We decided on chicken bento box and chicken with eggplant. **chicken with eggplant-2/5- beats me how such delicious ingredients can be rendered to such a flavorless state. Added to that, all the ingredients were sitting on a pool of oil. It's dishes like this which make me feel terrible about eating out. **popcorn chicken bento box-2/5- got this for my six year old. One bite and he refused to eat it. I tried it and understood why, I had popcorn chicken at numerous places but it was never this bad. The texture was off putting and it was flavorless. I hate writing a poor review but I think restaurant owners and cooks have some responsibility towards their paying customers to serve decent food.

You're Sichuan in a Million…read more ***HIDDEN GEM ALERT*** One of the few legit, mom-and-pop run Sichuan Chinese restaurants in the Bay Area, and the flavors they're producing are fantastic. For the uninitiated, Sichuan is (obviously) a style of Chinese cuisine that relies heavily on their eponymous Szichuan peppercorns which have a unique mouth and tongue numbing sensation. The Good: *QR Code ordering but you have to pay at the counter *Friendly service *Décor and interior are a bit spartan, but it's clean and sanitary. *Large shared parking lot *Great prices as for well less than $100 we got enough food for about 4-5 meals. *Chicken Fried Noodles were superb, with the noodles being the standout part of that dish. We're not sure if they were housemade or just very high-quality noods, but regardless the taste and texture was superb. *Beef Slices Hot Bowl w/ the special dry mix was massive and filled with tons of goodies. The spice level was just right and had a nice amount of the mouth-tingling sensation to remind one what Szichuan flavors are all about. *Eggplant w/ Garlic Sauce too was a well-balanced spicy and sweet dish, with perfectly cooked eggplant--which is one of my favorite vegetables (technically a fruit but whatever). The Meh: *Pork potstickers had a decent flavor but are really dry. Some XO sauce or something would've gone a long way to bolster them up. Fortunately, there was enough sauce on the aforementioned eggplants that we used that. *No outdoor seating The Ugly: *Nothing comes to mind except if the Costco does end up in this shopping center then the parking situation could start to look a lot like Almaden Plaza. Conclusion: Run don't walk to try this place out. The flavors are fantastic and the prices are very fair. What more does one need?? Highly recommended.

You place your order through a QR code, which makes the process quick and easy. This visit, we ordered the salt and pepper chicken wings, Tidu Sliced Beef Pot, and Tianjin Eggplant. The wings are a must-order here. They're always perfectly fried and crispy on the outside while still staying juicy and tender inside. The Tidu Sliced Beef Pot reminded me of a dry hot pot. It had a great mala flavor with a subtle numbing sensation, and the peanuts added a nice crunch and texture to the dish. The Tianjin Eggplant was simple but delicious, with flavorful pork that paired really well with the soft eggplant. Overall, the food here is comforting and satisfying. It's a place I'll definitely keep coming back to.

I was missing some ingredients that were listed and wish it was more customizable but the flavor was on point (especially with the numbing flavor that gives MaLa its signature name). We also had the salted egg chicken wings, I loved how crispy they were. Absolutely the spot to come for late night eats.

You order from the QR code at the table. The star of the show was the Sizzling Cumin Potato Slices. They truly came out sizzling. The flavor was reminiscent of the 5 spice seasoning used on skewers. The potato was so crispy with a soft interior. It came with slices of what looked like pork belly too. The dish was so tasty we devoured it and ordered a second order! The sautéed lotus root with chili peppers were flavorful, mildly spicy, and has the best texture from the lotus root. Most people come here for the Spicy Chicken. This is a very forward spice but it's very addicting. Don't forget to order a side of steamed rice to help offset the spice! The house special fried noodles were surprisingly flavorful and well balanced. I'd order this dish again. It uses the same chili peppers that the spicy chicken has. All in all this is a great place to stop in for dinner! Especially if you love spicy food!

What keeps us coming back is how well they balance heat and flavor. The spice here never feels like a stunt -- it builds alongside real depth and seasoning. The Qiao Jiao Niu Rou (跷脚牛肉) is a standout -- a Sichuan-style boiled beef dish served in a rich, aromatic broth that somehow lands the spice-to-savory ratio perfectly every time. The Shui Zhu Yu (水煮鱼) is also worth ordering; the fish is decent quality, silky in texture, and the numbing chili oil broth does its job well. The restaurant ambient environment is ok and does get crowded often, but honestly that's just a symptom of being good - this place has built a real following in the South Bay. The Orchard Farms lot outside gives you plenty of parking, which takes some of the stress off a busy weekend dinner. One thing to flag: they now auto-include an 18% gratuity on the bill by default, so keep that in mind when you're reviewing the final check. It's easy to miss and double-tip if you're not paying attention. Factor it into your budget upfront and you'll have no surprises.

Ordered three dishes to share amongst three people: Stir Fried Smoked Beef with Garlic and Pepper, Steamed Pork Belly with Dried Pickles, Yunnan Mushroom Dish (don't recall the English translated name). The stir fried smoked beef with garlic and pepper was the best item we tried. The beef was smoky, and reasonably authentic for hunan cuisine. Okay amount of spice as well. Note - the beef is chewy and tough, but that is how it is. The steamed pork belly with dried pickles was different from what we were expecting since it usually has a salty preserved vegetable taste, and not spicy. In addition, some pieces of the pork belly were also dry. The Yunnan mushroom dish was a mix of mushrooms which wasn't really a stir fry but wasn't dry either. It was fine. Around our table - we saw that lots of folks were ordering a mushroom dry pot and the griddle fish. Will be back again to try those dishes.

I would say the atmosphere is not the best place to discuss business, but personal conversations are fine. With several companies nearby, it does get busy and load during weekday lunch.
