We have ordered from the Gardena location 3 times. The first time the salads were very tasty but they did not do any of the custom things I ordered even though we paid for them. So we thought we would give it another try. The second time we got our orders and they were correct but the salad was a bit mushy and not as good as the first time. Tonight we gave it one more chance. My salad came with No dressing even though I ordered 2 extra dressings. I added several things to my "Hipster" salad and I got most of them but the main things in the Hipster salad were omitted. So again I paid extra and got a salad that isn't what I ordered with NO salad dressing. It's always the customers fault, their system is down, they lost the orders, it's not ready, always understaffed and simply no consideration for their customers on a time crunch. You'd think if you're gonna overpay for a salad at least they have good customer service but no. Then you have the cashier smirking and shaking his head as you voice your concern for an order that was placed online and had a pick up time that was past 15 min and you're on a 30 minute lunch. I was so excited when I found out they have a location by my moms house because we love this place I use to drive all the way downtown to get us salads while this place is new they are very much programmed to just toss it i a bowl and keep it moving first time I went here I always order my salads the same exact way at each location croutons on the side which is not a big deal to think but been here twice just for the same thing to happened twice croutons in my salad so this time and last time they just basically tossed my lettuce in the bowl un chopped and didn't add my extra shrimp that I paid for I wouldn't mind if I was eating it at that exact moment but I live 45 min away from this place to get home to soggy food and I don't like soggy anything. The salads are pretty fresh, tons of options but the experience is not worth it. You can go up the street to another salad place with great customer service. This is the second time I have come and the people working just seem to not want to be there or as though anyone's presence bothers them. There are three people working there and it was not crowded at all but so slow. This time I ordered ahead and still not ready. Great place! The customer service is awesome! I went in for some chicken noodle soup and at check out Tony (super friendly) asked if I had tried the other soup. The other soup was Mexican albondiga and I said no. He gave me a free taste sample and it was DELICIOUS!!! The albondiga soup is different from other ones I had because the meatballs are smaller so you can get a good amount of meat in each bite! I think I found my new favorite soup! There are 6 huge chunks of chicken that are more than an inch in width and they have no buffalo sauce on them, the pieces of lettuce are so big, i don't even think they chopped it once. I used to frequent Simply salad near my work in downtown Los Angeles, so I was super excited to see that the closest one to my home is in Gardena! Just as I was about to order I had to take an important phone call and waited in the lobby before I could place my order. My first impression of the restaurant is that the food looked super fresh! As I was waiting on my work call to wrap up, I noticed an associate was wearing gloves to sweep, touch the register, refill the food, and wipe the countertops with a stained/dirty rag. With the EXACT same gloves she cut avocado's and dug her hand fist first into the Lettuce used for consumption, before washing her hands and changing her gloves. I IMMEDIATELY walked out! As I was leaving I saw the owner of the establishment Cameron, advised him of this and he stated that it wasn't a big deal that she touched a cleaning rag and bare lettuce because it's "antibacterial". There was no apology, no offer to coach his staff on safe kitchen practices, just sarcasm. I'm sure the health inspector would love to know that customers are consuming chemicals and bacteria in their food Cameron. When I said I was leaving he simply shrugged and said "okay" and the employee next to him snickered at me in my face. I wasn't even rude or disrespectful. He made me feel humiliated and embarrassed to approach him. Owners need to understand it takes a lot of courage for customers to speak up and express what's going on. It's not always easy. A customer pointed to the other end of the Subway style counter where I found a paper menu. There are some suggested salads/ wraps as well as build your own options. I went with build your own. An employee with a clipboard asked what I wanted to order. No, "Hi" or, "Welcome", or, "Have you been here before? ", just, "What dio you want to order? ". I asked what the Simply Salad lettuce mix was, and he said, "Actually, I don't know". I waited a couple of seconds and asked id there was someone we could ask. I got a mumbled response from someone behind the counter who didn't seem to be happy to be there. None of the employees did, for that matter.
