We went here for Valentine's Day and enjoyed the food, but it was obvious the restaurant overbooked compared to the number of available staff. The entire restaurant appeared to have 2 servers. The dinner took 2.25 hours. It was not easy to get the check. I had to go hunting for a server. The food was fairly good. The catfish and the filet dish were well seasoned and appropriately cooked. However, the catfish was a bit meager and the filet contained too many fatty/inedible pieces.

I love Simply Pasteur. Kim offers the friendliest service. The dining hall is spectacular and offers plenty of seating. I recommend you trying their Saigon crepe. The flavors are wonderful and well balanced.

Fantastic food, location, and service. Simply It is an excellent Vietnamese place with a very welcoming staff and clean interior. The food was delicious. Highlights of what we had include the Pho (classically good), coconut shrimp, and lemongrass chicken. All of it tasty and well priced. The boba teas are fantastic as well. Service was friendly and the owner is great. Convenient location in Lincoln Park. Check it out!

Visiting Chicago for the first time and craving some Vietnamese food after having some heavy meals and Simply It fit the bill! It's located in the lovely Lincoln Park neighborhood and we were seated right at the window on this gorgeous night and got to view the street activity as we ate. Our server was extremely sweet and explained a few different menu items that were new to us. We tried the following: Egg rolls-good Lemongrass beef spring rolls-great combination of flavors Seafood Rangoon-good Vietnamese ravioli (from their street food section) really delicious and something I had never tried before and glad I tried it! Chicken over Sticky rice (also in their street food section) I was not a fan as I didn't think it had much flavor but the husband liked it a lot! They also give you some free ice tea when you are seated. Sweet gesture! It seems like a great yummy local place and would come back if in the area!

After an hour boat ride at night, my friends wanted some hot noodle soup. We found this place to be closet to where we were at and still opened till 10pm. After 3 miles Uber ride, we walked into the store. They told us that they were closing early and we could take it to go. We were disappointed because it's inconvenient to take pho back to hotel. Also, it's a bit farther, the food might get cold. As we were discussing if we should go to another place, the owner saw us, and then he told his worker to open the dining room for us. We truly appreciated he stayed and served us as we had some hungry peeps in the group :p We got beef pho, beef ball pho, and shrimp hot and sour soup. We enjoyed the pho soup base. Will come back if we are in town again.

I really wanted to like this place. Like really. But all I can say is it was ok. It was highly recommended so I had to check it out since I was in the area. The restaurant ambiance was good. Service was great. But the food fell flat. Everything just seemed overcooked and did not have a lot of flavor. Perhaps it was an off day?

Experience: The girlfriend was in a mood for some kind of Asian cuisine, so as a result, we decided on Vietnamese food. With a party of 2, we were able to be seated fairly quickly. Note: This was during dinner time on the weekend. Staff was very friendly and professional. Ambiance is very casual and the restaurant does not appear to have any dress code. Parking: Being in Lincoln Park, it is going to be difficult to find parking, especially spots that are free. Is it possible though? Yes, you just have to be patient and drive around the surrounding small streets. Just be aware of Permit parking. Worth: The staff and the food make Simply It worth the visit. The food was good and it did not disappoint. We had fried shrimp and a chicken bahn mi (As pictured below). The amount food we received was just the right amount. I believe this place is BYOB as well, so that is definitely a plus.

Head one more stop after Argyle on the red line to the Bryn Mawr stop and you'll find Simply Pasteur, a Vietnamese restaurant that blends a modern fine dining type environment with standard Vietnamese classics. While the dining area is elegant, I think the food falls flat. It would take a lot to convince someone to take the extra trek to this restaurant when a cluster of Vietnamese restaurants on Argyle are a 15 minute walk away. The food prices are a couple dollars more expensive than your typical Vietnamese restaurant, with the flavor and volume of food not proportionally scaling with the price premium you pay. The broth doesn't taste as flavorful, they don't give you as many cuts of meat, and you have to specifically request chili sauce and hoisin rather than them having the entire bottle on the side for you. This place just doesn't match the likes of a more traditional Vietnamese restaurant like Pho 777

Good food and service. But I do honestly think that the portions are small for the price point and area.

