Service needs serious improvement. I've had lunch delivered to me while at work several times, and while I certainly appreciate the free delivery, I always get a kind of "I'm doing you a favor" tone and attitude. I have always tipped the driver very well, even if ordering a small meal, and I have given them a lot of business. I don't think they understand that I would pay for delivery because their food is that good. So good that they still get 5 stars from me and I continue to go back. I've just opted to pay for delivery through Postmates because ordering through them directly is pretty much terrible and they are rude every single time. read more

Sirens' is being rated as a small-city sandwich shop, because that is what it is. Located in the historic business district, Sirens' is a small store front with occasionally wobbly tables and serviceable but not fancy chairs. The walls are full of casual artwork featuring mermaids and sirens. The bathrooms are clean (important) and the toilets have mermaid toilet handles (not so important). Anyhow, who cares about all of this -- What is the food like? The menu consists of about a dozen sandwiches, mainly deli, available cold or panini style. Our experience was that they are moderate in size, built with quality ingredients, and very tasty. I recommend going with the panini style. The lemon pasta side dish is excellent. The soup of the day (chicken chowder) was delicious. It looks like they don't try to do too much, but they do what they do well. For Kingman, this is as good as it gets. read more

This is a very friendly local restaurant and if driving through the area I would highly recommend stopping in for a meal. The owner and staff were beyond friendly and gracious. They provided good conversation and keen insight on the town and general area and region. As for the food it was nearly as pleasant as the staff and company. I really enjoyed their chicken curry sandwich. That was the favorite thing I had there. I also had the avocado sandwich and the potato and pasta salad, and those were tasty but not quite as delicious as the chicken curry sandwich. The "Mom & Pop" Shop with beer to boot! Ok, if your traveling though Arizona on the 40 and you have the itch to grab a bite you must visit Sirens cafe. As a budding Vegetarian, it can be difficult to find something that fits your idea of a healthy meal. Especially when I might not be as creative as I soon will be making decisions about what's really good for my body. The owners quickly ascertained I was try to modify just about everything on their menu to meet my vegetarian ways. The woman of this husband and wife team shouted out from the grille in the back, "just leave it to me... I will fix you up something real nice" this immediately relieved the husband out front at the counter who was so patiently trying to accommodate my wishes. Now some of you might be offended by someone taking command like this however, it was her delivery of unadulterated care that rang true. As we left the small cafe to visit the "Black Bridge" brewery literally next door I knew I was in for something special. The Black Bridge brewery, a small, quaint, locals place was just as inviting. No doubt the business co exist sending customers back and forth between each other. When my surprise meal, personality delivered to me from the owner of cafe to the brewery arrived, it was nothing less then amazing. The experience from this delightful husband and wife team... the quality of the food and unique cohabitation of the brewery next door made this experience nothing less then amazing. BRAVO! read more

