We came to this restaurant 2x in two weeks. The first time was for my birthday, and we sat outside because they are dog friendly! It wasn't the warmest day, but they had outdoor heaters for us which is always a nice option. I was picked this place because we wanted a more casual place to celebrate now that I have a newborn. We noticed the smell of amazing BBQ and our server told us about their weekend specials and how they smoke the meat the day before. Definitely a teaser! On my birthday, everyone order sandwiches or burgers and no one was disappointed. I also want to shout out their sweet potato fries and ranch dressing. *chef kiss* Fast forward to this past Friday, we arrived around 6:30 only to be told that the burnt end sliders & ribs were sold out 10 minutes before we got there! *shucks* We ended up getting the brisket sandwich (not pictured) and asked for a side of BBQ sauce. French fries weren't sitting out. We'd come back and try other goodies on the menu, too many great choices, also wish we had room for dessert. Clean, plenty of tables. Portobello sandwich needs some more fillers to give it some volume, everything smashed down to 1" thickness. Pesto and cheese were great in it. A neighbor and I just had the smoker tri-tip sandwich, he with a salad, me with onion rings. What delicious meal! The onion rings were crisp and very tasty, the smoker tri-pit was smoked to perfection. Very tender and tasty, the bacon a nice touch. Get there early, there's only so much smoker tri-tip available, and Sidetrack is the only place in Pleasanton where you can get it, so don't miss it. Service was great! read more

Just had a gathering at the sidetrack for about 33 people. It was a great experience! The planning was easy through Todd who made recommendations for food and drink service. The appetizer display worked well, allowing for mingling while having warm plates of food for all. I've done events while working and the Sidetrack had the most positive comments on food, setting and service I've ever heard. I arrived with guests and everything was in place. We were on our way home from a Giants game and my granddaughter picked a place for us to stop and eat. She picked Sidetrack because of the huge selection on the menu. The Service was very good. The food was pretty basic for a pub. I ordered the Jumbo Shrimp and Crab Louie Salad. What I got was 3 tiny shrimp, some shredded crab like meat on top of 6 lettuce leaves, stacked on top of each other like a deck of cards. There was barely half an avocado and hard boiled egg. My mom got the Chicken Marsala. She said it tasted sour. We did get an appetizer, the Austin eggrolls. We weren't impressed. The corn pieces in it were hard and gummy. Overall, I'm sure it's a nice pub, but since neither of us drinks, we were there for the food. It wasn't up to par. Average. This is a cool casual spot to grab a bite with friends. I ate with my friends and initially sat inside while waiting for them as it was hot outside. It smelled a bit inside and there were plenty of empty tables. We requested to sit outside when my friends arrived and the manager? (older waitress who seemed like she was in charge) gave a bit attitude but still moved us. We sat outside in the back, which had a bunch of filled tables. We ordered some appetizers and drinks and entrees. We had onion rings, fried pickles, and ahi tuna poke with wonton chips. The apps were okay. Standard bar food. It was a nice sunny day, so we stopped here for a bite to eat on the patio.It was just as the Farmer's Market was shutting down which was great, because there was plenty of parking. The food was delicious. Our waiter Eduardo was friendly, and he was always smiling. The tater tots seem to be one of the most popular dishes there. Our server was very personable , and we got checked on by any server who was passing by which was nice. All the staff working here seem like they genuinely enjoy what they do, and I have to say that is a reflection of management- happy employees equal happy customers :) Now the food i got sweet chili wings and only shared one wing with my husband I ate the rest to myself because they were that good lol I also had the crab sandwich which they can serve you hot or cold which I love that they give you that option. It was delicious and the couple who ordered it next to us agreed as well. My husband and I were split on the drinks I thought they were strong , he didn't so I guess it depends on your tolerance . We had a company lunch for around 35 people at Sidetrack. I had been working with the owner Todd for a few weeks to setup the event. I would love to recommend this restaurant. We are on the patio and it was so comfortable, it was raining outside and they have heaters everywhere this no one was cold. The food..... was so TASTY! Was there to meet a friend and I'm not local there. The place looks nice and clean. It had strange chlorine smell from cleaning that was very strong to levels of off putting. We chose to sit