I enjoyed the vibe of this place. The old school pin ball machines sounds make this place special. The beer selection is really good had an awesome time with Erin she was super helpful and friendly. The chili cheese tater tots were bomb, the burrito was okay, and had the chicken tacos also which were good. This is a perfect stop to go in with the homie and play a few games drink and snacks. read more

Sister Bar has such a great venue for concerts, however it's very small for the amount of people that go. With that being said, I highly recommend getting their early so you can get a good spot and get some great drinks from the amazing bartenders! I enjoyed KRS-One so much that I've already planned on going back for 2 more concerts in the next couple months! read more

Went on a Monday night just to check out the taco situation. I mean, driving downtown for dinner on a Monday night...it had to be a great taco situation, right? We were not disappointed! Great tots (get the kimchi cheddar ones for a sweet, savory, crunchy set of potatoey bites) and really good tacos! My favorite might be a tossup between the fried avocado taco and the special--- a cheesy taco with ground beef, potatoes, and regular Midwestern taco toppings. Surprisingly complete in its flavor delivery for being a very steadfast kind of taco! Hubs loved the brisket taco but I felt that it was missing something herbaceous...a cilantro crema, maybe? Carnitas taco was good but if you're going to pork it up, why not go big with the Asian pork taco with its heaping shreds of kimchi and raw onion? We didn't try the chicken or the other veggie/vegan ones but were really digging the fried avocado taco! Who knew? In any case, it was a generally affordable meal and we look forward to returning to try out what looks like a baller Sunday brunch menu! read more

Atmosphere is amazing but in this day and age of covid what is "atmosphere?" I only had the tacos but each and everyone was amazing. They were generous with the sauce and the seasining and the taco shell we between a soft taco and a hard taco shell.. AKA PERFECT!!! read more

A co-worker and I had heard that Sister had Taco Tuesdays so we decided to try it out. We walked in, found a table and sat down. We saw someone who appeared to be a waitress go to another table and drop off some food. We waited for a server to come to our table. We started looking around trying to get someone's attention. Nothing. My co-worker walked up to the bar. Nothing. Finally a guy who had been outside smoking came in, saw us looking around and told us that we needed to order our food from the bar. We went to stand at the bar. Nothing. We looked at each other and walked out. Wow. What a horrible experience. read more

Pretty cool spot with a ton of arcade machines, plenty of space, and decent bar food. My first time coming here was really off putting because of a bartender who completely ignored me for 20 minutes while I sat at the bar until someone else came on for their shift. Their security was also a little too aggro for my taste. read more

Thistly Ginger Cider is ridiculous! LA needs to get hip to NM beers too. Colorado who? And there isn't a pic of my vegan taco because I was too busy licking my fingers to take one. Horrible place! Albeit they attract some decent bands, but after my last visit I will never visit Sister bar again! Charged for drinks we didn't order, bouncers are total power-tripping douchebags, and customer service SUCKS! If I could give it ZERO stars I would - don't waste your time, money, and sanity at this place. read more

I don't frequent bars, but when I get out, I typically go to Sister, which has a long bar, a venue for bands, and an arcade and good food as well. Food menu is nice with gluten free and vegan options, I love how they have gf and vegan symbols by items on the menu so you know what you are getting. The ricotta pancakes on Sunday morning are amazing. The coffee is good. We have always found the staff to be welcoming. The music is good and not too loud, and there are arcade games and pinball at the prices you'd expect, the selection is getting better and better. My husband enjoys going to metal shows there, sometimes we just stop to play pinball. I'm currently expecting, but I can't wait to try more of their cocktails in the future, they all sound delicious. I'm so glad that Albuquerque has a bar like Sister, a fun place even if you are sober. read more

Great spot, old vibe with neons and pin ball machines. Drinks were good, nothing too special. The food was fantastic! Delicious tacos, chile fries (ask for Christmas which will get you red and green chiles), and the bean burrito is excellent. Get yourself an assortment and share with the table. There was a stage where I'm guessing they have live music so could be a good spot for that too although there was no band when we were there. read more

Wow! Got a Yelp rec for this place. Felt very clean/safe upon arrival which is very important nowadays. Staff was helpful and accommodating. Food was so yummy! Drinks were perfect. We were those jerks that show up 30mins to closing time and were still treated amazingly. Witnessed staff giving food they would throw out to those less fortunate and I fell deeper in love. It's been said that the mixologist responsible for Sister's seasonally rotating cocktail offerings is too modest to refer to herself by such a lofty title. Go check out her mastetful creations and judge for yourself! (Spoiler alert: she's way too modest!) Sister Bar has it all; great tacos and a kitchen that stays open until 1am (even on a Monday!), an intimate music venue that puts local musicians and more broadly recognized greats within arm's reach; and a staff that I have yet to see falter under pressure! Quick shout out to Erin (sp?); positive vibes everytime, a smile that lights up a room, and a love for creativity and cocktail originality! I was stopping through Albuquerque and wanted to eat at a local restaurant. I found Sister in an article listing the seven best restaurants in town. And I have to say I was not at all disappointed. I got their cauliflower taco as well as potato taco and a side of ketchup with taters. I highly recommend visiting here if you are moving to town or if you're just driving through. It's a great spot to eat and spend your money rather than going to the fast food restaurant. The tacos and tater tot's filled me up and cost less than $15. read more

