First of all this is a small restaurant. Recommend reservations - even on a Wednesday night. There were 4 of us 1 app, 4 dinners, 4 mixed drinks, 2 glasses of wine, 2 coffees and 2 desserts about $200. The anti pasta was large and varied. Drinks were good as were the dinners. Eggplant parm was crispy and fresh. The cheese lasagna was good. Osso Buco was the special and a good choice. Desserts were less satisfying and the cake was $15! Overall enjoyable. Fantastic! Our party of four showed up to a packed house, on a whim, without a reservation. The staff went out of their way to accommodate us by actually moving very large plants and bringing in extra chairs in their outdoor seating area. All the while being friendly and enjoyable. We didn't order appetizers but I did sample Silvio's Old Fashion and it was really well made. A good combination of bourbon and sweet. Simple Italian bread and butter was offered. While it didn't have the wow factor of some designer breads, it was fresh and delicious, and that's all that matters. Real butter, that was room temperature and easy to spread was a nice touch. I ordered the baked ziti with Italian sausage. Our orders arrived quickly and did not disappoint. My friend, who also ordered a dish with sausage, and I commented that there must have been a sale on sausage because the serving was huge. My ziti was prepared to excellence. Absolutely delicious! All four of us were impressed and very pleased with our dishes. The staff was great! It was a packed house but we were well attended and never waited long for a request. The owner travels the restaurant and speaks with all his guests and we enjoyed the conversation, which was more than a quick, "Is everything OK?" Nothing even close to bad to say about this visit and we're sure to put Silvio's into our rotation. We'll just make sure to make a reservation next time! read more

If you haven't been yet, you absolutely need to go! We've heard so many great things about Silvio's and tried it tonight for the first time. Yes, the atmosphere was refined yet relaxing. The service was attentive and friendly. But the real story here was the food. My grilled pork chop with risotto and a vegetable medley was one of the best meals I've ever had anywhere. We were surprised we had not heard more about Silvio's. We happened to find the restaurant on a Friday night - and the place was packed! We found a seat at the bar and were greeted by Chef Bill. The entire experience was just wonderful! The friendly environment and lovely staff just added to the feeling of a wonderful Italian meal. We started with the mussels, in a buttery cream sauce, which were delicious! For salads we tried the beet salad and a caprese - both were good, but pretty much what you expect. For the main we shared the baked ziti - on the Chef's recommendation - and found it to be exactly as he described, delicious! The spicy sausage was just enough without overpowering and the sauce was not too sweet. We added a meatball - which also was perfectly spiced (and not at all meatloaf-like). They brought out the dessert tray and we could not resist the Italian Cream Cake (a family recipe). The cake was very good, but a little too sweet for me. We very much enjoyed our first dining experience at Silvio's and would recommend it for anyone looking for a solid traditional Italian meal. Why not 5 Stars??? Came here on a double date with my boyfriend and our friends while in Louisville during Christmas. I thought it was really good! I got the seafood pasta and it was delicious! My boyfriend and one of our friends got the baked ziti, and the other got the chicken alfredo. Everyone thought their food was good and the portions are huge! Our waitress was very nice and attentive. A man (who I'm assuming was either the owner or the manager) came over and asked us how everything was. He was very friendly and wanted to make sure that everything was just the way we wanted it to be. I avoid eating Italian out and about, especially the red sauce. But this place had such good yelp ratings I risked it and ordered the cheese lasagna. And let me tell you... I was extremely surprised. I can my own tomatoes, I make my own red sauce but it is not as good as their marinara. It has been years since I have had a great lasagna that the sauce wasn't laden with sugar. Should have written a review before now. Tonight was our 3rd time for us at Silvio's. We went on a whim a few months ago and found the BEST Italian restaurant in Louisville by a country mile. That night, my wife had fettuccini alfredo with shrimp and I had the veal parm with the diavolo sauce. My wife raved about the alfredo and I loved the spicy sauce on mine. Then 2 weeks ago, our anniversary, we decided that Silvio's was the perfect place to celebrate. This time she had the cheese lasagna with a meatball and I had the baked ziti with diavolo sauce (it is so good!). My wife will probably never order anything else because it was so good. The ziti was perfection on a plate. The spicy Italian sausage is to die for. Tonight my wife called me to let me know she had to work late. Since I had a good day playing poker at the casino, I offered to pick up carryout. She immediatly said she wanted more of the lasagna and I decided on spaghetti with a meatball (with of course the diavolo sauce). Again we were both happy campers! Don't forget to have a ceasar salad too as the dressing is so good. And no review would be complete without mentioning the friendly and attentive staff and the owner that makes his way to every