We didn't eat much here but the review is for the ambience! We had so much fun! They have a big screen in the middle part of the place, with a dueling piano show that made the experience even better! There is an outdoor area with a live band and a covered patio area with audio on the tv. They offer of course a variety of alcoholic beverages and their famous bucket drink. People watching was great here and we really enjoyed the bar. The waitress was wonderful and attentive amongst the busyness of the place which was impressive! Came to visit Beale Street and had our Dogs with us. Searched dog friendly establishments and found this restaurant was dog friendly. When we arrived we went to the patio entrance and was greeted with a very rude and mater of fact waitress that immediately said we do not accept dogs and I told here the websites said they were and her rude response was I'll let the new owners know. First visit to Memphis and they have a life changing sauce, sitting right there on the table! Their vinegar spice sauce has the best flavor - not too spicy, not too sour, just perfection! The new owner, I think her name is Anna, was kind enough to share her secret recipe with me! Can't describe how wonderful it is, and how kind she is! Service was perfect, the Pink Cadillac was not overly sweet. We had the chicken strips, gumbo, and bbq shrimp. Everything was cooked really well and the gumbo has amazing flavor! I didn't try the shrimp because my husband was too stingy to share, but I think the fact that he finished it in about 3 minutes says everything. What can one say and try to be kind. The deck was nice and so was the super nice waitress. Unfortunately the food was horrible and that is saying it nicely. The brisket sandwich was a tiny bun with a few pieces of brisket, with lots of gristle. Macdonald's is better. The ribs were very dry with were probably made in the Mojave. Silkys is know for the bbt bbuvjets of drinks and lIve music at night. But for a quick bite to eat for lunch, it's pretty good. I come for the ousters aand gumbo that is close to what this native Louisiana makes. The gumbo has a dark to roux and a good kick too it and filled with lots of meat and okra. I love the raw oysters - always fresh and the charbroiled oysters ar ent too shabby either! There's definitely more to Memphis cuisine than barbecue! read more

This is a really cool spot both inside and out on the patio. The food was good and the portions were plentiful. The only reason this is a three star and not a four are the prices. The food prices are simply outrageous. I understand times are tough and supply is short but this was over the top. We were in Memphis for five days and ate all over town. Nobody else was adding up-charges like they were. If it weren't so pricey we would've eaten there again. I am not sure I have ever been in a place that serves food that was as dirty at this place. On the ceiling to the side of us was netting to catch what might fall from the ceiling. A plane with a whiskey ad on it was hung right above us and the dirt was 3-4 inches thick on it, we covered our food to keep it from falling on our meal. I ordered a Heineken, hubby a non alcoholic. They were out of both. I had secured a late dinner reservation but hubby was "starved". He ordered 6 char broiled oysters. They finally arrived. The order was thrown down in front of me. I distributed the napkins, etc but we had to ask for forks for the hot oysters. The plastic arrived quickly. I smelled something funny, but hey, I'm a player. Hubby sweetly offered me a tasty bite---mmmm-- NOT. I said, " That's burnt buttered crackers!" The waitress returned and said, " Is the bread okay or do you want crackers?" Well, we know how oysters are served, right? I said yes that'd be nice. (Oh, I had to ASK for a glass for my beer). She literally threw them on the table. But I opened a pack, put an oyster on it & put it in my mouth. Which I immediately spit out! I've never tasted anything so nasty!!! Haven't been here in years but it was really nice to sit outside and listen to some outstanding Beale street blues, it just feels good. While it's easy to say it about a lot of places around here I think this is really one of the must stop places while on Beale Street. They've also got a good bar with yet more live music with food and fun drinks inside but outside is a good choice today. We started out with the requisite sausage and cheese platter which was outstanding, I had the BBQ beef plate and it was delicious and the coleslaw was excellent. Honestly you should be selective in your choices because they are first and foremost a bar and music joint, it's not done cuisine and you could be disappointed with certain seafood dishes but get yourself some good barbecue a cold beer and kick back and soak in all the Memphis charm. Fun fun fun!! We came on a Thursday night so it wasn't overly crowded. The dueling pianos were good and knew how to have a blast with the crowd while raking in some good money. Servers didn't want to wait on my sister and I when we walked in. We wanted to sit on the patio- the man at the front door stated that we would have to place an order at the bar for someone to bring it outside. We go to the bar, and the bartender stated that he would send a server out to us. We sit down outside (we WERE NOT the only table out there) and no one came up to us. We waved down an employee, he stated that "he got us" and didn't come back. He told another server, who was too busy laughing with another table. We asked another employee, she came up with an excuse that no server had that section, but the table she was waiting on was about 20 steps from the table where we were. I failed to mention that the table she had sat down 10 minutes after we did, and the same man at the front door sat them at that table. Needless to say, there's no need for us to ever come back. Silkys used to be fun, but the other night one of the outside bartenders named Tyler gave himself a 25% tip without my consent (which is already illegal). Then when I tried to talk to him about it he called me a "fa**ot" and kept asking what I was going to do about it. The other bartender (who was actually very nice) came in and tried to de-esclate situation, and while he was doing this Tyler came around the bar, shoved a dollar in my face and said "here's your dollar back b*tch." I have never seen someone so angry after tipping themselves over 20%. I hope poor Tyler has some happiness come into his life soon. read more

