Ordered takeout from here because I haven't seen such an affordable fettuccine alfredo around in like... ages... so I was super excited to try after reading the reviews! First off, the portion was more than generous. I couldn't even finish it and had to save for leftovers! The garlic bread I got was really soft and buttery. Solid 10/10. I got my pasta with shrimp and it was all so delicious. The pasta was so creamy and the flavor was on point. My pasta craving was 100% satisfied. Will definitely order again!
I def agree with the other reviews about getting a good size portion and food tasted great. Since we dined in, it did seem like their business was mostly takeout as there was a steady stream of people picking up orders. The restaurant did give a feel of mostly take out as the cleanliness in the dining area did not seem like a focus. The floors were very sticky and the tables had empty salt and pepper shakers. The area near the displays could use a good sweeping and the table edges need to be wiped down as there is old food and sauce stuck on. The tv monitors were not on and there is only 1 menu at the counter to use for ordering. I would order from here again but probably take out.
I DoorDashed. It was very delicious. I love how it's a good amount and not so pricey. I definitely would choose this pasta over Olive Garden. I think I would consider coming here in person too.
Yummy pasta! We ordered customizable pastas, which were tasty and a big portion. They came in takeout containers, so that's great if you're not planning to eat all of it in one sitting. There were seats and tables along the wall, but the space is limited. Service was great. We will be back for sure!