table greeting you as if you're an old friend. I couldn't possibly imagine a better restaurant experience. We walked in and were greeted by the extremely welcoming hostess who made us feel like family!! She was so personable and we had a slight wait (10 mins on a Friday night) and she checked on us several times during our wait and brought drinks while we waited. Once seated, we immediately had bread & water brought to our table. Our waitress was also extremely personable and took our order promptly! Before our food came out, the owner came to speak to us and was just an awesome guy! Gave us cannoli's on the house for celebrating my birthday. We were over the moon with just the atmosphere and service alone when our food came out in less than 15 minutes. Between us, we had the Cesar salad, cheese ravioli with meatball, and fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp. Neither of us had ever had better of any of these dishes! The cannolis were delicious, as well. We were in town for a pre-convention meeting and found this place by accident, but I am so glad we did. Definitely a "local" vibe. The hostess made us feel like family. She sat us at a window seat. My friend ordered the grilled pork chop--it was fork-tender and easily the best I've ever tasted. I ordered the shrimp and polenta and it was equally as good. Wow! Silvio sure knows what he is doing! Perfect rice balls and bread to start, the best chicken parmigiana I've ever had the pleasure of eating, a lovely house wine and obviously homemade marinara. The owner came out and chatted, sent us cannoli when he found out it was my son's birthday (which, by the way were also delicious and not too sweet as so many are) and the portions were enough to take home for another dinner. Hubby and I went here for dinner last night. We are visiting for the Urban Bourbon Half Marathon. We had reservations, though we had to push them back a couple of times, and they were very accommodating! When we arrived, it was just a few minutes for them to clear a table and seat us. Our server was very nice and efficient. My water was always filled, and since entrees are made to order, she was able to remove the cream from my linguine with white clam sauce. It was a bit dry, thus the one less star, BUT the owner was circulating and inquired about our dinner. Since I said, "Good," he wanted to know why it wasn't great! I explained and he offered to comp the entree or send over cannoli. He also is thinking about how to make it better when this is requested! Bill, the owner, is a long time family friend and the ambiance and environment is always warm and welcoming to all. I recommend the rice balls for starters, the grilled salad is spectacular, and the veal is out of the world...even from someone who isn't a veal fan, Bill is making me a believer! Overall, my first and only experience at Silvio's was pleasant. I have a couple of minor mishaps that kept me from giving this business 5 stars, although I believe the food was 5 star material. First, we had a reservation and still had to wait 10 -15 mins to be seated. Secondly, the chef came by and introduced himself (which was very nice) but he promised to send out cannoli's for us celebrating two birthdays that night and never did send out the dessert. We waited for about 30 mins after finishing our entree's, thinking maybe he was just super busy but they never came so we left and got dessert elsewhere. Now onto the good...the enjoyed a wonderful bottle of wine with our meals. The caesar salad was one of the best I've ever tasted. My bolognese was fabulous and the others in my party really enjoyed their meals as well. The restaurant itself was very quaint and cute and the staff was friendly so I do plan to return. read more

I was so looking forward to dining at Silvio's, my first time there. I looked at the reviews and was very confident that we would have a great meal. I was sadly disappointed. I selected the Chicken Parmesan with ziti pasta. The Chicken Parmesan was very good, nice and hot, the ziti however was hard and cold. the ziti must have been cooked early in the day, the ziti noodles were stuck together indicating to me that the ziti was old. My boyfriend selected the Chicken Silvio, again the chicken and broccoli was nice and hot, however the risotto was cold, which again ruined the meal. We told both the waitress and told Silvio as well. The resolution was as bad as the pasta, we were given $5.00 of the entire cost of both meals. It was my plan to order the Italian Cream cake for dessert, my favorite! So looking forward to it, the waitress gave us our bill and did not even ask us if we wanted dessert. My wife had the cheese lasagna and loved it. She's a picky eater, so this says a lot. Of course, I had to try a bite. Delicious! I had the Chicken Silvio and it too was scrumptious. The fried broccoli was, hands down, the best cooked broccoli I've ever eaten. The risotto was very good as well. Dessert consisted of Italian cream cake (her) and cannolis (me). Both were heavenly. Dessert was probably the hardest decision of the evening. Dinner was topped off with a 15 year Balvenie. This was a little pricey, but it was an anniversary dinner so.... Absolutely fantastic food and service. We will be back for sure. Everything was fresh and tasty. We started with the bruschetta that was topped with an amazing tomato mix. The owner came by to check on us and told us how he prepares a few dishes and offered a lovely insight to the menu. Both the spaghetti and meatballs and the chicken parmigiana