I echo the sentiments of many of the previous reviews...glad to have a salad place instead of coffee, lots of options, they have a phone app. Honestly, I think this place would work well as a ghost kitchen because it DOES take a long time if you just "show up" in person and place an order to eat there. It's geared towards mobile orders, I think. I walked in, did not see a menu board. It is a small, printed menu handed to you. You make choices, then it's not made in front of you (a la Chipotle). You go to the other end and wait. And wait, while mobile orders come in and are being picked up. Also no signage there, so people have to ask about mobile orders, and then be directed to talk to someone to get their order. Staff are pleasant enough, but you get the feeling they not are really there to interact with customers, more like to fill orders. Fountain Drink options pretty minimal or just grab and go in the refrigerated case. I would return, but probably only to pick up a mobile order. read more

This place is pretty good! If you're in the mood for something light and need to still be full and not hungry try it! I came here for the first time even though I live local and always passed it up. Like others said it's a bit pricey for a salad but again for the portion size you get it's pretty fair. I dont know if I would come everyday but I can see myself coming every few weeks to try out their menu. The service is amazing too. I got a Caesar salad and forgot to add chicken and came back and they threw it in for free. That's how you get customers to come back! read more

Interesting new way of ordering food for me. You can't simply walk in, look at the menu, order, and walk out. It's not that simple. There is no large menu on the wall like most other places, you have to wait to be handed a menu by one of the staff. Then, if you've never been here before, it's a little time consuming to create your salad configuration or order their pre-designed salads. Finally, you have to wait a little longer than other restaurants with this kind of layout. You'd think they'd be incredibly efficient and fast with your order, but I waited 10 minutes or so and it wasn't even that crowded inside. So my conclusion is that the food is very fresh, the staff are friendly, and the prices are reasonable for the quality of ingredients. However, you are encouraged to order ahead of time on their app/website, which is cool if you're savvy and have planned to eat here in advanced. But if you randomly show up and want a quick lunch, not so fast. Might also be hard to order without a smartphone, but maybe that's the future of restaurants and Simply Salad is simply ahead of its time. read more

First of all, this is on Artesia and Western Ave. NE corner (next to In-n-Out) at the old Starbucks if you remember. It's right next to chipotle and Jersey Mikes. Anyways, i like it because we just didn't have a salad place in Gardena. What can you get here? Well salads of course duh lol. j/k they have signature salads like ceasar, chinatown, el paso, hipster, shogun, cobb, steak out, buff, thai, el jefe and the cue. You can sort of guess, yes the chinatown is like a chinese chicken salad, the shogun is a seared ahi tuna salad, buff is a buffalo chicken, and so on. These salads range from 8ish dollars to 14ish dollars, and all these can be made into wraps from 7.50ish to 13.50ish. The salad bowl is actually a good size, i'd say you can almost split it with 2 or 3 people. I got the El Paso which is romaine, grilled chicken, kidney beans, tortilla strips, grilled corn, pepper jack, grape tomatoes, and avocado. i like how they use the choppers to chop the salad all small. I got the spicy chipotle dressing, maybe because i passed chipotle on the way here it sounded delicious lol. But like the guy behind the counter said, there is a kick to the sauce. I did only get a med amount of dressing, because i dont like to oversaturate my salads, but even so, i felt the chipotle dressing should be a little creamier, like a ranch chipotle or something. It was lacking something, although it did have heat, and i like that it did pack some heat but wish it had just a tad more flavor. Like the salad needed more cheese, or a little richness from something, like more avocado. I think the avocado wasn't too ripe yet, as i didn't taste too much richness from the avocados either. Butttttt, with that said, you don't have to get the El Paso, just come in and make your own salad. You can pick from romaine, salad mix, baby spinach, kale, arugula, and add from almost any kind of salad topping you can think of +.50 each like beets, corn, apples, jicama, sauteed mushrooms to name a few, they have premium toppings for 1-1.50 each like quinoa, dried cranberries, hummus, candied walnuts, and more. Meats are 2.95 for various chickens like curry chicken, pesto chicken, bbq chicken, steak, turkey breast, and seafoods like seared tuna, salmon and shrimp, and various cheeses from .50 to 1.75, and of course so many types of dressings to choose from so you can definitely make a salad of your liking if you dont see a signature salad to your liking. They had iced tea and lemonades reasonably priced at 2.50 for a tall cup and other can drinks and flavored waters. they do have a soup of the day and today was shrimp and corn chowder? I think something like that. And come on, after picking all these healthy things for my salad i get to the register and what do they have. Some baked cookies lol. Of course i had to try the cloud 9 with semi sweet chocolate chips for 2.95. I am so thrilled that a Simply Salad (SS) location has opened up in Gardena. I love this restaurant and I had been traveling a long way to the Ladera Heights location to get the fresh, healthy offerings. Now I can visit Simply Salad more often because it's closer to where I live and work. My favorite menu item is the "Build Your Own" salads and wraps. I love the freedom of choosing my own greens, toppings, dressings, and extras, depending on my mood. SS has 5 different types of greens to choose from, as well as so many different types of toppings (approx. 65 across simple and premium choices; meats, seafood; cheeses), and 25+ dressings, including some fat-free options. All the salads also come with a wedge of pita bread. If you cannot find something you like on the menu, you're not trying! Once you decide what you'd like, the friendly counter staff gets right to work on making your order in front of you using fresh ingredients on display. It all goes very fast and before you know it, you're eating your delicious, hand-made meal. SS also offers Signature salads, homemade soups, bottled and freshly made drinks, plus kettle chips, cookies, and pita chips & hummus. Do yourself a favor and come to the new Gardena Simply Salad. The restaurant is clean and the staff is nice and welcoming. It's located in the corner unit of the outbuilding by Albertson's and In-N-Out Burger, right at the intersection of Artesia and Western. The staff is super friendly and welcoming, the space is clean, and there are both indoor and outdoor seating options. I went with my mom and she made her own salad and I went with a classic caesar. I used to eat at the downtown location every weekday for over a year before Covid. I was super excited for simply salad to make its way to the South Bay. This location just isn't as efficient or as good as the downtown location was. If the online ordering works at all (it's super glitchy and I have to go between their website and Yelp for a chance) the food is never ready at the estimated time, despite having ordered over 40 minutes in advance. If you order in the store, expect to wait a long time as well. The downtown location was much busier and I never had issues with having to wait over 30 minutes for my order to be prepared. The salads and wraps themselves are tasty but again, not as well prepared as the downtown location. Not sure if it's a post Covid thing where they've trimmed down on menu items and also if they've changed how well the salads should be chopped but, I think this is still a good salad spot. Also great is that there's plenty of parking and yogurtland is next door. read more

Even customers who ordered ahead still had to wait once they got there. I walked in and no one was in line. After I ordered, it started to get crowded with people waiting for pre-orders and in-store orders. It was almost 30 mins for a salad?! Starbucks didn't make it in this space. I ordered the Cue salad with added salad mix, romaine, baby spinach and alfalfa sprouts with dressing on the side($13.25) and a side of hummus with pita chips ($4). Total came to $17.25. The salad was so good and everything was fresh. the hummus was also good but I prefer spicy so I added some Sabal Oelek to spice it up.
