I was referred to Simon Med by my primary care provider in Gilbert ... Luckily I found this convenient location in Ahwatukee that wasn't very far from my house. It was fairly easy to find, but I will admit that I did research the location and pictures on yelp prior to arrival in order to avoid getting lost in a plaza I've never been to. It's a nice plaza - very cool water feature/pond right in front of Simon Med. The front desk girls were super sweet. After filling out some paper work I just relaxed in the waiting room and took some pictures of the facility to post on yelp ... It's all about using your time wisely ;) After an approximate wait time of an hour it was my turn ... But I will admit that an hour wait is not bad considering I was a walk-in appointment, and the radiology technician was very kind and friendly - she apologized for the wait time and informed me it was a very busy afternoon for them ... literally one patient after another. I totally understood being in the health care industry myself. The shoulder x-rays themselves were taken in less than 10min, and afterwards the tech asked me if I would like a copy of films or on a cd for myself, which was awesome of her!! 5 min later she came out with a cd of my shoulder images, and I was on my way! I would rate this center a solid 4.5 if that was possible ... I deducted a half start for having to wait over an hour, but a wait is pretty standard in most healthcare settings in this day and age. The office was very clean and contemporary looking, and each staff member that I encountered was super cool, professional, and courteous. Plus, it looks like this imaging center can handle pretty much anything except for maybe someone needing an open MRI unit. I would absolutely come back here if I needed additional medical imaging, and I would recommend others to come to this particular location as well - I noticed it has better yelp reviews than any of the other locations in close proximity ;) read more

Absolutely disgusted with this place. Would have been my first time there for a mammogram, and after repeated calls to schedule online, I went ahead and did so, then after receiving confirmation of my appt and weeks going by, and scheduling my other Drs appts to coincide with this one so my dr could go over all results at once, I get a vm the day before my appt telling me they already had someone booked for that time and I need to call to reschedule. Why wait weeks to tell me this?! It was hard enough to get this appt to begin with. I'm so irritated as I now sit on hold and it keeps telling me to schedule online, or to wait. First it said the wait would be 10 min, but somehow, instead of getting shorter, it keeps upping the wait time the longer I'm on hold. Now it says 15 mins. Wtf is wrong with this place??! read more

You can tell the employees don't want to be there. One girl was computer surfing while there's 3 of us in line. I will never be coming back here again, this service is bullshit. The woman in the front desk doesn't know how to do her job. She keeps asking her coworker what this order and that order is for. She's an idiot, the shirt one with black hair and glasses. No one addressed the line of 5 people waiting to check in, and it took over 20 minutes to get to the desk. This place is absolutely pathetic, arrived 30 minutes early to get an X-ray since they are on a walk-in basis, after the front desk lady not being able to find my order at all then having a more competent staff member find it in less than a minute they put me in the queue for an X-ray. 4th on the list at 8:30am .... it's now 11:30. Absurdly disappointing. Entered appointment last month; system asks for details that patient will not have. After calling and asking for the information, was told that was all I needed - next screen asks for more. Multiple 20 minute hold times, one representative very helpful, the other clearly ill-suited to the job. Call day before appointment (weeks later). Machine is broken. No offer to help rescheduling, no automatic reschedule. Go online and have to start over; worked with another phone rep to confirm. Go to appointment. 'You missed your appointment weeks ago.' No, here's the message saying the machine was broken and my confirmation. 'Well, she's an hour behind, so...' The manager also noted that it is a REGULAR PROBLEM WHERE APPOINTMENTS DO NOT TRANSFER FROM ONE SYSTEM TO ANOTHER. She noted that they've raised to corporate - she also looked at me funny when I asked them about manually looking at the systems and proactively calling customers. Best they could do is the following day. Oh, and here's paperwork to fill out (that I'd filled out online) Manager said 'don't worry'. I replied that my confidence in the 'system' wasn't great and could she check - you guess correctly - not in system. So, one month and multiple opportunities for anything resembling customer service. They are the only option. Recommendations Call or visit the facility ONCE YOU HAVE AN APPOINTMENT. Don't trust the online system, and make sure you speak with the location, not the general call center. Just print the forms and take in - clearly it cannot be trusted Write reviews. I feel bad for their staff having to deal with multiple systems and a non-responsive management chain. They clearly could do more to work around the challenges, but, ultimately they don't need to and aren't hindered in their diagnosis or time because of the deficiencies. read more

