Let me start by saying that this place is a flexitarian's dream! But it's literally for everyone. And the ambiance is that of a vintage diner (so cute!). We were immediately greeted by host staff, sat within a reasonable time (11:00 am on a Tuesday), and our server Angie was awesome! She was mindful, accommodating, ready to offer recommendations promptly and didn't forget the lemon in our water. The menu itself was simple yet offered SO MANY OPTIONS. I got the vegan breakfast tacos and it was absolutely delicious! My partner loved his All American Breakfast (bacon, eggs, home fries and a biscuit) with coffee (which Angie kept topped off). Biscuit wasn't a rock either (iykyk)! This place has something for everyone-- vegan options, vegetarian options, reasonable substitutions, and plenty of meat too. And the best part is that everything is LOCALLY SOURCED and still affordable! To top it off, the manager (Jose) of the restaurant asked about our experience during the perfect time (after our meal) and when we told him how happy we were, and that it was our first time, he offered us a $5 off coupon! The ambiance is what you'd expect of a Diner comfortable booths etc. Service was a bit lacking - the burgers come with either fries or choice of veggie from veggie menu. I chose sweet potato fries from the veggie menu. The order came with regular fries. After informing the server that the order was wrong they took the fries and brought back a plate of about 15 sweet potato fries, the portion was much smaller than the regular fries portion. Corned beef hash -my stepdad said really good Eggs with sausage and bread - perfectly cooked eggs and the white toast was definitely a splurge but with it. I don't love the sausages here so I probably would just get bacon next time. Other than that, everything was perfect. I would recommend this place before a mall shopping trip! Let me get to the end before the beginning! This place was so good we came back the next day! It was an easy walk from our hotel but if u want to drive, they have plenty of parking. 3.5 stars Silver Diner is your reliable, I'm hungry I need food now sort of place. For some reason, it seems like the diner has lost popularity in recent years, but their food has gotten better. They have more selection, food seems to be healthier (?), and they stay open pretty late. Silver Diner is also great for groups, and their prowess really shows when you can order an array of appetizers and entrees for the entire table to try. Their burger isn't as juicy as you probably want it, and lacks a lot of flavor, but it's passable. The fried shrimp has a really tangy salsa that's super exciting to eat. The shrimp itself is average. As for the sweets, they were great. I don't think I've gotten the opportunity to eat at a diner since I went vegan. Most diners are animal-product centered with little to no vegan options, so this place was a breath of fresh air! I ordered the beyond meatballs "mac" n cheese. To be honest, I was a little hesitant to order it; I didn't know what to expect because the item description said it didn't have actual pasta on it. I'm happy to say that it was super tasty, though! It had a surprising depth of flavor and I happily ate every bite on my plate. My husband and I have had breakfast here at least three times now. We have had a good experience during each visit so far. The food is consistent, delicious and fresh. I would classify Silver Diner as a good family restaurant where kids are welcome. There was a line out the door on our last visit (probably because power was out in McLean) but the line moved quickly so don't let a line deter you.
