My boyfriend had the "authentic cuban" and it was not good at all. For anyone who really likes cubans go a different route or you'll be disappointed. Drinks were okay priced which would be the only reason I'd consider coming back. But, it took forever to get refills since the bartenders were on their phones the entire time. Love side bar! The drinks are super cheap and the staff is extremely nice! For parking wise it is near gsu campus so there are parking garages really near by. Also, it's great if you are a gsu student on campus it's walking distance! The staff is really nice and consistently makes sure that anyone and everyone who walks in is welcomed and really taken care of. In addition, this place has pretty good food! I got a burger and fries! The fries are super fresh and the drinks are super good for a pitcher. I was already not liking Atlanta before I visited Sidebar. ATL is too big and (seemingly) unfriendly for my small town sensibilities. I hoped to find a place that was pleasant enough to at least be neutrally friendly with decent food. My bar was set a little high, but Sidebar reached it, achieved it and kicked it to the side. I did not expect (and should not have expected) to find a warm, friendly bar. But i did. i came as a stranger and left as a friend. Sidebar is really cool. The staff was very friendly as were the guests. I meet people from San Fran, Providence and Nigeria. They showed looped 70s and 80s movies on a TV and had free 80s games on another TV. Food was good and the beer selection was adequate. I recommend it. I really recommend it. read more

Came in to watch the UFC fight. Lots of screens and they were all easy to see. Penny was my server and was very attentive and friendly. Plenty of games to play. Basically a cool place to grab a some food and drinks and enjoy yourself. Closes at 2 on Saturday night so it's a lil late night spot too. read more

I created an account specifically so I could review this place. I went last night with 4 other friends. As a member of a gym that was having a fight party here, I was excited to see what Sidebar had in store for us. I was quickly let down. We arrived around 7 and it wasn't terribly crowed. We found a table and I made sure I checked in with the waitress. She assured me that she would be with us soon. About 20 minutes passed and I went to check on her. Once again she told me she would be with us. 15 more minutes and another member of our party went to check in. Our service continued to be subpar but here are the highlights - the menu is inaccurate and about 25% of the items are no longer available - had to ask multiple times for napkins, water, and utensils - when we finally did get water, it was a pitcher thrown down in front of me with 5 plastic cups.... -One member of our party paid with cash and didn't receive all of her change - AC was broken I will not be back and I would never recommend this place to others. read more

The Horror is for Lovers was a complete bust. The event was suppose to consist of bottomless sangria, 2 entrees, and horror movies. The doors opened at 7pm I got there at 7:19 to find that although I've purchased my ticket online I had no seat. I called the bar 2 weeks in advance and was told that as long as I had a ticket I would have a seat. When I spoke to the lady on duty who's name I forgot to get. She tells me well there are seats up top and I was more than welcomed to sit in the top level of the bar which is a sports bar. This whole situation was horrible. read more

Don't ever get a Cuban sandwich anywhere but a Cuban restaurant. Everything I ever ate there was horrible except for the chicken wings. They were ok. But this isn't really a restaurant, it's a bar. It has bar in the name. The crowd is kinda weird. I'm not talk about the East Atlanta Village I have holes the size of quarters in my ears kind of way, it's more like a creepy old guy in town for business kind of way. Being a downtown resident it upsets me to give a poor review to a local bar. Side bar is in a great locations, great drink selection and average food. The service I was given was AWFUL. I guess I neglected to read the word "bar" in the name, "Sidebar". Unless you want to meet friends to drink beer, smoke cigarettes (there seems to always be a cigarette smoker impairing the taste of your spicy mozzarella sticks), and play trivia games, there is really no reason to visit Sidebar. After leaving a show at the Rialto Center around the corner, my friends and I visited Sidebar for some cheap eats. With so many new & great options within a 2 block radius (Ted's Montana Grill, Landmark Diner, Slice...) I doubt I will ever come back. I've never had the problem with the food there, but the service....aye-ya-yaye....horrendous. Our server would ignore her tables to chat with bar patrons or text on her cell phone. AND we got incorrect change on our bill ($2.01 short) and were ACCUSED of pocketing the money! Who in the heck would lie about $2.01??? The bartender, FELICIA (avoid her with your life), then yelled and argued with us about how she "trusts" her math but not my friends. Really?? Really. The only reason I'm not giving it a zero is because the food is good, and the other staff members were embarrassed and secretly apologized for FELICIA'S behavior. However, to leave and have to wash the cigarette smoke out of my hair, scarf, coat, gloves, top, and jeans, and be treated like a bike thief is unacceptable and not worth the return visit. read more