Went here for an X-ray at 8:30 was told the wait would be 2 hours and was understanding. I waited and asked if I could leave and come back when they would be ready for me. They said yes. So I left for an hour (remember the wait was two hours) I came back and continued to wait for another hour and a half before asking how much longer. At which point the lady at the front desk began counting charts while rolling her eyes and not responding then saying I don't know maybe another hour or two at which point I just asked for my stuff back. Overheard staff say that the tech took xrays of the wrong body part for the patient she had currently. Watched front end and patients use pens out of the clearly marked dirty bin without sanitizing. Honestly save your time and go to the one on kyrene. read more

I must be missing something about the way this works. I had an appointment for 12:05 for a spinal X-ray. At 1:00 pm I asked at the desk what happened to my appointment. She said the wait time was about 2 hours and those with appointments were worked in. An appointment means nothing. After more waiting in a basically empty office the x ray technician comes into the office from outside. He wasn't even in the office. The only other person waiting for an x ray was complaining VERY loudly and getting ready to walk out. Instead, she was given an appointment for the next day. Poor woman. After nearly two hours I got my x ray done. All I can figure is Simon Med does not want to do x rays. Next time I need an x ray I will tell the Doc no Simon Med! A few days ago I had the same issues many others commented on - extremely long wait times and poor communication from the folks working the front desk. One of them even said, somewhat jokingly, that I was lying about not receiving a return phone call from them. The excessive wait times are due to the closure of their Ray Rd facility. I suggest you check wait times at other locations prior to hitting the one on 45th. This location has signs that say XRays by walk-in only, no appointments can be made. However, since Covid kicked in their website does allow you to make an appointment The tech who handled my X-ray was great and was very apologetic about the wait times. read more

I would like to report Simon medical imaging, at 15810 South 45th Street suite 110 in Phoenix. They are making social distancing impossible. The door opens by the wall and along the wall are chairs 6 feet apart and six feet across from them is another row of chairs six feet apart, facing the chairs on the wall. The only way to get from the door to the receptionist is to walk down the middle passing within 3 ft of everybody in those two rows. the waiting room is big enough to move chairs off to the side, they did not need to create an aisle that a person has to walk through and pass everybody within 3 ft. The receptionist did not have a plexiglass protector. Why are they not protecting her? The hallways are very narrow. The staff could easily wait 5 seconds while I get out of the hall, but they don't, so they passed within inches of me. It's by far the most dangerous place I have gone and I stay home as much as possible, being very careful. A mammogram seems like an important diagnostic tool I did not want to skip, and I'm very concerned about the of degree of possible exposure they created, totally unnecessarily. Every other appointment and store trip that was necessary has felt way safer. I expect the doctor's office to meet the highest standard, not the least. Can anybody do anything about this? It's very scary that going for a mammogram is more dangerous than going to the grocery store!!!! read more

