Especially on a warm summer day and more so when I'm not driving. So if I can't get a 22 oz'er, I'm a little disgruntled. Who cares if I'll be pissing every 2 blocks. Hell, there's a Starbucks on almost every corner down there anyway... That's really my only negative. Well, that and the flight selection was "less than appealing" to me and as mentioned prior, beer sizes... I like this gastropub! It's modern and casual, with friendly service. My friend took me here a while back for a low-key dinner, and we shared a bacon and date mascarpone pizza with a blue cheese haystack (shoestring fries with blue cheese and garlic). The fries were really good, and the portion was slightly ridiculous (in a good way, or bad way if you're watching your waistline). The pizza was pretty good too. I liked that the bacon was thick-sliced, although I were there were a bit more with a less subtle date flavor. I came here on a Friday for lunch and I was very impressed with the decor, food, and service. The atmosphere has that contemporary pub feel. You can sit at the bar, the communal table, or one of the 2 person tables by the windows. Our waitress was friendly and attentive from beginning to end. She continually checked up on us, offered suggestions, and refilled our drinks. 5/5 for the service! I felt that the best deal on the menu was the Weekday Lunch Special for $9.75. You are able to choose a half of any sandwich or one fish taco, plus a salad and cup of soup. I went with the Chicken Bacon Avocado Hoagie, Caesar Salad and Chicken Tortilla Soup. My friend ordered the Grilled Fish Tacos and was very happy with his meal. I thought that the amount of food I received was a good value for the price and all of the flavors were simple but tasty. Every night from 4pm - closing the restaurant has a different special. Saturday and Sunday until 2:30pm they offer brunch. Friday - Sunday they offer sangria. We ordered a white sangria finished with Prosecco. The flavors were great, the fruit was crisp, and it even gave me a buzz after only drinking one. I've been dining here mainly for lunch. I usually get their lunch specials that come with soup and salad. A great deal for the price. Can't really go wrong with any of the other items on their menu. I've had co-workers and friends enjoy the salads, pizzas and burgers. There are also nightly specials and weekend specials. My current favorites: Blue Cheese Haystack fries starter. Ughh....I just don't get the popularity of this place. We decided to give Simmzy's a second chance after being completely ignored by the staff on our last visit. It was Friday evening and we got sat relatively quickly. We started off with beer tasters at $12 a piece. We then ordered a Simmzy's Burger and the Tuna Sandwich. I have to say that there was nothing special about these plates. The burger tasted like a regular burger with a slight taste of garlic aioli that they use as a spread. I could whip up something at home that would taste much better than this. As for the tuna, it was a tuna steak chopped up and put on bread. Again, nothing to it and not worth the price that was paid. To top it off, the ends of the bread were completely burnt and not edible. We also ordered the Shoestring Fries at $3.50. And you know what, they were shoestring fries with a small side of ketchup and garlic aioli sauce. There was no garlic, salt, pepper, oil or anything added to the fries. Again, I could do the same at home with Ore Ida and it would taste much better. What a rip off. Although service was better this time around, our server totally forgot our second drink order and came back about 10 minutes after the fact because she forgot what beer I ordered. So seriously, $60+ for two beer tasters, a regular beer, a burger and sandwich with one order of fries is not worth it here. Tavern on 2 or the Congregation are much better alternatives. read more

