The menu at Simon's is VAST! Virtually anything imaginable is available--and for a rather reasonable price! One of my favorites is the American cheese omelet with avocado added, and served with home-made mashed potatoes or sweet potato fries rather than with regular fries if one wishes, and several pancakes, too! My niece enjoys the patty melt sandwich, which looks delicious! A nice helping of complimentary soft serve "ice cream" is offered at the end of the meal. Simon's is typically extremely busy, though somehow, the service doesn't suffer in the least because of it! Greek-style diner with all the offerings you would expect from breakfast, burgers, chicken, and pasta. Large salads and a great assortment of desserts. I'm typically a fan of Simon's until I went today and spent $3.09 for a child's orange juice. I asked the guy before I paid if it was really $3.09 for a kid's orange juice. He informed me that they don't really have a kids orange juice so I got charged for a regular size. My reply to that was that was ridiculous since it's less orange juice in a kids cup. He went on to say that it's the same amount and it's fresh squeezed so that's why it's so expensive. I told him I could buy a carton at the store for $3.00 and it was ridiculous and it doesn't matter if it's fresh squeezed b/c it tastes the same as OJ from a carton. I will not be returning for a while. $3.09 is absurd for orange juice in a child's cup!!!! read more

I was at an event in Lombard last night I did not get out of the event until close to 9:30 pm. I was incredibly hungry. We searched for a place to eat. Finding a place to sit down and eat other than a fast food restaurant is nearly impossible. We did find one on Roosevelt Rd. The place was Simon's Restaurant, we were happy to find that they had good hour of operation they open at 6am and close at 12am. They serve Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. The restaurant was clean. The owner was there, and in a pleasant mood, He was the one who seated us. Within moments our server was there to get our drink order. Then after the drinks arrived he was ready for our dinner order. The dinner platters come with a complementary bowl of soup and a potato offering of some kind. There was a surprise at the end of the meal for us there was a complementary ice cream. The prices are no worse than Denny's, and there was a much wider selection. I was over all satisfied with my experience at Simon's. read more

Over the past couple years my boyfriend, his mother, and myself have become quite fond of Simon's, even if it is a tad over priced with other similar styled restaurants around serving the same quality for less. This being said the past 3 or 4 times the food has been horrible. The wait staff and cleanliness have been good, but the food quality has been lacking. We went tonight because we got out of an event late and the place we wanted was closed. I got the corned beef sandwich, deluxe which is an extra $1.30 for added soup, and he got the Philly cheese steak sandwich, which automatically came with soup. I ordered the chicken and rice, which is usually VERY good, but was oatmeal thick and very bland, and he ordered the french onion, which looked like just onions in a little sauce, and was bland as well. We received our mains shortly after, and we both took one bite of our sandwiches and sent them back. The corned beef tasted old and off and the Philly, which was shaved roast beef and not at all the type of meat to come on a Philly, tasted like it had sat in a refrigerator, after being heated once, for a week to then be reheated. We called the manager over, explained what was wrong and she promptly took our food away and apologized, our waitress walked by shortly after and we gave her a $3 tip, because she was a good waitress. We then get our check, to see that yes the sandwiches had been removed, but that we were being charged almost $10 for the two soups that came with the meals. I would not have minded if we were charged the price difference, or even $2.50 each for the soups, but $10?! for soups that were included with the meals. When asked, the manager stated that because we ate the soup we were going to be charged the ALA CART prices. That is NOT how you run a business. We only ordered the soup because they were $1.30 and free. We will not be back. read more

Don't know why my review from a while back is gone, but I'll post it again, so people can see it. Have not eaten here in YEARS, even those I live right by it. Reason? I called one Friday about the fish fry, was told by the woman owner it was going to 8Pm (or 9pm can't remember). Anyway, came in, got one plate of fish and was told they were out. Told the server I was not going to pay for an 'All you can eat' dinner, since I only got one plate. Said I would pay for a 'fish dinner" no problem, since that is what I got. She talked to the owners, and they didn't want to do anything! I had to go argue with them about why I would have to pay for something I did not get! They didn't care and were going to charge me for a All you can eat fish dinner, even those I only got one place before they ran out of fish. I was finally able to get them to throw in a ice cream Sunday, to make up for the dinner I did not get. What kind of place or owners would have the attitude, of "You ordered all you can eat and we ran out after you had only one plate, well too bad, you still pay for an all you can eat fish dinner!". Never have gone back, and never will! Don't need to support a business with owners that selfish and greedy, in my opinion. I dont know what happened to Simons over the last year or so, it seems to me like it changed owners. Not what it used to be, the last 3 times we were there and I think today might have been the last try. Walked into their vestibule and it smelled funky, the floors were slippery in that not feeling clean sort of way. The food was below average at best, over seasoned, not even plated the same way as before. Before it was a contender for 5 stars, one of the best Greek coffee shops around. This place isn't ,so bad. I think that the managers, the woman in particular, should learn to treat their staff with respect. When they think that no one can hear what they are saying, I can clearly hear all the negativity. This usually happens on Sundays when its busy. Ive had a few different waitresses and even though we get our meals late we still get good service. I understand its busy. But what i do think is creepy is the bus boys hanging out in the corner of the restaurant or just standing in the middle. ugh! But as far as food, breakfast and soups will always be fresh. I know for a fact they cant reheat eggs and soups are made daily. So who knows what they reheat back there. Gross. But expect great service, and friendly faces in the mornings. Stopped in early afternoon on 4/19/19 - parking lot was packed, thought we would have a long wait. Was very impressed how they got people in, seated immediately, served quickly, and no one had to wait any significant time to be seated. Our server, NINA was the BEST!! So attentive even though the place was so busy, she treated us as if we were her special guests and was extremely attentive and friendly and just excellent! I'm hooked on the garden skillet which I usually order no matter what time of day. Food is always great, service is always really good but Nina was exceptional! Husband always orders the cream of chicken rice soup - so delicious! We are seniors on a fixed income so we can't eat out often, but when we do, we usually choose Simon's as we always have a positive experience there. Food, service is always great and portions and prices are very fair. Looking forward to returning soon. All over great service in this place!! read more