Went in for Xrays, today. Staff was very pleasant. Long wait, two hours, but they were kind enough to put me on the list, so I could run some errands. Short wait when I returned. The X ray technician, Andreas (or Andrea ) was amazing. So kind and helpful. I have a painful leg and wrists, which makes rising difficult, but she made sure I was stable and comfortable. She also would immediately say "breathe", once she got the image, after asking me to hold my breath. Also, to "relax " posture, once she got image she needed. Seems simple, but most are not that interested in one's comfort. She was a pro. Kind, yet exceptionally professional. Thank you, Simon Imaging in Ahwatukee, for hiring great people. The worst service ever! I had an appointment for afternoon 2/27, they called me in the morning to change because the machine was on "service"... so, they changed my appointment to 3/2 morning... I arrived on time and in the front desk did not find my appointment. They only said that the person who called made a mistake and put my appointment for 2/3 (how is this possible if 2/3 is before 2/27) and they can not do nothing because they are full, if I want I have to come back another day or in the afternoon. Only get 1 star because the staff is nice. The company however is running a scam that requires you to do extensive leg work and file complaints with your own insurance and that of the state the services were provided just to get a resolution. I was told multiple times that they accept my insurance and I would be covered. My insurance told me that SimonMed was an in network provider as well. They pretend to be part of your insurance network and you will be covered, but since they all license independently(Different NPI#'s and Tax ID's) of the "SimonMed's" name or SMI Imaging LLC, its impossible to get a resolution. They even have a section on all their bills on how to dispute "Out-of-Network" from your provider and state. This show's they are well aware of the scam they are running. It took them 5 months just to send it to my insurance just to be denied for Out-of-network. I'm pretty sure if If I didn't call 7 times and escalate as much as I did, they would have never gotten it to my insurance company to begin with. Instead chose to send me to collections for the remaining balance(I Paid $350 up front based on what "your insurance will cover". I am in the process of disputing with my insurance company for the second time, and based on SimonMeds invoice notes, I'm sure I'll have to escalate to my home state, and then again to the state in which SimonMed parent company is. Probably another 5 month ordeal. "Surprise out-of-network" dispute resolution guidance they put at the bottom on their invoices is not a surprise to them. If you have months to spend on getting insurance to approve and fighting with collection agencies, feel free, otherwise find a more reputable organization. UPDATE: From my insurance after several appeals dating back to March. "DR. X is indeed a participating provider with [My Insurance], but the location of the facility the services were rendered at are not." As I stated earlier, the SMI/Simon Med facilities are trying to operate on other approved facilities license's, but they will be rejected by your insurance. If knowing all this, you still decide Simon med is the place to go, get it in writing from your insurance provider that the Doctor, and the facility are approved in network. We will see how long this takes, but as of now, I owe $600 more than I was quoted. read more

Medical services like this one are the type that give the industry a bad name. The office staff are under prepared. Not able to actually communicate with customers but expect to just shuffle them about like sheep. I'm a paying customer. If I have a concern it's the concern of the staff. This place took my personal papers from me and used them for their own and would not return mine. That's called laziness. Do your job. I didn't bring papers in for them. Those were my papers. Than I ask for them back and am completely dismissed. What is this? This isnt how business is ran. I complained. Nothing. The desk lady left. Everybody else got mind blank. I actually saw the paper on the desk and said that one right there is mine. "Oh we need that." Completely unprofessional, over booked, staff was rude(not image tech), no apparent supervision as far as office manager as no one of leadership stepped in to offer to help. With as high as insurance premiums are jobs at these places should be performed by positive motivated helpful people. Expectations. Mine were not meant. Thanks so much for a great appointment. I had a scheduled ultrasound appointment today at the Ahwatukee location. The receptionist at the front desk was very helpful and got me checked in quickly. I waited about 15 minutes for my appointment. (But I came about 25 minutes early, so they ran ahead of time.) My ultrasound technician was very kind, helpful, and professional. She explained the procedure and put me at ease. She definitely took the extra time to be supportive. Oh, and they dressed up in cute holiday outfits for Halloween. Fun! I was treated with blatant disrespect when I was top my wait time is 30 mins and I ended up staying for 2 hours and then I asked her why is she letting people in that are not even before me she just simply rolled her eyes on me in which is unacceptable customer service which is a shame where I'm paying money out of my own pocket to receive this type of service and I do believe they should review their front desk workers (the blond black lady and the white woman) . This place has zero respect for people's time. My wife booked an appointment online for last week for a CT. When she arrived at her appointment time, she was told "We don't do CT's on this day". Awesome. One would think that THEIR online scheduler would reflect that but I guess I'm the crazy one to assume that SimonMed would have their stuff together. So she scheduled another appointment for today. When she arrived, she was told the CT was down and they were waiting on parts to repair it. Now, if the CT just went down today, I could understand that. Machines break all the time. But the fact they are waiting on parts suggest to me it has been down enough time to have called someone to repair it and that someone diagnosed the issue and ordered the parts necessary. With that said, why didn't Simon Med think to call the CT appointments for today to advise them of the issue and possibly reschedule to a different location? Their scheduling system must have a way to filter appointments for different procedures to prevent overbooking. Why not use the same filter to advise people of equipment issue too? I know, crazy talk again! But definitely a failure to respect other people's time. read more

