Walked around downtown looking for Sushi and ended up here. They have a great patio with a street view and a lot of sun. The first thing the servers bring you is an insanely addictive olive oil cucumber dip, paired with some warm naan. My buddy and I both ordered the gyro sandwich which was absolutely massive. The gyro was filled with tons of tender lamb, and covered in a great tzatziki sauce. The gyro got a tad bland after a while so I added the olive oil dip that I mentioned earlier. My husband & kids stumbled upon this place last night & were pleasantly suprised. The black tea & flat bread & dip were fantastic. I had a Greek burger which was amazing!!! Certainly one of the more under rated restaurants in Walnut Creek! More people should know about it. This place is awesome! The food tastes amazing, every single time! Also, free appetizer with a $5 dollar cocktail...... I am just saying. Its a smaller restaurant but the outdoor patio area is really pleasant year-round. Its a little cramped on a busy night, but trust me the food is well worth it. My favorite, if your trying to go healthy is the chicken kabob. I don't know what seasonings they use on that chicken but, yeah! If your craving something heavier in carbs, you have to try their calzone! I've dined here in the past and the food was good, not great but good. It's in a busy and nice location so great if you want to grab a bite while shopping, although parking can be tough. That's why I decided to order delivery today since I'm not feeling that great. I call to place my order and even though it says that they DO deliver, the person answering told me they don't (not friendly response either). GREAT PLACE!. I usually come here with my wife, and we always love the food, but really, the staff and owner are what make this place such an inviting place to come. They are soooo nice and kind, and make you feel like family. We just took 16 people here for a dinner on the patio, and everyone loved it! The food was spectacular, and venue was set up just right, and the service was better than in most 5-star restaurants. We, along with all of our friends who joined us can't wait to return. Try the smoked salmon appetizer, and the koubideh roll. The rice is always fluffy and perfect, and the kabobs (we had chicken, koubideh and filet mingon) were tender, juicy and cooked perfectly....and the homemade pita is the best! read more

I enjoy sitting outside on a warm, autumn night for dinner. I first came here two years ago in October while I was strolling around downtown Walnut Creek. Our waiter was friendly and sat us down quickly because there were only two other tables occupied when we arrived. The waiter brought us some Mediterranean bread and garlic sauce; the sauce is REALLY garlicky, but we love garlic so it was delicious for us. My boyfriend ordered Ossobuco, which is the Braised Lamb Shank, and it was pretty good, but my dish, the Pomegranate Chicken" was soooo yummy!!! It definitely beat his dish so he was trying to sneak his fork onto my plate the whole time haha. The sauce was sweet and the chicken was cooked to perfection. I've been trying to get my husband to Silk Road for a few years. Recently, we drove to W.C. to our favorite Vietnamese restaurant, which is closed on Mondays, so we walked to our other favorite Vietnamese restaurant & it is also closed on Mondays, so since Silk Road was between both of them, I persuaded my husband to give it a try. That was about 6 weeks ago & we've been back about 6 more times since then! The food is great, the portions are generous & the service is very good. We haven't found anything we don't like yet. You can't beat their lunch combos - I think it's $8 or $9 for 1 of 3 different combos or you can order off the regular menu. I love their dipping sauce that comes with the lavosh. At lunch, not only do you get the dipping sauce & lavosh, but they also bring you a generous serving of hummus that is excellent. I can't recommend one thing over another, because it's all GREAT! Even the desserts are awesome. I've tried their baklava - yummmm & their tiramasou - double yummmm! read more

