Hi, I rarely give a review , but this time I have to do it. Our 4.5 years old LG refrigerator stopped cooling . On LG site we found Simon as a recommended LG technician. Simon came and checked our refrigerator. He told us that the compressor is broken and needs to be replaced and that this is a common problem with LG, even there is a class action suit against LG. He sounded very convincing. My wife paid him in advance $700 to get the compressor that was still under LG warranty. Simon came back to replace the part in 4 days. He checked the fridge for leakage, cleaned it, I believe with nitrogen, replaced the compressor and solder the connecting pipes for Freon. The next day we found that the refrigerator still was not cooling. We called Simon, he came and found that Freon was gone. With the soap foam (he showed me) he found that his soldering was bad and there was leakage. He soldered all the connections again and charged Freon. A little more than a week later we found that the refrigerator is slowly warming again. Simon visited us the third time found again that Freon is gone and told us that he does not see a leakage, asked me to show him where the leakage is and then he can fix it. And if I cannot show him the leak, he suggested to buy a new refrigerator. He refused even to discuss any refund, arguing that his job was done by claiming that refrigerator was able to cool 10 days ago and the leakage happened after he fixed it. We wasted time, food, money and after Simon's third visit have to buy a new fridge. So, we would not recommend his services to anyone at all. read more

Hubby out of town and I have two little people who make a lot of laundry. Dryer won't heat up. I work full time and laundry is piling up. I found my Simon Appliance magnet on my dryer and called them. I left a message and within 15 minutes they had called me back and heard the pain in my voice and told me he could come over tonight. Rude, unprofessional and racist. I had set up an appointment for them to come repair my Viking stove. Discovered that they were not a licensed Viking repair shop. Called to cancel the appointment scheduled for the next day. The person who picked up the phone said "I did not make the appointment. When I knew you were Indian, I decided not to", and hung up. Simon appliance was sent out by my Home Warranty Company. Wilson was my repair person. It was right before Thanksgiving and I was in a panic because we were having a house full of people coming. They had a hard time getting the part and the day before Thanksgiving it finally came in. I got a call saying they would try to make it out to fix it but then they called to say they couldn't make it but would it be OK to come out early Thanksgiving morning to replace the part. Wilson showed up at 8:15 AM and replaced the part and I had my oven for Thanksgiving. Thank you Wilson and Simon Appliance for giving the best customer service ever! I found Simon Appliance through Yelp and since it was already 5pm most other places I had tried calling were already closed for the day. I needed the door lid trigger mechanism on my washing machine repaired. Simon picked up, told me he could come by whenever it was convenient for me. Turns out he was even able to come over in 20 minutes. So I rush home from work and sure enough at 5:35 he was there. He had the parts in hand so he was done with the washing machine in like 20 mins. He also gave me some tips on how to clean my air filter and he also turned on the automatic ice maker in my fridge for me (no charge). Total cost to repair the washing machine was reasonable ($82 for parts $72 for labor). Simon and his son were so friendly, knowledgeable, and best of all quick! Simon came out the same day I called for service regarding our sub-zero fridge. It was making a horrible racket, and we'd had it serviced just a year ago. Simon showed us what was wrong, and some areas that needed some cleaning, which the other guy should have taken care of. It took him 5 minutes to diagnose the problem and another 10 minutes to fix it. we had an issue with our side-by-side fridge. it is working just fine now. I highly recommend Simon. Simon was assigned by the home warranty company to find out what was the issue with our refrigerator. Initially I was satisfied with the services he provided as he came in a timely manner and replaced the compressor and I thought the issue was solved. But a few weeks later the refrigerator wasn't cooling properly again, so I had to call the home warranty company and they sent Simon for the follow up service call as the initial work order was still within 90 days which falls under warranty. After he checked the refrigerator he told me that the Freon level was low and he refilled it. He mentioned that after he replaces a refrigerator compressor, he usually goes back in a couple of weeks to check the Freon level as sometimes it gets low, he admitted he didn't do this in our case, but since he assured me he refilled the Freon on the 2nd service call, and my tenant witnessed Simon doing this, I didn't mind too much, I was glad that the refrigerator was finally working properly. But Simon submitted a fake report to the home warranty stating that he didn't find anything wrong with the refrigerator on his 2nd visit. I assume that if he would have submitted the truthful report admitting he made a mistake/omission on the first visit/work order and that the 2nd service call was directly related to the initial work order and that he had to correct it by refilling the Freon, the home warranty wouldn't have paid him the service fee for the 2nd visit as it would have been falling under the 90 days warranty. So the home warranty sent me the invoice for a service call stating that I was responsible for it since the report Simon submitted stated that he didn't find anything wrong with the refrigerator on his 2nd service visit. I initially gave Simon a 5 stars review for solving the issue in a timely manner, I didn't even updated the review to decrease the stars on my initial review after the 2nd service call when he refilled the Freon, as I understand mistakes/omissions happen, so as long as the refrigerator worked properly after the 2nd visit I still wanted Simon to have the 5 star review. But since after the 2nd visit he sent a fake report to the home warranty, I unfortunately have to update now my initial review to warn people that Simon doesn't take responsibility for his mistakes/omissions and it may cost you more money to fix again something that he worked on in the first place. read more

