Wine options during brunch are even better. There's a nice variety of food options. But I will say, time after time, food I or my friends have had is missing seasoning. I had the shrimp and smoked bacon pizza which is a good choice. However, I did put salt on it. There were a couple of things that needed salt. But not everything. My friends and I have been here several times before and absolutely love this place. The food, ambiance, and overall experience have always been amazing, which is why I was so excited to finally bring my fiancée for his first visit this past weekend along with my sister. When I asked for a table for 3, she immediately seemed dismissive and rude. I completely understand prioritizing guests with reservations, but the tone and attitude were unnecessary. I even politely asked if it would be possible to request a table upstairs, and the response felt very cold and rude. The interaction made all three of us uncomfortable enough that we actually decided to leave. As we walked around looking for somewhere else to eat, we noticed an elevator leading upstairs and realized it was another entrance to the same restaurant with a different host. We decided to give it one more try, and I'm so glad we did. The upstairs host was incredibly kind, welcoming, and accommodating from the moment we walked in. I briefly explained what had happened downstairs, and she continued checking on us to make sure everything was okay. Her kindness completely turned the experience around for us, along with our waiter who was also wonderful. The food was amazing as always and truly never disappoints. We were seated downstairs, which felt tucked away from the energy and music coming from upstairs, so it was a bit quieter, but also less lively. When we arrived, they told us we needed reservations, which was odd because... we had them. Not a big deal, but just confusing. The brunch burger came out lukewarm at best, and the potatoes didn't help. They were also pretty cold and forgettable. My food overall just wasn't hot. I got the Scarlet Letter Sangrita (tequila + rose + pomegranate) which was decent but tasted more like juice than anything with alcohol. My friends felt the same--everything was okay, not terrible, but not memorable enough to return for the food. I didn't try any of the wine this time (despite the 60 in the name), so maybe I'll come back just to explore that side of the experience. But even then, the downstairs space felt cramped. The foot traffic behind our table was constant and kind of uncomfortable. It's a well-designed space visually, but not the most practical for a busy brunch crowd. Came here for Valentine's Day and it was a great choice! They're called 60 vines because they specialize in wine- I got the Riesling and my gf for the bubbly moscato and both were wonderful! They're also big on environmental sustainability which means a lot. I got the shrimp scampi pizza I think and my gf got some kind of pasta and it was all phenomenal. I wish I could remember what they were all called but it was so good! Location: Located in the Rice Village Shopping Center, this building is one you cannot miss. It sits penthouse style at the very top of the shopping center. There is street parking, where you can park at your own risk, but if you want to get a bit closer to the restaurant there is parking on the top floor near the entrance. Buyer beware... the parking spaces are super tight, I don't recall if there was valet (we self parked), and the parking ticket system is very slow/delayed which causes a major back up and traffic jam trying to get in and out of the parking lot. It gives boho chic with an Italian pizza oven smack dab in the middle. The lighting makes for a great date night or simply a Girls night out. Food: We got there Cheese Board... Houston has so many incredible food spots that you can't find anywhere else, but since Sixty Vines has locations in multiple states, I wouldn't consider it a "must" for the food. I also tried the frozen Aperol spritz, which was really good, though I wish the Aperol flavor came through a bit stronger. My fiancé ordered the Beekeep, which was also tasty and had a nice sweetness to it. For appetizers, we got the truffled vineyard fries and albondigas. If you're unsure about what to order, go with the fries--you can't go wrong. The flavor and texture were spot on. The albondigas, on the other hand, were a miss for me. They're Spanish-style meatballs, but the texture was too firm and the flavor just wasn't there, so I wouldn't order them again. Pro tip - for parking, you can park on the 2nd level of the building that is reserved for Sixty Vines and your first 2 hours are free. I arrived first in my party on a Friday afternoon for a late lunch, around 2PM and was seated at a table for 4. It took a few minutes to get seated since we didn't have a reservation, but the hostess and waiter who passed by were both very helpful and friendly. When you are seated, you will see a paper menu of all their sixty wines on tap and a QR code on the bottom for food. I decided for the fried zucchini to start and the shrimp pasta for the entrée. The zucchini was light, crispy, but flavorful; the flavors were like a like sweet and sour sauce and the accompanying cilantro added more flavor to it. Our entire party decided to order the shrimp pasta as our entrée and we all loved it! The white wine sauce was delicious and the tomatoes were a perfect balance of flavor and texture. We got the burrata, which is one of the best burratas I've ever had. I, personally, don't like hard bread where it's hard and crispy on the edges and soft only in the middle, but this bread was so soft all around. The roasted tomatoes were to die for, and the actual burrata was so delicious with the sauce. We also got some white wine that paired really well with the fig and prosciutto pizza. The pizza was good but nothing spectacular. It was really thin, so if you're not a fan of thin crust, you may not be a fan. We had a reservation and once we were seated at our table, we didn't have a waiter or anyone come check on us for like 10-15 minutes, so that definitely threw us off. HOWEVER, as soon as someone came and checked on us, they were incredibly apologetic and took really good care of us and the service was really efficient. Ugh I love the food, the service, and the city street view at night especially (if you get the window seat on the second floor) This is what we ordered both times we came and we would definitely recommend too! Brussels Sprouts: crispy and the tangy vinaigrette is perfect starter to open your palate. Reminds me of the honey siracha brussels my bf makes at home. Shrimp&Smoked Bacon Pizza & Margherita Pizza: the classics, must get! Shrimp's mild sweetness and the smoky bacon paired so well, tasted like grilled shrimps honestly. You know if the Italian restaurant is good by how well they make the margherita. Pizzas are not too doughy, every bite was a balance taste of meats and sauce, very robust. Campanelle: its white wine sauce is very light with a tangy tomato note, and the shrimps create a tender texture and its freshness is so compatible with the sauce. Radiatori Primavera: their most popular pick imo! Super rich and savory blend of pesto sauce, the buttery and herbaceous was so yummy. Rainbow Trout: well pan seared, crispy skin yet really soft and tender meat to eat. It's so fresh and light savory, one of my favorites too. All I want to say is that no dish can go wrong here. I love coming to Sixty Vines!!! Parking is not great, however that's common in Houston. It's so beautiful and the food is good. I love ordering the brunch, specifically the French toast, as you can see it's so pretty but also tastes great. I also have been here for dinner and have ordered pizza which was also good! The environment has two levels and it is beautifully decorated. The service is great as they seat you pretty much right away. I would sit upstairs unless you want to be close to the various on tap wines. I recommend this place for special events. read more
