Beef Sirloin Steak Rice Bowl
Sarah J.

Got a beef rice bowl to-go and it was just ok. Portion size was good but the flavor and quality of the food was lacking.

Located in SLU, this is one of the rare finds of affordable lunch. Banh mi's from $9.99 and rice bowls from $11.99, plus tax - a lot of neighboring places price lunches at 50% more than here. When I went at 11am at opening, it was already pretty busy with a line out the door so I can't imagine how busy it is when it is noon. There is limited seating inside and some outside (only viable when it's not too cold outside). I got the grilled chicken rice bowl with the green sauce, with lettuce, carrots, etc for the toppings. The green sauce is like a cilantro sauce and it was an amazing addition. There is a lot of chicken but not much rice, and I'd take that over having more rice to fill me up. The vegetables are fresh and make the meal nutritionally complete. It was just the right amount of food, and it was healthy, so it is not as filling as other places, but I would take this quality over having quantity. With the amount of meat and the quality of the food, this is one of the better lunches in SLU!

Always my go to quick and easy meal back in UDistrict. Still hit the spot after many years later. Both pork and beef are perfectly cooked and seasoned just right. Veggies are always fresh.

My pork vermicelli prowl with extra jalapeno!!! Ya'ss!! Perfect!!!

Ambience. A Service. A Food. A Price. A Found in the middle between buildings surrounded by working. And living spaces. Have no idea where to find parking, albeit got lucky with street working around block to get my pickup. Nice modern spot. Reminds me of a chipotle setup for ordering Vietnamese food!! Ordered off UBER eats to get a discount BOGO and did my own pickup to avoid $10 deliver service fee. Ordered pork vermicelli. All the veggies were fresh and crunchy and rice noodles on point and the pork was tender. Don't know where the sauce is ?!! The Nuoc Cham sauce?!! Took home and made my own. Lots of food for $15 a bowl! Overall, I'm a FaN!!!

Great place to get a quick and casual Vietnamese meal. Portions were good, lots of flavor and fresh vegetables. Some pieces of meat were a little dry. Overall good experience.

Nice spot for a quick lunch! The staff is responsive and super quick. The grilled chicken was yummy, get the spicy green sauce! The amount of food was pretty great given it was only around $12. Would definitely go back again!

Lychee lemonade without ice? We are confused if it was overlooked or is this standard? Yuzu arrived same way.

We ordered via Instacart. And it was awesome delivery (while being treated for lung rejection), easy transfer, tipping etc. never went into store but very well liked by UWMC staff. The food is Banj Mi Beef Brisket. The brisket is golden. Smooth and silky to eat with the best seasoning and veg ratios. The crunch baguette... yum. Transports me back to my childhood in Seattle restaurants. This is our second order from them and everything is delish. Will go back. Lychee lemonade and yuzu lemonade. I got the half sweet version of the lemonades and only received half a cup and NO ice? Maybe that is their sweet 50% version. Not a win.

I got an order for pickup and didn't realize that this was like a Chipotle but with Vietnamese food until I stopped by to grab my order. You can choose between different meats, veggies, and vessels to carry all the above on (rice, banh mi, vermicelli noodles). I got the grilled chicken rice bowl with no jalapeños and extra egg (since it was the #1 order online). Glad I listened to the masses because it was bomb. The chicken was flavorful and juicy, the rice was perfectly cooked, and the veggies were fresh. Also the portions were great. I have a big appetite and I was able to split my bowl into two meals. I'll definitely be coming back to try different custom orders! Highly recommend asking for extra fish sauce too.

Grilled Pork Banh Mi

Came to SLU for 4th of July and stopped by here to eat while waiting for the fireworks to start. Overall, I thought this place was ok. I got the grilled pork bánh mì for $9.98 Pros: super huge generous portions. Given the big increase in food prices lately, what you get here is a steal and the main reason why I would come back. I noticed big portions in my sandwich and also others' orders. Grilled pork had good flavor and I liked the grilled corn and scallion oil (mỡ hành). Cons: I felt the bread was either old or previously heated to be crispy and then left to cool for a long time so it was a little dry. They ask to put the sauce on last but I think they should put it on first because after all the meat and veggies they give, there's practically no room for sauce. I thought they should've pickled the carrots longer or with more sugar. I wonder about the cleanliness because the bathroom could use some work. Thought it was weird they store containers and food wrappers a mere feet from the toilet (though everything looked wrapped/in boxes). Neutral: Service was not outstanding but got the job done Next time I would like to try the rice bowl

Most places that advertise BBQ usually have roasted pork, ducks, and other meats displayed in the front window, but this restaurant doesn't, making it less noticeable. The staff is friendly and attentive, and the food is outstanding. My favorite dish is the giant crispy catfish served with vermicelli and a delicious dipping sauce. The grilled conch is also excellent and definitely worth ordering. If you're looking for authentic Vietnamese food with great service, I highly recommend giving this place a try.