I'm writing this for my mother who does not have a yelp account, I have not used Simon but if I have any appliance problems I'll definitely call him. Simon is always on time, very professional, clear on what needs to be done and seems to be able to fix anything. He orders the parts, gives you the exact time he'll be back to fix it and the price is right. He'll assess the situation, give you a price, order the parts, put the broken appliance back so it is usable when he has to order parts. He is very neat, and careful when he is working. My gas oven went out. PG&E came out and looked at it. The PG&E person said it was the ignitor but I had to call a repair company to fix it. I called Simon Appliance. They were GREAT!!! I called Simon just before noon on Tuesday and they said they could come out that afternoon. I told them I didn't get home until 6:00 p.m. and they said they would be there at 6:00. Very accommodating!!! Two of them came out and looked at my oven and said just what PG&E said -- it was indeed the ignitor. They fixed it. They were very fast, efficient and knowledgable. So disappointed. I called Simon Appliance because our dryer wasn't pumping out heat. He rang me back and was here in 90 min. I was so happy because not having a dryer has been a nightmare. He shows up, takes a look at the dryer and says it will be $80 for the part and $150 for the labor. Not knowing better, I say ok..but call my husband because it occurs to me that we could get a NEW dryer for that cost. Hubby say NO WAY, I tell the tech and he in a kind of hostile tone tells me it will be $50 for the visit. OK fine. Looked up the part and its $15-30 and is a breeze to install. I'm not sure if he quoted me that because we live in the mountains and traffic was a nightmare to get here or what. Used these guess thru a warranty service for the refrigerator and they were prompt & provided good service. Now we had a sudden AC failure on one of the hotter days this year. On a Sunday they showed pretty punctual and within 2 hours of the call. Very friendly service and the AC is working. Great work guys. Will certainly use them for any upcoming needs. Simon fixed my sub-zero built-in refrigerator recently. His service is very good and the charges are reasonable. I found Simon Appliance on Yelp and called him on Monday because my refrigerator suddenly stopped working. Simon came on the same day to do the free estimate. He found that the compressor for the freezer has died. This is an older fridge so Simon gave us an estimate of the repair cost, and allowed us to decide whether to repair it. He recommended going ahead with the repair as a new built-in refrigerator is very expensive. Once we agreed to do the repair, he ordered a new compressor and told us that he would come back when the part arrives. On Wednesday the new compressor arrived and Simon came with his son Joseph to install it. It took two of them two hours to get the new compressor installed. Unfortunately he found that the fridge was previously repaired with after-market parts and the thermostat did not work with the new OEM Sub-zero compressor. He ordered a new Sub-zero thermostat but we had to wait for the part. We also found that the refrigerator was not cooling. Simon purged and recharged the refrigerant and it was fixed. On Thursday Simon came back with the new thermostat. He spent another hour to get the thermostat installed. Both the freezer and refrigerator are now working. On Friday Simon called to follow-up and check if everything is working OK. Overall the experience with Simon Appliance is very positive. Although this is an expensive repair, I am sure it would be more expensive had I used a national service company that charges by hourly rate. I like that Simon is very responsive, and knows his trade well. He uses genuine service parts and the price is reasonable. His labor charges are reasonable too. I also like the fact that Simon Appliance is a family business, and the owner takes pride in his work. read more