I was let down yet again by another Kingman eatery. I had seen all of the rave reviews on yelp for this place and tried to eat here one other time, but they were closed so this time I called to make sure when they would be open since I would be passing through town. When hubby and I first walked in it was awkward. We had no idea what to do since there was no sign saying to seat yourself or to wait to be seated and I didn't see any employees. A girl came from the back and went straight to a table that had 4 customers waiting to order. She didn't even say anything to us as she came out, so we stood there waiting until she was done taking the other customers order and then she finally came over to us and asked what we wanted. Ummm.. How about some food?!?!?!? I asked her if we could place an order to-go and she said yes. She then sat us at a filthy table and gave us menus to look at. The menu choices looked good and I honestly had a hard time deciding what to order. The prices were also very reasonable. The wait until the girl finally came back to take our order wasn't reasonable however. Almost 15 minutes passed until she came back to take our order. By this time, there were 2 men behind the register just shooting the breeze while this girl was rushing around trying to take care of the customers. I must admit, the girl was very nice and did apologize for the wait. I don't understand why it is up to this 1 person to take orders, make the orders, clean tables and ring up customers. One of the men had on a Coke jacket so he might have been a vendor there talking to the other employee, but come on buddy jump in and help or why are you there? The table we waited at had cup rings and food crumbs all over it and there were other tables with dirty cups/trash as well. The floors and counter near the register was dusty and dirty too. I think if they had more staff on hand these things could be taken care of properly. It scared me to think about what the kitchen might look like since the dining area was so dirty. I decided to order the 1/2 sandwich and cup of soup priced at $5.50 and it came with "Minestrone Soup" and "The Bruno" panini. I asked the girl if she could add avocado to my sandwich and she said when she makes paninis, she usually puts the avocado on the side so it doesn't get hot. Well, I don't want to peel apart a warm and toasty sandwich just to add it on there and I grill and bake avocados, so it certainly wasn't going to hurt anything to put it on there. I convinced her that if it didn't turn out right then it would be my own fault. There is also an extra charge of 75 cents for avocado, which they slice fresh, so I didn't mind. I did mind the wait yet again! It took forever to get our food. We were there a total of 35 minutes just to pick up 2 sandwiches to-go. The sandwich wasn't even very big so I just didn't get it. The Bruno has ham, swiss, lettuce, tomato and artichoke spread on Italian bread. It was very good! I'm not even going to lie this sandwich was very tasty. Even the addition of avocado was perfect. The soup however was terrible. It should have been called zucchini soup with canned tomatoes. After 3 tastes I had to stop and just throw it away. Hubby ordered a Pastrami Sandwich that just looked awful. The meat was fatty and I usually take a taste of his meat, but not this time. I did enjoy my sandwich, but a majority of the food just wasn't good, the wait time was terrible and the cleanliness of the restaurant is issue enough for me to pass on ever coming back. I did notice after asking for my receipt that there was no charge for the avocado I added to my sandwich so I mentioned it. She said that she forgot and not to worry about it. A tip wasn't deserved, but hubby put a buck in the tip jar to cover the 75 cent avocado. They do offer catering. read more

Major fail. Had to wait over a half hour for a nasty pastrami sandwich for take out. There was only one lady taking orders, making the food, ringing people up, and running around sweating trying to keep up. The inside was dirty and some tables hadn't been cleared from previous customers. The pastrami sandwich I ordered cost $6.95 plus an additional $2.00 for extra meat. I made a mistake in asking for extra meat because it was fatty and honestly tasted rotten. Where was the meat though? If this is what you call a pastrami sandwich with extra meat, don't expect customers who know real pastrami to be overjoyed by it. It had a weird funky color to it and after 1 taste I dropped it in the nearest trash and went to McDonald's for their 2 for $4 Big Mac deal. McD's didn't let me down like this place and that is damn sad. read more

We had a ho-hum lunch at Calico's, decided against dessert, and then started browsing Kingman's main drag. Walked around the block and found this place. Asked the owner if the desserts were homemade, and she said absolutely. That was all I needed to hear. We came in and ordered two slices of pie, and she brought out two gigantic slabs of the most beautiful pie I've ever seen or tasted. The apple-raisin-walnut was heated up, no ice cream (it didn't need it). Gorgeous homemade unsweetened all-butter crust, stunning texture and flavor. The key lime pie was puckery tart and topped with unsweetened whipped cream. She also brought us a coffee granita that was made with cold-brewed espresso and just the barest amount of sweetener. Noticing a theme here? Over and over I was pleasantly surprised by the sensation of being able to taste the subtleties of flavor of the food, precisely because I was *not* being beaten over the head with sugar. The owner/hostess studied culinary arts in Italy and has obviously taken her training to heart, not falling prey to the American cooking philosophy of using as much sugar, salt and fat as you can cram into the food. Food here tastes like food. Really, really yummy food. We looked at the menu, already planning our next trip to Kingman just to have lunch at this place, and we made mention of the homemade ricotta/artichoke/dill spread. As in, they make their own ricotta cheese, and then mix it with dill and artichokes. Yes, you read that right. She let us taste some, and it didn't disappoint. Foodies, if you're stuck out in the desert, know that there is an oasis out there. I'd recommend making a special pilgrimmage to Kingman just to visit this place. read more

