It's crispy and tasty, and the curry that comes with it is so good. It's a must. I like how they cook the BBQ pork until it's tender and tasty. I usually like fatty BBQ pork, but this one is really good. The fried chicken is also juicy and crispy. I like the coconut ice cream in the dessert, but I'm not a big fan of the crispy rice. It's a little too salty but too sweet at the same time. Great service and atmosphere. They allow dogs in their patio area, and they even brought a water bowl for our dog.

First, if you order only one thing off the ala carte menu, get the French fries. They're amazing. The whole menu offering is also worthy a try - with an emphasis on combining uniquely prepared vegetables with a protein. But for me the French fries are a must not miss dish. Although there is an eclectic mix of cocktails on the menu u, the beer and wine offerings are sparse. I would imagine this is a business decision that is based on the ever growing market challenges of running a restaurant in a competitive environment like Portland with such narrow margins. The service was kind, informative and busy. We had a couple of items slip, like drink reorders, but by the by, our service was very good. The take home, go. Oma's is worth a try and I think it is all the better experience with a group so you can all share a delicious family style meal. One thing, maybe bring your own wine and pay the corkage fee.

We opted to order à la carte instead of doing the rice table, and honestly, there were so many standouts. We started with the Krupuk Chips with Peanut Sauce. The chips themselves could have used a tad more flavor, but they were perfectly crunchy -- and that peanut sauce WAS THE STAR. Rich, savory, addictive... seriously finger-licking good. The Roti Canai was another favorite. Flaky, delicious bread paired with a blistered tomato curry that completely caught me off guard in the best way. I had no idea what to expect, but WOW. The curry was punchy, coconutty, aromatic, and just packed with flavor. So good. The Charcoal Grilled Chicken Satay was such a standout dish. Beautifully smoky, flavorful, and exactly the kind of dish you keep going back for. We also tried the Chinese Sausage & Shrimp Siu Mai, which was juicy, savory, and absolutely loaded with flavor. And then the Sumatran Style Beef Rendang -- tender, soft, and beautifully flavorful. It came with clove rice that was also WOW, and the green mango sambal brought this bright, tangy element that balanced the richness of the dish perfectly. Service was prompt and friendly, and the ambiance was vibrant, lively, and fun. Overall, Gado Gado delivered BIG on flavor. So many bold, aromatic, layered dishes, and I loved how each one brought something different to the table. Definitely a memorable meal!

Gado Gado has put together a formula for creating Southeast Asian fusion that's so incredibly unique that it's hard to put words to describe it. Located in a strip mall in a non-descript portion of the Hollywood neighborhood, the restaurant really has a unique appeal about it. It has the heart of Portland beating through it, and at the same time, the plates they are pumping out are some of the most unique food one can find on the East Coast or West Coast. They offer a tasting menu and a la carte options. Just like their sister restaurants, they have a unique range of cocktails available, and an assortment of beers and wines. What really struck me about the restaurant was less about the food, more about the service. The service was so kind. I mean, really kind. The server we had, Emily, was one of the nicest people I've ever interacted with in table service. To be honest, that's more than enough to get me to go back. Oh, and the beef brisket was dreamy good.

Order from kiosk and dine at the few tables inside, or order for to-go. -The Pork & Rice (Khao Kha Moo) is simple comfort food at its best. Flavorful and pairs really well with the rice. The pickled veggies help the richness from the pork. -Super Soup was really comforting as well. It was a bit cold/rainy when we arrived in Portland so it hit the spot just right & a very generous portion as well. -The Chicken Peanut was the only so-so dish we had. Generous portion of chicken, but wished I had more peanut sauce at the end, lol. It is a simpler dish and flavor is definitely more mild compared to others. Service was really quick & space inside is a little small, but clean.

The toddler liked the food too which seals the deal. Nong's never disappoints and always makes for a quick and easy meal.

Unfortunately, I came away pretty disappointed. Everything except the pork belly was actually really good. The rice had a good texture and separate grains. The fried egg was crispy and had a nice runny yolk. The cucumbers had a nice thickness and crunch to them (could been colder though). The prik nam pla (fish sauce, chiles, maybe a little lime?) was really great -- something about the flavor really popped for me and was tasty. And everything was served hot and fresh. But the pork belly sucked, and that kinda ruined the dish for me. The fatty parts weren't melt-in-your-mouth at all. They were just chewy. The skin wasn't crispy, it also was chewy. The meaty parts weren't juicy at all, they were tough. I dunno, everything about it seemed wrong. And getting the pork belly right seems like a crucial part of the overall dish. After eating maybe 1/3 of the pieces of pork belly, hoping each time that the bad pieces were just outliers, I gave up and just pushed the rest of them to the side while I ate the rest of the dish. Oh well.

We went on a Tuesday night and the place was already packed. The server, at least on the day we went, was working OVER TIME. There was only 1 server and she operated as the bar tender, hostess, and server. I understand that its a small location but she was running and was still incredibly friendly despite the fact. The food is amazing. Everything we ordered was absolutely fantastic and we had a lot. We tried the Fire Fish Soozi, the Salmon Poke Bowl, the chicken Karaage, Garlic chicken noodles, and the Fried beef with garlic fried rice. I know a lot of the dishes have garlic in their name, just know that garlic is quite predominant flavor amongst multiple dishes. Definitely on the pricier side for starters, but the portions are decent and the flavors are good.

It also came with 3 smaller food items that we got to try and surprisingly, it's pretty reasonable at $39 per person. The nice thing is, you only get charged for one person while everyone else at your table can also try the tea. Service was good and very friendly. As for the food, it was pretty good, not out of this world but you're going for the tea and not necessarily the food (IMO).
