I would like to share about my consistent HAPPY experience at Sidetrack! My family and I have been regular customers since Sidetrack opened and it is still our #1 spot in Pleasanton. We feel very welcomed and like family there because of the friendly staff and the time they take to get to know us. The food is so delicious too, great variety of appetizers and the salads are my favorite! My kids love their menu especially the milkshakes. To me the test of a best in class restaurant is if you are able to visit them multiple times and they are consistently outstanding in all categories. We have visited Sidetrack numerous times over the years and they have been able to consistently give us an awesome experience both food, service and value. We keep waiting for that "off day" that all restaurants experience. So far we have not been disappointed as they somehow have maintained "excellent" in all our ratings. Absolutely Horrible Service - Never Again! This was one of the worst dining experiences I've had in a long time. First off, we didn't receive any utensils with our order. Then, although we ordered orange juice, it never arrived -- and neither did our coffee. The servers disappeared entirely, and we had to wait quite a while before any food showed up. When breakfast finally did come, the portions were shockingly small for the price. We ordered the Brisket Breakfast Burrito and Amy's Egg White Omelet. The burrito tasted okay, but again, way too small for $14. The omelet was below average and cost $19 -- ridiculous! To make it worse, we were charged extra ($3+) for tater tots and a fruit basket without being told they were additional. And despite specifically asking for no meat, we found sausage in our eggs. Unacceptable. When the coffee finally arrived (much later), there was no sugar, even though we had clearly asked for it. With no staff around, I had to get up and walk inside just to grab some sugar myself. No one came by to ask if the food was okay or to offer us the bill. I had to flag someone down while they were serving others just to pay. To top it off, they included the orange juice (that we never received) on the bill. After pointing it out, they corrected it but didn't even bother to apologize -- and the juice was meant for my child! There was no option to leave feedback, so I'm leaving this review instead. I gave a 10% tip purely to make a statement about the poor service. Final thoughts: * Brisket burrito: decent taste, small portion. * Amy's egg white omelet: underwhelming, overpriced. * Service: chaotic, unprofessional, and frustrating. Would I go back? No way. Service was FANTASTIC. Food not so much.. We came here after attending a show on our way home. The place is too noisy! You cannot hear anyone at the table, so talking during dinner is out. Five of us came in for dinner. 3 has comments on their food. Salmon was too salty, pastrami was soooo dry, and temp of course could have been better. 2 were happy with their choices. Again service was great. She was attentive and checked back all the time. With so many other places to try, we probably will not be back. read more

Came here for a quick brunch and catch up date with a friend, the place was pretty large but super busy on a weekend. I think we ended up waiting 15 minutes and were seated outdoors at one of the firepit tables, which was nice and casual. Menu was pretty straight forward and still focused on brunch, while service was nice and consistent throughout our meal. Overall, food was OK, just nothing particularly special or memorable that I would go back for. If around the area I would stop by and try other things to change my mind. Got the (1) Portuguese Bene which came with linguica sausage, poached eggs, tots, grilled asparagus, fruit, & toast. The sausage was good, but nothing unique - poached eggs were done perfectly, but didn't really care for the hollandaise sauce. Tots were bomb - nice and crispy, while the toast/fruit/asparagus were all pretty standard. (2) for a sweet treat we also got the French toast - it was okay, the flavor was fine but the texture wasn't my fave - just not as fluffy/light as I've had at other places...some slices were a bit soggy too. read more

Servicer was semi attentive but most spent their time chatting with each other. So unless you want drinks only that's where you should go. I would Rather have eaten at Black Bear diner. We came here after going to the fair. My BF ordered their hamburger along with a side salad and I ordered the pecco chicken salad. Since BF got side salad instead of fries , I ordered their spicy tater todds too...OMG, when waitress brought out the tater todds, it was in a big bowl!!..they were delicious , hot and crispy with a little spice...our entrees were also delicious...we were stuffed when we were done and still had half a bowl of taters left. Guess you need at least 4 people to finish something that size... everyone who we came in contact was really nice, from the Hostess, the gentleman who took our order and the waitress who brought our food...nice atmosphere too. Exceptional service. Stopped by with my mom just before 7:50pm on a Wednesday, and they took us even though their kitchen closes at 8pm! We quickly ordered salmon burgers and cocktails, and were happily noshing on our meals in record time! Their salmon burgers and signature cocktails are what we come for, and we have never been disappointed. They have a great covered patio with space heaters for when things cool off after dark. Today's my birthday so after looking up some spots I settled on this place. I went with my girl and son. There's plenty of parking in the lot in the back. They have an outside area with TV's as well as seating inside. When we entered we were immediately greeted and to our seats. Looks like they had a bar area. The staff were very friendly, especially our waitress. We started with drinks and an appetizer. I got the Little red corvette (vodka w/ lemon juice, simple syrup and strawberry's) and my girl got a Mai Tai IPA. For the app. we got the Ahi Avocado Poke. It tasted really good and fresh. For our entrees I got the Pork Belly Sliders w/Onion Rings and she got the Salmon Burger with Sweet Potato Fries. Our son got chicken tenders and tots. My sliders were great! The meat was smokey and tender. The slaw was dressed perfectly and the Hawaiian roll they came on was soft. Onion rings were nice and crispy. I tried my girls salmon burger and it was delicious. Not too fishy. Had a nice char taste too! Everything was great with nice service to boot! The food was decently priced and well worth it. I'll be back! read more

