WORST rental experience ever!! Charged me $880 for a 2-day non-luxury rental because of a different drop-off location (JFK-Battery Park), even though on their website it clearly states you can return at a different location. NO ONE from SIXT ever told me there's such charge from the time I rented to returning. This is legit FRAUD and SCAM! I plan to dispute this charge and report it to FTC and BCP. I'll also contact the media to report this fraudulent customer scam. Several car rental companies paid millions of $$$ fines for their illegal charges. It's just a matter of time for SIXT to pay for their own fault. read more

Disappointing and dishonest. They play Bait and switch I Payed extra at booking the rental online and payed for the what they call Vehicle group .PCAR in the Description says would be Mercedes-Benz A-Class, Mercedes-Benz CLA, Lincoln MKZ. Picture on the website it shows the car is a jaguar. I booked with them because their prices where better then from where I regularly rent which is Hertz Avis & National . When I got there they told me they're out of that category vehicle and they said they could give me an"upgrade" to a Volvo. Or I can pay a extra 200+ dollars and get a Range Rover. I was very disappointed as I'm a regular customer with Hertz Avis & National. And they never played on me a Bait and switch on me like this . read more

The shuttle bus never came (I waited 35 minutes in the rainy cold) so I got on a Hertz and the car was only $50 more for 3 days!

Car rentals reviews in general tend to suffer from selection bias more so than the average business, so I feel like I have to write this review. I needed a car for 12 days in NYC and Sixt was meaningfully cheaper than all other competitors + read they had new fleet. Some bad reviews, hidden charges potential, probably too good to be true, but figured what the heck, might just be the selection bias, so I took a calculated risk and booked their BMW 3 Series. They called the day before (real person on the line) to confirm reservation. Ok, small plus. I show up to pick up the car, and due to a misunderstanding (unusual situation, wont get into details but mostly my bad) I did not have all the documents I needed. While waiting, I overhear that they ran out of 3 Series. Oh boy, I feel all my fears are coming true. I can already see the choice between getting a beat up camry at the same price or getting "upsold" a similar car for double the price. So i asked them if we could "lock-in the car" before I get my documents. Is a 5 series ok? I'm like "same rate"? Yup! "But is it a 2005 5 series that smells like weed and looks like a gangster car"? Nope! Ok didnt really say the last part but was surely thinking it. Now to The car. So this was a 2020 bmw 530 xdrive with a decent amount of options, 6000 miles on it. Smelled new. If you live in NYC you probably now that your chances of riding in a car like this, or even remotely as nice (barring owning your own car which, if you live inManhattan, is rare), by way of Uber (even Uber Black), Zipcar, etc, is ZERO. Bottom line car was great (ok the sunroof wasnt working but c'mon) Dropping off was easy. The guy was helpful and nice. Just got my receipt, no hidden charges (still waiting on tolls, but i got the ezpass option so i hope no surprises there). Bottom line, i paid something like $80 (including all taxes and fees) per day. I'm sure ymmv and you might have a bad experience with this company or car rentals in general, but just know that, while most people will not bother to write a review if all goes smoothly, it might be worth taking a calculated risk sometimes. read more

Absolutely horrific car pick up experience. I waited for nearly an hour with only three people ahead of me in line. One of the people responsible for check in kept disappearing, zero regard for the queue or her job. I've used other SIXT locations and found them to be fine, but this is by far the most incompetence I've ever seen at a rental car counter. Not recommended, and will never rent here again. read more

Worse rental experience ever. Just to simplify. I booked online. Added my credit card during checkout. They give me a defective car, battery kept dying caused me a great deal on inconvenience. I return the car later for an exchange. They give my the exchange. I received a bill later $250 for not gasing up the defective. After complaining they refunded me $150 although I returned the car they exchanged for the defective one with a full tank. I am not dealing with this company anymore. read more

The morning (6/13/2022 @ 6am) vehicle drop off female attendant is extremely rude and condescending. Very confrontational and argumentative with both employees and customers. Employees that I spoke with from shared space competitor's have indicated this unacceptable patterned behavior. Was going to be a potential customer due to the popularity at the Miami location, but will refuse to conduct business with this kind of employee present. This location has great potential, but it's sad that having this unprofessional employee taints Sixt's image. read more

