I was having some issues with my Kenmore sewing machine and called Singer Sewing Company to see if they could help. I took it in on a Saturday afternoon at about 3:15 and was warmly welcomed. When I asked about how long service might take (expecting it to be a 1-2 week turnaround) they said they offer one day service. And they were true to their word. I had my machine back by 4:30 and it is sewing like a dream! They opened it up, clean and oiled everything, and reset the timing. I love this place. The lady and her husband run it and they do great work. I have 4 sewing machines that I've inherited from grandmothers and great aunts. Unfortunately, one was lost in Harvey, but they've taken care of my other machines multiple times. I bring them in regularly for tuneups and whenever I have any questions, she is always helpful and taught me how to thread one of the machines when I couldn't figure it out. They did flood during Harvey, but we're open and helping out when they could. I will forever come here for my machines. read more

I had absolutely no idea that this place existed until my sewing machine started acting up but I'm sure glad I found it! The woman who runs it has been the owner for 30-40 years, if I remember correctly. Boy, she sure is knowledgeable! I've been sewing for over 12 years now but I had no idea that sewing machines need to be serviced once a year. They've got oil in them to help them run smoothly and when it gets or - or worse, dries up - it can cause lots of issues. I inherited my sewing machine from my grandma back in 2014 though she hadn't used it herself since 2010 or so, therefore it hadn't been serviced in over 8 years. Thankfully she was able to restore it back to normal! It actually runs even better than before! And her prices are very reasonable, which is awesome. The woman informed me that I have an amazing machine and not to get rid of it - turns out my Singer is from 1999 and one of the last models made with metal. Nowadays they're all made almost completely of plastic which doesn't last long and causes them to break fast, resulting in purchasing new ones each time this occurs. I find that absolutely ridiculous. She told me that she's advised others who have machines like mine not to trade it in or sell it and almost no one listens to her. She's had this shop for nearly FORTY YEARS, y'all. I think she knows what she's talking about! Anyways, if you need repairs or your yearly routine maintenance taken care of, I highly recommend you come here and take every piece of advice she gives you. I went to Singer to have my feed dog on my sewing machine replaced, and I got so much more than that. My machine is only a couple of years old, so I didn't think it was anything more than just the feed dog was out of whack. Come to find out, when I broke a needle it threw off my hook timing and broke a piece in the body of the machine (which I was unaware of). For a minimal feel (less than the cost of a new machine), they overhauled the whole machine, oiled it, timed it, repaired the broken part and advised me to call and get a backup piece because it is covered by my warranty and would otherwise cost me $150 (out of warranty). What's great is that they have SAME DAY turnaround! I brought my machine to them on my lunch break, and it was ready and waiting at 5pm. Unbelievable service! Aside from repairs, they also have a variety of sewing supplies, bobbins, needles, threads, you name it. They also have refurbished and new sewing machines for sale. read more

SPEND YOUR MONEY SOMEWHERE ELSE! LIMITED SELECTIONS. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. If I could give this place a ZERO rating, I would. After checking the website and reading the reviews, I was excited about visiting this store and purchasing at least one accessory for my machine. This store is small, dark, had a very limited selection of items and everything seemed really old. There seemed to be nothing in the store that is on the website. Even so, I found one accessory that I thought would work for my machine. I spoke with the owner about the accessory I was purchasing and then attempted to ask about another accessory I needed. I use the word attempted because the owner was very rude and cut me off mid-sentence, explaining she could only talk about one thing at a time (I was the only customer in the store). Her rude behavior should have been my 1st clue that she was not interested in selling to me. I then to proceeded to the counter to pay for the accessory. While doing so, I checked the price of the accessory which was written on the back of the packaging and noticed it was almost three times the online price. I commented that I checked for the item online and it was a lot less. I did not say I wasn't purchasing the item in my hand, nor did I attempt to ask for any kind of discount, as I am aware that online prices are usually less than in-store prices. I was simply commenting on the price difference. The owner then said, "THEN YOU SHOULD BUY FROM THEM" At that point it was crystal clear that she was not interested in my business. I could have been as rude to her as she was to me, but I let my actions speak for me and left the store without making a purchase. Yes, I wasted my time and gas, but what is most disturbing to me is that she used the word THEM as though she is not affiliated with Singer Sewing Company, even though the sign above her retail space says SINGER. Is this how SINGER wants to be represented? I doubt it! read more
