I wish I could say this experience was pleasant, but the longer I sat here, the more irritated I became. My mom ordered the country scrambler but with veggie sausage and no gravy (she's vegetarian). I ordered the Oaxaca omelet, and I ordered pancakes and sausage for my daughter. Our food came out rather quickly and it looked great until we were realized my mom's plate contained ham (doesn't even come with the meal!). The server was oblivious and it took two revisits and a manager to finally get the meal corrected. It is a shame that the quality of this particular Silver Diner has declined. The waiters are nice. However, the kitchen needs a lot of work. I am basing this review off of my third visit within 3 weeks at this particular location. The initial time the service was poor and the food was not made properly. We were given a complimentary entree coupon for a return visit. On the return visit the kitchen was extremely slow for breakfast food, and when you request an item from the kitchen after your food has arrived, you will be waiting food will be cold. On the third visit, again the kitchen was slow, I was given egg beaters as opposed to what was promoted on the menu as Amish eggs. And then when they corrected it, I asked for scrambled eggs and they just Fried the egg and just chopped it up. That's NOT scrambled eggs. I've only dined at Silver Diner a handful of times and I categorized it as another Denny's or IHOP style restaurant... but during my most recent visit, I noticed that they've spruced up their menu to the max! The boyfriend and I dined here for breakfast (FYI: it's served all day everyday) and were pleasantly surprised. They've jumped onto the "organic, fresh and locally grown" bandwagon to offer healthier dining options for both adults and children. I ordered the corned beef hash and eggs and the boyfriend ordered the western omelet. The portions were huge, the food was above average, our service was friendly and attentive, and the prices were just right. We're definitely adding Silver Diner to our list of breakfast options, especially now that they've revamped their menu. read more

Oh yum! We decided to pay the Silver Diner another visit - only this time, I am abstaining from meat, dairy and eggs so my perspective was a little different. Nevertheless, there are still some great options; I went with the mango vegetarian stir fry and it was SUPER good; I would definitely have that meal again. Hubs had a patty melt again since he loved it last time, and once again, it did not dissapoint! We also found it interesting (but great) that the sandwiches are served not only with fries, but a vegan slaw (with cranberries) so you know I had to sneak a few bites of that in, too! Yippee kay yay for the healthy delicious menu items they have going on. My favorite dishes to date are the following: -Power Breakfast -Roasted Veg Salad -Roasted Veggies with Quinoa (usually comes with pasta but you can ask for quinioa) -Gluten free coconut pancakes - so tasty and delicious -Gluten free coconut french toast Other items friends have tried are: bison burger, vegetarian chili and some healthy chicken dishes. Personally I would suggest the chicken and waffles or the club sandwich. However on my most recent visit the waiter seemed a bit confused and made a few small mistakes on our food. A shiny alternative to local fast food joints! If you can have the patience and tolerate the long lines during peak hours, then this is pretty good fare. The dishes, service, cleanliness and ambience is consistent, unfortunately the food is at best, middle-of-the-road. Nothing here sparkles with 'eat me' flare, nor does their elaborate menu jump at you for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Silver Diner Springfield is my favorite! I've been going there for about 10 years and I've never had a bad experience. Plus, over the years they've changed up their menu so much - I'm a big fan. The latest menu has some great changes, more so because they are going "local and farm fresh!" I went in last night, about 10 minutes before they were going to close - nicest wait staff ever! They still took our order and let my friends and I hang out well past closing. The "Raging Cajun Scrambler" was right on - with peppers, ham, and jalapenos in the eggs, served with strawberries and silver dollar pancakes (which I was happy to find out I could have as chocolate-chip pancakes!) It's yum, they're nicer than nice, prompt, clean, AND they have never screwed up my order. Ever. I bet they'd even let me order off the kid's menu if I asked. Top THAT IHOP! read more

The kids of two of our closest friends RAVE over this place, and they come here all the time, and I scrolled back to the two most recent Elite reviewers, both of whom, gave Silver Diner 5 stars, and I love diners, so I was psyched! The waiter was in the weeds, so I will give him a break for being never around, but when he was a round, he was not good at his job. I asked for no mayonnaise, it had mayo on it. Jeff asked for horseradish, it never arrived, my mimosa was unrecognizable as a carbonated drink, and I was changing my mind on what I wanted when he came to me for my order, so I asked him to get my husband's order then come back to me, and he said, "I am sorry, I have to take the orders in the order that you are seated." What kinda waiter is that? The only positive thing I can say about Silver Diner was that the birthday celebration, singing, entertainment thing was the best I have ever seen. There was a table near us where an approximately 10YO girl was having her birthday brunch, and the waiter who led the birthday announcement and song was better than a Disney World performing