This place is just awful. Remember the soup nazi from Seinfeld? Well, a visit to Sidebar is kind of like going to the Soup Nazi's restaurant except, in the end, you're rewarded with mediocre to bad food and bland drinks instead of excellent soup. Sidebar has the potential to be a great neighborhood hang out; the location is convenient, it's surprisingly large and the crowd is generally tame. But the servers there are quite possibly the worst I've ever experienced. I tolerated it for months until a server walked away from me in the middle of an order, copping a massive attitude the whole time. The end result of this experience made me feel like a character in a Kafka novel, completely confused about what happened. So what, my fellow yelpers must be thinking, did happen? Here's what: A manager came to our table and asked, "You have a problem?" I responded no, but she stood there staring, so I finally said something like, "Well, a server was really rude to us." And the manager responded by kicking us out of the bar! I kid you not; we weren't drunk (and had not been drinking because of our difficulty ordering drinks) and we weren't combative, but that manager sure was absolutely crazy. Last time I'll ever go to Sidebar, and if you want good service -- and don't want to worry that you might get kicked out for making one wrong move -- I'd avoid Sidebar like the plague. read more

1. It's kind of trashy. There was some games out in the back but nothing too exciting. Very few sitting areas but considering that the bar is so small, I guess they do have so big booths in the back. 2. I ordered a mojito and the bartender said they ran out of mint and she did not want to go in the back room to get it because she was too busy. 3. Small little place.. Great food. Great service. Great drink prices. This is like a dive bar. This is also a Florida Gator bar which makes it even better. The food is moderately priced. If you're looking for a good bar in the area with good food and great drink prices, I'd recommend this place. There are tons of tv's and tons of sports on all the time. Sidebar is the kind of place you go to after class at 4 in the afternoon. I cant say anything otherwise, because I dont go later than that. I really like going downstairs and playing trivia against other Sidebar-ians. Todd claims the Cuban is not good. That is crazy to me. Everytime I go there I get the Cuban and it is actually the only place I will order them from. Drinks are inexpensive and the crowd is great, at least when I go at 4. For location and atmosphere, the Sidebar is handicapped. Downtown is not the place to be anymore if you're a bar business- especially when you're hidden on a small street near the homeless crowd. Of course, if you work downtown and you're close, this place serves up some great grub and no crowds. The red falcon sandwich (a buffalo flavored chicken) is delish. As is the Cuban. Maybe the B-team was working the day I went. I'd been here previously, with good experience. I was very disappointed to go in during some of the ACC tournament that started at noon, and decided to try some of "Downtown Atlanta's Best Wings". It was fairly early for the lunch crowd, so I expected nothing but another good experience. The wings I received had WAY too much sauce poured on them, and after digging to the bottom of the pile to get one that maybe wasn't quite so covered, I was horrified. The first wing on the bottom that I put my finger on was cold. It seems to me, if the wings on top were hot to the touch, and the bottom ones cold and partially warmed through, what could I conclude except these were leftover wings that had been microwaved. I encountered two more wings that were cold to the touch on the bone end, and became completely disgusted. I know Sidebar is proud of its kitchen, but this was disappointing and unacceptable, especially when the place was not busy. I have been to very few places that find it difficult to freshly cook the wings for a customer. I had made it clear to my server that I was there for tournament games, therefore planned to be there for a while, and intended to spend quite a bit of money. Sidebar lost my business that day. I hope management reassesses its kitchen staff, especially during a sports intensive time like conference tournaments. The SEC tournament was due to start not long after the ACC tournament did, and staff should have been anticipating good sales. Cold, obviously leftover wings are a disgrace. The server never even inquired why I was asking for a box and paying my tab so quickly after arriving. Poor attention to clientele. read more

I went there last night. I was alone, and it was about 930pm, so I walked right over to one of the bar tables, and sat there. A server greeted me fairly quickly, and got me a beer equally fast. The atmosphere was a little on the "dark and smokey" side, but not too much. I like it dark and smokey. The music was good and loud; mostly hip hop. A replay of the Patriots/Colts game was on the big screen(I missed the game live, so I enjoyed it). I saw the one thing on the menu that seemed appropriate for me, so I immediately ordered "The Big MO." The menu said all burgers are cooked med-well, so I didn't ask for med-rare. The server checked on me a couple times while I waited for the food, but I was slow on the beer. Food came out as quick as you can cook a 24oz burger, and it was decent. The fries were like McDonald's fries, but without the minimum-wage despair of McDonald's fries. The burger came with only one slice of cheese, so next time I'll ask for more. It is 3 patties, all cooked well, stacked up on a bun with a leaf of lettuce and two tomato slices. The produce was clean and fresh. Overall, the burger seemed a little dry to me. That may be because I always get my burgers med-rare to rare; I don't know. It's been years since I ate meat well done. So, it could just be me. It tasted good, and for $13, it is a decent dinner. Next time, I will ask if they can cook it med-rare for me, and I will see about getting extra cheese; maybe a slice of each of the varieties they have. I'll definitely go back. read more

I was here for a gator viewing party and if you are a gator or anyone on a non viewing day I would chose any other place in town possible to eat or drink except side bar.