I thought I was going to miss the Shore House at this location but this place isn't bad. It's another spot on 2nd Street to get your drink on but with good food. With the many choices of brew, I did notice a number next to some of them. I think those ones were the top picks. I came in immediately after the Belmont Shore Parade so I was prepared for a crowd. Being only me and the kid, we didn't have to wait for a table. Our server was awesome; she didn't miss a beat. She was attentive and kept our waters filled. We had the caramelized brussels sprouts made with butter, garlic, lemon, anchovies, capers, and bruschetta. They were tangy but I liked it. We also had their Saturday night feature, short rib and chocolate porter chili which comes with a bag of Fritos. Crush them up in the bag and add that to your chili and it provides a nice crunch. We went to Simmzy's on a Saturday around 1:00pm. Crowded, but we got a table right away. Nice vibe going on: open patio let in sunlight and a nice breeze; crowd was lively, but you could carry on a conversation w/out having to yell; seating was comfortable. Service was excellent. Our server, Mackenzie, was energetic, friendly, and attentive from beginning to end. Excellent selection of beers on tap, and the wine list included one of our Central Coast favorites, Melville. I went with a basic cheeseburger: homemade bun was tasty, the beef had really good flavor, and the shoestring fries came in their own wrapper, fresh out of the fryer. So this place is great, went there with some buddy's for lunch and It was a good choice, parking was a bit of a pain though. We all thought it was a cool place with a great vibe right off the bat. They weren't super busy, but it was a weekday. Idk if it's the fact we were just really hungry but everything on the menu sounded amazing. One of my friends had the hardest time trying to even choose what he wanted. He asked the waitress what she recommended and she gave him a bunch of good info. But that ended up making it even harder for him to make a decision because he didn't want to choose just one or even two things. Unfortunately I couldn't tell you what he ended up getting, but I ended up splitting a pizza and the fries. Our food came out really quick, and it was all still really hot so we knew it was fresh out of the oven. The fries were great, the right level of crispy and good flavor. We were a little disappointed about the pizza because they didn't do a very good job cutting it, we had to ask for a knife so we could cut it ourselves. And the all toppings would just slide off your slice in the first bite. But as far as how it tasted it was amazing, so they made up for it in flavor. It was a beautiful day today so why not dine Al Fresco, right? We decided to go out of our immediate area and trek over to Long Beach. We arrived around 12:15ish and Simmzy's was pretty busy, but we were able to get seated right away. I liked the openness of the restaurant. There was a nice breeze blowing through the place which added to the atmosphere. For my beer choice, I had the Simmzy's IPA. The one the beer menu said was their very first one. It was nice and hoppy, but not overly fruit forward like other IPAs. For our starter, we ordered the Tin Roof Brussels sprouts. They were roasted perfectly. The only thing I didn't like was the fact that the Capers really brought out the flavor of the Anchovies. I'm not a big fan of Anchovies, but they didn't take away from the flavor in the dish. My wife ordered the Shrimp Po'Boy and my daughter ordered the kids pepperoni pizza. I ordered the Thai Turkey Burger. I guess I was trying to eat healthy, but I was more intrigued by the red curry mayo. Which, I have to admit, had a little kick to it. In some instances, it cleared my sinuses. Overall, a good experience. Luis was our server and took good care of us and didn't rush us. I will definitely be going back to Simmzy's, not to mention, exploring the rest of 2nd street. We were lucky enough to find parking at one of the meters right in front of Simmzy's, but I'm pretty sure it isn't always that easy. read more

3.5-4 Popped in for a quick brunch with my sisters & nephew. We were seated immediately in a spot near the sun so it was warm and really bright (a good thing). The water and orange juice was brought out immediately. My nephew received some wax strings that you can stick and build and mold. Super entertaining and way better than the standard crayon. We ordered the eggs Benedict pizza and the veggie scramble no cheese. Also ordered my nephew a cheese pizza and shoe string fries. The food came out quickly. The first couple bites of the egg Benedict pizza were good. The crust was nice and chewy and thin. But ten minutes later the whole pizza was kind of a soggy mess :( The veggie scramble wasn't as good as the pizza. The dried tomatoes were extremely sweet (like raisins) and provided a strange and kind of unpleasant pairing with the salty potatoes and mushrooms. We picked at it and avoided all the tomatoes. The best part was my nephews cheese pizza. It was huge for a kids size and it was only 5 bucks. What a deal! Too bad it's kids only :( the pizza was delicious too. Chewy and crispy and meltingly hot. Overall the service was great and the food was nice. We'll be back to try other things and maybe raise this review to a 4/5. read more

This part of Long Beach is awesome. I had the simmzy burger and thought it was great. Why great? Medium rare, I added bacon, and I ate it whole heartedly without any sauces involved. The meat juice coming from the patty alone made this burger desirable. That's why I say it is a great burger -- because it let the product speak for itself without any additional teasers. Other side notes -- tons of beer selections, mimosa's, and sangria. YES -- sangria!!!! Woohoo! I got their Bacon Blue Deluxe - medium rare with sweet potato fries on the side. So I expected strong flavors from the blue cheese but I actually didn't taste that much of it. Also, the buns weren't that great either - I guess I prefer softer bread? My favorite part of my meal was actually the fries and the good selection of beer. There are meter parkings but I suggest finding free street parking in nearby neighborhood, especially if you're going to barhop after (and why wouldn't you want to?).