Luis is the real MVP for helping us figure out our order. Found out they do Tri Tip every Monday until it's gone, and that completely flipped our plan. My husband went all in on the Tri Tip sandwich and hasn't stopped talking about it. I went with the taco trio of Tri tip (off menu), shrimp, and fish. Everything was fresh, tasty, and hit the spot. I outdoor dined with a gal friend of mine. Our eyes were definitely bigger than yummy and we ordered the goat cheese and beet appetizer, the absolute shrimp pasta, sweet potato fries, crab cakes, and a Caesar salad. The goat cheese appetizer was incredible! Your really have to love goat cheese for this one because it's large chucks of goat cheese deep fried, served with beets. The shrimp pasta was so creamy and they didn't skimp on the sauce. My friend enjoyed her crab cakes, but the Caesar salad and sweet potato fries were average. We make it out to Pleasanton at least once a month and have stopped by here for the burgers. They're delicious, family and friends really seem to enjoy them. The waitstaff is always friendly and even though they're very young, they still have the courtesy to check on you. The ambiance feels like most breweries but this place also has dining options outside. You may be seated out in the front or on the side of the restaurant. We will be back next month. read more

Fresh salmon served over arugula tossed with chilled couscous, black currants, roasted pepitas, fresh corn & shaved parmesan, pesto buttermilk dressing. My dining companions enjoyed the burger and the Rueben was nothing special. The onion rings are pretty amazing. The right amount of crunch. They must be having an off day. I ordered the prime rib, before I did so I asked the waiter if they were out, they said no. I ordered a 16oz prime rib medium rare. They said they were out of that except for an already cooked well done one. I changed my order to a New York steak and ribeye, both medium rare. They brought out the ribeye, and the well done prime rib. When we pointed out the mistake they took back the well done prime rib and brought out a "New York steak" which looks nothing like steak, and more like a rare chicken breast... The server was very polite but seemed annoyed when I pointed out the mistake so I offered to pay for both the steak they brought me, and a fresh New York medium rare...he said it wouldn't be necessary...and then what he brought out next definitely would be cause to rate this establishment a 1, but he was respectful and polite the entire time, and he deserves praise...he didn't cook the food after all... read more

Great place to watch the game and grab a bite. Sidetrack is not too crowded on weeknights making it easy to grab a spot at the bar or get a table. They have a pretty decent selection of beers and also a full bar. I tried their regular cheeseburger with a side of onion rings. The burger was great. This was a great grill and bar! We started with the cauliflower and ceviche appetizers. The cauliflower was really flavorful and I recommend asking for the sauce on the side. The ceviche was ok as it is tomato based which I had never had before and wasn't a fan of. For the main, I got the sidetrack signature burger which was very flavorful with extra buttery bread. The fries were also quite crispy and a great portion size. The staff was very friendly and the ambiance of the bar was very lively. The service is always great but as of late the food isn't . Had the Cubano Sandwich - it wasn't great. Cheese was melted but the meat was room temp. My Husband had the Ahi salad and he commented that he remembered it tasting good but it wasn't this time. I will give them another try but the tab for 4 people is +$100 and that's a hard pill to Swallow when the food isn't delicious. read more

Great customer service, yummy and wide selection of food + drinks! A good place to dine with friends, coworkers or have a happy hour. The outdoor patio area is spacious and beautiful, especially when it's a nice day out. There's also a parking lot so you don't have to look for street parking. There are many appetizers to choose from that could honestly fill you up. The ahi poke app seemed really fresh and the tater tot app was huge. I got the KB's chicken sandy (basically a grilled chicken sandwich) - it was creamy with the avocado and provolone cheese. I do think a sauce of some sort would add some acidity & punch to the sandwich but still really solid! I chose a side of garlic fries with my sandwich which were tasty! read more

