Be going here for years but I think they've had a change of ownership. Very disappointed on how they treated me as a regular customer. This is twice now where the woman behind the counter was very rude to me. Guess they don't need my business. read more

I would give a 4 but some of the prices are crazy. Also not all prices listed on the pastry in the case. Cannolis are good. Their zeppole filling is on point. (And I've tried many locations) but I wish their shell was baked not fried. Eclairs have a crispy proper shell. Called ahead for foccaccia on Fathers day. Tomato was clear winner out of the offerrings. Asked for the spinach got a meat arrancini. Was just alright. Sandwiches listed as reasonable price (5.50 for an Italian) I probably will stop in one day to see if their lunch meats are legit. read more

The best Italian bakery in Chicago. I remember coming to this bakery as a child with my parents and now frequent it myself with my husband and son. Everything in their bakery is delicious from their bread, pastries, and cakes. We always get our son's bday cake here also and it's wonderful. We just had it this past weekend and everyone loved it. The owner and staff do not understand that due to COVID, they need to enforce the precautions given through public health. The owner stated that he will not enforce masks and will not restrict the amount of people in his bakery. He stated that as long as he's protected that he doesn't care. Poor attitude, poor service and not worth dealing with them. Eventually his practices will catch up with him. He only cares about the bottom line and not about his customers. Please beware. BTW they display bread on the counter where others can touch it, cough on it, etc. they do not care about cleanliness and the risks their practices pose on others. Disgusting place. read more

Sadly, I wish I could have had the same orgasmic reaction to the Sicilian Bakery's offerings like some of the other reviewers, but to me, everything was just...OK. I guess it may have to do with my exceptional pickiness or my Sicilian heritage, but there are certain things I just insist upon having knock me out and sadly, Sicilian Bakery wasn't doing it for me. The cannoli are small and thin, which I could deal with, but the overpowering sweetness was a real turn off. It was like the sugar coated your mouth to the point where you could taste no other flavour, except sweet, sweet, sugary sweet. Have you ever wanted to become an instant diabetic from just one bite of a dessert? You just might after one of these! The bread I bought was fresh and decent, but without much of a crunchy crust. The tiramisu was a soggy nightmare. It was soaked in something, probably just sugar water, since there was no other discernable taste to it aside from the heavy, waxy whip cream topping. The one thing that did please me was the iced lemon cookies (Anginetti). These were a perfect size, light, airy, and perfectly flavoured. Not too sweet, not too bland. I am glad these were so good, because I have to make a second trip here. When I got there it was less than an hour before they were to close and I noticed they sell pizza, sandwiches and focaccia to order. Of course it was too late that day but it still intrigues me to see how good these are. OK Sicilian Bakery, you have a second chance. I utilize this bakery for all my kids birthdays. The owners are very friendly and have made my kids happy with cakes others have refused to make. Best Italian pastries in town!! We always get our pasties from Sicilian Bakery and this day was no exception. My daughter is not a big sweet eater, but LOVES cannoli. For her wedding, instead of a full sweet table she just wanted a mini-cannoli 'bar' to be paired with the fresh fruit display the venue was providing. What a HIT this was!! Anthony from the bakery was so sweet and accommodating and... they deliver. That may not seem like a big deal, but some bakeries do not and the last thing you need to do on your wedding day is to run errands. Found this place by internet search I was looking for cuccidati for the holidays. I am a senior stuck home due to Covid and luckily they mail out I ordered the cuccidati and their Sicilian cookies. Both are excellent. The cookies are big and very tasty. I wish I was in their direct delivery service because I would have loved to try their cannoli arancini and pizza hopefully I will be able to make it to the store one of these days. This bakery is probably one of my favorites to go to when in Norridge. I was recently at a friends house who had cannoli's from them and they were by far the tastey's, crispiest cannoli's I have ever had. The fresh pistachios they used made these treats one of the best tasting desserts I had in awhile. The filling was just right, sweet but not too sweet like the artificial creams you can get at other stores. Highly recommend this place. Oh their fresh focaccia bread is amazing as well!!! read more

The sfincione is excellent. In particular, the tomato variety was top-notch. We also got an iris, which is like a breadcrumb covered bombolone filled with sweet ricotta. A lot better than previously thought going in. Location can be tricky at first since it occupies a small storefront in a strip mall. They make some really good cannoli's here while the shell was crispy, not mushy and the filling had a lot of flavor and I never had sfogliatelle that was so amazing since I dislike it in general. Prices for the pastries varied but were around $2 each. Pretty good pizza bread as an 8" went for $3.50. What a great find! read more

Words can't adequately describe this authentic Italian gem of a bakery! You have to eat their food to know what I mean. I walk in and I see who I think are family members/owners of the bakery just chatting with a customer. They had this alluring Italian way of speaking, and I felt like I was back in my Italian grandparents home as a child. I ordered 4 slices of pizza, 4 biscotti, 4 lemon taralli cookies, a neopolitan pastry, 1 Sfogliatella, and this fried ball of something covered in cinnamon sugar that tasted like Jesus blessed it with cannoli filling inside. Mangia, mangia! Just go and you will know what I mean. My husband and I had the pizza for lunch and it was out of this world....so fresh and tasty. We also tasted the fried dough of goodness and I almost fainted because it was so good. I can't wait to try the rest. Grazie for your amazing food, hospitality and grazie to the very patient and kind woman who waited on me. I told her that I felt like a kid in a candy store. my husband and I went for lunch after reading a review in Time Out Chicago. He had the Italian foccacia sandwich and I had the eggplant foccacia. Absolutely great! The sandwich was the size of a frisbee and the focaccia bread was fresh, flavorful and fantastic. Couple that with tender but slightly firm (not mushy) eggplant, fresh mozzarella, baby spinach with fresh basil and an olive oil dressing and it was one of the best things I've ever eaten. We ordered a meat arancini also and even though we didn't think we could eat it all, it was so delicious that we finished everything. Also, couldn't resist the Blood Orange gelato on the way out, one of about a dozen flavor choices in the case. This place takes a lot of pride in what they do. The people here were super nice, and the pastries we got were quite good. But the pizza was....it wasn't pizza. It was a piece of bread with tomato and cheese on top that had been sitting in a display case for Lord knows how long, and which they re-heated to the point of luke-warmth. Maybe we were wrong to trust Yelp that this is a place that serves pizza, since it seems to primarily be a bakery, but don't make that same mistake! read more

The Italian quality and ingredients are excellent but the customer service is the worst in the city. They are almost always out of many of the key ingredients to make a simple lunch sandwich for you. I have gone here at least three times in the past few months and requested coffee cakes and several loaves of bread for pick up due to a funeral across the street. Each time I have phoned in my order ahead of time and each time I have entered the store only to tell me that my order was never placed. Then they quickly apologize and are not able to fill in my coffee cake requests and force me to grab whatever they have in the counter. They will never put a few loaves of bread for you to come in and pick up and each time you get there they will tell you it is sold out. Not a consistent place at all for customer service but a good place to go as a back-up. Very frustrating place to deal with. read more

I've been going to this bakery since it opened years ago, and been delighted every time by their excellent breads, pastries, and cookies. My personal favorites are the hard rolls, the chocolate hazelnut biscotti, and the apple slices. Every once in a while, I have to go in for my cannoli-fix, and have one with some espresso. The amaretti and the lemon cookies are unforgettable, and the submarine sandwiches are generous and incredibly delicious. If you can't go to Italy, go to the Sicilian Bakery! read more
