The biggest appeal to this place is that it's 3 minutes from our house and can quell our sushi cravings in a pinch. But if we're in the mood for quality sushi and good service we'll need to travel a bit farther away. Rolls - fish was ok, rice was mushy. Large selection of special rolls. Service - Slow, inattentive Ambiance - leaves a LOT to be desired. I don't mind dive-y restaurants as long as other areas make up for it - in this case, nothing made up for it I'm sure we'll be back because of the convenience - perhaps next time we'll try to snag a seat at the sushi bar which seemed like the place to be to get decent service. Finally tried this place with a friend tonight. The server didn't have the lights on, which he explained made the temperature in the restaurant go up by 10 degrees. We didn't mind, we could see the menus just fine. The appetizer scallops wrapped with bacon and teriyaki were to die for! We ordered several sushi rolls, my favorites were the Money roll and the Chris roll. The rolls weren't as filling as I've had at other sushi bars. We ended up having $51 worth of sushi and this is with no drinks-only water! I'm usually fairly full with one good sized sushi roll, so to me, this is a lot to spend to be full. Oh...and it got really busy around 6pm-and very loud. But, its to be expected on a Friday night. *****UPDATE***** We went again and everything was fine until they got busy. I actually called ahead to ask if they got busy on Sunday evenings. I was told that Sunday evenings weren't busy. As soon as 6pm rolled around, they got busy. Anyways... We ordered the Chris roll and the Lobster roll (not really lobster, btw). The Chris roll had green onions in it, which I didn't remember being in the roll the last time I was in. Neither one of us like onions, so we ended up not finishing it-I actually spit my piece out onto a napkin (which I never do with food, usually). Our waitress was too busy with other people for us to complain. I really didn't think we should have had to pay for the Chris roll. We quickly paid with no tip and left. We won a coupon at a golf tournament and decided to go even though we live in Granite Bay. It is awesome and the friendliest place ever. We has pepper fin which we try at all Japanese restaurants and it was the best we have had. The sauce is A little spicy so watch out but the fish isn't . The only reason I didn't give Silver Sake five stars is because the service can be abysmally slow and I have been ignored a couple of times when I tried to get the attention of our server. (Looked right at me and practically ran to another table to refill water.) Ordinarily, such poor service is enough to keep me from patronizing a restaurant. In spite of the spotty service, I love the sushi and the atmosphere. The fish is fresh and tasty. The prices are good. I have not been disappointed - not even a little bit - with anything I have ordered. So, I will hope for the best as far as service goes when I return because, so far, the food has been worth it. My best friend & boyfriend are roommates in the area. We're all still pretty new to the area & have been trying different restaurants to find what's good. Really craving some japanese food & decided try this place. Ordered mixed tempura and tonkatsu donburi. The tempura was limp and lightly battered. No flavor & the breading was barely there. The "katsu don" was just a pork cutlet & fried egg over rice (basically a pork katsu plate). Those 2 dishes are not the same at all. SIlver Sake is not big on being a family environment but I'm not one to complain about it. If you just want a nice night out with your kids with no disturbances, I wouldn't recommend coming here. BUT, if you want to kick it with your friends and meet some of the chillest servers/chefs you've ever met then this place is for you. Although we got seated in some off the side lounge area that had couches instead of tables, the staff was really accommodating and awesome people to hang with. The workers will take a drink with you here or there which is totally fine with me. We ordered two platters and completely cleaned them both. Food here is fresh, well-made and delicious. I am sorry to be the one to blow the whistle on this place and say negative things. First of all I will start with the good stuff. People there are very friendly and very nice. The customer base is also young and very nice and fun. Here is the bad stuff. This place is not clean at all. They wipe the tables with this dirty rag that sits in a disgusting bucket of water that is on the floor. After they wipe a table or a counter inside the kitchen or anything, they throw the rag back in the bucket until the next table needs to be wiped. The tables are quite sticky and disgusting. Of course the menus are sticky and quite disgusting as well. The waiters put those menus under their arms by their arm pits then hand them to us when we get seated. Well that takes me to the wonderful crew that works there. Yes they are very very nice, but still the are dressed up in disgusting not very clean clothes. They keep pulling their pants with their hands. They shake people's hands that walk in or leave then go in the kitchen and handle food and bring it out to people. The crew is really not very clean. There are a couple of people in the kitchen the wear gloves, but honestly they touch everything with those gloves as if they are wearing the most disgusting gloves. I have been meaning to check this place out and I was not disappointed. I heard great things from friends, all true! The chefs and staff are awesome! They can talk and work at the same time, they make you feel like you have known them forever. May even be willing to do sake shots with you. :) The food was amazing! The rolls were tasty and fresh. I had the lobster roll, t&a roll, and the bubba roll (has bacon on it) sooo delicious! Also you can do chefs choice if you can't decide. I also had the silver sake nachos as an appetizer, so unique and delicious! I urge you to try them, you will not disappointed. Atmosphere is cool too. The bar area is energetic and active! My friends and I sat in the lounge area, where we were able to relax and enjoy our evening. There was never a dull moment, but if we were there was a flat screen tv to keep us occupied. I left and though, man that was pricy for a pepper fin and a rainbow roll. I came home, and it was the worst sushi I have ever eaten. The pepper fin was nothing exceptional, and the rainbow roll was abysmal. The fish topping did not even cover the top part of the rice. This sushi restaurant is not for everyone, but it is still amazing. The regulars are a family. Everyone is loud and having fun while the drink and eat sushi. Not everyone would like this. If you're looking for a quiet, non packed restaurant for a sushi date, this restaurant is not the place for you. It is loud and packed, and that is a great atmosphere (for me). The staff is friendly but hey do get busy so sometimes quick service is not always there, but they will stop if you flag them down. They just get busy. Don't be a shy baby and say something. The food is great. There pepperfin tuna is great and the Scoobydoo roll is fantastic. Wrapped in cucumber and fresh fish...can't beat it. The price is worth it! And just for the record for those that don't know, you do NOT use a spoon for miso soup lol! A lot of the reviews complaining about it must only be friends goin there etc.? Really? This is NORMAL behavior at Japanese restaurants. You drink and can buy drinks for them, they make up differ rolls for u to try, they give u the "friend" treatment and a lot of times, u become more of a friends than a customer. Anywho.. I LOVE this place. I came 30mins before closing and never felt rushed. Food came out in a very timely manner. Food was great! We tried the miso soups, Zing chicken and 2 rolls. We love this restaurant. Fresh fish, great unique dishes. We always order the Zings, the Silver Sake nachos and a few rolls. We usually would give them a 5 star rating but I would caution you to dine-in only and not use DoorDash or other food delivery services for them. The time schedules given on the deliveries are never accurate and 3 out of our last 5 orders took in excess of 2 1/2 hours. I understand that delivery services can be difficult because they don't receive tips on the orders but if they can't fulfill the orders they shouldn't use the delivery services that night. If this were a 1 time problem then I wouldn't mind, but it's not. We will still go there for dine-in because we love the food but won't be ordering for delivery from them again. read more