Loved the elasticity and chewy texture; it wasn't very sticky like other beef tendon I've had. If I come back next time, I'll just get a whole thing of tendon. At the end of the meal, you go up to a counter in the back to pay the bill.

This most recent visit, I had the bun bo hue, which has very tasty broth and blood tofu. The beef ribs in the soup honestly don't come with much meat on them. I feel like I spent a while trying to scrape a pretty meager amount of meat from the bones. Their spring rolls are delicious, and their peanut sauce is one of my favorites I also had the whiskey sour, which was delicious. Loved the pandan flavor. Here are a couple things that you should note. This is effectively not a full service restaurant. They'll come to your table to take your order and drop off your food, but after that you are pretty much on your own. Pacing of courses is not really a thing, and you may very well get your mains and your appetizers and your drinks all at once. Once your food is all on the table, don't expect to be checked on -- if you need water refills, want to order more, or have an issue, you will need to wave someone down. At the end of your meal, you go up to the counter at the end of the bar to pay, with a receipt that they give you when you place your initial order. This is not necessarily a problem, per se, but just know what you can/can't expect here. One thing that I do feel is an actual problem is their carelessness about vegetarian orders. I am an omnivore, but my husband is vegetarian. The last two times I've been here, they've managed to put meat in his vegetarian order. Once, he ordered vegetarian pho, and they brought him pho with vegetables in it but in a beef broth. This most recent time, in his vegetarian dry pho with vegetarian broth, he found a few small pieces of meat in his bowl that he then passed on to me. It's disappointingly careless and the fact that it's happened twice now definitely makes us less likely to come here, and less likely to recommend this place to people who have dietary restrictions. Overall, I still like this place and might come sometimes, but it's unfortunate that the tastiness of their food is not matched by a similar level of attention to detail toward the diner's experience.

Service is exceptionally fast and was sat immediately - the staff are very kind. I did not take a picture of it but I ordered a vermicelli bowl with grilled pork and shrimp fresh rolls to go after my visit. They were both very flavorful and I recommend anything off their menu - it's delicious and worth the effort to dine in but not the right place if you want to chit chat and dilly dally. There's plenty of parking outside in the strip mall which shares a lot with QFC. Seating is limited and there are often wait times around peak meal hours, recommend going 1-2hrs off those times to have a better chance at getting sat sooner! 10/10 recommend

Unfortunately, that is no longer the case. Service has declined significantly. Not only is there still a long wait for a table, but there is also an extended wait for food after you're seated. It was disappointing to watch takeout orders consistently prioritized over customers dining in the restaurant, making dine-in guests feel like an afterthought and reflecting poor management. Combined with the restaurant's recent "OK" health department rating, we've decided not to return. Fast forward a year later to a Sunday at 12:30pm and I finally made the long drive here without going through Aurora Ave since my GPS randomly decided to give my road rage some grace. Only confusion was finding the entrance to this place, but when I did I was actually surprised where I was stepping into. Inside is laid back and cool with plenty of seating for groups of various sizes. There's tables and booths, and I got booth seating for myself when I walked in. There's a TV playing sports nearby where I was, and Vietnamese pop music was playing in the background too. Menu consists of regular foods in most Vietnamese restaurants, though their provincial noodle soups and banh mi sandwiches caught my eye. They even have bún măng vịt (duck and bamboo shoot noodle soup), my favorite that I gotta try next time I come here! From my IG feeds and as a starting point, I got their bánh mì thịt heo nướng (grilled pork Vietnamese sandwich), which comes with all the works of a regular banh mi sandwich, though I was kinda surprised how brightly orange the grilled pork was. Regardless, it was tasty and the meat was juicy. The pork pate added a nice savory touch to the sandwich, and no other condiment was in excess that it took away taste from the flavorful grilled pork. Staff was very kind throughout, and refilled my water every now and then. It was also nice chatting with one of them about our day and other recommendations from the menu. I felt like the portion of veggie and meat wasn't enough for all the rice rolls, plus the actual heo quay was dry with barely any crispy skin. I think they also forgot to give us the heo quay because we had to ask for it much after the banh uot came out. I would skip this next time. I would also skip the banh khot as it was on the softer, chewier side when my personal preference is light and crispy. Those who do like it soft will definitely enjoy it though. As for flavor, it had an extremely prominent coconut taste- it usually isn't so strong in banh khot so I wasn't so fond of this. My family did really enjoy the com tam and banh mi chao. I only had one bite of each, but I would get these items again. Their drinks on the other hand, were delightful. I got the tamarind black tea and my step dad got the lychee green tea.
