THAT is not an appropriate response by any stretch of the imagination... We ordered spicy drunken noodles among other things and when we got home the noodles were ridiculous! The entire top layer of the container was nothing but Thai bird chili peppers! No one could stomach that many peppers in one dish, not even me and I'm Thai! So when my husband calls to complain and gets yelled at by the manager! Wth? Unacceptable! Never again. They won't get any more of our money. I guess I should open up my own Thai food truck. I've had Thai food all over the Western US but nothing beats Siam Thai. Everything I order here is delicious, bold, fresh, and they've never disappointed me. Drunken noodles are very good and quite spicy. Siam Shrimp are tasty and they have this sauce I can't figure out, it's so simple and delicious. Phad Krapao, Phad Makhuer, Phad Phed, and the Panang curry are the favorites of mine that I rotate through. The staff is very kind and accommodating. When you order a spicy entree they will ask how spicy you want it and I will say that "medium spice" is probably a little hotter than most people are prepared for. I'd say that "mild" or a 2 out of 5 level is enough for a hint of heat "Full-on spicy" or Thai hot is very very spicy but I loved it and I literally left a sweaty imprint on the couch at home after I stood up hahaha. You will break a sweat but damn it's good. The food is consistently delicious. Flavors are bold. Service is friendly and accommodating. Decent beer selection. Prices are fair and portions are large. We had the red curry and pad Thai chicken noodles. Delicious and yummy. If you want it spicy request it because they tend to make it non spicy. So tell them make it spicy for you. So I've eaten at this place before. They screwed up my wife's order but mistakes happen and I let it pass. I moved to the west coast for quite some time and was pleasantly surprised that it was still here as I traveled through. I called and ordered over the phone. I said I'd like my food pretty spicy. I specified a 6 or 7 out of 10 for spice. No problem. Well when I stoped in town and picked it up I was told no return. No returns? I thought that was a very odd thing to say. Yeah. It was un edible. So spicy it made me sick. I eat spicy food all the time. I am not sensitive. I let my lady who is a chef from Portland try it. She said it was NOT supposed to be that way. And not just one dish. Everything. Even the curry. I threw away 60$ worth of food. I don't know if they were screwing with me or what. I didn't think it was strange to request a spice level at a Thai restaurant. The amount of rice given for takeout was not enough for even half of each of our meals. We had to make more at home. Traveling to Billings for work, I wanted to try Thai food. This place was listed in the visitor's guide at the hotel and it was close so I decided to try it. Being that I am from California where there are many options for Thai food, I kept an open mind given there are not too many to chose from in Billings. I had the fresh spring rolls with shrimp were adequate to poor. These are usually served with peanut sauce but instead it came with fish sauce. I asked us for peanut sauce which was brought out but the color didn't look right. I tried it using the tip of my fork and it tasted awful. I went back to the fish sauce. The shrimp used was bay shrimp and there was celery in the rolls. I suppose you can use any vegetable but the celery in my opinion ruined it. The shrimp should have been larger in size. For the main dish, I tried the eggplant with chicken. It was pretty good but I've had better. There was a lot of flavor but it was overpowered by chili paste and flakes. The place was very busy for a Thursday night and lots of people getting take out orders. Not a bad place for Billings with limited options but it definitely doesn't compare to the Thai food I get back in California. read more

Wow. Amazing - who know you could eff up Thai food so badly? This place is the worst representation of one of my top two favorite cuisines. I'd give them zero stars if that were an option. The tom ka with chicken tasted like they'd added a large handful of sugarcubes to the soup. The tom yum with shrimp tasted like dirt. The drunken noodles were heavily black peppered - something I've never encountered in that particular dish all the previous times I have ordered it elsewhere. So if your from some place that has 27 Thai options and your palette has become accustom to a certain style open your mind and just be thankful as I am that this place even exists. Third the owner of the place is classy lady who deserves a hellavu lot of credit for bringing this clean tasty style of Thai to Montana. I left Montana for 20 years living all over the country and have eaten at a lot of Thai restaurants and have eaten many different styles and takes on it. I prefer the cleaner healthy style that this place serves (think a Chipotle burrito versus the one you get at the old school Mexican place that comes under 8 pounds of cheese). Really enjoyed this restaurant. Great service, food selection, and prices. We had panang beef, which was spicy enough, and flavorful enough but had no vegetables in it. We also got pad phed which was excellent, variety of veggies and basil. Extra rice was $3/per bowl. We had a nice Chardonnay with it. Our friends' food looked great as well. What a joy to find Siam Thai in the middle of Montana! This former Bangkok girl was extremely happy ... we had spring rolls, spicy eggplant and giant (fist-sized) prawns. Everything was perfect, and the service was fine. One caveat: They have no liquor license and apparently Montana doesn't allow BYOB (buh?) so if you'd like a Singha with your meal, perhaps carryout is in order. read more