Ok, this review is in the hopes that this was just a terribly off day because I'm the type where I don't give a crap if you're super nice or fill my water without me asking -- when I come to a restaurant, I want the food I ordered in a timely manner. It's a Sunday, barely past 6:00 PM, and I'm unfortunately hungry and craving sushi, but your sushi chefs are doing shots with customers at the sushi bar. It was bad enough we had to wait as long as we did for our food, but it wasn't even an hour into waiting for our food that the chefs were already AT LEAST FOUR SHOTS deep... the waiter, bless his heart, provided us with some miso soup like 30-45 mins in and told us the chefs were "a little backed up", and that was nice... but it didn't help that we were only getting even hungrier while watching the chefs that were SUPPOSED to be working just take shot after shot after shot. I'm sorry, I hate to be a stick in the mud, but you're at WORK. I get that your whole mantra or whatever is treat your customers like family, but even I would be pissed if my family was like "oh we were going to make you dinner... but you just gonna have to wait bc we'd rather get wasted." Oh, and a table that arrived after us got all their food way before us?? Even though we ordered the same appetizers as two other tables??? And all theirs came out first???? The sushi was mediocre in general. None of our rolls were rolled tight, they just kind of fell apart when we tried to pick it up, which also doesn't help that none of them tasted especially good. Not especially bad, like the service, but not especially good. All in all, for the entirety of our dinner, the chefs took 5-6 shots with customers, this lady was clearly super drunk and insisting that she looks like Matt Damon because her dad looks like Matt Damon (good for you), our bill was $85 for the nachos, three rolls, and two large beers, and every fiber of my being wanted to tip $0 because this place is like the bottom of the barrel when it comes to sushi restaurants. 1 star for getting food to us at all, and passing your health inspection I guess. read more

Today was a very meaningful day to me. We ordered vegetarian sushi to celebrate my son's birthday. He passed away when he was 17 and his favorite food was sushi. First time here. My rolls were ok, but I felt like I was eating in a petri dish. The place was grimy. There were three waitstaff. Two men and a woman. One of the guys look like he just rolled out of bed and hadn't showered in weeks. We got there about 6:30 Thursday night and it was very crowded. We got a seat immediately but it took about 10 minutes to get our menus and waters. No big deal it seems pretty busy. We finally get around to ordering, two standard sushi rolls for my wife and the chirashi bowl for me. About 30 minutes after ordering my wife's two rolls were brought out but not my dish. She waits about 5 minutes before we decide she should just eat her rolls without me. 5 minutes after that I ask our server if my dish is coming. He said it should be and leaves to check. 15 minutes later a different server tells me that my dish should be out shortly, by this point my wife had finished her rolls (they weren't very good with an overpowering mayo flavor that reminded me of fish tacos). If you haven't had chirashi before it is just a variety of sashimi on top of a bowl of sushi rice, something that should only take a chef a minute or two to prepare. Another 15 minutes pass and the first server now says he is very sorry for the wait and he'd like to offer us a $20 gift certificate in reparation and if I still wanted my dish. By this point it was getting late and I didn't want to go somewhere else to eat especially since my wife had already eaten so I ask them to continue preparing the dish. At last my dish finally comes. It, unlike the rolls, was delicious but the wait definitely was not worth it. Our bill comes along afterwards with a $10 gift certificate. Not wanting to cause a scene for a gift certificate we will never be back to use we closed our bill. We finally leave about 8:45, more than two hours after getting there. read more

Too much went wrong to consider returning. Really negative experience all around. The smell was horrible and unclean, the tempura was burnt and inedible, the rolls were way below average. The slices of fish were so thin they fell apart, EVERY item has tempura and/or onion, and the freshness is certainly questionable. Then there is the service.... it didn't exist. Waited for a long time to get our food, and they never checked back. The Waitress came to the table next to us three times after we finished eating and didn't even look at us. We never did get a check, I had to go to the register and explain. While waiting in line at the register the manager was so busy yacking with a friend he couldn't be bothered to help anyone in line. To top it all off, the prices were in line with some of the nicer places with better food. So, to sum it up: you will pay big prices for a dirty restaurant with lousy food and worse service. Not a bargain for me. When I complained they simply shrugged me off. The only reason we tried this is because Crazy Sushi on Fulton was closed. Definatley a small, hole in the wall location, but the atmosphere is worth the drive.
