The food was amazing, not over-powered by sauces like so many Thai places we have been. I had the Ginger with onions, mushrooms and garlic and steamed rice and my husband combined 2 appetizers for his meal- dumplings and chicken satay and all of our food was incredible. Siamese Bay is one of the local gems of Monterey. The owner has been there for a long time. My first must have been over 6 years ago and the food was amazing. This year, we decided to visit again, and the food was still amazing. Our server was honest and told us what most people would prefer rather than picking the most expensive dish as the best one. In total, there were five of us we shared several dishes, which I suggest you do as well when you visit. I have long desired to have some Tom Yum Kai soup and they had the best I have had in a long time. We also love Larb Nur. They do not have it, but their Larb Kai was amazing. We also had the Drunken Noodles, Green Curry, Cashew Nuts with Chicken, Eggplant with Pork, and Pad See-ew with pork, all tasted delicious. The restaurant is old because, again, it is a gem. What a great find! This place has been here almost 40 years and there were so many people that were there tonight that were regulars. They were on a first name basis with the owner. Some people have been coming here for 35+ years. I'm not sure what their secret is but I can tell you the food was PHENOMENAL!! We ordered the Hawaiian fried rice. It was not greasy and was seasoned perfectly. It had chicken, cashews and shrimp. My wife ordered the eggplant (braised) with chicken. The sauce was probably the best sauce we've tasted. Ale also had tofu spring rolls which were rolled tightly (just the way I like it). Ingredients were fresh. The peanut sauce and sweet chili sauce added another level of taste. We're so glad to have found this place. We've been coming to Monterey for the past 15-20 years for short getaways having great places to eat is a just. Highly recommend!!! read more

We were visiting Monterey and stopped here for dinner based on the reviews. Service- excellent. Cannot complain about the service. It was spot on. Food - ordered pad Thai and panang curry. The pad Thai was good but small portions. The panang curry was only decent but lacked in portions. For the price, the portions should be bigger. Personally wouldn't recommend this place. The food here is okay, not bad, not great. I found it to be a little bland and underwhelming. The customer service was the same. No one was there to greet us and there was no seat yourself sign, so it was awkward and confusing for everyone who came in. We had pad see ew and drunken noodles. The pad see ew was very bland. There was one bite that tasted like it had garlic and it was the best bite of the whole dish. The broccoli it came with tasted steamed instead of stir fried, so it had almost no flavor. The redeeming quality is that the noodles weren't oily. My husband said his drunken noodles were pretty good, but not the best. He's an easy guy to please. My diet is very limited due to health reasons, so I looked up the menu and knew what I wanted; my husband is a fan of Thai and knows what he likes. My husband starts to order, and is immediately told that they're out of that item. To give him more time to choose something else, I start my order, only to be told that they're out of spinach. Both of us disappointed now, we ordered mussels to share. They came quickly, but while the broth was good, the mussels had an odd chewy texture (a little rubbery) and not much flavor. That was it for us; we paid and left, both still hungry. The restaurant is attractive, but a place that serves food can't survive on ambience alone. read more

The service was top notch and the food was very flavorful and arrived quickly. We also got Tom Kha soup which was delicious but not pictured. It was the right balance of creamy/brothy. After his first day session he were too tired and said we can have a take out and eat at the hotel. this restaurant was on top of Thai list and we called in for and order to go ( $92). Later we arrived at the restaurant to pick the order. I saw the restaurant had good ambience and asked if we could eat in the restaurant. the above statement was from the server/owner as he referred to my son who has picked up the packed food. I paid for the food with tip and politely said that it would not be proper to eat from boxes in the restaurant and left. I was reminded of pictures in front of London restaurants during British Raj.