Awesome place! This is definitely a hidden gem amongst the bugger, fancier restaurants in the area. Any day of the week you can come in for their happy hour which is $5 for a choice of one of four cocktails and endless fresh baked pita bread and tabouleh. You could fill up on that alone and stay on a budget, but don't skimp out on the rest of the menu! Gyros sandwich is ammmmaaaaazing! I love me some Mediterranean food! This place has some of the best kabobs I've ever had. The fillet, chicken and ground beef are all excellent. The service was OK. Apparently all the tables I wanted to sit at were "Reserved" but throughout my meal no one had come. The environment and decor is very tacky and the drinks were horrible. Great lunch specials. The pomegranate glazed chicken is amazing, as are the mashed potatoes. My husband has had a different meal every time and I've tried a few bites of everything - not a bad one in the bunch! Great hummus, too. We're never in Walnut Creek so I yelped this place. The only problem I have is that I'm never in Walnut Creek and won't be able to have this again. The lunch specials are huge, inexpensive and amazeballz. The dip they bring with bread for the table is like a combination of tabouli and balsamic/olive oil. My friends and I stumbled across Silk Road while looking for a restaurant which specializes in Mediterranean/Greek cuisine. We decided to try out this place after reading solid reviews on Yelp. For the most part, the dining area is situated in an outside patio. An indoor dining area is available, however, the space is small and limited during busy hours. Even though the temperature outside was around 40 degrees, the plentiful and powerful heat lamps kept us all warm and cozy while we dined in the patio. While looking through the menu and deciding what to eat, the restaurant served our table a generous amount of warm, fresh pita bread with a tasty, light dip. The best part was the waiters refilled our pita bread and dip whenever we finished eating everything. I ordered the Filet Mignon Kabob and it was served with saffron basmati rice and vegetables (broccoli & carrots). The filet mignon was well-flavoured and juicy. It could have been even more tender, but it was already above average. Some of the dishes my friends ordered include the Chicken Kabob, Roast Rack of Lamb, Koubideh Kabob, Moussake, and Lamb Shank. I tried a small amount of each dish and they were all delicious. Service at Silk road is stellar. The waiter was prompt, attentive, and friendly. Our waiter took the time to introduce, explain, and recommend different dishes to my party. The only downside to Silk Road is that the food is a bit pricey for the portions and for what it is worth. I can definitely find cheaper Mediterranean food with larger portions a quality closely-paralleling that of Silk Road elsewhere. read more

My good friend took me here She's Persian and said this place has the best Soltani, a combination meat dish. So freaking good! The place is listed as "Greek", and has some pastas, sandwiches, etc., that aren't really "Greek". This place is really a Persian restaurant, as it's Persian dishes are the best. I would've given this place the highest rating, if only they had stayed true to being Persian. However, because of Walnut Creek being a cultural wasteland, I can understand that most people would be turned-off, or discouraged by the label of "Persian". Ate here tonight with my husband and two young girls and we really loved it! Started us with the hummus/tabbouli and fresh baked bread which was delicious. My husband had the pomegranate chicken and it was yummy and priced right. Daughter had the kobedah kids meal and ate every bite. The only disappointment was my lamb kabob meal. For $17 I got 5 small cubes of lamb which were very tasty but definitely a lot pricier than deserved. We finished with a great baklava that was loved by all. Prawns were broiled and the spinach was raw so it came out like a salad, even tho it was listed under appetizers, not salads. A waste of money. We had lunch here earlier today. The ambiance is very comfortable and they have a ton of ourdoor seating(although we sat inside due to the loud noice from construction next door). My husband had the Pomegranite Chicken. He really enjoyed it. They give you A TON of chicken! It also came with veggies and mashed potatoes. I had a Gyro, ceasar salad and kabob(#3 special on their menu). It was also very tasty. The best part of all is there bread. It comes with a yummy garlic/oil/tomato sauce to dip in. They continue to refil the plate when you run out too!! Everything was fantastic!! Oh, and the prices are amazing! Our whole lunch was only $22 and it was a lot of food!! Went here for lunch and was amazed how well the service was and how tasty the food was. I had the veggie sandwich and it was HUGE- if you have a large appetite then go at it, but this plate could definitely be split amongst two people. Good food, but cleanliness here is a bit of an issue... we sat down at the table and their table cloths were dirty. I know they swap out the piece of butcher paper that sits on top of the table cloth, but they should swap/wash the table cloths too when they start to look dirty. I sat down and it looked like somebody had used the table cloth as their napkin... not a good start to the meal. Service is good, but slow, our food took forever... the food is good though, no complaints. A bit on the pricey side too. read more