This place is kinda cool on the inside but it's really hard to get a bartenders attention wether it's busy or slow. I've been non for their special nights and on regular ones and have noticed unless you're with someone the bartenders personally know, you will likely get a rude/snotty sort of costumer service; curses if you're with someone they know you'll get quick and friendly service. This in my opinion is super frustrating. They do have fairly good food (for a bar) and they do serve it really late which is a plus! Their drinks are good when you can get their attention. It was my first time here and my last. Hostess asked us how many we said we have friends inside if we can see with him he said "yes text them first see how many at the table we can only have 6 at the table" We assumed (which we shouldn't have), that meant we can go in if there was only 4 and there was, We walked in. A man comes running yelling at us telling us we can't seat ourselves being so rude and disrespectful when we had just talked to the host. So we were like cool we will go back and wait till host let's us in. So we go back in and host sits us not with our group, at this point I was just like whatever it's cool. But then the same guy that yelled us makes a rude comment "You're lucky we are letting you guys in" and that's when I had enough I was done with this place. This guy does not belong in customer service maybe had one too many to drink too. He did not have to say anything after that I even said sorry for walking in. Flew in from Denver and told my friend I was starving when I got off the plane. She said she knew a place I'd love. How did she know? We both got veggie burritos with chirizo, and a local pilsner. I loved the atmosphere, and the unique and eclectic decor. Not divy but not kitchy, just full of personality. The burrito was really delicious, I ate every single bite and left happy. In addition to food and drink and eclectic decorations really caught my attention. I would love to hang out here and have a few more drinks. read more

Great late night vegan option. We came into town around midnight and this place was serving food till 2am and they happened to have vegan! The green Chile stew is a must try! As well as their tacos (make sure you add green Chile sauce, if it doesn't already) Yummy! read more

This bar was recommended by a few people to us, so we gave it 2 chances. Both visits consisted of bad service, rude bartenders, and less than mediocre drinks. Also, I didn't feel the least bit safe being here. It was a Sunday evening so I think the staff were ready to close up shop so they were scaring everyone out. They were making threats and telling us they were "cutting us off" when it was our first drink of the night. Absolute joke. Holy Crap. Without doubt the funniest entrance to a bar I have EVER experienced. We called ahead to make sure my underage nephew/niece could get in to play pinball (which they said "yes"). The bouncer at the door still insisted on IDing us. I'm 49 yrs old, my brother is 53, and my dad is a whopping 79yrs old!! All had to show IDs....Kids walked in without question... Lol!! My favorite bar in Albuquerque. Their vegan options are great, and they are always very accommodating with altering vegetarian items to make them vegan. I honestly can't even name one dish that I like the best because they're all so delicious (try red chile tots w/o cheese). No vegan items on the Sunday brunch menu just yet, but I hear they're coming? :] They will make you something vegan for brunch, fyi. I had avocado toast, it was yummy. There's fun video games, pinball, foosball, and generally really fun atmosphere. I've been to a few great shows here as well. read more

Man let me tell you about the worst bartenders in new Mexico. Tipping didn't make it know better. I even tried another bartender to see if maybe it was just the first bartender that was bad. A fun place to check out if you're not into the clubbing atmosphere, and just want to chill They have alot of games you can play like ping ball machines, 90s arcade games (Mortal Combat, etc.), fuse ball...they're about 25 cents a game. Sister is cool. The shows can be a bit overpriced compared to launchpad and the drinks are a tad too pricey, but they have a great selection of pinball machines and the staff seems on point most of the time given the amount of clientele they recieve. Definitely recommended, but seek another alternative if you're low on funds. read more

I'm not sure how I felt about Sister. It's on the top list in the local paper for everything from tacos to nightlife. We went and it was such a crazy mix of people. It looks like a club with a long bar. The bar was packed, but we were able to get service and found a table outside. The cliente was everything. At first, I felt uneasy - there isn't just one kind of person and my friend and I enjoyed the people watching. Sister seems to take in everybody. We got local beers, tacos, and tater tots. The tacos were pretty good. When we finally left, we noticed there was a line outside. There's also cops patrolling the closed down streets. Sister, on a Saturday night, seems to be the better choice. read more

Dive bar vibe that's a bit hard to find; street parking can be challenging. The food was a good bar/brunch selection. My friend and I enjoyed the spanglish, 2 other friends enjoyed the bowl, huevos rancheros had great corn tortillas and hash browns. He had better at other places. Ordered chips and salsa, a bean burrito, vegetarian burrito, and a carnitas taco. All were incredibly delicious. Salsa was some of the best I've ever had. Bar staff were quick and professional. Food was brought out within 10 minutes and was wonderful. Vibes were very hipster. Lots of locals, trendy young professionals. Seemed to have a good live music scene. Stopped here driving through on a road trip at about 9 pm on a Thursday. Seemed to be in a rougher part of town, lots of homeless youth on the streets but restaurant itself was very safe. This bar is filled with staff and management that are rude and inconsiderate. They are extremely judgmental and do not care about their customers. I've been singled out just because of the shirt I was wearing. Being a local restaurant I thought they would more open to local culture but are the exact opposite.
