I ordered the spicy tuna poke bowl with sesame seeds over quinoa. Overall, it was good. The ingredients tasted good together. My only complaint would be the quinoa-it was so bland. I think they literally just boiled it in plain water and that was it. I'm not sure if people actually eat quinoa like that, but I didn't like it. Also, if I had gotten the rice, would it have been plain, bland, white rice? Because I wouldn't have liked that either. I expected the rice/quinoa to be seasoned with vinegar like the rice in sushi. The best poke bowl in all of Manhattan. Between my boyfriend and I, we've visited 7 different poke places in the city, and none compare to the quality and consistency of Simple. Tucked away on a small street in Chinatown, Simple is very small inside. However, the cute decor and obvious care that the owner has put into the shop and food is very evident. The staff is very nice and the prices are reasonable. My boyfriend and I are the type to never go to the same restaurant twice, but we've made an exception with Simple because it's just that good! If you catch them before or after their lunch and dinner rush, its a relaxing place to have a healthy meal! The lady at the counter is always very friendly and is professional and hospitable. The best pokè place I have tried in Chinatown area. It is small and cute spot, definitely do not go there with a big group. I paid 11$ for my bowl, which is really good for the amount that you get. I have definitely gone to other places and paid more for less. I got the spicy salmon bowl. Fish was super fresh. Love the fact there is options for your base _ you can choose white or brown rice, quinoa or salad. There is also options for your crunch! I got the wonton crisps which gave my bowl a good texture. This place has yet again won another person's heart (mine), and has taken place of my favorite poke place so far. Although I wasn't able to customize the toppings, aside from choosing a "crunchies" topping, the ones paired with my bowl sufficed. I got a cooked salmon poke bowl with brown rice and salad greens as my bases (it's +$1 for an extra base), and omitted the crunchies. My bowl had a little too much sauce for my liking, but it was delicious and filling nonetheless. My friend got a salmon (raw) bowl with quinoa but didn't like his very much. The quinoa was cold, unlike my warm brown rice, and didn't pair well with the bowl. I let him try some of mine, which we both very much enjoyed, and he re-ordered and got the same exact thing I got. I also overheard a customer raving about how this was his favorite poke place when he bumped into a friend at the store, and I could definitely see why. I finally had the chance to try out this new poke spot in my neighborhood! Employees are knowledgeable about their menu items and helpful in answering questions. I ordered the salmon and spicy tuna bowl so I can try out both types instead of just one, with an extra cost of $3...not bad and I didn't mind. the bowl was delicious and toppings that I was surprised when I mixed. It came with guacamole (I loveeeeee guac and it tasted good), shredded carrots, beets, masago, diced mango, and choice of crunches (wonton strips, roasted sesame seeds, sunflower seeds and corn flakes). I could be missing a few more other ingredients since there were so much! Both the salmon and tuna was very fresh. I think it could have used a bit more sauce, but overall it was good enough. I definitely couldn't finish the entire bowl, so good thing I shared. The amount is pretty generous, but being that I can never finish an entire bowl, for two would be sufficient enough. It's tucked away in a small street and its little shop resembles a cute and modern area where people can relax and eat at the same time without feeling rushed. I love the decor here and it gives off a welcomed vibe. I will definitely come back here since it's close to where I work! I can safely say that this is *the best* poke in the city. There are many poke places which are mediocre and forgettable. Simple is not one of them. Other poke spots are like Subway or Chipotle. Food geta shoveled into a bowl based on the customer order and you end up with fish-rice mush. At Simple, the chef has designed the items on the menu to flow together like a beautiful symphony. Do not attempt to modify the poke bowls. They are beautiful as they are. My favorite is the spicy salmon poke bowl on white rice with all crunchies (corn flakes, wonton crisps, sunflower seeds and fried onions). The spicy salmon bowl comes with a variety of pickled vegetables, carrots, cucumber, avocado, fish roe, and a piece of orange that is an absolute delight that i've never seen done at any other place. Perhaps what wraps the experience in a nice bow is that the bowl is so reasonably priced. The spicy salmon bowl with all that I described is only about 11 bucks. Normally avocado is a surcharge, but not at Simple. I usually also get their mango black tea with lychee jelly. It is a cannon blast of mango flavor on your tongue and the lychee jelly bits are chewy little candy treats. It can be very sweet for some people, but you can ask for it to be made with less sugar and it's still good. My girlfriend and I have been coming to Simple for over two years now and intend going mamy more times. Simple is a neighborhood institution. The staff is are so lovely and the chef is incredibly talented. I feel like I have no need to try poke anywhere else anymore because Simple is just that good. read more