After my drink next door, I would be remiss if I didn't stop in. What I got was one of the more unique and interesting cocktails I'd tried! It was the Sick Day, and while I don't command the English language or my palate enough to do it justice, I can tell you that it was definitely a great sipper. The absinthe mist, despite being just that, has a way of doing that. I want to give some credit to the service. While the bar was shorthanded at the time, the barman on duty did his very best as a one-man show. Can't fault them too much, someone calls out sick last minute, and that's that. However, if there is something I can hold against them it's the heat! I'm not sure why, but the upon coming in, the place was HOT! After settling in, it became more bearable, but this is the kind of thing that sometimes persuades me to leave before I order anything.

Walking into the host was friendly and sat us at our table. When we got there people were there for happy hours (4 p.m.- 6 p.m.). We started with drinks. I had the Sparkling Rose which was fruity and smooth. My boyfriend had Hive Mind (vodka, honey, lavender, rhubarb, and lemon) which my boyfriend loved. Mitch was our server. He was friendly and nice and our wait time was perfect. We ordered 3 small plates: Cheese Plate, Grilled Shrimp, and Tuna Tartare. They were all good. Grilled Shrimp and Tuna Tartare had enough spice for my boyfriend and me. The cheese plate was yummy too. 3 different types of cheese, with honey, jam, candied beets, and peppers. And for dessert we had Crème Brûlée made with soy milk custard, chocolate, black sesame, and strawberry. It was different in a good way. The restaurant has paintings hanging up, which remind me of someone living/library. Our table was very cozy. A nice and cool restaurant in Andersonville, for sure I will come back for happy hour.

After we sit down, waitress comes with paper menus and one of them is all wrinkled ( no attention to details here) but ok not a biggie. She then gives us a smaller menu with the "Special of the day" which was Branzino BUT she said to us that they only have one so if we want it we should tell her right away ( so two things here; one, we are the only ones in the place but two, how is this a special and you only have 1????) so this isn't a special, this is a leftover ... obviously that's not the route we were to take. Ok so we take a look the menu, ordered some drinks that were good and when she gets back we ordered the tuna tartare, but she says: we are sold out ( at this point there's only one more couple in the place- and remember we were the first ones ... what do you mean you sold out, you mean you didn't even buy/prep this dish for the day ... so we decided no appetizers then and went straight to the main course. So I went to the bathroom to wash my hands and the sink is clogged ( I have phobia to clogged sinks, they are disgusting) but whatever. Food came after 40 minutes ( do I have to remind you we were the first ones and only one more table was filled at that point ?) Fries however were delicious and my husband and I said that would be the only reason for us to come back. Fries with truffle and mayo ..

The dinner menu was quite different from the all-day menu; in particular there were more sides and entrees. I ordered the mixed grill for one ($36) with smoked lamb. The cut was lamb shoulder. Came with five thinly sliced pieces. I saw some reviews complaining that their lamb was too fatty. For lamb shoulder, however, I think the amount of fat was acceptable. But I wish there could be more meat. The meat was served over bejeweled rice. Basically it was an aromatic, turmeric & saffron spiced rice with dates, cashews and a tiny bit barberry (only found two). I wish there could be more barberry and fewer dates, because now it was purely sweet. This, together with the oil in the rice and my fatty lamb, made the dish a bit greasy. On the side I got some grilled long hots, grilled tomatoes, pickled cucumbers and tomatoes, ezme, zoug, tahini, and some freshly baked pita. The pita was soft, moist, chewy and paired well with everything else. I wish they could check if the pita was burnt, though -- one of my pita was burnt! Service was OK. Food came out quickly. It was chill to sit at the patio in a late summer, but they should put more lights. Indeed for half of my meal I had to use the flashlight on my phone for lighting lol.

There is outdoor seating under a pergola lined with semi-private planters, while the inside features a bar, high tops, low tops, and large booths. The music was upbeat, giving the space an elevated lounge vibe that pairs really well with the upholstered booths and vintage industrial design. I ordered the Wolf Burger, which is a whopping three-patty burger. That first bite was juicy and pure bliss--a total explosion of great flavors. It was a little messy (like all burgers with an egg), but the extra liquid was perfect for balancing the density of such a meaty burger. The soft bun soaked in a lot of those juices with each bite, intensifying the flavor as I ate more. The fries were thin and on the greasier side--not my personal favorite, but they worked alright as a vehicle for the sauce. Speaking of which, the chili aioli served with the fries was fantastic. We also got the mac and cheese, which hit a great balance between rich and creamy without feeling excessively wet. The boat it came in was a bit small, making it a little messy to scoop out with the serving spoon, but it was soooo good. Overall, it is absolutely a fantastic neighborhood place for comfort food and drinks with friends in a great space!
