I love how many gluten free and vegan options they have here. The berry black iced tea was delicious and refreshing, as was the pineapple ginger Agua Fresca (although it could've been served just a bit cooler). The Thai Chicken salad was delicious. The dressing was light and fresh and the chicken was done incredibly well (and I am a very picky chicken eater). The salad was simply done without over complicating the plate, and each ingredient was more fresh than the last. I have a feeling that some of these ingredients and herbs are grown by the owners themselves but I forgot to ask! read more

Danville is currently staying in facility. Not being familiar with Anh Ghao but I can tell they have a lemon nice places there. So of course I go to Yelp. This place looks interesting. I walk in during peak hours last time and the place is pretty full. Nice environment in Great vibe. Inside and outside dining. I ordered a meatloaf sandwich for myself and a veggie Panini for her. I also got a bread pudding. I total bill was $55 plus tip. It well my meatloaf sandwich was good. I don't even think it was 6 inches long. And it cost $19. Full disclosure that was when I ordered it. Everyone in Danville and the surrounding toney suburbs off I-680 knows Sideboard. It is a great casual eatery in downtown Danville. Really, it is an old house with a couple of buildings, and several dining areas indoors or outdoors or in a breezeway in between. The food is good, the menu is interesting, and the service is good, too. Except on Saturday and Sunday mornings, it can get crazy busy and packed with families and friends doing Brunch. Seems like when it comes to Brunch in Danville, many choose Sideboard. It is casual, so you go to the counter and order and pay, get a number (not a number, but something unique pictured and stuck to a meal rod), and the food is run out to you by staff. The lattes and such are served in coffee bowls, not cups. And the food and specials are tasty and well made, for a casual restaurant. It is mostly locals, so the vibe is friendly and congenial, except for those bum-rush weekend brunchers trying to find a table. The last time I was here was a bit chilly and I sat in the breezeway between the ordering building, and the back building, but the entire area had overhead heat lamps to keep you warm. So that was nice! I have been here at least a half dozen times, so I would recommend it. read more

(Similar to Model Bakery in Yountville.) it's a good size muffin that's crispy outside and soft and chewy inside. Slab on some butter and their fresh berry jam and it's da bomb! I loved loved the breakfast Mac n cheese. It was shell pasta with what tasted like several cheeses. It wasn't greasy at all. Topped with a over med egg and thick crispy bacon. The only thing I would complain about is if you have a picky eater with you. They don't offer pancakes or anything on the "average" menu. The ketchup isn't regular ketchup and it's not very good. They have herb dressing, but it's not ranch. BUT, I do love their food. I just won't bring my kids or any other picky eaters. The steak sandwich is amazing. The scrambles are awesome. The pastries are soooooo good! Service = you! Haha! You basically serve yourself - which I am totally okay with. Seat yourself. Get your own silverware, napkins, water, etc. at the sideboards they have against the walls. They bring your food. They also have blankets for cold weather, if you want to sit outside. Everything is self service - you grab your own water, water pitcher, utensils, napkins etc. I ordered a Chai Latte and a breakfast sandwich. Latte was tasty but had to much milk for my liking (too watered down) but still good. My sandwich arrived with stale bread. I ate the inside contents only and those were decent. Overall I felt my sandwich was bland and unseasoned. My friend got the avocado toast with a fried egg on top. She only ate half her dish. I was in Danville this weekend, and had a chance to try Sideboard! This eclectic breakfast/brunch style cafe has mixed indoor and outdoor seating, furniture of all shapes and sizes, and serve-yourself utensils and water stands. We tried some of the brunch drinks, and the pulled pork quesadilla (on the Specials menu) and Chilaquiles. The food was amazing, and all of the servers were extremely friendly. The outdoor portion is dog-friendly, and has heaters scattered throughout. They also have blankets for visitors who sit outside, which came in handy for the cold weather this weekend! We snagged the last open table and saw many people after us confused on where to sit after they ordered. It is also on you to get your own silverware, napkins, waters etc. Would be much more pleasant to have a normal restaurant experience with waiters & a host. The food was excellent but did come out a bit separated in timing (two of our three meals came out quickly along with our appetizer at the same time and then the third meal was probably ten more minutes). Stopped by for the first time, for a quick dinner/happy hour with my former boss the other day. Located behind some real estate offices, this establishment is not immediately evident from the street level. But upon walking through the side streets, you'll find Sideboard to be a rather spacious establishment, offering both indoor and outdoor seating options. We started our meal around 5pm on a weekday, so it was actually really quiet still, with no other patrons in the establishment. I am told however, that the place fills up really quickly later into the evening. Place your orders at the counter, grab your #, select your own seating, grab your own utensils from the back, and the food is brough to your table afterwards. Ordered the Fresh Seared Ahi sandwich, with a side of chips. The "sandwich" actually came out on a burger bun, but it was fresh, seared perfectly, and really delicious! Added to the chips and beer, made for a delicious and hearty dinner. Service was pleasant and efficient. And we really enjoyed our dining experience overall. read more

The breakfast/brunch menu is tough to choose from because there are so many good options. You order and are an assigned a table and food is served based on your number. Service is friendly, it's a very cute restaurant and there is a large sideboard in the main building with utensils and all pleasantries you'll need to enjoy a wonderful meal. Sideboard has been a favorite since they've been at the first location at the Danville hotel. We had to get used to the new place with its new vibe and validated after a few visits, it will always be one of our go to places locally. Back when dining was open, we enjoy having a freshly made Aguas frescas type of drink, and fries with aioli. After Covid, it was a relief to see curbside and pick up availability. Nice to be reunited with beignets after a few months. Since they only serve it on the weekends, plan to snag these babies early. We've had to call right at 8am to secure them when we have beignet cravings. Another fave of ours is the maple scone and they've been consistent in the way they make it throughout the years. I look forward to the days when we're able to dine more freely. read more