This is by far, and no offense to PokeBowl on 840 W 50/51st Street, the best Poke Bowl I have ever had. I have been here I believe twice or at least three times, and I have not been disappointed. My first visit was suggested by fellow gym-goers​ at Willyb Crossfit down on Grand Street. When I walked in, a young woman greeted​ me warmly and answered all of my annoying questions. The staff was even generous and allowed me to try one of the ingredients​ I was not familiar with. I got the Spicy​ Tuna Bowl with brown rice, seaweed salad, edamame, sesame seeds, dried seaweed, shredded carrots and mangos without the pickled radish (although since I've been there, they still put it in my bowl, but no biggie). Everything tastes fresh and is truly made with love, this is a tight space so if you're just strolling around the LES and are in the mood for a poke bowl; this is definitely the place you want to go to. They offer free tap water and their service is excellent, I've never seen the place messy nor have I seen anyone experience ​bad service. They also offer bento boxes and even offer octopus as the​ main protein, which is not something I have seen from a poke bowl​ restaurant. The fish was fresh and the bowl was full of toppings and flavor. All for under $12? Yes please. Above all, the service was super nice and friendly. The wait for our food did not take long at all, which was great because we were starving. Since this place is so small ( just a little hole in the wall), there is limited seating. There was no line when I dropped by here on a Monday afternoon, and the service and experience were excellent. The place is popping with color, decorated with brightly partnered paper, a large collection of teas, and quotes from Steve Jobs and Angelina Jolie. The seating was limited but adorable, with four little stools, window seat with IKEA pillows, and a two-person high top with plenty of wall sockets for charging electronics while you eat. The two best sellers are the spicy tuna and the salmon, according to the owner who carefully walked us through the menu. The bowls are separated into raw and cooked bowls, so that I can finally drag my boyfriend who hates sashimi through the doors of a poke restaurant. Each bowl is very splittable between two people (especially with a dessert or appetizer), and I was impressed by the quality and amount of the sashimi given the price and location (11.98 after tax). Peeking into the matching bright and cheery kitchen, I saw a surprisingly clean lime green tiled interior that made me actually trust a Chinatown restaurant to serve me raw meat. Amazing! I've tried five different poke shops in the last month, and Simple is by far the best one I've been to! It stands out from the rest because they take the time to marinate their fish and make sure each topping is delicious. Granted, they don't have 100% customizable bowls, which makes it easier to perfect each bowl, but I think that really works in their favor. They have about 6 different set bowls, but each one is perfectly executed. Their presentation is beautiful! You can really tell that they care about their product and care about serving each customer the best poke bowl they've ever had. Also, they're just a really nice group of people. Everyone is extremely friendly and they're open to chatting with you and truly care about your dining experience, in every aspect. One last thing, the portion sizes are huge! Have been looking for a Poke place that has reasonable prices with great food. I have finally found one at Simple. They use fresh and healthy ingredients in all the Poke bowls. My first time there I went with the Salmon Poke with white rice, fantastic. It isn't authentic Poke that you get in Hawaii but it works beautifully. It has a combination of Asian cuisines/favors all rolled up into one bowl. My second time around I went with their special Miso Shrimp with quinoa and my wife got the Salmon Bento Box, both were great. Each dish is definitely enough to satisfy your hunger. You can expect a little wait since each item is made to order, but it is well worth it. Staff is friendly and willing to explain and/or provide recommendations depending on your diet. They are also looking to change some of the menu depending on the season and the best available ingredients they can find.
