We've been coming to Metro Balderas for over 20 years, and it just keeps getting better! From the Alum Rock location, then Milpitas, and now Bascom--this place has always been a family favorite. The food is absolutely amazing and full of authentic flavor Mexico DF style. Best tacos in the bay! Flavor 10/10. The salsa pairs perfectly and thw ratio of meat to tortilla is perfect. The Alpastor are my favorite meat choice but the meat is not always good in other places, however, Metro Balderas always makes it perfect. I have been going here for years and it is time to stop gatekeeping. These are hands down my favorite. Parking is a struggle sometimes but practice patience and you will not be let down. The aguas frescas are also good and othe items I have tried are the pambazos, quesadillas, huaraches, and burritos. My top favorites are the tacos, huarache and hand made quesadillas with tinga. Honestly one of the worst nachos that I think ever been produced the lack of cheese on this is making it borderline be more dry than Popeyes biscuits! 68 dollars for 2 mediocre plates of Mexican food and one dry nachos with no cheese. It's basically just eating tortilla chips and a small taste of chicken. There's so much better spots in San Jose! And the service wasn't the best either with them bringing our plates at 3 different times... The workers look like they hate it here and aren't friendly at all. I recommend calling in your order especially if you are tight on time because one time I waited almost 15-20 min for a few tacos. Their asada is amazing! I love their super burritos. But the tacos are really good too. I usually love pastor but I wouldnt mind getting asada here. Pretty affordable price as well. Tacos were great. We tried pollo asada, carne asada and al pastor - everything had good flavor and wasn't dry. They give you a good amount of meat in each taco and the price is pretty good. They also include some sautéed onions and peppers with your order. Refried Beans and Rice were really good. The only thing we wish is that the salsa was better. The salsa that we got with our chips tasted like tomato sauce. And then the salsas we got with our tacos (red and green) were both too spicy for me. Maybe someone else would like it more. The inside is super nice and homey while also a great sit-down restaurant. The menu is extensive and easy to read and the cashier was very helpful in answering our questions. Service here was great. Everyone spoke perfect English and I think food is authentic. Ambiance is nothing to talk about. You order at the counter, and they bring the food to your table. Surprisingly my meal came with a side of chips and salsa. I asked for water and it was served in a small plastic cup. The workers there make good eye contact but I guess I should've hollered for a refill. Unfortunately, their carne asada plate just didn't do it for me. The beans and rice were standard. The beef was charred well, but it didn't get much flavor. I tried putting the green sauce and other sauces but it just didn't work for me. It came with fresh handmade tortillas though and you have the option for corn/flour. They came piping hot. I still like this place, and I want to order more familiar dishes like tacos next time. Rating this place a 3.5 rounding up to 4. There's a small parking lot in front of the restaurant and the interior is clean and spacious with plenty of seating. I ordered the al pastor super burrito which was around 7-8" long. There was a good amount of meat in there (not an insane amount, but they don't skimp), and the al pastor was pretty tender and was flavorful. The rice was a bit too soft for my preference but overall the burrito was good. I also tried the steak which was a bit dry and prefer the al pastor. The salsas here were alright and nothing special. The value for the burritos is great with the super burritos being around $11. Definitely would come back because that's a steal nowadays. read more

Menu is bilingual and easy to order at the front counter. I chose pambazo a Mexican chorizo/potato sandwich similar to torta add $1.50 for fries and for drinks orange juice. I was quite surprised by the size it was more generous with all the fillings comes with chorizo, potato, shredded lettuce, onions, garlic, slaw and layer with guajlio chili sauce. It was more than fulfilling and definitely appetizing es muy deliciso great for brunch or late night snacks. Pambazo is my kind of dish for its authentic Mexican style meal and every bit of it so amazing a real bombshell. Tacos al pastor ($1.25 on Wednesdays), huaraches, and chips & salsa (free) are great as always. You still order at the counter and get your food brought to the table of your choosing.
