The other reviews are not steering you wrong. I was traveling with the family and looking for a great steak house... You MUST try the prime rib. Very generous cuts and absolutely perfectly cooked. Also terrific service, great kids' menu and a warm cozy atmosphere. Note the surrounding neighborhood looks pretty shady but is not representative of the restaurant. I've been eating here for lunch for years. It's a welcome break when you're tired of Mexican food in South Tucson (which doesn't happen that often, frankly!) Best lunch steak in town - order the Kansas City (don't fall for the sirloin they're always pushing on special). The KC is a small t-bone that is cooked to perfection. I'm sorry. I would love to write a stellar review. While the Staff is wonderful; this is the last place I would come for a steak! The salad bar is sub par with imitation bacon bits and a limited selection of salad dressings. The bread was rolls microwaved which made them to tough to even cut with a steak knife. They put "cheese sauce" on the baked potatoes. Wow, my steak, chicken and rib combo meal was delish!! Steak was perfectly cooked to my request. Hubby had the rib eye and it was undercooked to his request so they had to seed it again. No biggie, was was delish too. The French onion soup is amazing. Puts Red Robin to shame. Homemade and so worth it just to go their for the soup! I like how that have a bar in the back to have a drink while you wait for your table. Salad bar concept is a bit inconvenient. You serve yourself, I much rather have someone serve it to me. The ranch was out and the line was huge to wait. I rather just not have salad to not deal with that. Bread was super and they give extra if you ask. Passing through town and wanted a steak, I was here as a single at 5:30 on a Saturday, seated with no wait, even though I was early for a 6:00 reservation. Service was fine, menu looked good. I had the clam chowder, though I certainly know better. It was standard gelatinous cream of cornstarch that you find in places nowhere near the ocean, with more carrots in it than clams. Two biscuits tasted pretty nice, though they were not warm enough to defeat the refrigerated butter cups. Likewise the baked potato; I asked for it loaded, and it was barely lukewarm once I mashed the fixings in. The Porterhouse was generously thick, through quite sinewy, and somewhere between medium-rare and rare, rather than the medium I requested. It was a huge piece of meat though, and I payed roughly the same for it as I would have paid for a thinner porterhouse at a Sizzler in Sacramento, CA. This is probably my favorite steakhouse in Tucson. It feels like a classic western steakhouse. From the big light covered sign sign in front to the brick and wood interior with the pit sitting in the heart of the dining room. The salad bar is always fresh. I always find it so difficult to pick the porterhouse or the prime rib. Nearly every time I get the prime rib, and I am always glad I did. It is better than any other place in Tucson that I have had prime rib from. The price for a big slab of meat like this is hard to beat. The cowboy beans are always great as well. The food was mediocre for us. We are big steak fans, frequently visit Flemings and Ruths Chris but I wouldn't say we are sneak snobs. We love a well cooked tender steak, well my queen cut prime rib was dry and tough- not the sort of mouth watering prime rib you can cut with a butter knife. Plus they had no sauteed mushrooms, I find it strange that a steakhouse would not offer mushrooms. The nachos were literally just store bought chips with a sprinkle of shredded cheese. The portions are big so props on that, and the salad bar was yummy, I especially liked the ranch and the salad toppings, but we didn't drive 40 minutes to a steakhouse and pay $80 for a salad bar, plus our server forgot the rolls and I had to keep asking him for refills. read more

I had the sampler plate that consisted of ribs, chicken, and steak. It was quite good. The service was good and the atmosphere was decent. It was a bit loud overall, but when a person attends a restaurant such as this one in the evening for dinner, that tends to happen in most places. Good Margaritas, and I had the sampler platter for a taste of ribs, steak and chicken. I feel it's usually sacrilege to order chicken at a steak place, but this was some of the juiciest grilled chicken I've had, and the BBQ sauce has a nice tang to boot. Ribs were pretty good, and steak was good too. French onion soup was not that great as the broth was bland and watery with mediocre Swiss cheese on top. What can I say, I've been spoiled with the homemade stuff so I guess that makes me an onion soup snob! I'd go back to the Saddle. Took the in laws who were visiting from California. They both raved about their meals. I had the combo, and expected the steak to be a bit tough, as the smaller cuts in combos like that often are. It was super tender, and cooked to perfection. All in all a great meal. Would come back for sure. Only odd thing was the placement of the salad bar. Came here for dinner, and ordered the sampler which was smoked chicken, the ribs, and also the steak. 3 items, the smoked chicken was really delicious, however the state seem to lack a little flavor and the ribs were a little bit dry. As for atmosphere this is a great looking restaurant run by a family and they provide amazing service so fantastic job on that! Services a huge thing for me and these guys did not drop one single ball the whole night, even though they were very very busy. Overall Silver Saddle was good. I had the Ny Strip and hubby had sirloin. Steaks are not seasoned, but added salt, pepper and butter and it was perfect. We are from the Orange County, California and stopped at this place after seeing good reviews on here. We were a little skeptical as we always are when trying a new place in a town we are not familiar with at all, but this was definitely a good choice! The place is clean, the lights were dim, the grill is out in the open so you can actually see your meats being cooked, and the staff was very friendly. The waitress attended us in a timely manner, was very nice and constantly kept checking on us. Special shoutout to the guy grilling! My brother had ordered a NY Strip but saw the Ribeye on the grill and the guy let him know that his order wasn't on the grill yet and he could gladly change it AND he even remembered exactly how it was supposed to be cooked off the top of his head. We absolutely love this steakhouse. Drive down from Phoenix to eat here for good steak and then drive back. The owner up front is always extremely welcoming no matter how busy they may be. Hostess service was horrendous! We were told we couldn't make a reservation and when we got there, they asked us if we had a reservation! The food was rather bland and the ambience was like Mel's Diner if you remember the show. (It's like a truck stop if you don't ). Ate here April the 28th. The food was 2/5, it needed salt or really any flavor at all. We ordered a porterhouse steak and a sirloin, both were the same. Service was great, 4/5. Prices are on par with a great steakhouse food wise, and this doesn't really warrant those prices from the food alone. Steak fries were fantastic, and the potato salad at the salad bar was amazing.
