My sister has been talking this place up for a few months. I like a good cup of coffee, but I'm not super picky. I thought "it's probably good." The chains are fine and I'll even drink McDonalds coffee in a pinch....BUT WHOA. Silver Horse might make me rethink my feelings on coffee in general. I ordered my standard non-fat latte and it was easily THE BEST COFFEE I HAVE EVER HAD. I know. That's a big statement. I found myself daydreaming about that latte 1200 miles away and at my desk yesterday afternoon. That. Good. I am so looking forward to moving back to PA and hitting the Horse up every single time I drive to/from Hidden Valley. Also - the place is freaking darling inside and the service was wonderful. No barista boiling your espresso and misspelling your name for $7...you get the owner carefully constructing your drink and chatting about which runs are open. And reasonably priced! Two coffee drinks were under $8. I really hope people find this place and support it so it will be there for all eternity!!! read more

Wow. Just wow! This place is amazing! We missed all the fast food breakfast windows but wanted breakfast options, and this place was highly rated and on our way home, so we decided to give it a try. My husband and I both ordered separate burritos and I also ordered a muffin for the road. We ate the burritos in the car while I fed the baby, and it was so good I had to have more. I sent my husband in for round 2. All three were delicious! His vanilla latte was made to perfection, and when asked to compare it to that of his usual big-name coffee shop, he said "I would argue this is better." (That's a HUGE compliment coming from someone who gets that latte very often!) There was no line so we didn't have to wait and everything was hot and fresh. The staff were friendly and personable, while making sure the order was correct and served quickly. The building was clean and there seemed to be a lot of local business merchandise options to purchase, which is pretty cool! Anyway, stop reading this review and go get a burrito and some coffee. Three words for you- coffee ice cubes. Three more words- no extra charge. Whatttt? That's something I have never experienced at a coffee shop for you. If you're ordering an iced coffee or cold brew, expect delicious coffee ice cubes with your drink. Can't beat that! Every other coffee shop I've ever been to that even offered coffee ice cubes (not many) charge additionally for them. I love that this place doesn't do that. I also love their huge selection of drinks, and the local products they sell in the shop! Stickler's pops, Millie's ice cream, chocolate, pottery.. they have it all! My friend and I decided to forgo our hotel free coffee and WAIT til this place opened (8:00am) to support a local business. First thing the barista says is "let me guess, you guys are going to Fallingwater" as if that is something to be ashamed of. We ignored her tone and while she was fixing the smallest "large" coffees I've ever seen, the owner comes in and greets us with the proclamation that he hates Ohio. I asked him how he knew we were from Ohio and he tells me he saw my license plates and proceeds to tell me all the reasons he hates Ohio including all the Ohio sport's teams. Then he tells us the reason the little town of Ohiopyle is named that (and it was not particularly flattering). At this point I was just stunned and said, I guess you like Ohio money though. And he made some snide remark about not caring because he sells a "quality" product and that's all he "cares about". Oh, and he wanted to make sure we know he is a rafting guide. We were super impressed. Maybe he has some kind of reverse mentality marketing plan but we will not be going back to the Youghagheny next spring to raft as we had planned. I hope this dude is not on the area's Chamber of Commerce. Thanks bud, for fucking up a perfect day. We left no tip (sorry barista) and I yelled "go buckeyes" as we walked out. Pretty messed up when the local economy is probably fairly dependent on tourists that include people who live in Ohio. read more

This place is such an adorable coffee shop! Such a nice vibe. I got a dirty chai with vanilla (the baristas favorite) and it was AMAZING! My friend, who is a iced coffee connoisseur, absolutely loved their ice coffee and wish she got a larger size! Pumpkin scone was so good and happy they had it even though it's more of a fall flavor. And we both got breakfast burritos! They are already premise, they just put them on a grill but they were good! Having them premade helps get people in and out. A very lovely local place that provides local healthy food and great coffee. Six of us stopped by for lunch and had a great time. I really appreciate the energy and enthusiasts they share even when it is on the day of Christmas! I ordered peppermint mocha coffee, veggie burrito, and a raspberry scone. The scone is so moist and you can taste every bit of raspberry. I love my veggie burrito so much with tons of spinach, broccoli, pepper, and cheddar cheese. I am not a big fan of the spicy sour cream. The coffee is also great without a strong flavor of peppermint which I loved. All their pastures, cookies, and desserts come from local stores and bakeries. They also sell handcrafts as well if you are interested. Our friends loved the pulled pork burrito, chicken flatbread, and blueberry scone (with white chi Kate chips inside, so good!). The price is also reasonable. I forgot to mention that I want almond milk instead of milk when ordering and they were kind enough to switch that during the middle of coffee making. I am very grateful for that. read more