This place is horrible! The staff are ill informed and are terrible and managing expectations. I took my mother here for a routine xray and it was almost a 3 hours wait. They told us she's next in line and they literally took back 18 people ahead of her. Maybe if I slipped them a 20 we could have been seen faster? This is not the first time this has happened to her at this location. In addition to this, they have frequently messed up her billing. Their default excuse is always that it's the insurance company's fault, but upon further investigation we discovered that is actually their fault. Stay away if you can. read more

Lexy was the tech who did my ultra sound and she was fantastic. Super knowledgeable and made me feel so comfortable during my exam, which was a relief because I was pretty nervous. She sat down with me and chatted for a bit while she was uploading my images and was very friendly and honestly that was just such a breath of fresh air because most medical facilities can feel very cookie cutter and not very personal. She made me feel validated in my concerns and gave me clear after care instructions should I have any concerns in the future. Results were verbalized quicker than I would have thought as well which was nice. read more

I agree with every 1 star rating here. I was scheduled at the Dobson location, but rescheduled to the Ahwatukee location. The minute I walked up to check in I felt like I was in trouble. There wasn't any form of greeting. Just, "what's your name? " Give me your insurance cards and ID. I finally started speaking back to the receptionist in the same tone. She was probably in her 30's, I'm 70. Very disrespectful young lady. Then, as I was filling out the forms, a couple about my age came up to the counter. The man was obviously in pain. Another young lady spoke to them in the same tone, but louder so that everyone in the entire waiting area could hear. It had to do with his insurance copay. The couple kept trying to figure out why, and the young lady just got louder. I finally decided that if the front desk staff was this unprofessional, why would I take a chance with the MRI technician. I asked if I could make payment arrangements since I had just made a payment of that amount to them. They refused. So I paid it and I am still waiting for mri, now it's 5:15. Zero Stars....Read this review and ask your Doctor to send in an X-ray order to Banner Imaging instead, who treats their patients like gold. After being hounded by SimonMed with their repeated calls to my cell phone 3 times a day to set up an x-ray appt, that is sent in yearly by my Doctor. I waited 12 minutes on hold with SimonMed to make an appt. I made an appt and was never told that there would be a 3.5 HOUR wait for a simple x-ray. I got to this disaster of a business in time for my appt, not knowing I would have to wait hours. The receptionist was telling the huge influx of elderly folks that the wait for a walk-in Xray was 3.5 hours and they were sent to the Ray and Kyrene location, since they said the wait was not as long; a lie. Since I made an appt earlier in the week, I assumed that I would be seen quickly. I watched as 15 people were called in for their imaging appts; and even 6 people that had come in AFTER me. I waited over and hour to be called in for my appt an hour earlier then my original appt time. When the waiting room was empty, I asked when I would be seen? The receptionist said that I was still 3rd on the list, however the waiting room was empty. Now I know why I was charged my co-pay BEFORE being seen. They use it as a way for you to wait it out in their waiting room for hours and hours. I'm not waiting for incompetent, ignorant employees, to actually do their job. SimonMed will go out of business as they don't care about their patients. This company sucks. I got a refund on my payment that I had made an hour earlier, and immediately booked an appt at Banner imaging after my Doctor phoned in an order to them. My daughter was visiting us in Tempe AZ for Thanksgiving. She had to have an MRI on an expedited basis. Given my past experience with SimonMed I was reluctant to agree that she could go there, but there was no option. My concerns were confirmed. In the past I had very questionable work done. While my daughter's imaging appeared to have been done correctly this time, their "back office" operations are consistently horrible. Our family has used SimonMed on 7 to 10 occassions. Our experience with them means that I will wait longer for imaging appointments just to avoid using them! Their billing is alway a nightmare and fixing it VERY time consuming. This time they sent me a bill for $135 stating that it was the co-pay. Called, waited more than 30 minutes, was told I was wrong and to pay it. I submitted that to my insurance carrier. The carrier responded that I owed nothing for SimonMed's services, they had already been paid in full. The very next day I received a letter in the mail fdemanding $1,968.08 for the same services! Because it takes several calls, extremely long waits and dealing with rude people to get SimonMed to do anything, I called my carrier instead. After the call today, which took about 2 1/2 hours, they agreed that I owed nothing and that they owed me the $135 I had sent them on account of their first mistake. The SimonMed billing person said I would have a check in that amount in perhaps 45 days. I am aware of insurance companies that do something like this. They agree to pay, but hold the money for days, even weeks, so that they can collect the interest or "time value of money" by not paying immediately. In the aggregate this can amount to a lot of money. TO BE CLEAR: I don't know if this is what they are doing. But one has to wonder why it can possibly take that long to issue a check. Unless you have hours to TRY to get them to do the right thing, AVOID USING SIMONMED! read more