ORDER -Meat lovers -Fettuccine with butter sauce -Fettuccine with Alfredo sauce -Penne with herb sauce -Mix of toppings for all pasta dishes -Espresso and pistachio gelato -Pistachio and chocolate chip cannoli STARS (stand out qualities) -Pasta is hot and comes out fast -Many fresh ingredients, particularly the vegetables -Gelato is delicious and special offering only available in select stores -Family run business -Jason is super great about customer service. -Cannoli cream made fresh -Interior is nicely decorated. Tables and chairs are comfortable. Walk paper brick wall feels nice even though not actual bricks STAIRS (areas of growth) -I think some ingredients are canned like olives, tomatoes and maybe others -I'm not a fan of the hot food in the black plastic container bowls. I'm worried about chemicals leaching at such high temperatures. This is understandable for takeout but I hope they will consider other options for dine in guests. If they are willing, I would even bring my own glass container or bowl (similar to how coffee shops let you bring your own mug...even sometimes with a discount but I don't expect that kind of discount for a small business ). -The other staff are not as strong about customer service as Jason but they get the job done well. -Bathroom is clean enough but could be nicer and cleaner -Cannoli shell is not as light and tasty as more fresh ones I've tried but I don't think this restaurants needs to make fresh ones since the focus is "Simply Pasta" TIPS -When ordering pasta, you can get as many veggie toppings as you'd like -Italian soda came with a light in it. I would ask for no light in the future since I don't want something like that exposed in something I ingest but others may not mind! If above changes were made about the reusable container, I would come back more often.
This is a nice place to get a quick fix on your pasta cravings. The menu is simple. You can either build your own pasta dish or order one that's on the menu. I built my own pasta with my choice meaty marinara sauce, some vegetables and extra protein. They cook it fresh per order where you can either eat in or take out. Portion size was good, but the sauce was a little too sweet for me. It reminded me of Filipino spaghetti, which I love! BUT I was hoping for a savory marinara sauce since that's what I was craving for. Overall, even though I was a little disappointed with the sauce, I finished it lol. It was really good though. Noodles were not soggy, just perfect. Jason is super nice and I would most definitely come again for my next pasta craving.
Family-run shop for quick and filling pasta meals at decent prices. This little brick and mortar located at an aged yet serviceable mall will satisfy your Italian cravings all in one convenient spot. Just blocks away from the highway and other popular shops and destinations like theaters, parks, and schools, Simply Pasta serves up made-to-order pasta dishes that can be customized with their array of ingredients as well as distributing gelato from Fiorello, a local vendor out in San Rafael, and cannoli constructed from shells made from a local vendor and cream made in-house. In addition, you'll also get your thirst quenched with their wide selection of syrups for their Italian sodas. While most patrons seem to be locals coming in for takeout (either from calling ahead and picking up themselves or ordering through a delivery service), they do have a few tables for indoor dining. The dining space isn't big but it's fine for small parties. The decor along the walls do give off an impression of being in an Italian piazza which complements the food quite well. On the plus side, if you are dining in, you'll constantly smell the delicious flavors wafting from the kitchen as the staff prepare other orders. The parking lot is pretty spacious and seldomly filled so you'll have no problem with a quick pick up. As you walk into the establishment, you'll see the beautiful display racks for snacks seemingly fitting with the Italian theme, a floral lined bench for those pictures worth sharing on social media and the faux brick wallpaper lining the walls. As you step in further, you'll be greeted by the staff and if it's your first time, be oriented on the ordering process. The menu is simple - it's simply pasta! There are premade variations which are more cost-effective than customizing your order with the same ingredients. But if you're looking to tailor your meal to your craving, you can choose from a variety of pasta options (penne, fettuccine, spaghetti , linguine), sauces (marinara - meaty or herb, alfredo, garlic and butter, pesto), proteins (chicken breast, sausage, meatballs, bacon, scallops, shrimp, baby clams, calamari), and vegetables (broccoli, spinach, mushrooms, olives, sweet red peppers, sun dried tomatoes). The proteins are priced per selection while you are not limited with the vegetables - if you want them all, have at it! With each pasta dish, you'll also get one small slice of garlic bread, always fresh out of their oven. Upon taking your order, the staff will start cooking it up with pre-chopped ingredients (similar to an omelette bar). They only have one stovetop and will cook the dishes in the order they're received, each freshly stir fried and mixed up with the desired sauce. When your meal is ready, they'll serve the piping hot meal up in one of the plastic containers ready for to-go orders or for patrons dining in to take their leftovers home (just ask for a lid). The food is big portioned and delicious. If you decide to order meatballs, I believe it's about 5 meatballs per order. Give or take, you're looking at about a third to half a pound of protein. Mixed in with your veggie selection, you've got a hearty meal (maybe with some leftovers) for under $20. If you decide to dine in, they'll give you water cups for the fountain water but you can also decide to order the fountain drinks as well as Italian sodas. They have a good selection of flavors and they drop in a little flashing light to add a bit of flare to the drink. Personally I would have preferred the light to not touch the drink to minimize contamination but it was a nice gesture for the kiddos. Jason, the owner, with his family do a great job making us feel welcomed and fed with their delicious food. The staff are friendly, efficient, and keep the place pretty clean. This spot is truly a place owned and operated by locals for other locals to enjoy. Definitely has that homey vibe! Overall, Simply Pasta specializes in quick, hearty pasta dishes and serves up fresh, filling, and delicious food. The portions make the slightly higher cost rather acceptable, but the biggest factor that brings the crowds in my opinion is their speed and freshness. If you're in a pinch and looking for a fresh (like homemade) meal, in 10 minutes, you'll be out the door with a hot batch of your customized pasta meal. Simply Pasta is simply a place you'll need to try!
It is such a cute spot! They have a lot of cute decor so you can take some pics for insta while you wait for your food! The food always comes out fresh and they always give you a lot of protein! The Italian soda are so refreshing definitely recommend trying! The garlic bread is included with your order of pasta and it's super good! I believe it's sourdough bread! The service is great and I would come back again!
Very rare to find a pasta shop around here in the Bay Area because you have to go to a bigger restaurant to order pasta. This place is like the fast food version of Italy. Everything isn't too fancy but at the same time, well decorated. I was looking over the menu and you can basically customize your own pasta dish. All comes with garlic bread. Otherwise, you can simply get one of their own specialties, which I got since it's my first time here. The Shrimp Alfredo is very delicious especially when you add Parmesan cheese. The garlic bread is good even though that its quality is average. It's fine because I only care about the main dish the most. Prices are decent as well and it took them 15 minutes to prepare my food, but I think it depends on what dish you get.

Haven't had recently as it's unhealthy Sips: Galvanina organic ginger ale (4.60) -didn't taste like 31 grams of sugar (62% of daily...) -ginger ale taste faint. Underwhelming Doubtful repeat: food/drinks not healthy although quite deliz. Lotsa parking. Many commercial vacancies...