Rude customer service! Do not rent from this company ! Every person in line had major issues with this company! We prepaid for a car and our flight was changed when we picked up the car we told them one day shorter. They would not credit us for a return one day early. If we could give negative stars we would. In the travel industry, with covid and flights being cancelled and changed companies have to be more flexible with their customers. This company lost us as a customer for sure and we travel monthly. Rented a car for my stay in NY. I was waiting to see what the total of my tolls would be and how I'd be charged in order to write my review. Let me begin by saying it was the 1st time I've ever rented a car. Apart from the line to wait to speak to an agent, everything went smoothly. The Hispanic lady who chatted with me about sharing the same birthday was very friendly and recommended that I get an EZ pass and I would definitely recommend people who plan to commute from Upstate to the city do the same. The one thing I can say to avoid being adamant about renting any BMW because it seemed like those were the go to vehicle that day, so be prepared to wait if that's how you roll. Returning the vehicle seemed a lot easier and I wouldn't recommend the extra cost they charge for returning the car with less than a full tank. There are lots of gas stations on exits closer to the airport to fill up. read more

Their prices are good and the cars are clean. The staff is friendly the only issue is their toll boxes will charge you even when the cover to the toll box is closed. I never order the toll boxes because I don't want to spend the $5, and I always paid tolls with cash.... but now the boxes seem to be faulty and charge the toll without me opening the cover. I was charged for a toll in which I had paid cash for to the toll agent. A month letter this bill from Sixt arrived for an extra $8.08. For me to dispute this I would have to have the paper receipt proving I paid the toll to the toll collector. Who keeps paper receipts. Well if you rent from Sixt you may need to submit to their rental of the toll box if you plan to drive any roads with tolls. You have an illusion of choice because their box seems to be faulty and this glitch tilts in the favor of Sixt not you. I tried to see if they would credit me and their support basically told me to pound sand. RENTER BEWARE. read more

We picked our car at night and drove straight to our hotel to sleep. The next morning there was a note from the US Marshall and a boot on our tire. They rented us a car with a history of unpaid parking tickets that the Marshall has been looking for! We spent 3 hours on hold with SIXT and they never answered the phone. We divided to take an Uber back to the airport to talk to the people there. We gave them the keys and they said they were sorry and would refund us for everything. Then about two weeks later we get an email accusing us of stealing the car and a charge of 1,600 dollars on our card. We had to call and email several times but they refundEd the money. Then a month later we got a bill for 1,000 dollars for the towing bill. They decided we were liable for it. I called and emailed again and I am going through the whole circus again for this charge! This is unbelievable! The whole experience has been awful and I feel harassed at this point! It ruined our trip and I am still dealing with it. We rented in March and I am still dealing with this! read more

I was forced to give this a 1 star review just because it won't allow you to rate it no stars. That is how unprofessional this alleged rental company is. I usually rent fro the more known companies such as Enterprise and Hertz but I decided to give them a try, and I regret ever making that decision. I booked a one day rental and when I arrived at the JFK location to collect the vehicle that I had booked a week in advanced I was told by one of the employees that they will put my name on a waiting list. Apparently their system ended up over booking customers. So after waiting 3 hours for them to put their heads together and try to get vehicle transported to this location I was able to get one. But wait, theirs more. After returning the car the next day I was charged for 5 days instead of the 1 day I had this vehicle for. But wait, theirs more. Good luck trying to get an actual person on the phone to talk to. After two weeks of the back and forth I was able to speak to a representative that offered no sympathy to what happened. Needless to say I will never in this life or the next book any vehicle thru this company again!!! read more

Terrible Service and information. AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!!!!! I rented a car on a Monday March 8, brought it back for return on a Thursday March 11 in the late evening 11pm, and the location was permanently CLOSED, and had moved to an entirely different place at the airport. I took me over 45 minutes to drive to this location from where I was staying No email, call or signs were put up to notify me or any customer. Finally staff from a different rental car company informed that they moved to another area of the airport. When I got there at midnight, it was closed, and no car returns were being taken. At midnight, I had to take the car back to another location in Manhattan. This was another 45 minute drive back in the wrong direction. Customer service on the phone was TERRIBLE and did not offer any refund or service to me besides taking it to a different location. This cost me over $25 in tolls, and all customer service had to say was "I don't know sir, I will file I claim for you" This is while I am driving back, and then he refused to email me a claim number. How could I write this down while riding on the highway!! a I got the invoice days later for an additional $200 charge for the car being taken to a different location, but that is what customer service told me to do! It is now 4 days later, and I am still waiting for the branch manager to call me back. WHAT A SCAM!!!!! I will be calling my credit card to stop payment AVOID AT ALL COSTS read more

Worse rental car customer service ever I rented a Mercedes Benz then when I got there they gave me a total different car if I wanted a Mercedes-Benz I had to pay extra .the people were so rude when I got there. there was a customer that was before me and the lady was so rude and yelling at him and all he was asking was a simple question but I needed a car anyway so I went ahead and took what they had.
