I called this company to repair my Whirpool washing machine. The workers, Simon and the others are very personable and professional. I had to wait almost a week for parts. I was impressed that the workers did a great job keeping in contact with me about the progress with the parts, as well as the next home visit. They initiate and return calls in a timely manner, and when promised. Ultimately' they were unqable to repair my washing machine. Simon and the other worker seemed genuinely remorseful when they were unable to repair the washer. It was not their fault, it just couldn't be repaired. They did not charge me the $160 for the parts they couldn't install, they also waived the service call fee. I felt that showed a lot of integrity, and I would use this company again in the future. read more

My fridge (3 year old GE Profile) suddenly bit the dust on Friday night. I found Simon after poking around yelp and other sites, and called him up. He came by that evening, very quickly diagnosed the problem, and knew what part(s) we needed. Being a Friday night before the 4th of July holiday, we knew the parts wouldn't be in right away. When the parts came in, he came by that day and installed a new converter. The second part, it turns out, didn't need replacement. This shows me that Simon is not only good, but also honest. Excellent service and prices! Had a problem with my Maytag Neptune washer. They responded same day with an initial call, got the parts next day, and repaired it on the 3rd day - due to my schedule, not theirs! They would have been back the second day, but I couldn't be there then. They only charged me once for labor - the initial service call and the repair labor were all included in the same charge! Don't use this service!! He charged me an outrageous amount to fix my refrigerator, it worked for three weeks and went out again. I called him back because my service was still under his warranty, but when he came out he told me it was a different problem and wanted to charger over $200 more! He came out the same day I called, free estimate, quick efficient service. Showed me parts that had died, and the fee was reasonable. Every other company I called charges for the initial estimate. Within 2 days after the repair the refrigerator went down again, back on the phone to Simon, he answered after 2 rings and was at my door in 2 hours!!! Who does that?? Everything is in order again!!. I had a very bad experience with Simon Appliance. Simon does not honor the warranty in his work. The problem in my refrigerator was not fixed and it was within the 90 days warranty period and he refuses to come by to fix the problem. On the plus side, my call was answered by a real person, rather than a machine. Even better, the real person had the authority to schedule appointments and answer questions. The service tech arrived within the agreed window of time. No work was done, as it turned out, and no charge was levied. On the minus side, the tech arrived without a dolly, which I had expressly requested in my initial contact. The tech said he could take all the food out of the refrigerator and move it by leaning it over, and strongly asserted he could not be held responsible for damages. This was not an option I wanted to accept, when the proper dolly would have been more fast and efficient, and not expose my refrigerator to being tipped sideways nor my food to be left out at room temperature. Therefore the refrigerator could not be repaired because it could not be moved. The tech insisted that "no one has one of those" (appliance dollies), and that it would be a two-man job. I've had repairs done in the past by companies which had a forklift-style dolly on their van, and managed the repair with one tech. I was left with the impression of a sincere person who is confident and possibly competent but not as experienced and well-equipped as he says he is. Bottom line, I'll call a different company next time. read more

Simon came out with Fidelity National Home Warranty to look at our refrigerator that wouldn't cool below ~55 degrees, after 6 attempts at fixing it and Simon telling us he couldn't fix it and couldn't get the right part and that he'd tell the warranty company that...BUT, he didn't (or the warranty company told him to do some shady trick), he came out and removed a some sort of flap between the freezer and refrigerator--now the refrigerator FREEZES the bottom half of everything in the refrigerator--so I can't use either of my crisper drawers or it freezes the veggies--we are exhausted by the whole process... Maybe these guys are ok on their own, but in combination with Fidelity National Home Warranty, --RUN AWAY. read more

He fixed our dishwasher which had an electrical issue. In addition, he noticed another issue that was bothering me for over a year! Simon is awesome! He came the same day when I couldn't find anyone to look at my freezer. It was all iced up and leaking water. He took one look and said it was only because my door isn't closing properly due to the ice buildup at the back. I was so happy to hear it isn't anything serious that would be costly. Simon told me to only defrost everything and helped me raised the front of the fridge so that the door can close properly on its own. I really appreciate his honesty and knowledge. Simon saved us!! After another electrical company came out first and ignored the yellow fan light on our Sub Zero refrigerator, which then died, he came out same day and correctly diagnosed the circuit board demise, probably done by the first electrical company turning it on and off repeatedly quickly. the first company wouldn't even come out again until after the weekend, and our food was rapidly dying, but Simon has extra parts and was able to get the circuit board in two days; this was amazing as the Sub Zero parts company in Hayward was back ordered until August 15. Fridge was leaking water. Called Simon appliance. They came out that day, gave me an estimate, and said they'd order parts. Charged me $65 for the estimate, which they said they would credit toward the repair cost. It has been three months since they first came out. They never ordered the parts, and they never come back to fix the fridge. I have a thread 30 messages long about how they're going to 'call me tomorrow'. Completely unreliable and unhelpful. My new LG refrigerator's freezer door would not slide open. LG set up a service call with a technician from Simon appliances for 10/25/2019. The gentleman who came out could not open the freezer door. He attempted to break the freezer door by yanking on and using a screwdriver. He was still unable to open the door. He told me that the freezer rails were defective and he didn't know how they were going to fix. He stated that LG may have to replace. As of Monday morning I had not heard anything back. I called LG and they had not received a report. I received a call back from LG hours latter stating that Simon appliances told them that I broke my own door, they will not cover and Simon appliances wants a service fee. If any of that were true the technician needed to say so at the time, not that it was a manufacturing defect and should never have attempted to break the door. Now I have to have another technician come out for the manufacturing defect and hope they do not try and charge me for any damage Simon appliance succeeded in making when attempting to break the door. No technician would be much more helpful than the destructive unethical technicians at Simon Appliances. read more

