Ok, so sidewinder's is great, but this is a review of my mom who is here at sidewinder's with me. She's kind of getting in my nerves right now, but we'll see who picks up the check. Depending on that outcome she could get a 1 star or 4 stars. If there were more tables open, she could have sat at a different table, then all would be well. Great little place, the atmosphere is amazing, you feel comfortable soon as you walk in. They have a decent beer selection on tap that pairs well with what they serve. The food itself is great, everything we have gotten from them has been on point and we have never had a complaint about how it tastes or is prepared. Although the place was only half full, took over 15 minutes to get a glass of wine and a beer AFTER we ordered. My white wine was room temp...should be chilled. My order: Brussels sprouts - mushy. salmon - overcooked and dry. Sweet potato fries - cold. My date's order: Ribs - very dry. House salad - room temp and not chilled. Even when we sent fries back and asked for hot fries, seems like all they did was throw them back in the fryer...so they were hot, but over cooked and dry. The restaurant is nice and the waiter was awesome! The food was just mediocre at best, nothing to write home about. They have booths in the back that look right into the kitchen area and I was appalled at how dirty things were. There was grease on the floor and employees kept slipping almost breaking their necks and yet no one cleaned it up or put a mat down. Our table was very sticky and the booth seat had food remnants all over. I will still come back and give it another shot but next time maybe sit somewhere where I can't see what's going on in the food prep areas. read more

We hit this place on our way out of Bozeman and thoroughly enjoyed it. Among us, we had the pretzel (awesome!), a bison burger, a bison brat, and the caprese stack. All very tasty. We had a party of 6 and 2 kids. The restaurant does not follow social distancing inside the restaurant. It was filled to 100% capacity instead of 75% as required. We were seated in a corner booth and I specifically asked not to have anybody seated at the table next to us. The host said not a problem. Our meal started off with 2 pretzels (one plain and one with pepperoni). The entrees included a Bruce Lee burger with fries, a chicken wrap with sweet potato fries, a kids pepperoni pizza, a chicken pot pie with a Cesar salad, a buffalo burger with ghost pepper cheese and sweet potato fries, and a summer salad with salmon. The summer salad with salmon came out improperly made. It did not have the feta cheese and the avocado. The salmon was not seasoned and undercooked. When it came back, there was feta, avocado and the salmon was blackened. The server apologized and said he would give only a 50% off that dish only. I was able to talk to the manager who explained the problem but I am not so sure about his follow up. He stated that the host should not have said what he said. They were below capacity of 400. But seating inside was no where near 75%. They had two new people in the kitchen but the expo person would be the last line of defence. And, he should have been told of any issues with the table. read more

Terribly disappointed with our take out food last night. Read all the fabulous reviews couldn't wait to taste the famous pot pie. It had a good flavor but several bites of chicken were terrible and couldn't finish it. Carne Asada was flavorable but nothing to brag about. Came here based on a recommendation. Just wanted a quick dinner. This place is packed. It is great. The staff was quick and courteous. My wife had the chicken pot pie, featured on Diners drive ins and dives. It was fantastic. Better than my grandmothers. Best we ever had. I had a Cubano sandwich. Never had one and wanted to try one. I am hooked on them now. It was fantastic. When I am traveling through, or if we move to the area, this will be my go to spot. Great job!!! read more

Been here a few times and the food is always good. Huge beer selection, sports on the tv's, and awesome servers. Our server tonight, Kelly, made great recommendations (chicken pot pie...it was so good) and was helpful picking out beers. Get the pretzel if you come here, pepperoni and cheese takes it up another notch. Prices aren't the cheapest, but for the portion size and quality it is more than worth it. read more

Ordered a salad with no walnuts because I'm allergic and extra feta. Also ordered just a slice of pizza. Claire that took our order didn't even read it back to us. And when my boyfriend went to go pick it up they made a whole pizza and he felt guilty so he paid for a whole $22 pizza instead of a single slice. Then we looked at the salad and not only did they charge me for extra feta and not give me any that also put WALNUTS in my salad that I specifically told them not to put in. And they weren't just sitting on top. They were tossed in and if I didn't look closely and ate one it could be fatal. It doesn't help that farro and walnuts look similar. And to make it all worse they forgot to dressing. I tried calling back but the same lady gave me an attitude and didn't show any signs of sympathy what so ever. I wanted to speak to a a manager but instead she said I had to come in at at that point I was so angry I started having a panic attack and was in no mental state to go in. Just ok... chicken sandwiches were just two decorated chicken strips on a bun. Flavor was good, but nothing surprising. Fries are good. Sautéed veggies are very good. Sidewinder pretzel was undercooked and dough-y in the middle. Beer and drinks were great! Service was good. Went back for a second time. This time our pretzel was made/cooked perfectly. Nice job. The only problem was that it came out 2.2 seconds before our main course. My wife had the same buffalo chicken sandwich and this time it was a full breast (1) piece which was much nicer than than two separate strips. I had the philly steak which was very tasty and once again the great sautéed vegetables. My only other continued dislike that I forgot to mention the first review is that the wine is all "on tap". Very limited wine selection and for us, not as tasty. I realize it's not a wine place, but it wouldn't hurt to have some descent to higher end bottles for purchase as an alternative option. Drinks and service are still good. We try to go at a more unconventional time because I can't deal with slow service. read more