Didn't plan ahead to go get breakfast this morning but my hub and I were out doing a little shopping and got suddenly hungry. I hadn't been here in a long time. We got seated right away and the busboy brought water. Good start. There were at least 4 or 5 wait staff milling around. Since it was 10:30 only about 5 tables were occupied. Although I kept looking around no one made eye contact or asked if we wanted coffee for quite some time. I get really antsy without that coffee while I'm perusing the menu. There were no cups on the table so I couldn't put it on the edge like I do for a big hint. When the waitress finally took my coffee order and brought me a good tasting cup of caffeine things got better. My denver omelette was delish as were the hash browns and toast. Only odd thing is that I got a tiny container of some kind of jam for the toast. No choice of preserves at all. I like strawberry and this was not strawberry. Husband had a really nice ham and egg panini. It came on sourdough bread with ham from the bond and was really tasty. Desserts are to die for! Baklava is very good. Would have been a 4 or 5 star but the wait was too long for coffee in an empty restaurant. read more

My wife and I took our families to Simon's for Father's Day Dinner and proceeded to have one of the most embarrassing & miserable dining experiences of our lives. It began by being seated and then waiting 15 minutes before we saw our waitress. Then we waited 45 minutes for our food to be served. The restaurant was not even busy!!! My father-in-law's milkshake was soupy milk water, my mother-in-law's toast was cold and rock hard and my mother's sandwich was not what she ordered. When my wife cut into her sausage patty, it was cold and pink on the inside and my sister-in-law discovered mold on her turkey sandwich. When we called the manager over, he tried to explain away the mold as being "lettuce" and then began arguing with us about our complaints. We walked out and will never go back again! Went to Simon's since other area restaurants were full. Big mistake and should have waited. Our server Kelly was short with us and snippy. When the food arrived she basically slammed the plates down in front of us. The food was OK but not great for the price. My hamburger was undercooked and when I asked the server Kelly for a new one she acted like I was a pain. Will not return until the food and service gets better. read more

They used to be good, with a good value for $ spent. After a recent visit , my stepson and I ordered the "special" which was pumpkin pancakes which came with 2 eggs cooked to order. We also ordered a side of bacon each to go with it. Our food took forever to get to us and it was lukewarm at best. I ordered my eggs over medium and they came not so over easy instead. The pancakes were not much bigger than a coffee cup and were also lukewarm. I have a restaurant by my house where I order the same thing and the pancakes are as big as the plate! It also comes with eggs and bacon or sausage for $2 less than their so called special! My bill for a 9 year old and myself was about $40 including tip! REALLY? ( the waitress was very good by the way and I wasn't making her suffer because of an incompetent boss). When I voiced my displeasure to the manager while paying my bill, he informed me that's what you pay for is quality. HA! I'm no chef but I promise you I make a better pumpkin pancake than their cook can and a much better portion! I have NO problem paying for a good meal, otherwise I would stay home; I just happened to be in the area that morning and my stepson and I were hungry. Just want your money for really, really bad food. Would not recommend. Prices very high for the quality. Pies and cakes in the front are old and tasteless while again searching for money. The last time we were in the area (business at Oak Brook) we stayed in Villa Park and ate at this restaurant several times. This is the place you want to go when you want "normal" food. That is what my husband said to the hotel clerk, actually. He asked where one could get "normal" food, meaning American comfort food, and Simon's was recommended. Friendly staff and a decent selection. Yes, it is standard fare, but it is good standard fare and sometimes that is what you want. We will definitely stop by again! read more

Simon's has definitely had better days. We usually go there for breakfast and have had no complaints. This time we went for dinner. It was not very busy so I am not sure what the problem was. My dinner salad had raw bacon in it. Raw as in the fat on the bacon was white. I picked it out and did not send it back but mentioned to the waitress I was unimpressed. She gave us an eye roll and went to talk to the manager. They did offer us a desert, which I really didn't want, but the kids wanted banana cream pie so we took her offer. We waited 10 minutes while she got into a long conversation with another waitress. The pie was not worth the wait. Stick to breakfast at this place. read more

Well after avoiding going to Simon's for years. Well this past weekend my cousin talked me into going for a late breakfast. Well, should have passed it up. Ordered a egg white omelet with mushrooms and cheese....mushrooms tasted like they came right out of the can and cheese was placed all to one end...no flavor, no taste...ordered sausage patties on the side, they were greasy and grey, no color about 1/8" thin. Greek toast apparently means "Texas Toast" to them...what happened to the real thing? Will not go again....will stick with the tried and true Omega...Waitress was the only good thing... read more

Simons advertises a fish fry on Fridays but wont give u much fish even though they advertise as much AS YOU WANT. 2 small pieces and then if you ask for more, they take 20 minutes to give u another small piece, then wait another 20 minutes to get another piece. Any restaurant with a fish fry like this is not good. read more
