a plate of chicken wings and a bowl of sauce

Great cozy thai restaurant right off the highway. Friendly staff and delicious food. Amazing gra prow chicken - one of the best. Chicken satay is served off-stick and was a little too sour tasting from the coconut milk in the marinade. The flavor did get balanced with the cucumber sweet sauce that comes with it though.

The food is great. The staff is very pleasant. We get take out because they don't have a bar. We have had 3 takeouts, all great!

Finding ourselves down in Portsmouth then Kittery this was the perfect spot to stop into for lunch…read more No wait for a spot and we decided to enjoy two of the window seats. They had a good mix of seating, with the mentioned window seats, bar seats, and tables. The staff were all friendly and service was extremely fast. Very impressive how quickly they brought our food out. Speaking of food, so many of the food options sounded good and we would definitely return to try more. My wife ended up getting the Duck Yuzu Shoyu Ramen and said it was the best ramen she has had. I had the Duck Yakisoba and was blown away as well. Especially comparing to some other similar spots they did not skimp on the duck at all. Along with that it was packed with flavor and both dishes were reasonably priced! If you are looking for a ramen/noodle spot this is a must-try!

They offer a variety of ramens and phos as well as some curry dishes and salads. My wife had their curried shrimp and green salad which were very good. The salad was excellent and the shrimp plump and spicy. I had their barbecue pork bun and was tempted by their ramens but went for the daily special of a duck pho. The pork bun was okay, having a different flavor profile than what I was expecting from usual Chinese pork buns. The pho, unfortunately, was a little disappointing: while the duck itself was good, lean and tasty, the broth was almost tasteless. Addition of their house hot sauce didn't improve it (maybe needed the real sriracha!). And - I got a stomach ache right after the meal (maybe from the raw bean sprouts?). Anyway, wished I'd gone with the ramen ... So some dishes were very good, some need work imo. We'll try it again - I haven't been put off by the experience tbh. Staff is very pleasant and friendly. The restaurant is clean and while a little on the small side, seating was comfortable and pleasant decor.

Service was very good, but we were early and alone for part of the meal. The food was all good, some better than others depending on who was eating it. But I think what message I would pass on is that you can expect a twist with many of the items, which if you want same old, might not thrill you. ON THE BRIGHT SIDE, it gave me a "Ratatouille" moment where I was forced to rethink how I felt and thought about some dishes where I was forced to face the rut I have been living in, and I enjoyed it. The Kung Pow Chicken I found of particular interest, it was made using larger chucks of vegetables and a slightly lighter sauce. It had the standard Chicken and celery, but it threw in just a few red and green peppers, and in place of the usual Water Chestnuts, it VERY successfully substituted perfectly cooked and crunchy zucchini, and was fun and enjoyable. If I didn't love my water chestnuts, I wouldn't have missed a thing. It also had some of the best distributed "Pow", just a good smooth low heat, steady, which wouldn't drive anyone but a child to the water tap. The Pork fried rice was not a white or dark usual, It was a yellow/saffron like presentation, which liked a little sauce added to it (and I like a little mustard as well), with a good dose of Pork chucks, and sparse on the onions and sprouts. If you want something out of the normal, it's probably worth your time to explore a couple things and be prepared a twist might be tossed onto the table. Don't know how often it happens, but I was 2 for 2 on what I ordered. And the vegetable lo mein contained a good dose of vegetables with the noodles, which I thought was great. My noodle fan of a daughter was a little less enthusiastic. Hahaha

Excellent Thai street food and dim sum at Bangkok Street Thai Kitchen in Portsmouth!…read more The inside is kept nice and cool during a hot summer's day with rather dim lighting, so doing my Yelp thing and shooting photos required two phones. One for light, and the other took the pictures...! I ordered the pork and shrimp shumai, which arrived with a nice soy based sauce, crispy garlic, and fresh cilantro. The wrappers were delicate and the filling well-seasoned. When I asked about egg fried rice with Lap Cheong (sweet Chinese sausage), the kitchen prepared it even though it is not listed on the menu. It turned out to be one of the best versions I have had, and my server Arisa mentioned it is also a favorite of hers and her husband's. The Pad Kee Mao with beef (Nua) was flavorful, with wide rice noodles, fresh basil, and vegetables cooked to the right texture. The added bamboo shoots aren't normally on that dish, but a welcome addition here. Arisa was an outstanding server. She was knowledgeable, engaging, and happy to talk about Thai food traditions and family memories. The conversation made the meal more enjoyable. The restaurant's story about its Thai-Chinese roots on Charoen Krung Road comes through in both the menu and the service. Everything I tried was delicious. Highly recommend a visit if you are looking for quality Thai food and dim sum in the Portsmouth area.