We stopped here on a whim, because we were starving. It's a fun atmosphere and has a great premise, supporting our veterans. Typical brew-pub fare. We tried the burgers, fried chicken sandwich, and pizza. All were good. In another town it would be a 5 star stop, but Bozeman has so many great dining options, it's hard to compete. We also were there around 4:30, so maybe they were having a shift change, but the service definitly didn't stand out as exceptional. On a road trip and were looking for a local restaurant with good food. That is what we got! Our waiter Hans was awesome and gave us good suggestions. We started with the jalapeño poppers which were cooked to perfection. We got the chicken pot pie (at waiters request), Mahi tacos, and 3 burgers. All were cooked wonderfully and had good flavor. Short Version: I wanted Sidewinders to be a "West Bozeman" answer to Ale Works. In having a beautiful facility, casual atmosphere, and a great tap list, I'd say it is. Unfortunately, in all other respects, Sidewinders is actually more of a "West Bozeman" answer to a bad version of Applebee's--an Applebee's where servers are untrained and the food is prepared with neither craft nor corporate precision. Long version: 1) Our evening at Sidewinders began the evening by waiting for 20 minutes for a table, despite the many empty tables around us. 2) The food makes Applebee's look good by comparison. We ordered a couple plates of the Crispy Baked Brussels Sprouts as an appetizer, but received the Soggy Boiled From-a-Freezer-Bag Brussels Sprouts (the kind of preparation that gives the vegetable a bad name). The chicken was overcooked; the veggie burger (the sole non-salad vegetarian option on an otherwise extensive menu) undercooked and described as "gross." No one in our eight person group expressed any particular enjoyment of their food. 2) Our server clearly hadn't been trained. He didn't know the menu: asked to compare two similar style beers on the menu--the Draught Works Chocolate Porter and the MAP Brewing 80 Chain Stout, I believe--his deer-in-the-headlights was "I'd say go for the porter, because I generally like porters more." Later, he denied the existence of another beer on the menu ("we don't have that") until shown otherwise. 3) The service was generally poor--slow, oddly timed, reliant on us to pass plates or drinks. The beer that was ordered when the entrees arrived didn't appear until the end of the meal, after the plates had been cleared. 4) The pleasant atmosphere of the building was diminished by the presence of staff removing Christmas decorations around us (couldn't that be done in the morning?) and obviously completing their closing duties around us, despite it only being 9:00 pm or so. This is the most disappointing dining experience I've had in a newly opened restaurant in Bozeman in recent memory. Sidewinders is lucky--thanks to their location, they're likely to stay busy. It's possible that the restaurant will hire a manager with the skills and experience necessary to provide a good dining experience. For the time being, however, suffice it to say that I won't be going back to check if things have gotten any better any time soon. read more

I've been here twice now, and each time left feeling a bit underwhelmed. Collectively, the place feels a trendy Applebees, to borrow the comparison from other reviewers. So if you're into that. I ordered a burger the first time with sweet potato fries, and the burger came with a mountain of ham slices on it. Yes, I can read, and was expecting ham, (in a meaty mood I suppose) but it was so strange...limp pile of sliced lunch meat on a beef patty. The buns were what you'd make sloppy joes with at a church picnic, ie pretty basic. Fries, eh. I had a cocktail the second time, the Elk Hunter, which was good. Dinner - dry salmon, the bread is literally sandwich buns cut in 1/2. Grisly chicken in the chicken pot pie. Also had large potato hunks - not proportioned to the other veggies and chicken at all. Brown gravy on the chicken fried steak - I know that is a preference thing, but it was brown and not even tasty. We should have listened - overpriced mediocre food! We grabbed dinner to-go with family members who live locally and enjoyed it in our RV while staying in town this weekend. Everything we ordered was fantastic! My husband and I shared a chicken pot pie and an order of chicken fried steak. It was delicious...perfect comfort food! The side Caesar salad that came with the pot pie was so good, too! It was large, fresh and crisp and had a delicious homemade Caesar dressing. The spicy bbq and teriyaki wings were also delicious as were the potstickers. read more