A big plus is sitting outside. We had the BBQ pork nachos. A little heavy on cheese and light on the pork, but was good. We did the full slab divided by 2. Which means they charge a little more and you get 2 cole slaw and beans. They should have homemade corn bread or biscuits. Not just a bun you can get at Costco. Oh man. This place was a BLAST. We stayed in the courtyard, and chugged a bucket and people watched to live music. It was the perfect combo of eager 20-something Greek system members, and aging tourists with everything in between. The absolute worst service I have had in a very long time. The server was pleasant and seemed fine when we first arrived. She took our order and then was a ghost. No drink refills, never came to check up On anything. Food runner dropped food and ran away. I literally said "excuse me" really loud trying to get someone, anyone's attention and no dice. In fact other patrons were watching and laughed about how ridiculous it was that we were being ignored. The cheese and sausage plate was tasty but the burger was awful. How you toast the bun yet it's actually cold to the touch as if it were refrigerated is beyond me. Also the patty was dry and half burned. Had to wait so long for her to come back to the table to pay I felt like walking out. Also no way to reflect anything as a poor service with minimal tip as the machine only offered options of 18, w20 and 25% for tip. I wanted to leave so bad I just hit the 18 to be done with it. If you've ever been to Pat O'Brian's in New Orleans, this is the Memphis equivalent. It's a huge bar and on a Saturday night on Beale, there's plenty going on. Inside, they have dueling pianos, outside, a live band and dance floor. Anything your heart desires, they have! What's great is that they have multiple bars throughout the space so it's never overly crowded when you're trying to get a drink, and their patio is so big, everyone can get a table! Very expensive. Didn't mind. I had the money. Tried to find out what the vinegar sauce tasted like but apparently the spout was clogged, so when I attempted to force the juice to come out, the lid popped off and splash, my pants and the floor and my friend's shoe were drenched with sauce. Pfff. Never got a discount or even really an apology, although they acted like they were concerned. They gave me a wet rag to wipe my crotch off--thanks a lot! The ribs weren't juicy with sauce but dry with rub but they were pretty good. I would give their ribs a better score if they hadn't acted like drenching their floor with sauce was MY fault, that their container of sauce malfunctioning was my fault--they even came up and sort of demanded payment for the bill as if they thought I might be making things up, maybe trying to skip out on the bill or something. We were barely sipping on our second drinks when the waitress came up asking if we wanted the bill so we said sure. Instead of leaving a bill and letting us look at it, she took out an electronic contraption and demanded our money right then and there on the spot, even suggested to us that we should tell her what percentage of tip we wanted to give so that she could calculate it for us as if we were some kind of morons. It was really rude. I mean, I had more money in my pocket than this little waitress makes all week but she's acting like I'm some kind of bum. Meal for two: about $127 (not a typo) not counting my $50 pair of pants destroyed. I gave an 18% tip (yeah, I figured that out all by myself in my own brain honey) and didn't even get a thank you for it. (Oh, forgot to mention the flies. Okay, we were outside in the garden but give me a break. Our $45 slab of ribs was so infested with flies that we spent most of our time at O'Sullivan's trying to swat them away.) Throughout the entire affair I acted like a gentleman and remained cool, because I intended to spend the rest of the evening in Memphis and didn't want to let these jerks spoil my fun. Atmosphere is what this place is all about, but I loved the oysters, too. So first, food, then I will talk about the atmosphere. But, many other reviews probably mention that. There were two oyster dishes on the menu that featured raw oysters prepared with what seemed like a cooked style. They were out of those. So, I got the broiled oysters. They were great. They were also very temperature hot. Be careful. The meat was not over cooked and the topping was great. They were swimming in a puddle of butter that was awesome. Loved it. My mom and I had the best time at Silky's. Taylor was our waitress and she was the best. When we arrived, it wasn't packed and we were able to get a table near the Beale Street walkway under the shelter outside in the patio. We ordered the gumbo and a side salad. The gumbo was delicious! The salad was great too. They actually gave me the right amount of salad dressing. While we were waiting for our food we were able to hear live music from a guitarist playing various genres. His music actually cause an influx of people to come in and dine. After I ate I was able to share my crackers with the Irish goats. Overall, Silkys was a great experience! Silky's is one of those places that you HAVE to visit whenever your in town. Every time I've gone to Memphis, I find myself wandering down Beale St. - and ultimately here. I've never had any food here, but the drinks are cheap and potent! I did try the Diver Bucket, not my cup of tea (tasted like red cough syrup) but it was a fun experience for our large group to order and try it. The dueling pianos are fantastic and provide endless late night entertainment options. The space is sprawling, and the bar leads into a very unique open air garden with lights, music and additional seating. (Be sure to find the goats!) read more

Service wasn't great - our server acted like she would rather be serving anyone else. We had to ask the food runner to refill our drinks. And when the server came back to ask about it - she acted like it was a huge inconvenience. My husband ordered the bbq platter. The brisket was full of fat & mushy.