I saw that they sold cannolis here, so I stopped by to try them. I placed an order online and one order of cannolis was 2 pieces for 6.05$. I decided to get a chocolate chip cannoli and a pistachio cannoli. When I arrived to pick up my order, there didn't appear to be anyone at the front counter. I waited a few minutes before I heard some some movement in the back, so I called out to see if I could grab their attention. It took a few tries but eventually someone came out to help me. I did notice while waiting that it appears their online ordering prices are higher than in-store prices (one order of cannolis was 5.75$). Not much higher but there is a difference. The cannolis had a good amount of filling and the shells were crunchy. Each bite was evenly filled, though the toppings are only on the ends. They have other desserts, and pasta of course, so I'll have to come back and try those. read more

So glad I found this gem for my go to pasta fix...I love the build your own pasta option to customize how you want your pasta cooked...went back twice in a month already...had the linguine with mushrooms, spinach, sun dried tomatoes, chicken and mild Italian sausage the 1st time and switched to meatballs the 2nd time...both times the pasta was cooked perfectly al dente...my only issue was too much oil in the sauce the 1st time...my noodles had a puddle on the bottom...the 2nd time was less oily...will definitely add this to my lunch rotation... read more

Newish small business opened up near me that focuses on simple homey pasta bowls...all over it. Cool dude (pretty sure is the owner) always takes my order over phone and delivers upon timely pick-up seamlessly. Small cute place that actually has seasonal decorations and tables for maybe about a dozen peeps. But I would say that the majority of business is for take-out. And whether you eat in or not, it will be packaged in a generous take-out bowl. They've got a few pasta dishes already laid out with ingredients like a meatball and red sauce and a seafood one in garlic butter. But they also have a build-your-own feature that I'm sure many will exercise. I've been in 3 times and here are some finds. Seafood Galore ($18/4.5*) This is one of their designed dishes but I added some broccoli to add another dimension. It was pretty damn good. Actually decent sized shrimps, tender bay scallops and tiny clam bits all bathed in a simple garlic butter and mixed with linguine pasta. The pasta is nice and al dente and there is just enough garlic butter to coat the pasta, none on the bottom of the bowl to sop up with bread. I think they should add a bit more but it did feel a lot lighter than most other American pasta dishes. Very filiing bowl and was very pleased with the seafood quality. Also tried some build your owns and I'll just rate/describe the elements versus the bowls I made, since you'll probably just make your own bowl. Fresh Herbs Marinara (3.5*) A good basic tomato sauce, kinda chunky. Didn't really get a lot of herbs but I go heavy on herbs at home. This has a decent sweet to tang ratio. I would get this again but I would probably add some fresh basil or pesto if I had some. Meaty Marinara (3*) This has ground beef in it and is a little richer than the other tomato sauce. This has more sweetness to it which kinda threw me off as I don't make my tomato sauces sweet. I think more people may like this style more, but I prefer mine more tomato-y. Again no noticeable herb flavors like basil or oregano. Alfredo (3.5*) Pretty basic and not too thick. Any Americanized Alfredo fan should like this just fine. I'm actually gonna try and sub this out over the basic garlic butter for the Seafood Galore Pasta next time. Italian Sausage (4.5*) I like the Italian Sausage they use, good fennel flavor. Chicken Breast (4*) Nice chunks of lean chicken breast. Good choice if you want substantial protein and I like mixing this with broccoli and mushrooms. And vegetable add you throw into a bowl will be very light. Broccoli is the most noticeable but things like baby spinach and mushrooms, I can barely tell that it is there. There's no cost for these in the build-your-own so I kinda get it. It's $2 for each protein add, slightly more if you add seafood. Each bowl gets a piece of garlic bread that is pretty good. Well buttered on nice chewy bread. I've gotten extra a few times, as it actually holds up well. Some garlic breads are useless the next day, this one proves better. So this isn't special sit-down resto pasta, and I'm sure it isn't their goal. But for a weeknight meal where I don't want to cook and I can call this in while I'm at a grocery store running errands, this place is quite ideal. Convenience, filling value oriented meals, I'd say I'm lucky to have this as a local resource. read more