The girl next to me says she got there at 3pm because her Dr made an appt for an xray for her. When she arrived after driving 45 min she was told she didn't actually have an appointment and they would not honor the time set. She had to wait 4 1/2 hours before she was seen for a two view chest X-ray. I don't know how this facility is being managed but something definitely needs to change. I have had several MRIs, (6 or 7+) all at this location. Melissa at the front desk today and Zach the MRI tech were both fantastic. I arrived five minutes before my appointment with my pre-check in not having been done. I felt terrible, they both said no problem, it's fine, we'll get it done. Zach was especially helpful getting me comfortable before beginning, using a foam pad to go under my back... that has not been done before. I always have a lot of pillows under my knees because of my back problem but the foam pad was the real winner. I was in there for 20 minutes and was completely comfortable. It was was done and I was thrilled. I don't know why the other reviews are three stars, I didn't bother to read them because mine have always been terrific. First thing in the morning appointments are the best, no waiting. I think Zach especially helpful. Not every tech has been that great but still a positive experience. As for wait time, people show up late... which makes them run late.... humans aren't perfect. For any type of appt. anywhere, bring a book, or perhaps the next time you run late for an appt. you should be turned away, and no one else would be kept waiting. BTW when is the last time any complainers wrote a positive review? read more

First, the techs are all wonderful. The administrative staff is completely incompetent, which is probably due to any definitive assistance from the management at the top - starting with a do-it-yourself appointment schedule on line that is just about as cumbersome as it gets! I have gone to this facility several times and it is never efficient and friendly. Not to mention that Xrays are by "walk in only." People generally have to take off work, so "walk in only" doesn't work AT ALL! Because if you get there and they have too many people who have shown up that day they abruptly tell you you cannot get it done that day due to too many walk-ins! So, after you have already left work to take time off to get an Xray you then have to try it again the next day, or the next. Employers generally don't like this SimonMed!!!! When asked what time they open so you can get it done first thing in the AM they illogically tell you what time except that if you get there at that time the Xray techs are not there for another hour and a half! I have also been to this facility where I had an appointment for a scan, but they couldn't locate the order in the same system that called me to tell me to set up my own appointment on line. Really? SimonMed is one of the few ambulatory scanning facilities available in the valley, and they have us by the balls! Why do medical facilities act like they are all doing us a favor when we are paying boatloads of money as consumers?! read more
