    Bature Veg Kheema Masala
    Reynu S.

My partner has enjoyed the lunch thali and convinced us to give this place a shot. The menu's selection impressed my parents. The bhature veg kheema masala's presentation was nice, with the large bulbous bhatura. This vegetarian kheema uses soy granules. It was nice to try but it was quite salty, even for my mom who will consume an ocean worth on a normal day, so I wouldn't try it here again. But I'd get the bhatura with something else. The benne masala dosa was interesting to try. I had it at Bharat Bhavan and its two smaller, well fermented dosas. Comparatively this one is bigger, softer, thicker, less fermented flavor. I prefer the one from Bharat Bhavan but I don't regret trying it. The potato masala was super fluffy and well seasoned without being too salty - if I were to go back I'd get something else with the potato masala. The chai was warm, mellow, cardamom dominant. I liked it. It was a good balance to the heavy meal. A couple notes - I see reviews complaining about heavy use of oil in the food. It is indulgent, heavy, often deep fried or heavily buttered (with ghee). Totally valid! However, going here will be the Indian vegetarian equivalent of eating a big, heavy brunch and needing to go into hibernation to recover. I had to drink tons of water, take a walk and a long nap to recover. So I recommend keeping your schedule open. As for cleanliness, I didn't walk around much, so cannot attest to trash, bathroom quality, etc. - the staff seems incredibly busy, so they deserve grace if the toilet was clogged once but I'd be upset if I told someone and no one fixed it within a reasonable amount of time. Our table was clean enough. The utensils and napkins are in a holder on the side of the table so I used a napkin and water to clean my spoon and fork before using. All in all, will I go back? Maybe if I'm in the area. But I don't know that it was special enough to drive for. My rating is a 3.5, which rounds up to 4.

    Lunch Thali

We've dined here a few times now and they operate very efficiently and the waitlist process is very organized. Be aware though that the wait times can get pretty long during peak lunch hours so I would suggest you go early (they have limited resys for lunch time). The food menu is huge and per the manager they've taken inspiration from various parts of south India and put it together and while they also have a North Indian section, you go here for what the name says "South". Dosas are excellent, the thali is very creative and the chutneys are so fun. Staff is polite and always on point. Keep up the great work team!

Great for vegetarian Indian food. Quality is good and so is the taste. It gets busy over weekends. Good ambience overall

If you want to feel a family atmosphere with healthy authentic Indian food, this is your place! I enjoyed the Ghee Cashew Khara Ven Pongal and Masala Dosa. It's simply delicious and comforting. Usha was our server, and she was great!

This is their legendary chutney stand which is served on each table no matter what they order

Hema was an awesome server. She took care of what we ordered. She was knowledgeable of the menu and guided us. While in Ashley furniture store, our sales agent recommended Simply South. We decided to give it a try. The restaurant was packed as it was Saturday evening. We got a table assigned in few mins. We ordered Thali and Benne Dosa. The thali came in quick time. My wife and I shared the thali as we were not aware that thali cannot be shared. Hema and other saw that but did not stop us at any time. About the thali, each and every item in thali was made to precision. Mango Dal, Drumstick tomato curry were very tasty. Palak paneer sabji was too good. Veg haleem was the first time I had in my life. Sweets were amazing; prasadam was divine. This place is a food lovers heaven. Never had such good food. There was no space in stomach for Benne Dosa. All the chutneys were very good. We could not stop ourselves the next day and ended up back to same place. We ordered Veg Kheema Dosa and Jack fruit fry biryani. Again the veg kheema was superb. It had the smoky flavor to it. there was lot of kheema in each bite. But the star of 2 days has to be their Jackfruit fry biryani. I can write one page worth of things on this biryani. Never in my life I had such an amazing tasting biryani. The flavors were so well balanced. Abundant jackfruit bites were there; almost in each bite. Jackfruit was so well cooked. The base of jackfruit had nice balanced flavor of coconut in it. The rice was perfectly cooked. Monika was our server and she was very good. She answered lot of our questions. Loved the brass look cutlery. This is a food paradise for people who have turned vegetarian after being non-veg eater for most of their life. One will never ever miss eating non-veg food. Loved the concept of this chain. Forever FAN of this chain. Would love to meet all the owners and would love to kiss the hand of the chef who made the biryani. Must visit place for people visiting Dallas. Should be in Michelin guide; not sure why they are missing from it. Rightly in the top 50 restaurants in the nation.

The customer service was unwelcoming and cold! I wanted to buy a chai latte but I guess that wasn't enough business for them.

