The food was good but slightly overpriced. For a mediterranean place portions were small. Most places I have visited you get pita on the side, hummus etc. Another thing they are kind of stingy with the sauces too. Customer service was good the guy running the register is very personable. I can say I enjoyed my meal but the only thing that takes away from it is that their portions are fairly small since they try to fit everything in one basket. To be honest I prefer the hummus at holy land café, but I like the atmosphere, the attitude of the servers, and the larger variety of menu items at this location. Basically I think both places are top notch. I don't know why it seems like good Mediterranean food always has to come in a location with a horrible parking lot but that's also true here and over at holy land café. Oh well. But do expect to deal with potholes, a tight parking situation, particularly if the other surrounding businesses are open. Otherwise I have no complaints. Sinbad's is pretty much awesome. read more

I love me a gyro sandwich! I was craving on during a late lunch run and heard about a small establishment that had amazing gyros. I was able to order it online and pick it up in no time. The staff were pleasant and welcoming. My gyro did not disappoint as it was filled with deliciousness! The seasoning were on point, veggies cooked to my liking g and the sauce...the sauce was amazing. My only disappointment (which was partly my own fault) is the picture ordering displayed a plate with sand which and fries and I was ready for that but later realized fries were separate. The owner is incredibly caring about his business and always does his best to make sure the customer is beyond thrilled with the experience (incredible food and customer experience - and VERY fast (but not fast food)) this restaurant provides. VERY pleased with this new restaurant! The food was exceptionally delicious! We ordered a gyro sandwich, a spicy gyro plate, and a chicken shawarma plate, all of which were SO good! Sammy, the owner, is from Palestine and his staff is also from the Middle East, so they know what they are doing when it comes to this menu. It's in a strip mall next to a salon. The location was very easy to find. I called and ordered ahead because I was on my lunch break at work. I looked at the menu on yelp and ended up ordering the chicken shawarma platter. The platter included a healthy amount of well seasoned rice. The rice also had little peas and carrots in it. The platter also came with a small salad. The salad had fresh lettuce, crumbled feta, a couple olives and a tomato. The salad was dressed with a light Greek vinaigrette. Now on to the best part...the chicken. It was very tender and well seasoned. I like my meat a little spicy so I dripped a little hot sauce on it so that's what you see in the picture. The platter also comes with a sauce. If you don't specify what you want they will give you tzatziki. The tzatziki was very fresh. I enjoyed the little pieces of cucumber and the dill flavor. It paired amazingly with the chicken. This meal was only $9 and it was enough for two sittings. I will definitely try this again...maybe next time a sandwich. read more

Coming from New York and Chicago, I've been on the hunt for something that, honestly, even hit my minimum standards in the Greek/Med/Halal universe. I've tried J Cafe, both spots on 135th and metcalf, whatever the heck Pita Blu actually is, etc. etc. and was always disappointed. When my best option was Hen House or Mr. Gyro, that says a lot. So when Sinbad's opened up, I drove quite out of may way for a mid-week lunch. Had the gyro platter and the hummus. The platter was better than anything I've had in KC - though I'd still say it isn't on the level of the better places around the world I've tried. But at the price and the fact that nothing else around here comes close, you can't help but love it. Now the hummus. Like rich delicious clouds of awesomeness. Up until now, the only excellent hummus I'd had in town was what I made at home - but Sinbad's crushes even my homemade hummus. I'd put it up there with anywhere else in the US. And the pita, while not mind blowing, was darn good too. The atmosphere is fine - I see this more of a pick up and carry out spot. But the owner (at least I think it was the owner) was fantastic. Very obvious he loves to feed people and treated everyone who entered like they were family. I experience that a lot in KC, but it is always tinged with a bit of fakeness if that makes sense. But here, it seemed as authentic as they get. Seriously - if you are in the area, try this place out. Maybe it goes downhill (just opened recently) or gets too crowded for its small location.
