We had an amazing time at Sidecar! We were looking for what to do in SLO and saw online that they turn into a live jazz bar every so often. We arrived a little early so the downstairs was not open yet but we were able to sit upstairs to order some drinks and food. It is all Christmas themed right now so it is incredibly cute and festive. For drinks, we ordered the Let it Snow and the Sidecar. I thought the drinks were nice but pricey at ~$17-18 per. The Kush Burger was where it was at though. Great cook on the meat with goat cheese and potato chips. It was an uncommon pairing but it was phenomenal. The live jazz was great too. They were engaging with the audience and had such a fun, upbeat energy. I highly recommend going on their jazz nights!

All decked out for Christmas and our table overlooked the creek. Our drinks were quickly served by friendly staff. The holiday drink menu was inventive and served in festive holiday glassware.

I ordered the " Scrip Reads Me" It was a good drink. It is has a heavy coconut flavor. Great location with outside seating on the creek bank. Server friendly and helpful. Happy that they give you a bottle of water for the table. Limited food selection. Service was slow

Fantastic drinks, good bar seating and very friendly staff. A good cocktail menu with drinks named after famous movie lines-- I went with "chlorophyll, more like boro-phyll." Also had some bites, including the super simple veggie dumplings. Solid spot

This review is for their tiki bar downstairs. The tiki bar was...not at all what I expected it to be. I've been to many tiki bars and they were fantastic - very well decorated, fit the vibe, and had really cool variety of cocktails. This one was very little and one could say, effortlessly decorated. They had some colorful lights on top of the bar and a straw shirt laid out on one wall and then a second room across that looks like a storage room turned into another space for people to socialize in. The drinks were also very pricey for the amount that you get. I honestly wouldn't recommend it but glad I was able to feed my curiosity.

I've been here before and absolutely loved it, but I have to recommend it again. I knew Sidecar had a rotating menu but I had no idea to what extent. On this visit their cocktail menu was inspired by an old "Mario the idea vs Mario the man" meme. It was hilarious, and on this occasion we tried the "why are we saying this?" And it was super good. I didn't try any of their rotating beers on this occasion as I am not a huge IPA drinker, but the Chinese takeout menu was killer, and the walnut shrimp was some of the best I've had. We also had the fried rice which was solid. Sidecar is always super chill as a bar, never quite reaching the same raucous volume of many other bars, which is one of my favorite things about it. Their staff always makes great recommendations. Sitting outside overlooking the river and having a few drinks is something I always have to do in SLO and I recommend you try the same!

I've been here a few times on different occasions and both the cocktails and the service never disappoint. They changed their menu from the last time I came and it was an interesting yet funny menu. The philosophy essay that inspired this cocktail menu was hilarious and fun to read. I got the midterm 101. It was very flavorful and had an intriguing mix of flavors- guava and curry syrup. I'd recommend trying it if you're adventurous with your cocktails. Great cocktail bar with quick service!

I've been here several times for drinks and have always thought the little speakeasy type vibe they have downstairs vs the more restaurant /bar upstairs is awesome. They recently switched their food menu to primarily Asian food which is my favorite and I'd already tried their fries with the wasabi and furikake, this was their plate of the day and it was phenomenal!! The pork dumplings were also really tasty and I'm just really impressed overall with the food and service here each time I've gone.

Service here was excellent, we were checked up on enough and our server gave great recommendations. Thanks to our server Talia D! We sat in a cute garden area with vines, plants, and fairy lights, very cozy like you're in a friend's well-decorated patio. They also gave us complementary bread before we received our meal, and a lot of the dishes were unique and plated well. I would come back if I'm ever in the area and would recommend this place to all my friends! All ratings below are averaged (from me and my bf): salmon bisque // 9.25 // very yummy and unique. my bf didn't think he'd like it -- he usually dislikes seafood -- but it was great!! creamy, clear salmon taste but no unpleasant fishy/ocean taste that a lot of seafood has. i've never had this anywhere else, props to the chef! thai green curry // 8.5 // my bf says it's a 9. it's good but i feel like it was not my fave, it's lowkey your good, standard green curry that you can get at any thai place duck breast (curry) // 8.75 // very delicious and unique, i'd rate the curry, rice, and duck breast as 9/10, the duck breast itself was a 10/10. the curry was creamy, and they were all delicious and fragrant, pairing well together. however, the mushrooms, carrots, and other veggies it came with are too sweet. they seem like they're glazed with a sauce that has too much sugar. the black rice was surprisingly very filling strawberry matcha trifle // 8 // yummy, nothing majorly wrong with it. reminds me of a strawberry matcha latte. matcha whipped cream was a nice, unique touch i haven't really seen elsewhere despite it not sounding difficult to make. i'd order it again but i feel like it's on the sweeter side, so you can't eat too much of it.

I ordered the filet medium but it was served more on the well side. I would not order this again. I also had two Lavender Linen cocktails that were great. My husband ordered the FRESH AVOCADO-SHRIMP SPRING ROLLS and the description was glass noodles, julienned vegetables, ginger soy and chili sauces, cilantro, mint, bell pepper garnish, roasted peanuts. He loved them. Normally, he eats spring rolls with peanut sauce but the sauces that accompanied the spring rolls were perfect. The outdoor setting is very romantic and not what you would expect from a downtown restaurant. We left at dusk but I'm sure it's spectacular at night. Service was spot-on. We were with a large party and our server was very accommodating; giving recommendations and double checking once items arrived that they were correct. I highly recommend trying the lavender linen cocktail and spring rolls if you're in the area.

He said to me: "move or imma beat your ass." So I replied, I was just trying to get through but please don't because I'm just a girl." He replied, "Then look like it." Later on in the night he shoulder checked me, so, to defend myself, I shoved him. He bucked up on me and threatened security and a camera check. Tell me why I got kicked out??? I am a respectful person and I will always leave anywhere if asked to go. Why did the bouncer grab me and start shoving me out the door. He grabbed my INJURED arm. When I yelped, "ouch my arm is injured please let go, I am leaving." His response was "Don't fight back or I'll call the cops." Unacceptable. F*ck this place and the employees. I will NEVER be back and I will also discourage anyone from going by enlightening them on my AWFULLLLL experience. EDIT: What an unprofessional response, but not surprised after reading your responses to other patrons. Who the f*ck are you to tell me the extent of my injury?! Regardless of how big or small NOBODY would want their wound manhandled. There were people everywhere and I was walked towards the exit. You don't kick someone out of an establishment by grabbing and manhandling them. Your security just wants an excuse to put their hands on people and take advantage of their power. I did not shove multiple people so that claim is 100% false. Also never said I was an employee, nor would I ever want to work for you?? I shoved ONE person that shoulder checked me and threatened to beat me up for no reason. Show some professionalism in your responses to upset guests, it makes you look pathetic and childish. The tip o' Argentina was solid with the garlic aioli and the chimmichurri perfectly complimenting the steak and the lettuce and tomato adding a little bit of freshness. The buns they use for all of their sliders are soft, slightly sweet, and don't fall apart while you're eating. The Bahn Mi was even better. I love pork but was a little skeptical about pulled pork on a slider riffing on the flavors of a bahn mi. To my surprise and delight, it tasted just like grilled Vietnamese pork, which was perfectly complimented by the fresh and pickled veggies and surprisingly hot jalapeño.