with angel hair were crazy good. Both the chicken and meatball were very flavorful and cooked perfectly. This was my first visit and I truly wanted to love this restaurant because the owners are long time Louisville Italians. Unfortunately, the dishes included too much butter for me and my guests. Arancini (rice ball) was too large for my tastes and the filling lacked a the deep rich flavor of arancini that I like. Linguini with clam sauce was in a cream sauce which is non-traditional for me. Too much butter was added and I couldn't even eat the dish. The owner offered to replace it and suggested that the next time I ask for it to be made traditionally with clam stock and wine which was nice. Others at my table had salmon with butter on top of it and chicken parm which was tasty. Sides of broccoli also had too much butter on it. Overall, a disappointment but the restaurant gets 5 stars for ambiance and the owners willingness to make things right. I recommend giving Silvio's a try. read more

I was so happy to stumble upon Silvio's on a Saturday night. Italian food is one of my favorite cuisines so I was thrilled when I read the owners were bringing authentic American Italian to Louisville. When we walked in the establishment it was around 8pm. We were told there was going to be a 40 minute wait but could hangout at the bar until our table was ready. Perfect! We were greeted fairly fast and put in an order for two Bombay Sapphire martinis straight up w/ two olives. Perfect! You know a martini is made correctly when it doesn't taste like booze. Lol! We also went ahead and ordered an appetizer because we were so hungry. Our decision landed with the Antipasto starter. Not a minute later the hostess came to us notifying our table was ready. After everything I think we only waited for 20 minutes. Awesome! We paid up with the bartender and carried our drinks and appetizer to the table. The Antipasto plate. Oh my!! It was unbelievably good. My favorite part of the meal. Included in the selection was salami, mortadella, ham, little pepperonis, kalamata and green olives, roasted red peppers, some kind of creamy cheese that possibly was provolone (it had an oniony garlic flavor and was delicious), a pickled pepper stuffed with cheese and ham, and three pieces of toasted Italian bread. The entire plate was drizzled with this super flavorful blend they call Nana's dressing. It was a lot like a balsamic vinaigrette. My only complaint would be there needed to be a few more pieces of the bread. Other than that teeny tiny thing I can't quit raving about this dish. I loved it! We ordered dinner and then each entrée came with a salad and choice of pasta. I chose the Chicken Parm with spaghetti noodles as well as a Caesar salad. My dinner date ordered the Aglio Olio with angel hair pasta adding shrimp, and the Melillo salad (Melillo being the name of the owners). I ate my Caesar so fast I forgot to take a picture. Haha! It was one of the best Caesar salads I've ever had. My guest said her Melillo salad (also known as the house salad) was super delicious. When our meals came I was surprised that I was given two chicken breasts. My meal was huge! The marinara sauce was killer. The perfect amount of chunky tomatoes and acidity. I loved my meal so much I didn't want to quit eating, but finally had to throw in the towel half way through. My friend's dish was light yet tasty. It had a zip of spice from the red pepper flakes that I didn't love, but it wasn't so strong she couldn't eat her meal. Her only real complaint would be the shrimp. They were basically boiled and then plopped on the pasta. She would have preferred if the shrimp were cooked in the olive oil and garlic sauce to give them some more flavor. Other than that she really enjoyed her dish. I ordered a other martini with dinner and she ordered a glass of medium red wine. The service was good and the staff was friendly. We met both the owners (one was the chef - the husband, and one was the front of the house manager - the wife). I enjoyed talking to both of them and I thought it was great taste and excellent customer service to take the time to talk to all the tables. They wanted real opinions and feedback for improvement. Considering they have only been open for four weeks I think they are doing a terrific job. With a few more tweaks I would up my rating to a five star. During this particular visit I would have given a 4 1/2. I liked the interior decor as well as the cute white lights strung outside on the exterior. It draws the attention of those passing by. Nope. Giving it two stars feels a bit generous. Pros: Interior was nice. Wait staff was active and attentive. Bread was edible. Cons: Salad was not fresh and entree was almost inedible. Was really hoping to like this place as it is down the street from my house, but nope. Wants to make you feel like you are in a high class restaurant, but the food quality lets you know you are overpaying for a $15 entree. Really, really disappointing is all I have to say. Great place for an anniversary dinner during Covid. Atmosphere felt lively, warm and wonderful. Many of the tables are in nice little cozy nook areas. Calamari app was perfecto. Cocktails were professional with nice twists like a Manhattan laced with Amaretto. Veal parm was a highly seasoned, less traditional flavored recipe with darker crust. Pasta Bolognese sauce was very, very meaty- less (obvious) veggies than expected. Service was professionally brisk and friendly. Will gladly return again to sample more of the menu.