Came back after some time, and it's still great. We sat inside this time. I had the crab cakes small plate that tasted homemade - very fresh and well seasoned. My wife had the bacon burger with mushrooms and swiss and a side of garlic fries - she loved it. Her mom had the steak skewers and we shared the tots with cheese and bacon. Everything was great tasting and we had excellent service. Sidetrack has interesting selections, a little pricey but I think the quality of food and ingredients merits the prices. read more

My girlfriends and I had brunch here. You can find their brunch menu on Saturdays and Sundays from 10am to 1pm. We dined outside under their shaded patio. As you can see through the photos attached to this review, you can order a nice spread to share amongst your group like we did or you can order your personal favorite. The Jumbo Shrimp and Crab Louie was fantastic and they have tater tots (fav) if you're not a fan of hashbrowns or regular fries. My girlfriend who is vegan ordered the Aussie BBQ pulled jackfruit sandwich and said it was delish. Bloody Marys were also a hit and added a nice kick to our afternoon of laughter over good food. We finally got a chance to check out Sidetrack for lunch. Came here on a Monday afternoon..no wait! Sat outside on their patio and the hostess was kind enough to turn on the heater outside. Customer service right off the bat 5/5. Ordered the pastrami and cubano sandwiches - upgraded one with tater tots and the 2nd with garlic fries. Everything was delicious and the portions were huge! Our server was fantastic and checked on us frequently, but not to the point of annoyance. Def looking forward to coming here for brunch one day! read more

While attempting to find parking to try another restaurant in Downtown Pleasanton, we stumbled across sidetrack. They have their own parking lot, a huge convenience for this area! The restaurant is clean, modern, and has a nice dining room and bar area. No problems with the service, and the food was pretty good. I ordered the applewood bacon burger, which has very well balanced flavors. My husband ordered the pastrami sandwich, and it was okay. He likes the savory, salty flavor of pastrami, and unfortunately his sandwich lacked that. Overall, no major complains on food or service but I take away 1 Star because we felt like our food was overpriced for what it was. read more

As a result I give them a 1 for poor service. In the meantime, I ordered the salmon piccata which wasn't too tasty. The plate was watery and the rice was all over the place. Great place for a group! Sidetrack has an awesome heated patio that was fantastic for our post-work drinks and apps-dinner event for 30ish. The staff is fantastic, the owner helped me plan it out and the food was really good! People could sit or stand and mingle in smaller or larger groups. Service is great and the cubano is excellent. It had the perfect amount of meat and the mustard and other sauce as very tasty. The bun was soft and the tater tots were crispy! The sweet potato fries and regular fries are also good - especially with their special sauces. A lot of rowdy teenagers hang out here but I guess that is to be expected. I wouldn't come here with kids in the evenings because it's a bit loud. Also, this place is not that kid-friendly because their koala care diaper changing table is broken and tilting downwards - my son almost fell off. Please fix it! With my infant, I was able to hold the table up with my knee, but with a 30 pound 2.5 year old toddler, it was impossible. Please fix! read more

FYI, they take reservations twice a year: Easter Sunday and Mother's Day. In case you're like us and thought they don't take reservations, they do for these two special occasions (go figure!). The owner was nice enough to seat our four top right when they opened so it all worked out. A+ on customer service. Every person who helped our table was wonderful and helpful. Solid B on food. My kiddos gobbled up the pancakes, bacon, eggs and tots. My hubs got the pastrami hash, it was eh. I had the huevos rancheros and I liked it but a) needs more heat, and b) needs a crunch factor. Food was good however we were a party of four adults, one toddler (3) and two infants (5 and 7 mos), and they added 20% gratuity to the check because we were a party of seven. We thought this was a mistake and asked the server, she had an attitude and didn't apologize. Instead, she started counting us, including the infants, and she was like yea 7, which we thought was ridiculous. We were going to tip anyway, but we thought it was really rude for her to count the kids, especially the infants. We don't like this kind of behavior and we won't he going back anytime soon. read more

For me, the food was a mixed experience. The avocado egg rolls were delicious, but the crab cakes were rather bland with no detectable seasoning. And as for the romaine side salad, the vinaigrette dressing wasn't very good, the tomatoes weren't ripe enough, and I was hard pressed to find much green amongst the pieces of lettuce mostly chopped from the white ends. However, despite partial disappointment with the food, I'd like to give a "shout out" to our very friendly and helpful server Eduardo who gave us excellent service. read more