waiter. He was awesome. So, Silver Diner gets a big, "MEH," from me. Cold food, yucky cold fries, over cooked burgers, uninspired salmon sliders, bad mimosa, poorly trained, frazzled waiter, and generally a disappointing experience. Came her twice a bit ago ms never reviewed. First time I had the bison burger and it was amazing. I would say order with cheese and toppings to give it the extra edge I got mine with Swiss, mushroom and caramelized onions. It was amazing, super lean and very tasty. The second time I got the Bison Huevos Rancheros and that is the photo. It was the perfect mix of sweet, salty and tangy. I've never in my life tasted something so rich, perfectly mixed with ingredients for breakfast and less than 14 a plate. This was a shocker and definitely a game changer. The service both times was phenomenal as well. Servers stayed on top of drink refills, needs of the table and were amazing to my four year old. They committed the cardinal sin of delivering a real burger to my veggie guest promising it was so real it looked like a meat product but was veggie. The speed of service was ok but a little slow for milkshake delivery because when our milkshakes came out they were melted. :( I tried the bison sliders - edible but not the greatest, the coleslaw was good but would have been better if it was colder. Saturday Night....had heard from friends in the area this was a diner with fresh and organic options and decided to scope it out with Mom while spouse was working. When I walked in, I stood in a small line, about 12 persons. We were seated in about 10 minutes. Server was nice but a little overbearing. I appreciated her enthusiasm, but it was a bit much for us and clearly some of her other tables. We were sad because some of the tables hav individual jukeboxes on them but ours did not happen to have one. There's a wide variety of fresh comfort foods with locally-sourced ingredients. Had trouble deciding what to order because everything looked so good. The server had to come back 3 times because we were so indecisive. Was torn between the chicken pot-pie ($14.99) and chicken parmesan($13.99), and I ultimately ordered the chicken parm. Mom got the meatloaf and told the server it was too salty. The chicken parm was fried crispy with a smallish helping of mozzarella accompanied by spaghetti in a tangy sauce. Tasted like it had sat under the heat lamp for a few minutes at least. And the first bites were yummy...but ended up being a matter of "diminishing returns" (a concept my HS Econ teacher tried to illustrate with "Poor Boy" sandwiches...but my friend, Fran, refused to believe). It ended up being something where the sum of the parts was less than the individual parts (or maybe it was just too much?) My buddy went with the same, though without the chocolate chips. In some ways, it was different...and probably better as it wasn't so sweet. Service was just okay...sat there nearly 10 minutes before someone came up to us. And my pomegranate milkshake was delivered so far after my FT that I thought they had forgotten to make it. That said, the milkshake was shaky...definitely the worst part of the meal and I don't recommend this one. I love pomegranates...what I tasted, I don't know...but do know it wasn't pomegranates. I have come to the Silver Diner, during all parts of the day and many times, and I have never been disappointed. Also, the ambiance is really "classic diner," with jukeboxes and family atmosphere. The music playlist is always on point, as well. Everything they serve is always delicious and consistent. The servers are always very attentive and friendly- and they have no problems with substitutions, which is great! My favorite breakfast dish is the corned beef hash, which is really well cooked and a generous portion. Although I have not ordered anything besides the breakfast because it is always too tempting when you have the option all day long, the burgers and shakes look really good. The only downside for me is that they never have hot sauce on the table. My mom unfortunately got the cornbeef hash which usually on the west coast is as safe as you can get. But the cornbeef hash was just not looking right. Bland and looking as if it was thrown out from the can, my mom kept stealing bites from my own plate. Which was A-OK with me! Service was great and It was a good thing we got in by 9 because by the time we left at 10 the line was out the door. REALLY?? Wait staff was courteous, place was clean, the menu doesn't disappoint, and the price is right. My fiancé and I went here looking for a good vegetarian meal. She ordered a pineapple and noodle dish, and I got the meatless miso burger. We were both happy with the food we got and thought the price was fair. The bread pudding was stellar! I almost ordered a second one because we devoured the first one so quickly and I wanted more. The food is very well cooked and will not be heavy in your stomach. The last time I went I tried the banana Nutella shake. While it wasn't amazing it was above average. The banana taste is so strong you really cannot taste the Nutella. I would also suggest getting the steak and cheese is that is your thing. Food was great, but the place was filthy! We have been here many times, but not witching last year, and were surprised to see how dirty everything was. As I sat down at the table- my shirt was covered in jam/syrup from the side of the table. When our baby dropped a crayon and I looked under the table- so much food- how hard is it to quickly swipe before next person? And to add insult to injury I touched my leg to underneath of the table, and yes- you guessed it - got my pants covered in jam. Are you kidding me?