My sub-zero refrigerator stopped making cold air over the weekend. Called them through warranty service Sunday morning and they came in the afternoon and fixed the issue. Very prompt. Milks and eggs are saved :-) I also used them to repair the motor unit for my Thermador range hood. Two other companies came and decided it was too difficult to repair the unit since the motor is on the roof, and Simon Appliance was called in as the 3rd company to evaluate the situation, they took the challenge by climbing to the roof, taking down the heavy unit and finally rebuilding a new one for me. read more

I called Simon after my refrigerator stopped cooling. I was not hoping for same day appointment, but he said he will try to stop by. And luckily he showed up half hour later to figure out what broke. It was the compressor. So, he promised to return back next morning at 8 with a new one. And at 8, there he was. I have used other repairmen too, but he works faster than others and knows his stuff. He got us up and running in 1 and 1/2 hours. Price was very reasonable. I did shop around before asking him to replace the compressor and his was the lowest quote. read more

After reading the Yelp reviews I called Simon to look at our Samsung fridge. Simon was very accommodating and came to our home in the late afternoon. He gets one star for that. As you can tell from the rating above, that's where it ends. We had a loud noise coming from the fan in the fridge section. Simon came out and took apart the fridge, tried to take off the back panel, only to realize that he couldn't and replaced the fan in the freezer section (approx. $200 charge). After his visit, our fridge froze up. It didn't get cold and we had a fridge full of spoiled food. I called him back again and he said that we needed a new controller board. According to him, this is a problem with Samsung. Fine, it's going to cost me another $300 to replace the controller board. I make the appointment. When Simon arrives, he opens up the back of the fridge, realizes that he doesn't have the right part (I'm standing right there so I can see the confusion), gets on the phone and talks to someone in a language that I do not understand. Eventually, he packs up his tools and tells me to turn off the fridge for 8 hours which should fix the problem and leaves my home. At this point I call Sears. The Sears repairman comes out to my home the next day and realizes that the inside of my fridge is completely frozen. The repairman promptly opens up the back panel of my fridge, orders the correct part, and helps me defrost it. Two days later, I had a working fridge again. I called Simon the next day to see if there was something that could be done about the original $200 charge to replace the fan in the freezer (which obviously didn't need replacing). He IMMEDIATELY got defensive and yelled that we needed a new freezer fan so that's what he did. I was not asking for all of my money back. I was just hoping that we could work out some agreement given that his initial prognosis and repairs were incorrect. Bottom line is that if you have a Samsung appliance, DO NOT call Simon. He claims to know Samsungs but obviously does not. I cannot comment on his knowledge of other brands or appliances. read more

Started out great - ended up poorly. Would give them zero stars if possible. They came out immediately to help repair our starter light for our Viking stovetop. Told me that the repair would require them to order a part and said the part was available and should be sent to them within a week and they would then call to set up the appointment. They happily took my $400.00 as payment for the parts. Called back TWO weeks later and was told in a very annoyed voice that they told me that they would call me when the part would come in and that it come in on Thursday. Two weeks go by. No call. Called again today. Was told first that they had called but we had tenants who would not return their call. I said that we lived in the house and had received no call. Was then told that there was a long weekend (bullsh*t) and that the part would definitely come in on Thursday (This would make four Thursdays in a row that the part "would definitely come in.") Waiting would mean that it would be at best five weeks since they first came by the house. I asked for my money back. They said they would send it. Not holding my breath short of a court action or complaint to the Better Business Bureau. 1 hour later: After seeing my review on Yelp, I got a call and was told that I needed to send Simon $38 more, that I would not be receiving my refund, and that he would send me the part whenever it came in. He told me that I could take him to court if I wanted my money back and that unless I sent him the $38 on top of the $400 he already had, he would keep my money and be done with me unless a court ordered him to pay me back. read more

Finding someone to come out on Sunday is hard enough, but with new years around the corner I thought we might be waiting until the New Year. Worst part was that I was a work and my wife was home to deal with this mess. I called about fifteen different businesses and left about half a dozen messages with no luck. I left Simon a message at 9:15am and he called back in five minutes. After describing the problem he was at the house by 10:30am.
