I was pleasantly surprised with the food, service at order was good as well. The ambiance inside is typical for small establishment. The backlava was freshly made and tasted sweet but not overpowering. I see a lot of people that order take out so don't be fooled by the apperance of empty tables. I'm a fan of Mediterranean food and I tried this place a few years ago, but found it to be just OK. Knowing it was under management, I gave it another try tonight. Honestly, this is the worst chicken Shawarma I've ever had in my life. I can't even make sense of it. My meal consisted of thin, dry slices of extremely overcooked chicken that doesn't taste like any shawarma I've ever had. The pita is also dried out. Honestly, very nice people and a great restaurant but if I want to be fair, it is notable that the food isn't anything amazing and what really tanks the review is how expensive it is for the amount of food you get. Loved the beef shawarma! I've been wanting to try this place for a while and am glad I finally did. Their beef shawarma is delicious! The taste and flavor profile is unique, unlike other beef shawarmas I've had before. Also a good portion, not too much food, perfect for a light meal or big snack. The husband got the chicken shawarma plate, which also tasted delicious. I do wish they hadn't put the meat on top of the bread as it made the bread soggy and a bit oily, but not a huge turn issue. The shawarma smelled off. It was cooked fine, but didn't smell fresh. Falafel was not like what was pictured and was extremely dry and flavorless. Pita was just 2 shawarma bread pieces rolled up. My family ordered a lamb shank plate, a beef shawarma plate and a falafel plate. The lamb was burnt but still undercooked, the rice was dry, and the garlic sauce tasted like they just added garlic to mayonnaise. Food: Chicken Kabob Wrap The menu has everything from kabobs, to wraps, and even quesadillas. I went with the chicken wrap that comes with pickles, garlic sauce, chicken, and pomegranate sauce. I thought about getting the pomegranate sauce on the side, but to be honest, I don't know if there was even any inside of it. The wrap itself is handmade, and very thin. Imagine like a very thin tortilla that holds everything together. The chicken itself was pretty dry. It is chicken breast which is good, but its on a spit going around and around being heated up. The toum (garlic sauce) was not too garlicky, but add a nice flavor to the wrap. Overall it was like a 3/5 imo. Restaurant: Out front, the sign for the old restaurant is still up making it all a little confusing when trying to find the location. We ended up parking in the lot behind the restaurant which made for easy access to the restaurant. Inside the restaurant the AC must of been busted as it was very hot and stuffy inside. Notes: Would I come back? If someone wanted to try it I would not be opposed. Perhaps if the all the kinks of being a newer restaurant get worked out it will be worth stopping by again. I was full but I finished the plate which I usually just leave the food behind if I'm full. The salmon wasn't fishy, the garlic wasn't stinky, and every thing had a different flavor that was not too salty or overly seasoned or under seasoned. I've never made a review but this was so good. Also the owner was super kind and welcoming. We were warmly welcomed and the food was made with so much Love honestly I want to gatekeep this place but I need to make sure it stays in business so I can keep going back. I was sad because I came in for beef shawarma but it was all sold out, he was making more when I went in, so its good to know the food is moving. The hummus has the right flavor, the garlic sauce is creamy and delicious, even the salad is yummy with the green olives and feta cheese in it. I stopped by her with my SO after going on a long hike at nearby Turnbull Canyon in Puente Hills. We were starving and didn't really know what to eat, so we drove around Uptown Whittier, saw this little Mediterranean place and decided to give it a try! We walked in and immediately were greeted by the two gentlemen behind the counter. This is off topic but they were wearing some really cool hats lol. The guy at the register, Cruz, was awesome. He gave us so much pointers when it came to what food to order and things like that. He let us know what is most popular and what dishes taste best or are more bang for your buck. Eventually, we ordered the Chicken Shawarma Plate, a safe option to go with in a Mediterranean restaurant. It came with rice, meat, two sides and pita bread. We got the spicy hummus and potato salad for our sides which both tasted great! The potato salad was packed with a lot of flavor and wasn't insanely creamy. It had some really lovely texture and was probably the highlight of the plate. The spicy hummus, although it wasn't spicy, had an interesting flavor when mixed with the chicken and pita bread. I will say, the only thing that didn't sell me was the rice, which i found to be very grainy. We were lucky we had pita bread, because i was able to put the chicken in the bread and make a kind of sandwich. Overall, If i am in the area, i might just drop by here again, but I cannot say that I would go out of my way to drive all the way to Whittier to eat here.