Simply Pasta is a welcome addition. In my years living in the area, I don't recall an Italian restaurant ever inhabiting the shopping area they are located in. My review is only for takeout, but the pasta dish was good. I asked for a penne with alfredo sauce, shrimp, and added sundried tomatoes. The shrimp weren't plentiful, but sufficient. And tbh, if it were just a plain penne alfredo, it would still be good because the sauce was tasty as a stand alone. I'm unsure if they make their own pasta or if it's sourced. It was al dente though, so it passed the test for me. Pricing is fair especially in today's rising costs and the portion was comparable. They include a piece of garlic bread with each dish. I've only been here twice and I like it a lot. Pasta is very tasty and reminds me of home. I forgot what I had the first time. The second time I came here, I had spaghetti with marinara sauce and meatballs. I love that they make it to order. I can taste a hint of sugar in their sauce, which makes it taste like home. I put a small amount in my sauce at home to balance out the acid from the tomatoes. Their meatballs taste homemade as well. They have such a nice, full, and balanced flavor. I was in the neighborhood and needed to grab some dinner on my way home and remembered I had saved this restaurant on my Yelp. So glad we went! The man and woman behind the counter were beyond nice, opening the door for me with my stroller. It was so nicely decorated for the Holidays that my daughter was in awe. Then they gave us a little bag of Christmas goodies for her, a letter to write to Santa and then she was even able to pick a squishie out from under the tree. So sweet and thoughtful! Am very happy that I came upon Simply Pasta another one of Union City's hidden gem just open last month located in a large plaza with a few surrounding business with ample parking. I was so blown away the owner Jason was simply amazing he's more of a people person and I felt very comfortable more at ease and the menu selection was easy to choose from like the idea of creating your own pasta dish: Step 1: Spaghetti pasta Step 2: Marinara sauce Step 3: Mushrooms Optional: Meatballs Comes with garlic bread For drink Italian lemon soda whipped cream with cherry on top price $5.95 (large size cup) one of the ice cubes has a fluorescent light bulb really cool check out video. I chose to dine-in rather than take out since I was the only customer and my meals were served with large portions no skimping back loved the rich marinara sauce with tenderize meatballs and mushrooms a la dente. I was very impressed with the service and highly recommend to my friends and co-workers so please support your local business only wish they had one in San Jose or Milpitas, but in the meantime wouldn't mind coming back to Union City since they do have great restaurants and cafes though Simply Pasta is on my top list of go to places. read more

Heard a few friends mention this new place. It actually took over the old subway so I was curious on how they transformed it. Honestly everything looks just like subway still besides the decorations. When you first walk in they greet you right away and ask if you're new and help you through the menu. All the staff were very nice and welcoming. We both decided to do the build your own pasta. Refer to pictures with what we ordered. Overall this place is a great place to come if you want your pasta fix but was hoping it would be similar to or the same as Olive Garden. They give you parmasean packets which is easy to take to go but I feel like some real parmesan grating on top could make it a lot better. Hopefully as they continue to stay open they will be able to spruce up some things to make the pasta a little more thicker. read more

I was starving and looking for a quick bite. A baja blast sounded great for the hot weather. But as I was parking, the word "pasta" flashed by me. The owners were SUPER nice. All positive vibes. Even chatted with the few of us who were waiting. They have a helpful menu. You can either choose a classic pasta (Alfredo, seafood, spag & mb...) or you can build your own with 4 diff types of pasta, numerous sauce options and add-ins. I only ordered the Chicken Alfredo and didn't even think about trying their Italian sodas and desserts. But that chicken Alfredo?! BEST I'VE HAD IN A WHILE. Chicken was juicy. Portion is good enough that it lasted me 2 meals. I'm a garlic lover and so is my dad and the first thing we noticed when I popped the lid was the creamy garlic aroma. Price is very reasonable. It's honestly a deal. Alfredo is $12.95 or $13.95 and I added extra sundries tomatoes. Left a tip. I paid $16. YOU WON'T FIND THAT PRICING AND THIS QUALITY ANYWHERE ELSE. This is dangerous. It's been a long time since I've found a good pasta place let alone for a reasonable price. I got myself a pesto fettuccine with chicken and sun dried tomatoes, and it is the most tender and juicy chicken breast I've had in a long time. Portion size is quite good. It's all build your own, but it's all made to order. It takes a few minutes but it's well worth it. The staff (Jason served me) is friendly as well. Highly recommend stopping by for a nice lunch. read more