What a great tasting and cool coffee shop. This is literally the only legit coffee place near Seven Springs and it's always mine and my husbands goal to find hipster coffee shops when traveling and this fit the bill. Service was friendly and both ladies behind counter were wearing masks unlike another review indicated. My special caramel apple latte with oat was really good, no artificial sweetness and super impressed that they don't charge extra for alternatives to milk. Why can't the mega coffee shops follow suit but the little guys don't charge? Much appreciated! The breakfast burritos were big, nicely grilled pressed, and tasty! We bought some of their beans from a State College roaster and the smell is intoxicating and it brewed such a delicious cup. Great stop, you won't be disappointed! read more

I so wanted to give this place 5 stars because it's in such a cool place and has an awesome atmosphere. And with a name like "Silver Horse Coffee" it has to be great right? Coffee was good. Atmosphere is great. I bought some espresso beans to have at home. But the muffin I had was kind of.. not great. Served VERY cold - as if it had come straight from a freezer and had just thawed enough to eat it. I don't mind a chilled muffin but this was beyond chilled. Asked to get it heated up and the "barista" acted as if I bothered her. Got it heated and it was literally as cold as it was before. Not a big deal really, I mean you go for coffee, not food. But I asked for something else and I've never felt more embarrassed as the barista was very cold, short, and in my opinion, rude. I hate to give a place a bad review based off one persons bad day.. but.. it was pretty bad. Would be happy to bump it up to 5 stars with better service. Updated to add: I really appreciate the heartfelt and humble apology I received from the business owner. I unfortunately won't be in the area but I trust they'll investigate the complaints so the next customer has a better experience. Stopped by during our Road Trip. Me and the Husband both got the Silver Bullet. Its a cold brew with an espresso shot, heavy cream, and their flavor blend. I loved it. Gave the husband the jitters. I got a steak burrito and he got the "pork"upine burrito. Both were excellent. It was a quite atmosphere and the Barista was friendly. In addition to coffee, they sell regional ice creams, chocolate, and jerky. They have a few non-food items for sale as well, including candles and patches. We tried a variety of drinks between our group. The pour-over (using KLVN beans) was fruity and bright. My cappuccino was perfectly made, though overpriced. Their specialty drinks are very unique - one was made with espresso, lemon, and cream, which I've never seen before and which tasted like a lighter, drinkable version of frozen custard. There's a variety of seating: window counter, high top tables, and a lounge area. The space feels cozy and inviting, and would be a good place to sit and chat with friends. The surrounding area is great for connecting with nature, adventure sports, or peace and quiet, but I sometimes miss the amenities of a city. Silver horse is a solution. read more

So I've been passing by this place for almost 2 years traveling back and forth to Philadelphia monthly. Finally today I stopped in and grabbed an ice coffee which was really good. The selection and assortment of drinks with flavor shots etc was spot on plus they do burritos! I loved in the interior of this place very cozy def a nice change from Starbucks and great for taking some time off the PA Turnpike to relax and reenergize. Customer service was super friendly. My sister and I went here to get coffee for us and our party that were staying near by. First off, the music was being played entirely too loud. We got to the front of the line and I ordered first. I told the man that I wanted a pour over for my mom. His response was "I'm just going to give you a drip coffee because I don't have time for a pour over." Then my sister ordered. When we met back up in the car, I found out that her two coffees and two scones were $19. I got two coffees, a scone, a biscotti, and two juice boxes and mine was $18. We wouldn't know anything about how much we paid for what though because they don't give you a receipt. None of our scones had any flavor and all of the food there is frozen and microwaved. The coffees were very bland as well. I got maple, my sister got caramel, and my mother-in-law got vanilla and they all tasted exactly the same. The decor is very eclectic and inviting. It's a small place, but very cozy. The staff was super friendly! The girl who was waiting on me struck up a conversation with me, as if we had been friends for a long time. They have a nice selection of coffees, and I opted for a chai tea latte that day, it was delicious! They also carry muffins and other baked goods. It's definitely the type of place that is tucked away and waiting to share it's charm with travelers along Rt. 31. They also have a stand at the Ligonier Country Market on Saturday mornings.