When it comes to home repair, I automatically assume that being young and female, I'm going to get ripped off. Thanks to yelp, I have more confidence going into the process of searching for a repairman - and I'm grateful to have found Simon on here. About 5-6 months ago, our Sub Zero refrigerator stopped properly cooling. The fridge and freezer were still cold, but items in the freezer weren't actually frozen. We found a guy somehow (his name escapes me and i WISH it didn't!) who repaired the problem at a decent cost...only to have it do the exact same thing a few months later. This time, I consulted with Yelp, and found Simon Appliance. I called him and he came the next day for a consultation. He seemed honest and gave what he said was a really good quote because of sympathy to our situation, but I was hesitant to go with the first person I spoke to after our last experience. He could sense my distrust and even put the parts dealer on speakerphone so we could see what the part cost was and what his labor charges were. After calling around, I was convinced - other repair shops were asking up to DOUBLE what he was! We ended up going with Simon, and I'm so glad I did - his work was timely, he was honest and very cost-effective. I'm so glad there are still good guys out there that don't take advantage of someone not knowing the true costs of repairs! My only suggestions for improvement - I would have liked to have known ahead of time to clear out the refrigerator. Maybe that's common sense but I've never had to deal with a broken fridge so had no idea. Minus a star for that - but plus double stars for being affordable and dependable. Awesome work!!!! Fridge was making a funny sound, he came in said compresser was dying and eventually it will break. Gave us a great price on a similar fridge, he came back with the fridge, and his son to help. They helped me take everything out of the fridge and freezer, removed the old fridge and brought in the new fridge. They were polite, and quick and on time! Our freezer took a dive over the weekend and we called Simon first thing Monday morning. He came out within an hour, found the problem, had the part at the office so he needed to go pick it up and handle two other calls. He came back before the scheduled time (which was great and fixed the issue - letting us know it could be a bigger problem.....but we'd have to wait for 30+ days to see. He said he would honor the price he gave, backing out the money we already paid if we needed a new compressor. He also swapped out a filter for an ice machine that we had struggled with for months and didn't charge us. Finding Simon via yelp. I called 7:00 am and he was there in 9:00am for me on the same day! That was really great. I had a LG dryer that is kind of working but making loud noise. It took Simon huge effort to open it up as one of the front panel screw got stuck and wouldn't come out. It took him quite a while to get that resolved. Then he was able to find out the problem was a piece of cloth stuck and caused the problem I was facing. He saved me big money being able to get problem resolved just like that. Scam Alert ! Found these guys in the yellow pages. The service call was supposed to be $ 80 plus parts to fix a refrigerator. He came out and wanted to charge $ 250 for seven ounces of refrigerant (costs $ 40 retail) Watch out... this guy is a scam artist! or better yet call someone else. read more

These guys are awesome! We moved from an apartment to a place near by but in all hurry needed a refrigerator, all the usual stores give you the 3 day delivery story with no possibility to get one directly from the store (unless you want to drive up to Tracy). We couldn't wait that long, as it was saturday, meaning earliest day would be wednesday if we chose to get it delivered. Luckily we found Simon! Even though it was after six they waited for us. Simon had a couple of used refrigerators and we chose one that would fit our new place. Sure it has a dent or two, but for these prices that does not matter. We'll just put a magnet or a picture over it and nobody would notice anymore. They we even so nice to lend us their dolly so we could easily put it in our truck and move it in place at our home. The refrigerator works beautifully and if there is any issue they got you covered. Simon came the other day to inspect it and pick up the dolly. We where saved by those guys that night, they where super friendly and trustworthy. If your looking for reasonable prices used appliances, be sure to check them out! read more

Simon is awesome. Fast, prompt service -- even on Sundays! This is the 3rd time Simon has helped me out, quickly and without hassle. 2 years ago my fridge was dying. It was cool, but not cold enough. I called Simon and he came out that same day and inspected it. He replaced a computer board inside the fridge and everything has been great since. A year a go my Kenmore washer died and would not spin. I called Simon and he came out and inspected it the same day. He took it apart, installed a new clutch and everything has been fine since. Today I had what I thought was a blown fuse in my garage. The garage fridge was off and the garage door opener would not work. I checked the fuse box and everything looked fine. After having no luck toggling breakers and plugging/unplugging things I called an electrician I found on yelp. Well I did not reach a real person, but an answering machine (today is Sunday). So I left a message to make an appointment. I though that was kind of bunk, so I thought I would give Simon a call. I figured he's fixed my fridge and washer before, so maybe he can figure out this electrical problem. He answered the phone and came over to work on the problem this afternoon. Fast! The wiring in my garage is a bit of an ad hoc mess, but Simon was able to figure it out. In the end it was not a circuit breaker problem, but a broken wire inside a wiring junction box. My Samsung refrigerator broken down on Monday. I called Samsung Tuesday & Wednesday a few times, they finally gave me schedule of sending someone to look it next Tuesday. 1 week NO Refrigerator! Thursday I went on Yelp and called the few names on the top list. One of them referred Simon Appliance. Simon came at 1pm the same day. Found out one of the parts need to be replaced. He said he has to order the part. He will call me as soon as he gets the part. It maybe next week. He called me on Sunday that he got the part in Redwood City. He came in at 2pm. 10 minutes. Done! I was suprised that he works on Sunday. He said he normally doesn't work on Sundays. But he knew I need the refrigerator. After that, he has to go help his wife with her salon in Los Gatos.
