little off) 8/10 Chicken parm: I get the hype! The sauce is really good (I think it's just the Carbone marinara) but it all comes together great. Only complaint is that there is virtually no crisp to the chicken, even though it's not reallllly swimming in sauce either. It is a GIANT piece of chicken though, and made the perfect amount for two people to share. Spicy rotini: this stuff is delicious. I don't get the reviews saying it's bland, as it's really full of flavor. Only complaint was that there was a very large piece of metal in it. I know that this happens in restaurants, but this piece was just a little long for me to be able to get how no one saw it. It was about the size of a twist tie, 2 inches or so, but completely metal. We informed the server, he took it away, the manager brought us a fresh bowl, and then we were comped for one of the appetizers (we didn't ask for this so it was nice of them). So, the situation was rectified, but it's just not something I can overlook. This place has such good food and potential, but I feel like it's just not living up to its own standards.