Since moving back from the northeast, we've been looking for good momos that we don't have to trek to Irving for. Thankfully we've found a delicious option!! Chili momo was nice and flavorful without being too spicy. Loved the fried momo with the chicken filling. Johl momo was the least favorite, bc it was just served in a bowl of the same sauce that was served with everything else. Steamed momo is always classic, and the veggie filling was great. Also got some basic palak paneer and butter chicken with rice and garlic naan, and all delicious which made awesome leftovers. Can't wait to come back up here! def work the drive up the tollway. Service was also super nice and attentive despite only two workers in the front, and the interior is decorated nice and there was an obvious commitment to keep the restaurant clean.

I've never seen so many brown people in my life in Dallas so you know it's legit. The wait was clearly an indicator of the popularity of this place and I could not believe how it went on and on inside. I should've counted how many people were working! The little chips were fun to munch on and I admit that I definitely had fun putting them on my fingers. I thought this was going to be healthy but no- the oil and the butter was insane. Between the roti and the crepe thing and all of the dipping sauces, just delicious. Will absolutely come back! Last thing, be careful as the floor is a bit slippery.

A place that promises a mix of South Indian classics along with Indo-Chinese favorites always piques my curiosity. So we decided to stop by and give it a try. Located in Frisco, Texas it is fairly easy to find. Parking was also manageable, which is always a plus. The place has a casual and welcoming vibe, nothing overly fancy, but comfortable and inviting. Even on a Tuesday, the place was packed. Fortunately, we had called and reserved a place. The décor leans toward a traditional Indian restaurant feel with a simple setup that keeps the focus on the food. We were soon seated and provided with Fryums, which we finished within a minute. The server wad happy to answer questions about the menu. We decided to explore a variety of items from different sections of the menu and the food came out at a reasonable pace. We ordered: 1 Mushroom ghee roast 1 Baby corn manchurian 1 Onion chilli uttapam 1 Benne dosa 1 Chole bhature 1 Set dosa with salna 1 Jackfruit biryani The 'Mushroom ghee roast', was truly excellent with great flavors. The mushrooms were nicely coated in the rich, spicy ghee roast masala, delivering that bold South Indian punch. Next came the 'Baby corn Manchurian',, a classic Indo-Chinese favorite. The baby corn had a good crunch and the sauce had that familiar tangy-spicy flavor you associate with hakka cuisine. For the dosa section, we tried the 'benne dosa', which had a nice buttery flavor and crisp texture- simple yet satisfying. The 'Set dosa with Salna' was soft and fluffy, and the salna added a nice aromatic gravy element to the dish. The 'Onion chilli uttapam' was thick, soft, and generously topped with brown onions, making it a comforting bite. All the above South Indian dishes were great but what blew us away was the 3 chutneys: Tamarind, Spicy Tomato Chilli and Green Peanut. They were absolutely delicious and took the food to another level. The Sambhar however was decent but not that great. Moving to the North Indian side, the 'Chole bhature' came with fluffy bhature and well-spiced chole. We absolutely loved the depth of flavor. Finally, the 'Jackfruit biryani' was an interesting and enjoyable dish. The jackfruit worked surprisingly well as a meat substitute, absorbing the biryani spices nicely and adding a unique texture. However, some of us found it to be bit more on the tangy side. To Foodies: If you enjoy exploring a wide range of Indian flavors, from South Indian breakfast classics to Indo-Chinese appetizers and hearty North Indian dishes, this place is worth checking out. The menu offers variety, and it's a good spot if you want to try multiple styles of Indian cuisine in one sitting. To Management: You have a solid and diverse menu that covers many Indian favorites. Continuing to maintain consistency in flavor and presentation will go a long way. A few standout dishes highlighted on the menu or recommendations from staff could also help first-time visitors navigate the wide selection. Overall Rating: 8.4 / 10 Signing off: Rahul V.S. aka CanIndian Foodie

If you really know Indian food, you know there are levels to this. Most places serve what I lovingly call Campbell's Soup Tikka Masala. Super sweet, neon red, one note, wrong color, wrong consistency. Basically tomato soup with sugar and turmeric pretending to be a masala. It fills you up, but it doesn't make you pause and savor anything. Spice Grove Indian Cuisine is not that place. This is the real deal. The flavors are layered, balanced, and clearly cooked with intention. Not overly sweet, not dumbed down, just full of garlic, spice, depth, and that unmistakable "this was done right" feeling you get when Indian food is executed properly. We ordered a spread, saag, tikka masala, butter chicken, korma, vindaloo, garlic naan, and honestly there wasn't a weak dish on the table. Everything had the right color, the right texture, and the right punch of flavor. This is food you slow down for. I won't say this is the single best Indian food I've ever had, I reserve that for a few heavy hitters like Dishoom and Brigadiers in London and Chola in New York City. But if those are 10s, this is a very solid 8.5, and that is high praise. They're busy for a reason. You cannot go wrong here. If you love Indian food, or want to understand why people love Indian food, just go. You'll leave happy and probably already planning your next visit.