outside. The beer selection was very main stream and not much of interesting stuff. The food had vegan label available, but very few options. Even the beyond burger was with something that made it not vegan. It didn't advertise as vegan place and it is not. The service was nice, but very slow. It cool to give people time to make up their mind, but food usually arrives sooner. Had brunch here this past weekend, and really loved the setting, great neighborhood, plenty of indoor and patio seating options, a full bar, and just a relaxing atmosphere on a sunny Sunday morning. I was looking forward to some good food, as I had drank a lot the night before and was hoping to get something in my system. The food options were great (menu items like pastrami hash, breakfast scoozzi!, and french toast layered in ham and swiss cheese). But i ended up getting the Hangover Burger ("cause the egg hangs over")... it was okay taste-wise, melty cheese, tangy sauce, but the meat lacking in seasoning... didn't cure my hangover, but presentation was incredible. Each of my friends got the Cubano sandwich and thought it was amazing! I liked that you could pick from so many different sides. We got tater tots, onion rings, and garlic fries to go along with our different dishes. Although the waitstaff and servers were all friendly, they didn't seem very organized. After a young waiter said he was our server, he never returned with our waters. Then another girl said she was going to be our server, and we asked for waters again, finally getting them after a long wait. Then the first guy returned and we told him some other girl was helping us already since he had disappeared for so long. The food took unreasonably long to be served to our table as well. And when we needed other items, no one came by to help us or check on us for long periods of time. When paying the bill, it took them hella long to run our card. Then after we paid and signed, another staff member came by and asked if we were ready for our check. Wow, these young folks don't really have a good system or don't communicate well as a team. So overall, food is good, environment is good, and street parking outside is free and easy. But service needs improvement. Wait time for everything here was ridiculously long (except initially getting seated when we first entered the restaurant), so just be aware if you're super hungry or have an agenda for the day. read more

My bf did not like his pastrami sandwich. He mentioned that it was not flavorful enough n needed more sauce/mustard in the sandwich. The avocado egg rolls were pretty good, stuffed with avocados. The totchos were not that great. It just had shredded melted cheese instead of nacho cheese. Could have used some pico de Gallo in it as well. Since we were in the back patio, and it was an afternoon on a Monday, there were only two tables in the back and it was a little hard to flag our waiter down for the bill since he was inside most of the time. We were served by Eduardo who was friendly and upbeat. The menu was varied and a bit more options that we expected. There is seating outside but we chose to stay inside. Plenty of TV's to watch if that is important. We ordered two salads an Ahi Tuna & seared Salmon. I also ordered a cup of New England clam chowder. I should have ordered a bowl as I could not keep my wife away from it. Probably the best chowder I have ever tasted. Maybe will go back for a bowl soon. Salads were fresh & plentiful. We split a chocolate cake which was also very good. Overall a great experience without breaking the bank. (Restroom was very clean.) The Mrs. & I will visit again. This review is strictly for breakfast which we had served on Sunday morning. I cannot comment on the lunch or dinner items. The service was an absolute five star. Zero complaints there. The food did not do as well.... * We ordered a couple Monte Cristo's and they were just dripping in oil. I know Monte Cristo is not the healthiest item in the world but this was akin to eating a funnel cake or that deep fried log of dough covered in Fruity Pebbles at the Alameda Country Fair. It was so laden with oil it was actually heavy! * The omelette was fine but the "Tader Todds" must have been straight out of a frozen bag. They were just uniformly mass produced as can be seen in the photo. If these were actually made onsite, I will stand corrected but I highly doubt it. Why not make skillet potatoes with peppers, etc and level up a bit? * Last item that really took off a star was the pancakes. The flavor was great (five stars) but the size was a single star at best. For ten bucks I would think they could be a bit larger. The menu does say kids size so that means there is no adult option? Go ahead and charge $15 for adult pancakes then but make them big?! * Another five star item was the Bloody Mary's. They were really good. So much potential along with some very solid items but some two star removal level fails results in an overall three star rating. read more