You cannot get a refill without standing in a 20 min line on Sunday morning and you PAY for the refill! Never coming back ! Impersonal ! **Update 2 hrs 30 min post meal*** It gets worse ! I tried to make reservations the night before . They only reserve for parties of 10 . We arrived , line out the door and 1 open table . When my friend from out of town ordered , they didn't mention you will need to find the silverware and napkins , salt&pepper at a banquet table across the room . We sat down with our little table marker (lettuce ?) and no silverware or seasonings or sweeteners or creamers of any kind. Asked a waitress . She pointed to the banquet table. I literally had to make the table for 3 myself . I had to sort through the heavily used salt&pepper (one appeared moldy) to get our seasonings . I had to find the bottle marked liquid sugar or something? and take it to the table . I made several trips to the banquet table. Post meal , my friend asked for water while I was waiting in the long line for a simple coffee refill (big mistake! No refills!) I pointed to the banquet table and mouthed 'W a t e r" . His jaw dropped . No service to speak of post food delivery ! On the way out after tipping 15% on a bill of $70 for 1 coffee, 2 lattes , 1 breakfast sandwich , 2 bacon scrambles +avocado . No toast no sides no service . A pleasant waitress said "have a nice day" WOW! I had no words so I just kept walking . Good riddance to this place ! At Harvest the food is better and healthier. The service is exceptional! And the Ambiance is so relaxed and comforting . They even smile when they greet you there . As we walked up to this restaurant I was surprised how many people were here at 11am on a Monday. I quickly realized why it's so popular. The beignets with powdered sugar and the berry sauce were so decadent and fluffy. They weren't overly sweet, and the slightly tart berry sauce provided some freshness. The bacon scramble had perfectly soft scrambled eggs, gooey cheese, and just the right amount of bacon - you had bacon in every bite. My mimosa was great - fresh squeezed juice and the right ratio of sparkling wine to juice. My fiancé enjoyed the breakfast sandwich and Vampiro as well. Sideboard is always a great place for both ambiance and food. It's a self-service restaurant, so you place your order up front and then choose your seat. Your food is brought to the table, but you grab your own silverware, water, napkins, etc. The mac and cheese is a long-running personal favorite, it's the perfect cheesy flavor with bread crumbs and cheesy flakes on top. I tried the Vietnamese Veggie Sandwich for the first time and really enjoyed it. It had a lot of flavor and was very refreshing. It came with a lot of chips on the side too. I also tried their Sangria and it was pretty good. It was light and refreshing, but it got watered down very easily because the cup was filled to the brim with ice. I don't think I would order that drink again, but I'm glad I tried it. Depending on when you visit, you can either have a lot of open seating (weekdays at mid-day) or you're waiting in a long line and hoping for a table (weekends at mid-day and afternoon). Sideboard is a long time favorite restaurant for our favorite that we've been going to since it opened many years ago. The menu is filled with soups, salads, sandwiches, and other rotating hearty dishes. I don't know that we've ever been disappointed by something we've ordered! A few favorites include the French fries (always say yes to sb french fries!!), the Thai salad, chicken salad sandwich, and the grilled chicken sandwhich. The watermelon mint cooler + lemonade in the summer is the most refreshing drink I look forward to each year! They also have a full coffee bar with delightful lattes and other handcrafted beverages. The hot chocolate comes with Gresham cracker crumbs and a homemade marshmallow which is another great treat. There is often a long line and wait times can be long but it is 100% worth it for the great food and lovely atmosphere! read more

Can't believe I've never written a review for my longtime fave Sideboard. I've moved out of the East Bay so haven't been here for a while, but came back this past weekend and everything was just as perfect as I remember. I've been coming here so long, since they were in the other Danville location, and the food has never ever failed. Whoever the chef is, please move to Sacramento :D Favorite items are the shrimp ceviche salad (huge and full of wonderful toppings), the unforgettable brussels sprouts with that addicting aioli, and the best burger I've ever had in my life... Other honorable mentions are the macaroni & cheese, the steak sandwich (is this still on the menu? idk) and everything I've ever tried from the pastry case. The fruit cobblers are especially memorable. This is a truly talented and unforgettable kitchen. Can I just talk about the burger for a second though?? It's always perfectly cooked, the meat is freaking amazing and juicy AS HELL. I've never had a burger so juicy. The white cheddar cheese complements the meat perfectly. If there's one reason I can never go completely vegetarian, I blame this burger. Ok, almost forgot, one thing that isn't good here is the house made ketchup. Sorry about it. Just give us Heinz!! The decor is rustic and welcoming with tables inside and out. It can get cold sitting outside, but Sideboard has blankets available to keep you warm. You order first then find a table to sit. The staff will deliver your drinks and food to your table. The restaurant does get busy and finding a table can be difficult. Our group was here around 11 and it wasn't too busy. Plus, we were here in time to choose between breakfast and lunch. I love all the salads here! I had the Roasted pink and gold beet salad with grilled chicken today and it was delicious. This colorful salad has mixed baby lettuces, sweet roasted beets, grapefruit segments, shaved fennel, Humboldt Fog goat cheese and a citrus vinaigrette. So good!! The atmosphere here is so relaxed.