We were driving through Kingman at lunchtime on our way from Arizona to Las Vegas and found this amazing place on Yelp. TOTAL WINNER! We walk in and were welcomed by a very friendly staff. A woman and her mother own the place and they sat down and talked us for a few minutes. We fell in love with both of them :) Everything is homemade from the salad dressing to the cannolis. EXCELLENT! I got here just in time, the young lady was so friendly, took her time with me and accommodated my requests. On our way to Las Vegas, we used Yelp to help guide us to a lunch stop with at least a four-star rating (there are not many in Kingman.) Lo and behold we were guided to Sirens' Cafe. It is a little kitschy sandwich shop located on the main drag. The service was friendly and they made you feel like family. They have quite a few options for sandwiches on their menu, but they also offer a make your own option, which is what I chose. I ordered a smoked turkey and swiss cheese panini-style, and it was one of the best sandwiches I've had in eons. The owner and server were all giddy because they just received recognition in Arizona Highways for one of the top places to eat in Arizona. They showed us the article in the magazine and offered up a taste of their special artichoke spread, the recipe having been featured in the mag . . . OMG . . . I could have eaten it as a meal itself. This is by far the best sandwich shop I have ever eaten at. Everything is fresh, homemade and tastes like grandma would make if she had studied with some of the finest European chefs in the world. I spend a good amount of time in Kingman visiting friends and whenever I am there, you can find me eating a large percentage of my meals at Sirens'. Homemade soups, desserts, and spreads are made fresh everyday with a lot of love and a bit of Italian flair. No wonder they were mentioned in Arizona Highways Magazine as one of the best restaurants in Arizona. I'm obsessed with their Italian dressing, artichoke spread and beer cheese. And ALL of it is made from scratch in house by the lovely ladies of Sirens' Cafe. The "La Sirena", Albacore tuna sandwich with avocado and sprouts on wheat bread, is a must have. I usually get a side of the Italian dressing to ladle onto every delicious bite. And, oh, the potato salad-creamy deliciousness that I can never get enough of. By the way, they also custom cater for a lot of events in Kingman, because these ladies can do way more than just make sandwiches. If you are making your way down route 66, are on your way to Vegas, or just find yourself passing through a little town called Kingman, please make Sirens' a stop along your journey. We were driving from Las Vegas to Sedona, and decided to stop by this place for lunch, and it was one of the best decisions we made on the trip! The servers and owner were friendly and accommodating, and the place generally felt warm and comfortable. We ordered a range of sandwiches, soups, and paninis, which all came with sides. They were ALL delicious, fresh, reasonably priced, and filling. The mushroom soup we agreed was probably one of the best soups we have EVER had! We loved it so much we asked for the recipe and the owner came out and explained how to make it and wrote out a list of ingredients. Now THAT is hospitality! I would also recommend to check out the town around the store- there are a couple interesting antiques/collectibles shops that have Route 66 themed items. What a gem in the northern Arizona 'wasteland!!' We were driving from St. George to Cottonwood and just had to stop in Kingman to eat. I was wary at first...driving down Beale Street looked bleak. But I found this place on Yelp (of course!) and had to try it! Cute little place...decked out with mermaids and other sea creatures. Some local group was having a meeting in the middle of the tiny restaurant so we tried to sit as far away as we could. The food was terrific! I had the curry chicken sandwhich (made with craisins, green apple and cashews!) on wheat and my spouse had the roast beef and swiss on Italian roll. Both delish! But the best part was the potato salad that came on the side. It is the closest I have ever had to my Mom's great recipe! LOTS of potatoes and eggs in the creamiest mayo base ever! So so so good. We were in the area, and unfortunately, all of the area eateries (including this one) close very early. We saw that Sirens' had received good reviews previously, so we gave it a shot. I ordered a variation on the roast beef sandwich, and my husband got a panini. My sandwich was good (not bad, not fabulous), but his panini was bad. The potato salad, however, was excellent. The café was clean, and the sole staff member we interacted with was pleasant. I don't think we'd go back, but if you are in the area, give it a shot! read more

We drove through Kingman on our way from Vegas to Flagstaff and stopped for lunch at this cute little cafe located in the center of town. For a small town, this was a nice place to have lunch. The staff was friendly and the food was fresh and tasted homemade. My boyfriend and I split the curry Tito and the porafino sandwiches. The chicken curry was the more creative of the two -made with nuts and craisons. The porafino was a little heavy on the meat for my preferences.