Perhaps I have been spoiled by the Thai food I have had in the San Francisco Bay Area and the Boston area, but the seafood entree I had was just okay. I tried my husband's chicken dish, and that too, was just okay. Not particularly spicy and just tasted okay, rather forgettable, I must say. Since Billings is not known for a great selection of great Asian food, I will give it 2 stars but if it were elsewhere, it would have received a 1 from me because the food is, frankly, just meh. Ate here after some sort of sandwich maker catastrophe preventing us from getting a quicker bite at Good Earth Market. We waited a long time, but think we just timed it poorly, on the tail end of a rush on a Sat night. Did the garlic giagantor shrimp, they were seriously insanely huge. Pricey, but sounded good so I went for it. Really tasty garlic sauce, shrimp were a little overcooked, but again I give them benefit of the doubt this was due to a very busy kitchen at the time. Wish there were more veggies with, they were tasty and really added alot. Bf did soft shell crab with yellow curry, I wasn't in love, but he was happy and glad he tried something different that our standard - plain ol curries. Overall I was pleased, but not sure either dish was worth 2x the cost of the curries, but I wouldn't dissuade someone else from ordering them either. I have seen more than my share of negative post regarding Sam Thai. I hadn't really had any issues other than them making mistakes on my order but I would usually catch it ahead of time and have them fix it however the last time it was done wrong twice in the restaurant and then when it was taken home the particular dish that we ordered had no chicken in it and I didn't get the spring rolls I order-mind you my teenage son was picking this up for us. So moving forward this evening I Called In my order and then pick it up and and suddenly the replacement meal that I was supposed to get turned into know we were only crediting to dollars for the issue with no chicken in near meal because you didn't bring it back-I actually did offer to bring it back and I also took a picture of it after she told me it was fine and they would replace it They wouldn't budge on this I had for people behind me so I told her just go ahead and keep the whole order then I'm not paying you for something you made a mistake on and she kind of cared less. I can tell you what I will not do is go back there again because every time we are there mistakes happened had they done the right thing on this order I would probably continue to go there but what she did tonight was just shady as hell and I remain very upset-the level of customer service there is terrible-if you have gone here and had a great experience that's awesome good for you but that was not my experience read more

Usually when I travel I eat a lot of beef jerky and Slim Jim's. But today, I got to eat some sublime beef salad and my soon-to-be wife enjoyedsome delicious pad Thai. What's funny about it, is that we tried two other Thai restaurants before we got to this one. Both of them were closed for some reason. I think it was a God thing. He wanted us to have the best Thai food in town! We arrived tired from the road about 10 minutes until noon. The restaurant was already almost full. Most of the tables did not yet have food on them, but what was out there looked delicious . The noodle dishes especially looked yummy. Kelli ordered pad Thai and it was perfect. Nice sized chunks of chicken, a spiced just right sticky sauce, peanuts, chopped green onions, and plenty of noodles. I am trying to eat Paleo, so usually I get something that has no noodles. Today, I chose the beef salad. I often eat beef salad at Thai restaurants because (a) I like it, and (b) it's good for me. Beef salad is a spicy mixture of fresh grilled beef, lettuce, and dressing made of fish sauce and rice vinegar. This dish did not disappoint me in any way. It was fresh, crisp, and the beef had an authentic flavor. I would gladly go back to this restaurant, but there is one caveat. The service was terrible. Not that the table servers were bad, in fact the waitresses were very nice and effective. The problem was were only two servers for about 30 tables. It's impossible for restaurants to serve everyone timely when there's only two people working. And work they did! But in the end, many tables were left waiting more than 30 minutes for their meals. It's a great way to kill your business. If nothing else, the restaurant should've hired at least two more two more servers for the busy lunch hour. To sum it up, the food was Excellent, tasted authentic, and was served in a pretty fashion.I would definitely go back, especially if I have more time. read more

This is the best Thai in Billings. My favorite dish is their 'tiger prawns in yellow curry', a close second is phad siew. I'd recommend trying their phad thai and drunken noodles also. Excellent food! Big servings! Prices are average to slightly less for Billings. My husband and I always order the same things, Cashew Chicken which comes over rice, and Phad Thai which is perfection!! We have never had any complaints with those dishes, they are always consistently amazing, and like double what a normal person can eat! (Yay leftovers!) We have experimented with other dishes, but always come back to those. Also the Cashew Chicken over rice is tossed in a red curry / chili sauce, which is so sooooo good. It has a little kick, but very mild. So sometimes we ask for extra to be added. You can be specific on how many times hotter you want it, and they always do it right for us. :) Dining in is a bit blah. The dining area has cheap decor, and a bit out dated....prolly just low budget I assume. So don't expect the Ritz here! And you def don't need to dress up at all. Haha. But it's still great food! And totally worth the bad tables. If you haven't tried this place...you MUST!! At least once!! read more