Went here during their soft opening and I can't wait to come back to try their desserts! I got a carbonara with added mushrooms and *chefs kiss* everything was amazing! It's like a chipotle style where you choose the base, sauce, and any toppings you would like in your pasta. Their portions are very generous with some soft and garlicky cheese bread to go with it! Their Italian soda was so refreshing, I got mines with green apple and it def helped settle down all the food. Can't wait to be back to try their other creations! read more

Simply delicious! You can go with one of the favorites or make your own. I made my own Fettuccine Alfredo and added tomato, broccoli, and olives to the chicken and it was delicious! The service is awesome! Super friendly owners! My wife also made her own spaghetti with butter and garlic sauce and added bacon to the chicken! Large portions for the price. First off, I'd like to commend them on their customer service. Although ir was not busy. It's an important part of business. It shows its personality. Warm, comfortable, and genuinely friendly. Establishing a good relationship with the employees is always a good thing too. I felt like I've known them for a while. The ambiance is pretty chill. I can see myself dining I and talking to them. I ordered 2 things of pasta. One linguine chicken and shrimp Alfredo, and an all meat with sausage marinara rigatoni. Both exceptionally tasty dishes. I also ordered a bluebraspberry italian soda, and that was refeshing. I don't want to mention names, but it's way better than the other place in town. It's really hard to find pasta that is super tasty at an affordable price. The serving was actually pretty big. One serving can possibly feed 2 people depending on how much a person can eat. They don't skimp out on meat either. Everything is prepared right in front of you, too, which is a plus. They are a fairly new restaurant. If you haven't had it already, you need to go. It's worth it. If tomatino is too busy. I suggest you come to this place. Menu is simple. You can customize your pasta dish anyway you like. I will be returning soon. Simple and delicious! I came here because my better half and I were craving pasta. We didn't want to sit in a restaurant. Luckily, Yelp suggested this place. Customer service is amazing. They were very welcoming and informative with the menu. You can basically ask them to make anything you want. I'm not so adventurous so I just get the normal menu items. Food is excellent, portions and pricing are fair. We literally have no complaints! You must try their tarts. I try to limit my purchase at two, but I always end up getting 4. Overall my experience here has been amazing! They have integrity with your purchases and quality of food is above the norm. Try this place out! read more

AMAZING. Such a happy little find. This little restaurant is in the same plaza as Starbucks and kfc. You walk in to a simple menu, choose your own pasta or a list of a few premade options. The girl that helped me (long pony tail and long eyelashes) was extremely helpful and welcoming. I was asking questions between the garlic button and Alfredo. I ended up getting the fettuccine Alfredo with spinach and shrimp for 16 dollars and it was SOOOO GOOD. Portion is pretty big. I ate enough for lunch then had enough for a snack afterwards. It also came with a small piece of garlic bread. The pasta was perfectly Al dente, the sauce was good- not too heavy and gross like some alfredos can be, and perfectly seasoned. The shrimp were big and perfectly cooked. I'll definitely be coming back. Love this new place ! They're a family owned business too and the service was impeccable ! read more

I ordered takeout from this place and chose to build my own pasta dish. Although the interaction was brief, the employees there all seemed very friendly! I got fettuccine with their marinara sauce and added mushrooms, spinach, and sun dried tomatoes. The pasta was perfectly cooked to al dente, and the sauce was very flavorful. They also give you a large slice of garlic bread as a side to your pasta! It came out to $15, and I thought the portion size was definitely enough for two meals, so very worth. read more

Great place for a pasta craving! Love that you can create your own pasta. They cook it in front of you so you know its fresh. Delicious food and great portions. Great price for some great food. Family owned restaurant. Customer service is always great! The place is small, clean, and with few tables inside. Build your own pasta bowls to your liking. I have been here a few times and build my own bowls. AND They offer catering, which I ordered a week ago for a grad event. The pastas were delicious and a hit !! read more
